A nice, clean, quiet, comfortable hotel in the heart of Porto. Checking in was a breeze. The pillow menu is fantastic. Breakfast buffet was priced lower than expected. The hotel is right next to the hop-on hop-off bus stop, which is always great. The waterfront is within walking distance. Concierge always had a great recommendation for waterfront food.

Right in the middle of Porto, Metro station and main railway station just around the corner, restaurants right outside the hotel, a short walk (downhill) to the river front. Rooms clean quiet and well maintained. Spire Elite member.

What a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived we felt valued and taken care off. We arrived 3 hours before check-in, but staff were quick to ready our room. Staff were friendly and attentive and anticipated our needs without being intrusive. We appreciated the decor and attention to detail in the hotel. Breakfast was terrific and again the service was great. The location was also perfect. Overall we couldn’t be happier, thanks to all the staff for a memorable stay!

Everything about this hotel is superb. Massive massive recommendation from me. The staff really could not do enough for you. Friendly, presentable and fantastic. The concierge always worked very hard to help us get some good restaurants booked last minute. There were three of us so we decided to get a suite, which really was unbeatable (although the sofa bed was not the most comfortable thing). The location is almost uneatable, it's quite hard to get anything quite this superb so centrally.

Donner une Chambre Classic avec deux lits jumeaux au lieu d’une chambre de luxe avec lit King size réservée et payée d’avance .
c’est totalement inadmissible et totalement inexcusable!
Le départ de cet hôtel avec le sentiment d’avoir été trompé et volé n’incite pas à revenir dans cette chaîne d’hotel .

I was upgraded to a suit. The room were very large an comfort. The sleeping bed was very comfortable. The huge problem was that the air conditioner in the upper level is too week and even the setup was for 18 degrees it was very warm and in the last night I didn’t sleep all the night. From customer relation manager I understood that the problem is known and due to hot days the actual situation is the best.
This is not a keeping quality for 400€/day.I understood that it was not possible to change room because the hotel was fully booked.
I expect for compensation.

O bar tem um espaço muito agradável e acolhedor.
A comida do menu executivo óptima. Apresentação excelente.
Houve um senão, tempo de espera longo. (Mas, funcionário do bar tinha avisado).
Lamento não fazerem reservas para menu de almoço.

Desweiteren muss erwähnt werden dass das Hotel sehr Zentral gelegen ist und sich exzellent eignet um Porto kennen zu lernen.

We were in Porto for two days. The Intercontinental is a beautiful hotel that was renovated for modern comfort. The duplex suite was perfect for a stay with my husband and 20 y/o son. The location is on the historic Praca da Liberdate and adjacent to the shopping district of Santa Catarina. We walked down the hill to a restaurant on the river. Best of all, the service was exceptional. The Checkin, Bellmen and Concierge all provided 5 Star service.

This may be the best hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. We had no concerns or complaints. The staff was very welcoming, attentive and caring. It does not go unnoticed when you return from a long day of sightseeing and the concierge greats you by your name as you walk into the lobby and asks how the day was and if there is anything he could have done to make it better.

Acredito muito em investir para viajar melhor. Tenho experimentado me hospedar em hotéis da cadeia Intercontinental na América do Norte e agora na Europa . Fiquei muito satisfeito com as instalações e serviços nesse Intercontinental da cidade do Porto . Um hotel bonito, mas principalmente com Qualidade. Valeu a pena a estadia e agora como membro do Clube vou aproveitar ainda mais.

This hotel is expensive but the service was top notch. It's an oasis in a busy central area - literally one block from the Sao Bento station and steps away from everything else.
The accommodations were very luxurious and staff very responsive. The Food and Bev staff were a little brusque but otherwise everything was great and enjoyed our stay.
Rooms were quiet and comfortable and very well nice appointed.

To whom it may concern,
I recently stayed at this property, which has a fine location and the check inn process was really smooth room was clean and tidy and service was fine, on the down side when I noticed during day hours there was some kind of construction in the hotel which was really inconvenient and disturbing for me and my wife’s honeymoon stay. I think there should have been a prior mention of this kind of issue before the stay or a reduction of the cost. I am usually impressed with your service but this time it was disappointing.

