Incredible place for surfing and a lovely holiday. Surf instructors are all really passionate about improving your surfing and giving you a great time. The staff running the lodge are so friendly and nothing you can ask is too much bother. Can not recommend highly enough.

I’ve just got back from my third stay with Tiny Whale. Each time has been fantastic. The new lodge is above and beyond what I’d been expecting - beautiful and clearly purpose built for the perfect experience. The surf instructors are the best I’ve had; great teachers, patience of saints and always a laugh. They really take the time to focus on your individual learning needs and even help you find things you can work on when you’re not able to get to the water post-holiday! The accommodation is stunning and the food fantastic. Couldn’t ask for more

The best surf and yoga lodge ever!
I’ve been to a few surf and yoga retreats, but this one by far beats all the rest! The entire team members are simply wonderful, warm and extremely caring, the accommodation is beautiful, the surf instructors go out of their way to offer the highest quality of surf coaching and guiding, the yoga is both healing and invigorating, the food is simply amazing and the vibes are extremely chill!
Thanks to Tak, Chris, Shaf and Anna for all their good vibes and energy, both in the water and during on land training (surf skating and theory sessions), Tak I’m so grateful for having spent a week with you and the progress you have guided me to!
A warm thanks to Miri who’s deep and inspiring yoga practice left me speechless after each session. I will carry your words of wisdom with me and hope to continue on the path you’ve lead us on!
Katie, thank you so much for putting your heart and love into your cooking, and for spoiling us with your delicious recipes! I’ll keep an eye out for your book (you should definitely create one!)
Jess, Hannah, Flo, thank you for taking such good care of us all and for making sure that we were at home at your lodge!
This week was one of the best in a long time, thank you all for being there for us and I look forward to seeing you soon next year!
Warm hugs to all,
Rim

This place is amazing!
I felt so welcome when I first got there, the villa is stunning.
The surf instructors are amazing and so passionate, with a ratio to 3 students to 1 instructor for most of the time.
I was a beginner when I arrived but leaving I now have the knowledge and confidence to go out on my own and surf.
A great place just to go on your own, chill out and learn to surf.

This has honestly been such an incredible week, surpassing my high expectations in every way. Definitely book yoga it was the best yoga experience I’ve ever had and it’s the perfect compliment to surfing. The accommodation, food, and surf lessons were all five stars!
The surf instructors really cared about the progress we would make, taking a really personalised and tailored approach encouraging whilst also really making sure we had the right technique and were comfortable in the water. Out of the water, the lessons were also fantastic.
The accommodation was beautiful! I was in a shared room and the max occupancy is three people per room and bathroom, the beds were insanely comfy.
Food was incredible and plentiful, I was never once left wanting anything, I was worried I would need to buy snacks to keep myself going but I was wrong. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were perfect and the afternoon tea cakes and canapés were a delight!
Thank you Tiny Whale Surf Lodge for such a memorable experience!

Absolutely loved staying at Tiny Whale this week. The accommodation, food and equipment are all very good, but the staff set Tiny Whale apart from the rest. They’re all legends, both in the lodge and the surfing team. Will definitely be coming back!

Had an amazing week at the Tiny Whale Lodge, I loved the accommodation and met some really great people to spend the week with. As a beginner I can't believe how much my surf progressed throughout the week, so a big thanks to all the instructors!! See you next year :)

Overall a poor experience. I did not enjoy the service as much as i thought i would. Did not expect to be in a dorm, everywhere throughout my reservation it said shared room, which i pictured shared with one or two other people. I couldnt change after that due to the lodge being full already. When I booked the lodge transfer was included in the price, however later they redid their prices and turned out i had to pay additional for airport transfer. The staff seemed distracted with the closing of the lodge and i dont feel they took proper care of us. When we went to the town for dinner and drinks noone made sure we came back safely or even provided us with a taxi number.
In my opinion there should always be someone from the staff in the lodge, this wasnt the case. One day some people came to install dishwashers and we couldnt find anyone from the staff to help them...There should be provided lunch even for people who skip surfing lessons and stay at the lodge. I did not enjoy surfing so id rather stay at the lodge some days and even though i have paid for lunch, i didnt get any. At the final bbq, there were a lot of strangers in the lodge, it seems like the staff brought friends over for free dinner. These people also got way more food than we did.
Im however very happy with Miri, the yoga instructor, she is an amazing and lovely person who is so genuinely great!
One thing that made no sense to me was that the lodge was filled with orange trees full of fruit and yet we were served some cheap cartoon orange juice.
The place itself is nice and has big potential but it needs to be managed by people who care more.
The surfing part, as a beginner i did not enjoy the surfing. The waves were brutal, too fast, too strong current. The wetsuits look and smell disgusting. The shirts we had on top were always sandy and damn, and some of them were in poor conditions. At some times it felt like a military camp when we had to drag and carry those heavy surf boards for a long time down stairs to the beach.
The SUP could have been an amazing experience. It was so beautiful and the action itself was really pleasant, we saw such beauty. HOWEVER we went quite far on one way and then we had to go back with no break in between. On the way back we had some wind and at some points it got scary. You row and row and if u stop, the wind blows u backwards and it is basically row or drift back. The guys helped us ofc but we should have had a break on one of the many nice secluded beaches. Have a little break, enjoy the water and the sand and sun, not row all the time. It ruined the experience.

