The Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) Av. Brasília, 1400-038 Lisboa, Portugal is a medieval fortified tower that was built circa 1514/1520 and in 1983, it was classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The tower was constructed on the Northern bank of the River Tagus, as both a gateway to the Estuary & City as well as a part of their City fortifications. Some ancient cannon can still be seen today in Belém Tower with barrels addressing the gun-ports of the Tower.

It's a 500 year old building, not much to see inside, apart from fire cannons and some tiny window views.. It's busy on first Sundays of each month, as its free to Portuguese Citizen card holders. It's not that cheap for what it has to offer from inside, unless you enjoy visiting old historic buildings. If you have a drone, will get a great shot with the water around..

Belem Tower is well worth the visit if you are catching sites throughout the Lisbon. We went there because of the historical connection between my in-laws and Belem, Brazil. It it a pleasant piece of history. There are vendors in the plaza nearby as well as water and ice cream vendors and public toilets which are immaculately maintained.

La torre de Belem da l'idea di piccolo, compatto, ma nel suo complesso è un piccolo gioiello che assieme al Monastero dos Jerónimos (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) sono la visita turistica più importante di Lisbona. Non a caso sono stati, nel 1983, dichiarati Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'UNESCO. Suggestiva la posizione che si presta per delle foto romantiche se siete in coppia.

A Torre de Belém é um dos monumentos mais expressivos da cidade de Lisboa.
Localiza-se na margem direita do rio Tejo, na freguesia de Belém, onde existiu outrora a praia de Belém.
Inicialmente era cercada pelas águas em todo o seu perímetro. Progressivamente foi envolvida pela praia, até se incorporar hoje em terra firme.
O monumento destaca-se pelo nacionalismo implícito, visto que é todo rodeado por decorações do Brasão de armas de Portugal, incluindo inscrições de cruzes da Ordem de Cristo .
Nas janelas de baluarte; tais características remetem principalmente à arquitectura típica de uma época em que o país era uma potência global (a do início da Idade Moderna)...
Classificada como Património Mundial pela UNESCO desde 1983, foi eleita como uma das Sete maravilhas de Portugal em 7 de julho de 2007.

Belém Tower
Officially the Tower of Saint Vincent.
⚫It is a 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon , Portugal.
⚫The structure is composed of a bastion and a four-storey tower at the height of 30-metre (98.4 ft).
⚫The fortress was built to guard the entrance to Lisbon's harbor, it also served as a light house.
⚫The Belem Tower was the starting point for many of the voyages of discovery, It is a symbol for Europe's Age of Discoveries.
⚫When it was built, the tower would have been much farther from the shore than it is today but the earthquake of 1755 shifted the river's course, and in the 19th century the land on the north bank was reclaimed, making the river narrower.
⚫The Belém Tower is today one of the most popular tourist attractions in Lisbon.
⚫Since 1983, the tower has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

La torre si trova nel quartiere omonimo ed è vicina al monumento delle scoperte , al monastero dos Jeronimos e al ponte 25 aprile ; quando fu costruita ne l 1515 era nel mezzo del fiume Tago e doveva proteggere la sua foce ed il vicino porto di Restelo ; la torre , ancora in buono stato , si sviluppa su 3 piani , con molte torrette di esplorazione e si può raggiungere da piazza del commercio con il tram 15 o il bus 728 ; è uno dei simboli di Lisbona .

It's only 20' from lisbon and you can get there by tram n15 from comercio square. the ticket is only 5 euros and after that you can go to the archeological museum or the monastery

Não entrei, mas por fora me pareceu carente de cuidados. Apenas uma área aberta onde deveria haver uma praça com jardins, eu creio, no qual pude observar mendigos dormindo em bancos. No entanto, o complexo todo ao lado do rio é muito agradável.