We enjoyed our stay here and loved the area this hotel was in. It is central to so many great restaurants as well as to the waterfront. The views of the surrounding buildings and the square are great! The concierge's recommendations for restaurants made our trip incredible and so memorable. Would definitely stay here again!

A wonderful hotel with great staff.
The concierge gave us brilliant recommendations for dinner and we had a great night.
Our room was spacious and luxurious.
and everything extremely clean and pleasant.
The breakfast was superb.
It was a short walk to great restaurants, shops, the beautiful train station, and the incredible bookshop - not to be missed!
Everyone we met from the hotel was extremely pleasant, helpful and welcoming.
You have a really excellent hotel.I would never stay anywhere else in Porto.

Wir waren total begeistert, sowohl von Porto als auch von unserem Hotel. Perfekt gelegen, schon beim Eintreten fühlt man sich wohl. Draußen noch laut vom Stadtverkehr, innen wunderbar ruhig und entspannt.
Der Empfang war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Unser Zimmer seeehr schön, groß, sauber, ein tolles Bad, der Blick in den schönen Innenhof gerichtet, ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen.
Das Personal ist in allen Bereichen zuvorkommend, freundlich und bemüht. Besonders hervorzuheben ist Concierge Supervisor Mr. Martins der uns durch seine fortlaufenden Bemühungen, perfekte Organisation und seine liebenswerte Art einen tollen Urlaub ermöglicht hat. Herzlichen Dank speziell nochmal dafür!

This is a hotel with great potential. I loved the suite which the hotel had very kindly upgraded me. And the staff have real passion. But it was not the seemless five star experience which you should receive at this hotel where you need to think constantly have we got the detail right. The food and beverage was not up to scratch except for the breakfast. I gave the food a try in the bar, the main restaurant and room service once- but once was enough I am sorry to say.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. We loved the ability to walk to many different areas, such as the Ribiero region, which is louder, perhaps busier at night, but returning to the hotel for the night. The lobby is luxurious and the rooms were nicely appointed.

This hotel is one of the nicest IHG properites that we've stayed at. Upon our arrival, we realized that we'd left behind our laptop bag in last holiday inn in Lisbon, so we were quite upset about that. Nuno called hotel immediately to check our bag in Lost and Found and initiated the process of express mailing it to us before we left. He followed up the next AM at breakfast to complete the process and when the bag arrived the next morning, he hand delivered it to us at the restaurant. The entire staff was courteous and always helpful. The room was most comfortable with the finest linens and bedding. The location was also first rate. We had rainy, windy weather during our stay, but the location made it easy to get around. We took a local tour, which was a great way to see the city without walking around in the rain. When we return to Porto, this is our place to be! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Best location at the central square. Hop on Hop off bus is right across the street as is the "best Mc Donalds in the world" with espresso and pastries. The main palaces, waterfront, superb restaurants, etc are very accessible and despite a few hills, walkable. Loved this hotel and Porto!!

Stayed for our 40th wedding anniversary and up coming 60th birthday. Our stay from beginning to end was excellent. Thank you to Francesca Moreira for the surprise complimentary bottle of wine to start our celebrations and a huge thank you to Ricardo Ferraz for the birthday cake and bottle of port wine. We had a magical and memorable stay at this hotel we will take away lovely memories of Porto and highly recommend a stay at this hotel. We hope to return one day.

You could say that this property is at the center of Porto. We were in Porto on holiday and from the hotel, we could walk to all the sights and restaurants that were on our must see list.
In addition, the concierge, Goncalo, suggested some wonderful restaurants to try, and helped solve some other other querries we had. His attention to detail and service were nonpareil.
The check-in and check-out process were seamless. The hotel lobby clean and inviting. It was also easy to catch a shuttle to El Corte Ingles because of the reciprocal agreement between the department store and the hotel.

This hotel is truly a cut above the rest.
The quality of the hotel from public spaces, to the size and features in the room, to the comfort of the bed were outstanding.
The staff were the most attentive staff we have met in any hotel.
The location is right in the middle of everything and we had a view over the main square with two sets of double doors to open up and experience it.
Could not have been happier.

