Nice clean hostel, however tonight I returned to my room to see another hiker going through my things, when I approached my bunk he became quite direct with me and stated he was going to visit my bunk for some fun in the middle of the night. He then took the bunk next time to mine and sat watching me for over an hour - doing nothing else, just watching. i packed up and left. Front desk clerk - who had been very helpful until that point - simply giggled as I walked by at 1030pm and said happy trails. You would think she would ask why someone who had just paid for two people and two bunks for two nights as well as having laundry done would leave so early. - but no. I emailed to cancel my next days reservation. Did not feel safe after this incident and have gone down the street to a hotel for the next two days. Didn't even both to ask for a refund for two people for the night. ** Since this review we have been emailed and asked to be fair to the hostel in Tomar - who have been very brisk in their emails to us. They seem put out that because we did not create a scene in the hostel and ask for our rooms be to be changed that we did not give them a chance to resolve the situation. This is true, we left as we did not want a scene amid our fellow pilgrims as we - not they - have to travel with these people for 30-40 days. They are mad that we rated them 1 out of 5 stars which does not relate to their staff or their location. This is not true, while the hostel was clean and reception was initially kind, they did little to stop the party atmosphere and the lady (while we left) thought the matter was funny and wishes us "happy trails". So yes your service does lack in that regard. Next you state that we did not admit to getting a refund - that is because we did not. Finally, you suggest you provided a solutions - this is not true as it took 4 days for your staff to respond to our email regarding the situation - which for a hiker is not suitable. You are entirely right, perhaps you did not deserve the one star, it is us, who after having my backpack gone through and being harassed is the problem. Typical response, blame the person harassed by another for the issue.

It’s a nice building and the rooms are ok. I wouldn’t stay here again, however. I am walking the Camino and this place is very loud and allows parties at night. You can hear everything from your room, the walls are so thin. Last night I got up at 12:15 am to ask a group playing loud music and yelling to quiet down so everyone else could sleep. Their leader said that they stayed at this hostel because it is allowed for them to make noise and party all night. Maybe if you stay here a different night, it’s a better experience, but I won’t risk it again. Also, the breakfast is very basic. Just bread and jam and cereal. The reception staff are very nice. Good location.

Second time staying here. First time alone, second with my family (husband and 2 kids, 9 and 6 yrs old). Always very clean, staff extremely helpful, and a spot on location. Highly recommend!

The best "architectural" hostel I've have seen! A real masterpiece of stile and functionality! Very clean, modern and comfortable, with everything you need! We were on bicycle on the Camino Portugues, and we spent a nice day here. Don't miss it if you come in Thomar!

bello e ben organizzato, situato nel centro cittadino e proprio sul cammino di santiago.

It is a hippie like hostel in Tomar with bunk beds and washing machine and poor breakfast. Too many stairs for very tired pilgrims, but it is on Jacobs way to Santiago de Compostela and has a very good location. It is not cheap, but Tomar is an expensive place to hang around. I am not sure if I would come back here next time.

L'hostel est idéalement placé dans la rue principale qui n'en demeure pas moins très calme à cet endroit pendant la nuit. L'accueil est chaleureux, l'espace est propre et possède toutes les commodités nécessaires. Il peut aussi bien s'agir d'un lieu étape que d'un pied à terre pour quelques jours.

Gostei muito do Hostel Tomar. Está super bem.localizado e as pessoas são muito simpáticas.

Hotel central, muito bem decorado, em que cada quarto tem um nome e conta uma história. Limpeza excelente dos quartos, casas de banho (partilhada) e cozinha. O pequeno almoço tinha pouco variedade. Dificuldade em encontrar estacionamento para o carro (este ficou a uns 700m).

Excelente estadia. Ótima localização. Lugar limpo, com um atendimento muito bom sendo as meninas bem simpáticas. O quarto compartilhado é muito confortável e a cozinha muito organizada e limpa. Os banheiros também sempre limpos e organizados. Amei! Recomendo!

Buena atención, recinto muy limpio, tranquilo, amplio y cerca del Convento de Cristo. Totalmente recomendable.

Buena ubicación. La limpieza regular. No se si habrá sido por las fiestas que acabar an el día que llegamos. Nos toco la habitación con balcón y vistas a una casa abandonada que se había convertido en un palomar.

Auberge très bien située en centre ville. Chambre avec casier et prise de courant à chaque lit. Sanitaire correct. Bon accueil. Déjeune simple. Lieu agréable pour les pèlerins.

This hostel was great in terms of accommodation. Clean, centrally located (and right on the Camino Portuguese). The staff was friendly and helpful. Showers were new with great pressure. Wifi worked well in common area but not great if your bed was the furthest from common area. Kitchen well equipped and included breakfast good.My issue with my stay here was that the room next to mine (i had a famle ont 6 bed room) but next to a room full of really loud 20 year olds who were inconsiderate #%$&. They screamed, laughed and sung literally from 9pm to 3am. Some of us in the room went to te front desk and a lady in my room even went to tell them to shut up multiple times as well.Honnestly, it’s not the hostels fault but they should really enforce the rules about everyone being quiet after 10-11pm. They did not and for that they are pointing point.

Local limpo e agradável. As camas são confortáveis apenas um pequeno reparo ao acesso às camas superiores ser pouco comoda. A localização do hostel é top. Memo em fds de festa é muito sossegado. A simpatia da recepção tem de ser referenciada. Pequeno almoço com o indispensável... pão fresco... muito bom. Obrigado.