Lizbon'un Belem bölgesinde bulunan simge turistik durağıdır Belem Kulesi. Torre de Belem'in içine giremesem de yanına kadar gitmek çok keyifliydi.
Belem Kulesi 16.yüzyıl başlarında, Kral I.Manuel tarafından Portekizli ünlü kaşif Vasco da Gama'ya ithafen yaptırılmıştır. 30 metre yükseklikteki kulenin inşaat tarihleri 1515-1529 yılları arasıdır.
Yapılış amaçlarından biri de Targus Nehri'ni korumak olduğu söylenen Belem Kulesi, başlarda daha içi kısımda kalıyorken, depremlerden sonra nehir yatağının değişmesiyle kıyıda kalmıştır. Kulenin hapishane olarak da kullanıldığı dönemler olmuştur. Kuleyi gezmek için biraz sıra beklemeniz gerekebilir ama buna değecektir.
Bu şahane kule 1983 yılında UNESCO Dünya Mirası Listesi'ne dahil edilmiştir

Amazing tower on the sea. Suggested to visit it during sunset on good, clear days to enjoy it at its best. Maybe while eating a pastel de nata! Another suggestion is to take a walk from the 25 de Abril bridge to the Belém Tower to enjoy the landscape and the view.

Lugar ícone pelo simbolismo histórico, fácil acesso e localizado num lugar privilegiado junto ao Tejo ,numa bonita praça e perto do bairro Belém. Fica perto do monumento do descobrimento também. It is a lovely place to visit. It is very beautiful and you can take very nice pictures. I didn't pay to Go in. If you go early in the morning you can have more space and time to enjoy the view. Later It can get crowded, but still worthy. It is located close to other site sighting, plazas and restaurants.

Башня имеет такой изысканный вид, что никак не верится, что она была то пороховым складом, то тюрьмой, то таможней. Кстати, ее построили в честь открытия Васко да Гамой морского пути в Индию в начале 16 века, и до сих пор она чудесно выглядит. Рядом с башней тоже очень красиво: можно гулять по набережной вдоль реки, отдыхать в парке, а потом пойти и на всю катушку насладиться внутренним убранством и внешним великолепием монастыря Жеронимуш. Он буквально через дорогу.

Though called a tower, Belem Tower is a rather short one with 3 levels in it. At any given point of time 120 people are let inside the tower. Mostly its 60 pre-booked tickets/Lisboa card holders and 60 drop-ins. Like most historic towers, this too is not wheelchair friendly and has a spiral staircase to climb it. The view from atop the tower is awesome with a stunning view of the 25 Abril Bridge and the huge sculpture of Jesus Christ! The 2nd floor has a unique thing that shouldn't be missed - a sculpture of a Rhinoceros.

Great for that selfie opportunity. The tower itself is beautiful, set on the shore and isolated by a single bridge. It was stunning to go at sunset and see all the people sitting eating ice cream and relaxing. The tower itself is grand and the story is nice as well, lots of people there trying to sell tat as usual but we just ignored them, we also didn’t go inside as the line was far longer than we would have waited for.

One of the museums - landmarks in Lisbon! Must visit it. Ticket price is six euros (free with Lisboa card and priority pass also). It was built between1515 - 1521 from Emmanouel the First. During the years, it had a lot of different uses. Castle, Prison, Weapon depot etc. It is near to the rest of Belem attractions.. so choose to visit them alltogether in one day. As in the castle it is permitted to remain only 80 visitors, you may find big queues (half an hour waiting) and is better to buy the Lisboa card to avoid them and have priority to enter the building.

It's a nice tower on the beach. Very historic and you can enter the place but the queue was way too long. We skipped it and took pictures from outside. Heard from other people who entered that it wasn't worth to pay to go inside. The outside view is more than enough.

An amazing place, a slice of the rich Portuguese history. A fortification tower built on River Tagus, to guard Lisbon and watch out for any potential attack. The tower is now almost 500 years old and is perfectly preserved. An icon of Lisbon and is a must visit even if you don't have time to go in, you can just look at it from afar and admire the beauty. No wonder it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Ooit het tolhuis en onderdeel van de verdedigingswerk van de stad is het leuk om te bezichtigen. Men heeft een mooi uitzicht op de Taag en de stad. Raad aan van een "Lisboa card" aan te kopen bespaard veel aan wachttijd bezorgd en voor dat je gratis museums binnen mag, ok tram ,metro, bus trein en overzet boot.

Costruita nel XVI secolo per completare il complesso sistema difensivo, la Torre di Belem è oggi patrimonio Unesco. Costruita in pietra grigio perla, nelle giornate di sole risplende per contrasto tra il blu dell'acqua e l'azzurro del cielo. Molto bella all'esterno, forse la visita all'interno non vale la pena di fare la lunga coda che caratterizza l'entrata.