My wife and I were walking by the front of the hotel when she rolled here ankle on a missing cobble stone. We needed to get her off her feet and made a beeline for the hotel lobby. One of the bellmen saw the distress she was in and quickly offered assistance. He got us a bag of ice for her ankle and rested for bit. From the lobby we could hear a great Fado duo playing in the bar. We made our way to the bar enjoyed the music, and a great dinner and wine.
We have stayed at Intercontental Hotels in many different places, however we were not this time. None the less the compassion and customer service was there for us.

What a great hotel from start to finish! The staff is very polite and accommodating. We arrived about an hour early and they did their best to have our rooms available. We had a bite of lunch in the bar and luggage was delivered. The hotel is located in a great spot in Porto. It is walkable to everything. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are well appointed, and the bathrooms are extremely nice.
The breakfast buffet contains anything one would want, but there is a menu to select other things such as omelets. I would stay at this hotel again anytime.

The InterContinental in Porto has a really great, convenient location. Within walking distance of many major sites. And very convenient for public transportation.
The Hotel has a great accommodating staff.
The breakfast buffet is extensive and well presented.
My room overlooked the Square with a balcony. Very nice.
Directions from the Concierge weren't so great, but it is a minor point.

Everything was fabulous! Staffs were very friendly and helpful especially the one whose picture is on its website. I really want to appreciate him for his willingness to help me with everything. Room was the most spacious as well as cosiest I’ve ever stayed! Making up for a room service was really satisfying. I could feel how much they tried to think of their guests. Location couldn’t be any better. I could manage to walk everywhere. If I visit Porto in near future, I will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I had a wonderful three nights here. The location on the praca de liberdade is perfect. The staff were all friendly and incredibly helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable with everything you could need. Very luxurious and whilst expensive certainly not over expensive for what was on offer. We would have no hesitation in booking the Porto Intercontinental again if we were in Porto.

Really enjoyed our stay here. First time in the city and the property was well located to see the sights. Upgraded to a junior suite (Ambassador) and the room was large, comfortable with lots of natural light from the three large windows facing the square. Excellent drinks served in the bar. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant all excellent. Overall, the staff make this property a wonderful place to stay.

Próximamente van a poner en el lugar donde actualmente está el restaurante una tienda de chinos con lo que el conjunto perderá bastante en mi modesta opinión.

My wife and I visited Porto as part of an anniversary trip. Everything about our stay at the IC Porto was completely perfect. The staff were terrific, the hotel is extremely conveniently located and the facility and rooms were beautiful.
My only recommendation would be to add a few more USB and power outlets, particularly universal outlets. Otherwise, our stay was as good as we could have possibly hoped for and we would love to return in the future.

This is an excellent hotel! perhaps in terms of service the best Intercontinental I have experienced! the hotel is centrally located in the town of oporto in a lovely square with a view of the fortress and beautiful buildings. rooms are nice , decorated with taste. but what makes a huge difference is the service of the hotel! from doormen to bell boys, reception, spa , room service , concierge , bar , every one was unbelievably polite, courteous and willing to assist! everybody communicated in perfect english ( and spanish ) and was profesional with a smile! this kind of service we have experienced in deluxe properties in the far east only! congratulations Intercontinental oporto , you really made a difference!

Hotel with great location, nice decor, and very poor service. The receptionist showed little smile, was very snobbish, as if they had to bestow their attitudes on bothersome guests. Very reluctant to give a small pencil draw kit to kids when we asked for it, and a minute ago we just saw them giving the same thing to another kid. Maybe they treat guests differently. In would not recommend this hotel, the staff were busy chatting with each other than serving guests.

Very nice hotel. It’s located in the heart of the city. Walking distance to everything. Staff was absolutely wonderful. I can’t recall the last time I had such a thoughtful and helpful staff.
Only complaint would be that our room was a bit noisy, we had to use a sound generator to get our kids to sleep.

