The place is amazing, full of authentic beautiful furniture and decorations. Its in an old lovely Palace. The rooms are huge. The dinner was disappointing, maybe because we were at the same time with a group so it was in a regular room and the food was ordinary.

O local é muito bonito e tem potencial, mas a relação qualidade / preço ficou muito longe do que imaginava... a limpeza do quarto estava uma vergonha, para além de bastante pó , bichinhos mortos e teias de aranha, encontrei uma carica no chão por baixo da cama (e era alta, não havia deculpa) e etiquetas de roupa que algum hóspede anterior deixou cair ao lado da mesa de cabeceira. Para além disso o quarto estava gelado mas o aquecimento só é ligado a partir de determinada hora. Como estava mesmo desagradável tivemos de pedir para ser ligado mais cedo.
Não me convenceu!

This property is breathtaking from the moment you arrive. I honestly could not recommend this property enough. I arranged a trip with family and friends for my partners birthday. Upon booking I notified the hotel we were staying for my partners birthday celebration and also booked to dine at the restaurant. The staff situated us in a private dining room, of which was beautifully decorated. In addition they also prepared a surprise birthday cake. I was so touched by the generosity and attention to detail that was put in to making our stay an unforgettable experience.
My expectations were completely exceeded. I cannot wait to return to this property. We enjoyed one of the three decadently decorated living rooms accompanied by a roaring indoor fireplace. In combination with the incredible interior of this extensive property was the gorgeous location and views of the valley. All the produce decorating our dining table was grown on the property.
I cannot wait to return and will be sure to highly recommend/insist on anyone to stay at this beautiful property.

Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast, very rich and a large variety to choose from. Gorgeous views from all of
the rooms locations, a really nice swimming pool area and a nice pool house and great view to the valley. We also had dinner while we stayed, that was really fresh and yummy too, a great value for money! Try the green wine from their own winery, while sitting in one of the romantic viewpoints in the compound, you won't regret it. We loved our stay very much and would recommend anyone in the area to stay there and talk to Maria the owner about her exceptional life story.

Eu e minha esposa ficamos 2 dias neste hotel rural na primeira quinzena de outubro 2018. Excelente atendimento, comida farta e muito boa, ambiente típico dos casarões antigos e muito bem conservado. Adoramos e recomendamos. Parabéns para Daniela, Francisco e toda equipe jovem que trabalha no hotel.

The views were beautiful. The food was good. The service was adequate. But the rooms were outdated and moldy, and are quite expensive compared to the rest of the region.

Seul bémol, la literie, les lits des chambres doubles sont petits. Il est très compliqué de dormir en couple dedans, surtout si votre conjoint mesure plus de 1m80. Manque le sèche cheveux dans la salle de bain.

Lieu d'exception : propriété viticole avec un long chemin privé d'arbres fruitiers qui vous conduit à une grande bâtisse avec de longs couloirs qui desservent des salons en enfilade meublés dans un le jus avec un éclectisme et un goût étonnant en mode " rustique branché " ... un personnel donnant tout de suite la sensation d'un acceuil familial et chaleureux ... des chambres et salle de bains parsemées et toutes personnalisées mais avec une constante de ruralité raffinée... piscine à proximité en contre bas dans les vignes avec tout à disposition et le calme à volonté... buffet généreux le soir servi dans un salon d'ete... endroit fréquenté mais sans la moindre sensation de promiscuité... le PARADIS ...

Un hotel que no deja indiferente. Tiene unas viñas enormes que lo rodean. Es de cuento, con jardines, fuentes, huerto, piscina y el interior con una decoración cómo si fuera una mansión. La dueña es superamable. Es un sitio ideal para relajarse de verdad.

This was a pretty upclass place, so our expectations were in accordance to the standard and price as well. They contacted us to ask if we want dinner as a buffet for 35 euros per person and it was a great choice to accept. The place has this old flavour about it, it is imposing and comfortable. We stayed in a side building and enjoyed dinner and relaxation in the main one. Good room and it was heated when we arrive. The dinner was a great deal, huge selection of dishes, generally good ones even if quality was not the strong point and more the quantity. Same for breakfast, many types of cured meat, cheese and especialy confiture. The estate offers very quaint living rooms for socialising and also you can walk among orchards and vineyards with a beautiful view. Expensive, buy they differentiate themselves.
The access to the estate is not very smooth, especially at night. Breakfast could use some vegetables. The wines we had included in the buffet were just ok, nothing special.