Très cher mauvais rapport qualité prix, les gestionnaires n'assurent pas, il y avait un groupe de jeunes qui faisait la fête dès 22H quand les responsables sont partis. Pire nuit jamais passée dans un hostel et nous avons une très longues expérience

מלון קטן לאנשים שלא אכפת להם לחלוק חדר עם עוד כמה מטיילים. מחיר מאוד הוגן לתמורה שמקבלים אפשר לעשות כביסה במקום תמורת 4 יורו מטבח מאובזר כך שאפשר לקנות מצרכים בסופר הקרוב ולבשל ארוחה . האקוסטיקה במלון לא טובה אבל מסתדרים . בסך הכל מלון מעולה ומיקום מרכזי .

Un super séjour à Tomar dans cette AJ très fonctionnelle, bon accueil, bonne literie et bon petit déjeuner, mais on a eu un peu froid car peu de chauffage en mars...

Buona posizione, arredamento simpatico ma ho dovuto rinunciare al soggiorno perché non mi avevano detto che non funzionava il riscaldamento...si sono anche stupiti che non volessi stare al freddo. La ragazza alla reception è abbastanza inesperta. Non è adatto a soggiorni nei mesi freddi.

Excellent location, minutes away from the main town square. Very clean, well equipped kitchen, laundry room, etc. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Dorm room was very spacious, bed very comfortable.

Ottimo servizio, ottima accoglienza del personale nei confronti dei peregrini in difficoltà e non solo. Le camere sono ampie e spaziose, i letti sono grandi, la cucina è molto semplice ed è fornita dell'essenziale. Mi sono sono trovata davvero molto bene.

So i stayed here for a week and thats a long time to stay in a hostel. It was fantastic, all the staff where so helpful and friendly and can speak most European languages. Its a great stop over for pilgrams and for tourist for a visit to Tomar. The rooms and the whole hostel was clean and fresh. The bedrooms where also so comfortable and its so nice to open the big door windows in the morning stand on the balcony and look along the mable stone street and see either the castle or the river. Breakfast is ok and if you like to cook yourself there kitchen is well equipped. I highly recommend this hostel and ive stayed in them all around the world. I will sure be re visiting when ever in the area. Great value for its location. Thank you to sonia and all the staff which now feel like good friends.

Lage mit 1 min zum Stadtzentrum und 10 min zum Convent sehr gut. Empfang super. Den Stern Abzug gibt es für DSL Frühstück, da für alle nur ein Liter Milch da war... und das ist sehr streng bewertet.

Good points : location. Girls on reception can be friendly. Bad points : no air-conditining, no fans. Extremely poor breakfast. no cheese no ham. Coffee poor. Breakfast room, not enough seating or too many broken chairs. The lounge area extremely poor design. uncomfortable seating - infact not sure you could call it seating. Wooden pallet boxes with some cushions?!?! What's that about? It's not acceptable and it's cheap lazy design. What happened to normal comfortable armchairs or sofas that normal humans have in their lounge / sitting rooms? Rather odd instructional messages in big letters on the walls such as 'RELAX AND MAKE FRIENDS' (what's the point of this?) or in the breakfast room, 'ENJOY YOUR MEAL' which is rather antagonistic considering the breakfast is so poor. But what is the point of this? Again why not have pleasant pictures to decorate the walls? All the walls around the interior of the hostel are adorned with scribbles and graffiti !(Why?!) with all kinds of pretentious messages or 'words of wisdom' from teenage travellers. It just looks a mess and does not in anyway create a calming or aesthetically pleasant atmosphere. Would it not have been better to have had some nice pictures / paintings? Terrace Area: inhabited by lots of dirty noisy pigeons. Public health hazard surely? So to conclude: Overall: C- Public Areas: D Breakfast: E Wi-fi: B Reception: C Reception (local) Knowldege Cleansiness: B Rooms: D (no air-conditining or fans) Location : B Value : C Bathrooms: C- some flooding, shower units could be better, but good hot water and pressure. Aesthetics: D Interior Design: D Noise: C Comfort: D Likely to recommend : NO.

un desastre, no me gustó nada, al hacer el check-in no nos tenían hecha las camas, nos dijeron que nos las harían después, llegamos en la noche, cansados, sólo a dormir y las camas no estaban hechas y a otra persona que se quedaba ahí no le habían dado la tarjeta para poder entrar en la noche, ella quería salir a comer algo y no pudo salir, porque después no hubiera tenido cómo entrar... Se tuvo que quedar sin comer... Pobre :( NO VENGAN A ESTE HOSTEL

Ostello nella via centrale di Tomar a pochi passi da un parcheggio non a pagamento. L'ostello era pulito e molto confortevole. Siamo stati qua a inizio giugno e la struttura era quasi vuota. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Consigliato

Location was the best and very quiet and clean. In front of the hostel the street was pedestrian only. Breakfast was put out the night before so anyone wanting an early start was a go. Had a grill for those grilled cheese buns. Shared a new bathroom with one other person and very quiet. Highly recommended and great stay. Great staff.

Very good, very clean and friendly personal. The price was fair, it included even breakfast which I did not have, so I don't know how that is. The location is also very quiet and well located in the middle of the center. I recommend it.

Primeiro hostel de Tomar (acho eu). Bem situado, numa das ruas históricas da cidade e com bons espaços interiores.

My room was at the front, facing the street/corredoura and had a balcony. It was a small room but the balcony made up for the lack in size. I had the best time and Fernando, one of the hostel staff, gave me a great recommendation for a seafood dinner! Tomar is wonderful and when I go back, I will stay here again! Obrigada!!!

We stayed at 2300 Thomar Hostel in September 2013 for a couple days and loved it! It was clean, friendly, and located very centrally! At the time we were on the Portuguese Camino, and it was very hot, our hosts kindly agreed to mail a package of extra, unwanted stuff back to Lisbon within a few weeks so that we could pick it up on our way home. We would definitely would stay here again.