Ob es sich jetzt um das beste Hotel Portos handelt, kann ich nicht sagen, aber es ist das erste Hotel am Platz (hier Praça da Liberdade). So man ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Platz ergattert, hat man einen hervorragenden Blick auf das quirlige Treiben unter sich. Die Zimmer sind passend zum Gebäude geschmackvoll eingerichtet, man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Das Personal ist hilfsbereit und versucht dem Gast auch die ausgefallensten Wünsche zu erfüllen. (In meinem Fall, die Suche nach einem Modell Eisenbahn Laden). Einziger Kritikpunkt, so es überhaupt einer ist. Man sollte sich mal darum kümmern, das die Musiker, die immer wieder den Praça da Liberdade nutzen, um sich und ihre, doch recht gute Musik zu präsentieren, ihr Repertoire deutlich erweitern. Drei Lieder reichen mir hier nicht!

You should be a man staying in this room. There is nowhere to even put your foot to shave a leg. I also asked for an extra bed that was NOT in the room when we got ther and then I called about it and they argued with me that it would be there later when we went to bed. It was already 8:00 pm. Then there were not enough towels in ANY of the five rooms we booked there for one night. Finally even though we brought 18 people there and 5 rooms I was unable to get any points or any stays for my status with IHG. I won’t be making booking with this company a habit!

While our weather wasn’t perfect, our hotel was wonderful . Beautifully located within walking distance or quick taxi we were able to see the sites in spite of the variable weather. It was always a treat to come back to the hotel - the perfect blend of charm and modern features. Don’t overlook their clubby bar with a great happy hour and live jazz music at nite. Booth were fantastic. We had rooms facing the courtyard and could have been upgraded to the plaza view but chose to stay in the nice quiet room that we enjoyed. I highly recommend this hotel.

As two older American women wishing to stay in Porto for 4 more days after a Viking River Douro cruise, we were surprised to encounter such a lovely, warm welcome when we arrived at the Palacio das Cardosas. The clerk at the reception desk was our first indication of the professionalism and helpfulness we would encounter with all the other staff members who aided us in making this one of the most memorable hotel stays - even including other Intercontinental establishments - we've had in Europe. The location is superb, so that in all of our exploratory walks, we seemingly naturally ended up at the Intercontinental.
Regarding the room, it was spacious, immaculately clean and had a lovely view over the back garden. The twin beds were large and comfortable, so much so that sinking onto one of them at the end of a long day of walking made it difficult to get back up again.
Breakfast was ample and delicious and all the entries were quickly replenished. The made-to-order Eggs Florentine were especially tasty. The extra touch of champagne made this meal a real highlight, too.
In sum, I would be delighted to return to the Palacio das Cardosas and to see those beautiful and aromatic lilies in the lobby and know that I would be sure to experience another wonderful stay.

The concierges all of them are very very helpful, they explained which restaurant to go, with typical food from Porto.
And places to visit,
They also arranged our trip to the wine tasting, we had the nicest wine tasting trip .
The housekeeping was excellent, they gave extra milk for the coffee, which we ran out easily.
Over all the we had a pleasant stay and happy .
If we have another occasion to visit Porto again, definitely we will book The Intercontinental Porto.
And the Hotel itself is in the best position of the City, easy to go everywhere.

Porto has many aspects and makes an interesting choice for a city break.
This hotel is very central, and is maintained to remain very modern.
Reception and concierge team were able to greet us by name day after day, and generally remembered our room number is a polite way.
Breakfast team worked hard and ensured we were happy after slight minor mishaps.
The upgraded room was above expectations.

On the down side, for this level of hotel,the coffee in the room could be much better that a "Nescafe" bag.... a detail that could become important when you wake up :-)

it is a nice building, good location. but the staff offers very poor service, you call for something, they come listen to you and never call you back. the staff completely ignores you. they are more interesting in talking among themselves than taking care of the guest. then they want to charge me with a bill from the bar that it was already paid. Every time we went to the bar, we make sure we paid because I do not like to charge anything to the room. But they insisted that you can not pay at the bar. That was a big lie.

The property is in the best location in Porto, there is no question it is the best. What I would like to see improve is the breakfast food. Every day we ordered eggs, but I’ve never seen anyone in my 30-year history of staying in hotels where the chef can’t poach an egg. If anyone wants an under or over cooked egg, then this hotel is ideal :). Some sarcasm.... oddly enough we had lunch in the main restaurant and that chef an cook , so someone different for breakfasts. The breakfast for 36 euros is not worth the money.