Great classic vintage hotel. Was an issue with water mains but they sorted that quickly. Great area to test your lungs on a run. Absolutely loved this place and it's still on my mind.

Hotel rural fabuloso: casa-mãe senhorial, herdade envolvente.
Problema :
Fomos atirados para uma vivenda : um quarto, no exterior do hotel, sem fruir das ótimas condições do hotel.
Duplo problema :
O candeeiro de teto é de parede são fios expostos em que penduraram duas lâmpadas. Pior: a vivenda tem 4 "quartos" e à chegada dos outros ocupantes terminou com o duche a meio pq a água corria a fio.
Paguei os mesmos 140 euros, por um quarto de uma vivenda mal amanhada!

Hay una Sra. que está en recepción y en todo el Hotel gritando a viva voz con empleados y todo el que se le cruza, habla por altavoz del móvil para que la escuchen. Si esta falta de atención, nosotros venimos buscando tranquilidad. ¡Honestamente, no lo recomiendo ni a mi peor enemigo!!!

Sucio, mal gestionado, no limpian las habitaciones entre estancia, asqueroso, si sois alérgicos a los perros hay dos y que entran libremente en el bufete de desayunos. Horrible, ¡no recomendado!!!!

Wow - I stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon for one night and it was NOT long enough! It was magical, in every way. The charm of the estate is private, intimate, and peaceful. Jorge greeted us when we checked in and was extremely kind! He had wine from the vineyard and a bowl of fruit grown on the estate brought to us by the pool! We felt the most relaxed we’ve ever been sitting by the pool, listening to the fountain, and gazing at the Douro valley. The dinner buffet was excellent and well worth it! The owner, Maria, met us and was so kind - the kind of person you feel you’ve known for years with the biggest heart. After dinner, we sat in the living room with wine and watched futbol! It felt like an extension of our home, if our home happened to be a charming and cozy estate! We enjoyed walking around the 200 acre vineyard, picking fruit and washing them in the fountain, and falling in love with Portugal.

This property is visually spectacular and very comfortable.We really wished we had stayed longer to relax and enjoy the fantastic hospitality. The dinner was fantastic as was the breakfast, held in the most glorious dining room.... a really gorgeous place

Firstly there is no doubting that the hotel is beautiful. Set in amazing wine land, it carries loads of old time charm and is just all round impressive.
Unfortunately though our stay here was completely over shadowed by an incident with the owner.
My wife and I arrived to find that a wedding was taking place, everything from the ceremony to the the dinner to the end of night party, something no one had told us in advance despite booking two months prior. They reassured us we wouldn’t be distributed as our room was the other side of the grounds. This was either a lie or wishful thinking. At 11pm the music was booming and as my wife has been experiencing morning sickness I went across to speak to someone about how much longer it would be going on for.
At this point i was confronted by the owner of the hotel, a woman who on appearances seemed like she should understand customer service better. The tirade she unleashed included gems like “you think I need your money? I own this place” and “you don’t hear music you hear the moon you crazy boy”. She ended by telling me she was going to call the police and didn’t care that my wife is pregnant because she’s been pregnant before and she had twins, like it was a competition. It was totally insane. When we saw guests the following day they commented they’d heard a woman screaming over the music!
The next morning we cut our stay short, checked out and the beleaguered looking guy working on reception asked if we’d stay because the owner wasn’t going to be around for a few days! He apologised for his boss as we left, not before charging us in full for the night and the €35 per head for buffet dinner.

The location is fantastic with the manor house situated in the vineyards. The manor house has decades of history with the decor is a collection of the familys memories and artefacts. We only had breakfast which was more than adequate, but Im fairly sure the dinner would be excellent. Rooms fairly basic but again quaint. The estate is beautiful with a tennis court, pool area and loads of space. Highly recommended for a special occasion or a weekend away.

Классное место.. вдалеке от городской суеты. Апельсиновая роща, огромнейшие фиговые деревья с большущими, сочными плодами . Среди гор. Старинная португальская резиденция. На территории есть бассейн. Вкусная еда. Собственная винодельня. Можно несколько дней побродить и отдохнуть. Хозяйка Графиня. Так что можно еще и с Графиней потусить. Она часто тут встречает гостей.