무료라서 줄이 엄청 길어 시간 낭비가 무척 심해요.(일요일)
발견탑은 리스보아카드 있어도 추가 요금을 내기 때문에 사람이
별로 많지 않아요.
[제로니무스 수도원] 우선 들르고 그 옆 [해양박물관(할인)] -> [마차박물관] -> [아주다 궁전] -> 그 아래[보타닉 공원] 마지막으로 [발견탑] [벨렘탑] 순의 관람이 좋을 것 같다고 생각했습니다.
그리고 시간이되시면 산타아폴리니아역 위쪽에 위치한 [아줄레르 국립 타일 박물관(무료)] 추천 드립니다.

A Torre de Belém esta localizada na Freguesia de Belém - Lisboa.
Antigamente sua função era de defesa no rio Tejo, mas através do tempo foi perdendo sua função, e hoje é uma atração turística para quem visita Lisboa.
Foi classificada no ano de 1983 como Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO, atraindo milhares de turista.
Se você estiver em Lisboa, não deixe de visitar esta bela estrutura.
Há transporte público (Ônibus e Metro superfície) próximos.

A have-to-visit site in Belém, a short uber ride away from downtown Lisbon. The fort goes back to the late middle ages. Now, although it's military function is no more, it still adorns the Portuguese coast beautifully and stands as a reminder of the age of exploration. Given narrow staircases inside the building, however, I would not suggest the site to anyone with mobility issues.

It is very windy today and it is my first day in Lisbon. It is great here. All people are very friendly and helpful. The Belem tower looks great, even at stormy weather.

Bien sûr que la tour est belle, mais,il est inadmissible que cela puisse être aussi sale!!

We saw Belém tower on land and by boat. Both times it was a delight. Great for photos, we didn’t go in (as it was closed due to corona crisis) but were told by a local that we weren’t missing out. The tower survived the earthquake so original 15th century monument.

Padrisimo, me encanto, está a la orilla del estuario. Les recomiendo que vayan al atardecer y tendrán fotos muy padres, a un lado también hay un museo y un lugar donde conmemoran a los fallecidos navales. Llegas en bus desde el centro de lisboa. Coman los famosos panes de Belén y si van por la noche recuerdan que refresca un poco

This is a reasonably priced attraction and it has really nice views/photo opportunities of the river and waterfront. It's a VERY tough climb for anyone who will have trouble on stairs, though. Well regulated up/down system of red and green lights makes the stair traffic manageable. Video about the tower was out on the day we visited, otherwise it was great.

Iconic tower in Lisboa. Very popular with tourist. Expect line to get in.
Located in the coast line, it has a beautiful promenade with a few food vendors, the one I love is the wine truck, enjoying a wine contemplating the sea with the tower on the right side it was amazing.

Είναι από τα μέρη με τις περισσότερες φωτογραφίες στην περιοχή και όχι άδικα αφού είναι ένα μικρό στολίδι. Είναι επισκέψιμο, το εισιτήριο δεν είναι τόσο ακριβό και μετά μπορείτε να αράξετε στο γρασίδι για πικ νικ ή απλά για να απολαύσετε τον ήλιο. Φυσικά να πάτε και στα γειτονικά μνημεία και μην ξεχάσετε να φάτε παστέλ από το πιο γνωστό μαγαζί της περιοχής που ισχυρίζεται ότι έχει μυστική συνταγή για την παρασκευή τους.

Photographers!! Belém is absolutely beautiful during the sunrise. I had about 2 days in Lisboa and chose to wake up early to shoot this against the sunrise. It did not disappoint!
Did not get a chance to go in but the tower is so picturesque, just taking a few photos of it were worth it!

A Torre de Belém é um dos monumentos mais célebres da Europa. Daqui partiram as embarcações com que Portugal quis dar novos mundos ao mundo. Atualmente, é um emblema da gloriosa “Era dos Descobrimentos”, liderada pelos portugueses. No entanto, quando foi construída, o seu principal objetivo era proteger a cidade costeira de Lisboa dos ataques dos inimigos. Posteriormente, foi usado até como uma prisão política antes de se tornar o marco histórico que é hoje.