My wife and I had a beautiful stay at your hotel while we were on vacation in Portugal. The property itself was fantastic, located in a very desirable part of the Porto and overlooking the main square. The entire staff from reception to concierge were extremely helpful and responsive. Initially the Friday night was fully booked but the local reservation team put us on a wait list and were eventually able to follow up and confirm the extra night for us. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary during this trip and thanks to the Intercontinental Porto it was indeed very special.

Excelente ubicación y calidad pero la atención no es digna de habitaciones a 500 euros. El personal no tiene una atención high standard. El desayuno es normal. El restaurant es espectacular y el bar muy bueno.

The concierge staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They secured tickets , found us a driver a day before on short notice for a day tour. Always a smile and recognition. I felt like a valued family member! (Rogelio and others)

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, close to a main railway station, and a 20-minute walk (easier down than up) from the very busy tourist locations around the river.
Excellent staff at all levels; comfortable, clean, quiet room.

The hotel is located close to the old town, the lobby is shiny and up scale, but this is where it stops, we had exc king room, it was small and pokiest, the bathroom was from the 80's and was dated and worn, and not very nice. for the money its simply not worth it, I think some of the other boutiques were better. We cut the trip by 2 days purely because of the hotel room, we moved on to a much nicer place for the same money. I lock myself for trusting the brand name......oh well. on to brighter things

We could not have had a better stay in Porto. We loved everything about this hotel. The location was perfect the staff were amazing and our evening meal was out of this world. We had the 7 course tasting menu, it was worth every penny.
We will be back again.

The 4 nights were marked as non qualifying despite spending 4 nights there . We had a view of homeless people going to the toilet and we were promised additional points for not being able to have an upgrade or a late check out . This did not happen either.
It took a long time to check out as only one person was on checkout and we had to go and find someone to find a staff member to check us out .
Not really any benefit to the program at this hotel

I stayed for two nights at the luxurious Intercontinental Porto. The hotel location is about perfect: it is at the end of the Liberdale Square overlooking the entire square, and is very close to the Douro River, the Ponte Luis (Bridge) and the old town. Nights were very quiet, but days were a bit noisy due to (uninvited) music sound from across the street.
I mistakenly turned on the no disturb sign at the door, and consequiently there was no bottle of water left in the room on the second day; but the maid did come (upon my call) to clean the room even at the late evening. Service at the restaurant (Astoria Jantar) was however, super slow even when the restaurant was not busy. Staffs at ther Consierge and receptions desk were extremely helpful. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

For Americans, I would describe this business as a very posh and sophisticated hotel located in the equivalent of NYC’s Times Square in Porto.
Highly recommend this place. Service was amazing and the people of this hotel were the excellent.
Only concern was the hotel’s restaurant. They market it as an upscale place but the food quality was not up to standard for the level of service they advertised. For example, my steak was so tough that I thought my knife was dull and asked for another knife which didn’t help.

We had a little laugh when we saw the pillow menus especially considering the pillows that are already in the room are extremely comfortable, but it is an indicator on how seriously they take guest comfort. This was an amazing hotel possibly one of the most central locations at the heart of Porto. We enjoyed our stay as we were passing through this magical old city.

I stayed here with my parents this June.
1. Location : absolutely fantastic. You can enjoy the town and a lot of things are within walking distance.
2. Rooms : well-managed, and kept in high standards.
3. Staff members : reception desk staff members were very helpful, but people at the concierge desk were just busy talking to themselves all the time. This could be improved.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Porto for two nights before starting my Camino journey. The location was perfect for seeing everything that Porto has to offer. The train station and cathedral are less than a five minute walk. The hotel staff was excellent and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I will definitely stay here during my next visit to Porto.

This was the last stop of our 12 day Portugal visit and it was perfect. The staff, the breakfast (second to none... has everything you could want or imagine) and the location and room were excellent. It was the best way to end our amazing trip to beautiful Portugal. Hope to visit again one day. Obrigado!