Very cool old farm house that has been in same family for 200 years. HOuse is charming with beautiful salons to sit and read by fire. SIts in a 180 acres of vineyards. Room was so-so... beds and pillows hard, and filled with about 5 space heaters. Rather remote location, but overall worth the stay

We spent 3 days at the hotel attending the wedding of our daughter and her (then) fiancé. Oh my goodness what a wonderful place for a wedding, idyllic. We had a pre-wedding paella on Wednesday - the food was plentiful and so good. The wedding day was everything the bride and groom wanted, the guests not thinking it too shabby either. Maria made a beautiful bouquet for the bride and posies for the bridesmaids, all from her garden on the morning of the wedding. Again the food - it just kept coming, dancing 'til nearly dawn for some! Obviously the highlight of our stay was the wedding but I would feel very happy in encouraging anyone to experience Hotel Rural Casa dos Viscondes da Varzea. Maria and George are courteous and obliging hosts. We hope to return at some stage.

It was a perfect stay, but it was too short. Maria, the owner is a wonderful and charming host. The quinta, its rooms and the landscape are superb. A stunnig place excelled to relax. Definitely we,ll come back.

I was here for a wedding over 4 days. This is hands down the best location for a wedding. The staff are extremely friendly, the location is not only quiet but also scenic and the atmosphere is ideal for such an occasion. The rooms were well maintained and the beds are very homely and comfortable. The owner was regular available to ensure that our needs were met. Simply super!

We had a fabulous two night stay in this amazing hotel located only 90 minutes from Porto Airport on some of the most scenic roads Ive ever experienced. The hotel is in a very quiet, secluded area surrounded by vineyards and mountains. The minute we arrived at the hotel we noticed how quiet and peaceful it was. We ate in the hotel on both evenings, enjoying a beautiful buffet outside on the first evening and a more formal meal in the dining room on the second evening. The price of the meal includes red and white wine so it is very reasonable and the food was delicious. The breakfast buffet was also very nice with a choice of cold meats, breads, cereals and fruit. We used the swimming pool during our stay and the beautiful setting surrounding the pool is so relaxing that it would be easy to spend a day here reading a book and enjoying the views. The hotel is a 15-20 minute drive to Lamego town. Our bedroom was situated in one of the buildings nearer the pool. The room was huge with lots of wardrobe space. The bathroom was also very big. There was no air conditioning in the room and even though the temperatures hit 38degrees we didnt need it because of the thick walls of the original buildings the room remained cool. The view of the mountains and vines from the room was beautiful. Ricardo and the other staff were very helpful and welcoming and organised our tickets for the boat trip. We will definitely go back to this amazing hotel but next time for longer than 2 nights.

An amazing hotel in a winery with 180 Acres of land. Looks like a French Chateau complete with fine china, crystal, and magnificent salons. Service is excellent. The only negative is that it is a little hard to find as it is not in town.

This Aparthotel was clean & functional with a convenient location for exploring/walking the city of Porto. Parking is nearby and not expensive (7euro/day). The area is very busy but it is still possible to unload at the front door before going to a parking lot.

My husband and I stayed overnight here on our drive around Portugal and Spain, and we totally loved everything about the casa. From our boisterous welcoming by the friendly resident dogs, to the beautiful castle style huge rooms, to the friendliness of Maria and her staff, to the beautiful grounds, we were very pleased. I would return here anytime! And...Maria will arrange to have your laundry done! Perfect. Plus there is an interesting history of the casa and Marias family

The owner and staff did everything right! There wasnt anything they would not do to make our stay perfect! We were upgraded to a marvelous suite. They did our laundry. Gave us ideas for our day trips. Fed us non stop. The food was better than most restaurants anywhere. They grow there own grapes. We had the estate wines and port. All in all a perfect stay!

this is a hotel / mansion perfect for big events (wedding, business event, etc.). If you are traveling as a couple, I don’t think you will enjoy your experience like the people who were there with many others. That place is set up to accommodate groups… In their 3 different dining rooms, they only have big tables (for 8-10 people). No table for 2 or 4… The place is very big. It’s like a museum. It’s old but it also smells old. The view and the garden are amazing and they have a nice pool and a tennis court (bring our own racquets and balls if you want to play). Dinner was good but way overprice. 29euros per person (for a buffet). I guess they do a buffet on nights that they have events and offer ‘a la carte’ meals when they don’t have events. Since the hotel is far from any restaurant, we still decided to pay the extra price to avoid driving 15-20min to a near restaurant.It’s true that the place is amazingly nice. If you don’t mind overpaying a little bit, I would recommend going but only for a group event. If you are thinking of going as a couple, I advise you to book your room somewhere else…