It's a really cozy place, the tents are pretty cool and you can have a nice tine hanging out there.
BUT: Surfing is always at the same beach. You drive about 40min to the beach with a van, afterwards you have to carry the huge softboards for about 20min to a far away surfspot- many other schools have better spots at that beach with less walking distance.
The surf instructors are not in the water with you, they just tell you from the beach what you should do- not really good for learning.
The group in that week was more than 30 people, so everbody could surf 2x90min, which is strange, cause you start from the lodge at 9am and return at 6pm.
Dinner is quite expensive at the lodge (17,5-20€), so either you go to town or eat there, cause the fridge is only for staff use.
Last but not least the lodge is not in Lagos, it's by taxi about 10min outside between fields and it costs in the evening 12€ and returning at night is about 8€.

I slept in a Tipi and was on the Roxy 2.0 Intermediate Week ...
+ The lodge is truly beautiful, with a nice pool and common-area, a garden with orange, clementine and lemon trees (fruits were ripe in March, so you just go ahead and pick your snack from a tree in front of your door - awesome!)
+ The Tipi was really cosy, with a real bed and several blankets, standing height, rain and wind proof and just beautiful. If you get cold quickly they even have heating-blankets
+ Water for the shower is solarpowered (- this means it can be cool, if it has rained a day or two, but then there are other showers in the house that still have warm water ;) )
+ People in the lodge are very helpful and accommodating and doing their best to help you out with whatever you need
+ The surf is good, there are several beaches in 30-minutes-driving-distance
+ Food is great, there are pancakes for breakfast and the beach-lunches usually contain a healthy, but quite carb-focused saladmix (Pasta, Couscous..)
+ Equipment is new and in otherwise in good conditions, large selection of boards for all levels (all Torq or NSP though)
+ The Yoga-Lessons are lovely and Miri is a really nice and relaxed teacher. I really got the most of my surfing, because of nice stretchy evening-sessions. Going to miss this here at home!
- only downside: The lodge is a 10 minute drive from Lagos, about 1 hour walk, we hitchhiked though, which worked like a charm :) Taxis cost about 8-13 Euros depending on the hour ;)
- also: if you sleep in the Tipi, bring ear plugs, because the animals from the nearby farms wake at sunrise - and they are loud!
One word to the Roxy Week 2.0 with Ines (GoodSurfGoodLove): This was the best surf training I ever had in my 8 years of on and of surfing. She has a lot of tips and tricks, is always close to you in the water, pushes you (mentally and into waves, if she has to ;) ) and makes you feel safe even in larger conditions. She even brought a friend down, to take pictures of us. However you have to put in the work, if you really want to profit from her training: Come prepared and be fit (Paddeltraining!).
I absolutely recommend this Package for girls who already feel comfortable paddeling out and paddeling for waves. You will be riding down the line and trimming up and down after this week for sure. If you still are a little afraid, maybe this package is not perfect for you, because Ines focusses on Catching waves, not the paddel out.

Very nice lodge with lots of space, orange and lemon trees in the garden, cosy tipis and very friendly staff. Food is really good too! Only some minutes away from Lagos. Surf equipment is new and of good quality. Overall highly recommended!

Love the atmosphere here, really friendly staff and good food. Top quality yoga and surf lessons also which was my reason for visiting. As a solo traveller I had the perfect balance of alone time and good company.
On the down side if you decide to hang out at the lodge during the day there are no staff around and no way of getting lunch so you have to get a taxi into town. The bar closes at 10 in the evening so no way of getting drinks after that!

This place has nice accomodation but is really expensive.
It's far away from Lagos so you have to take a taxi all the time and you can't cook here so that sucks a bit...
There are cheaper alternatives in Lagos itself.