Everything is superb in this hotel, of course, except that what one expects at the end of the day from a hotel, is to be able to sleep. In our case, that was impossible due to the noise coming from the traffic on the road below our windows (room 310, I think, at the left of the building when facing Praça da Liberdade). We actually ended sleeping 3-4 hours at the quietest hours of the night. I would have expected from an Intercontinental, considering the price of the room, that such rooms exposed to this level of noise, would have been equipped with 4 glazed windows like one can find at hotel As Janelas Verdes in Lisbon (Heritage Group) where prices are 1/3 below this Intercontinental ones. I would have expected as well that receptionists in such a prestigious brand of hotel would be well trained enough to show some empathy beyond the “I am sorry” we got when we told her that we didn’t sleep of the night. Maybe we should have told her as well that the flush of our toilets was broken and that the cleaning lady had entered our room without knocking at 10am while I was in the bathroom. Well, my wife was fully dressed, then no big deal, however, at this level of price again, this is not normal. But honestly, we didn’t bother mentioning, she couldn’t care less… And that was a big mistake. If I could have got the steam off with some king of guest manager the day we left instead of keeping that on my liver for a week, maybe I wouldn’t be so upset today.
Now, to be fair, the lobby of the hotel is beautiful, the bar is extremely cosy, staff is professional though more ceremonious than caring except the concierge who is really friendly, the breakfast is very good though not exceptional, and the rooms show every sign of luxury, with a splendid bathroom and perfect bedding. However, for me, the real luxury is to be able to sleep, and this was missing.

We have been impressed by the quality of the service. The person at the check in was very welcoming. Gave us very good suggestions for restaurants and touristic attractions nearby. The room was lovely. The bed very comfortable. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay and indeed we did.
The hotel location is excellent at walking distance from all attractions and restaurants. We loved our stay in Porto and we highly recommend the Intercontinental to anyone visiting this lovely town.

Just back from very short stay at this hotel. The hotel location is fantastic. Most of the staff are excellent. Bedroom we were given was absolutely beautiful. Fantastic toiletries. Beautiful bedlinen and pillows etc...Breakfast was okay. I will definitely return to this hotel. The concierge were absolutely amazing and an asset to this premises

Intercontinental Porto was perfect for our stay! Centrally located and elegant appearance. The check-in staff and concierges were very helpful. We enjoyed breakfast and drinks in the bar late at night. Rooms were clean and well-appointed. Would recommend highly.

I hold the highest levels of status at three other chains while not having status at IHG in many years. However, I think the level of service that I received at the IC Porto equals or exceeds most stays that I have recently had at any of the other chains where I have status.
I was given a very nice room upgrade without asking, the concierge was the best that I have encountered in many years and the overall attitude of everybody in the hotel was excellent.
I think I am going to work on getting my IHC status back.

No lado oposto à Igreja dos Congregados situa-se o Palácio das Cardosas. O actual Hotel Intercontinental, um antigo convento que alojou os Padres de Santo Elói (Os Lóios), chegados ao Porto em 1490, por se dedicarem a actividades hospitalares, eram conhecidos por "Seringas". Depois do Cerco do Porto, o convento foi vendido ao brasileiro Manuel Cardoso dos Santos, um contratador de tabaco, com a obrigação de fazer fachada para a Praça Nova (hoje Praça da Liberdade.

The hotel was luxurious and beautiful! Our room was immaculate and lovely with a great view. The hotel was well situated in the city. The concierge staff gave us perfect advice where to eat, visit, etc. They truly made our stay memorable. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! It is gorgeous (inside and out) and very near the train station/metro and walkable to the river. We stayed here for the Sao Joao festival and the staff thought of every detail. We highly recommend it.

サンベント駅からすぐで、観光地へも近く便利で、綺麗で清潔、豪華なホテルです。朝食も美味しく良かったです。ただ、ケーキやワインなどの無料サービスが着いていたのですが、サービスされていた時にたまたま部屋に戻ったので気付きました。チェックイン時に詳しく説明があると良かったです。

We had a great time for 5 nights in Porto. The hotel is situated very centrally so it makes it easy to pop in and out to rest up or recharge phones etc. Think more USB ports are needed in the rooms for charging devices. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you. Concierge services excellent. We also took our Apple TV and the hotel wee very accommodating on connection and making sure everything worked for us. Overall a great experience
