Old house with history, creaky wooden floors, a sun-drenched terrace and nice views over to the botanical gardens and the university. It might not suit those who need modern appliances (I had my own bathroom but it was detached) but for those preferring some character it is excellent. There is a good breakfast and the staff are friendly. It's an easy walk (though a hilly one - everything is in this town) to the 19th-century part of town or the medieval streets just beyond them. As most streets don't seem to have signs you may need to ask several people for directions if you don't have GPS.

Kleine sehr gepflegte Villa auf einem Hügel von Coimbra.
Gutes parken auf der Straße vor dem Haus. Gut Englisch sprechendes Personal, die die ganze Stadt erklären.
Wir hatten eine große Suite mit großem Bad. Alles sauber und gemütliche Betten. Nachts sehr ruhig.
Man kann schnell in die Stadt laufen, zurück vielleicht ein Taxi...
Frühstück war mit Obst, Müsli und Brötchen ausreichend.

근방이 굉장히 조용하고 깨끗해요
역에서는 걸어서 가기엔 거리가 멀고, 언덕에 있어서 짐이 있으면 택시타는걸 추천드려요.
숙소 근처에 작은 슈퍼가 있지만 일찍 문 닫습니다
스탭분들이 무척 친절합니다~
천장이 높고 난방시설이 없어서 조금 추웠어요.

We liked the cosy feeling of The Luggage (even though the name doesn’t convey cosy!). It is reasonably priced although we found out we would have received the 15% winter discount if we had booked with them directly — disappointed this wasn’t passed on by Hotels.com. Our room for 2 nights was a double on the top (2nd floor) with a private bathroom in the hall, meaning a bathroom dedicated to our room with us holding the key. This setup was less convenient than a bathroom in the room but was okay, and there was only one other room on this floor with its own outside bathroom. The hotel / hostel is well located, just at a short walk to Coimbra centre and the Universty. We also appreciated the off-street parking. And finally, the complimentary breakfast is really quite good. The Luggage would definitely be our choice for a return visit to Coimbra.

Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa, es un hostel adorable perfecto para estudiantes y familias. Las camas son muy cómodas y los baños muy limpios (las duchas funcionan muy bien con agua caliente), además goza de una terraza con unas vistas impresionantes de Coimbra. No se pierdan el desayuno, completísimo y delicioso!! Además el encagardo es muy amable y atento para todo lo que necesiten.

Super place, better than some 3 star hotels i visited. Only the coffee with the otherwise excellent breakfast is terrible. Everything else is lovely. Even had space to repair my bicycle.

Not what we were expecting. Doesn't seem to be able to decide whether it's a hotel or a hostel and ends up being neither. On the plus side, it is clean and the staff are friendly .

Room was really nice and had an amazing view of the city. Bed was really comfy and breakfast was tasty. Staff were friendly and there was a very cute cat. Building was beautiful. Only problem we had was that it says check in is from 10am on hotels.com however check in is not actually till 2pm!

Precioso hotel con historia. Trato amable, adsequible, burn ubicado (cerca de la Universidad) y muy limpio. El desayuno venia incluido y estaba riquísimo (es Bufet). Lo unico es que reservamos una habitación para 4 y el baño era privado pero estaba aparte, fuera de la habitación aunque nos dijeron que estaban pendientes de que les aprobarán una reforma para incluirlo dentro de la habitación.

Room was large and spacious, designed in old fashioned way, very romantic. Very comfortable bed and excellent breakfasts.The location was only 10 mins walk from the old town. Fabulous city with lovely atmosphere.Recommend apartment with terrace to enjoy the balmy evenings.Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Bellissimo ostello situato all'interno di una vecchia villa. Camere comode e pulite, provviste di condizionatore. Docce e bagni in comune misti, ma comunque puliti e numerosi, tali da non portare ad attese.

A destacar el edificio y la ubicación del mismo, son super chulas las diferentes estancias y zonas comunes, decoración recuperada y con mucho gusto. Por otro lado indicaban parking gratuito y tuve que aparcar en la calle en zona de estacionamiento regulado. La ventana de nuestra habitación entraba agua y el servicio en el desayuno un poco descuidado, no había vasos, cuchillos, las mesas sin recoger... Mejorando esos detalles no es un mal sitio.

Das war mal eine Überraschung.Ein tolles Hostel .Die Zimmer riesig und erst das Bad....wir waren begeistert mega sauber eine echt tolle Villa und der Ort ist sehr schön und die Menschen hier super entspannt.Frühstück war auch gut.kann man sehr weiter empfehlen

We only stayed one night in Comibra, but the suite we stayed in was amazing. The view from our room was beautiful, and we also enjoyed the views during the provided breakfast, which was very nice as well. The staff were very helpful at pointing out things to do around town and helped to book us a Fado concert. Would highly recommend!

Hostal precioso por fuera y limpio por dentro. Todos los espacios son suficientemente amplios como para sentirte muy cómoda. Tiene una terraza maravillosa en la que poder comer tranquilamente con buenas vistas. El desayuno es muy variado y los panes y croissants horneados allí mismo al instante. La situación para poder ver cosas es muy buena, un pelín alejado de la estación de buses podéis tomar un taxi hasta allí y son unos 5€, sino 20-25 minutos andando. Se puede dejar la maleta más tiempo

El sitio era precioso. Las habitaciones y baños eran amplios y estaban limpios. El desayuno fue abundante. En general era espacioso y nos permitieron usar la cocina para preparar la cena. El personal era amable. La ubicación era como a unos 20 minutos andando hasta la universidad. Repetiría estancia allí.

I stayed in a 6 bed dorm room in June. The hostel wasn’t busy; there was only one other person in my dorm room. The kitchen is fully equipped to make your own meals. There’s a few common spaces include the dinning area and a tv room. The breakfast is fantastic. This isn’t a typical hostel breakfast; I assume because there’s also a hotel section of the accommodation. Staff bake croissants every morning. There’s loads of fresh fruit available. The coffee and tea machine with lattes and cappuccinos are available all day. The staff were helpful with sightseeing. The only downside is this is a bit of a walk to the city centre (20mins to the train station).

We loved this hotel. We were nervous because we hadnt stayed in a hostel in a long time, but it ended up being one of our favorites in a two week Portugal stay. The architecture is elegant and the design is modern, very tastefully done. The service was fabulous, as was the breakfast. I would highly recommend the Luggage Inn and Hostel.

Great breakfast, comfortable beds, great value for money. One thing that could be better: could have some curtains in the beds, as the personal reading light is quite strong and when someone turns it on, the whole room is lit.

O piso de madeira faz um barulho incômodo e um dos quartos não tinha aquecedor. No entanto, a localização, os espaços e a beleza da decoração compensam os pontos negativos. Excelente custo benefício.

Super clean, GORGEOUS building, wonderful breakfast. Super helpful staff. The only thing that concerned me was that, by mistake I went to the wrong floor thinking it was nice and was able to open the door to a different room with my key room . What worries me is that I think all rooms, or at least some of the for sure, have the same key.

L’emplacement, le calme, la gentillesse du personnel qui nous propose un circuit touristique. Réserve également pour nous. Cet hôtel est très bien décoré avec un mélange d’ancien et de nouveau. Les chambres sont spacieuses. Très beau. Les déjeuners sont complets et variés avec œufs, fruits, pains, croissants. Très satisfaits.

Das Bad war zwar privat aber man musste über den Gang laufen um zum Bad zu gelangen. Positiv war, dass das Bad einen hübschen Blick hatte, dass Zimmer (4-5 Betten) hatte kein Fenster aus dem man rausgucken könnte. Es gab lediglich ein Oberlicht. Das fanden wir wirklich enttäuschend aber es mag andere Zimmer geben, die besser sind. Das Frühstück war toll und auch die Umgebung vom Hotel fanden wir schön. Ca. 50 - 100 Meter vom Hotel entfernt gibt es kostenlose Parkplätze an der Straße. Da war noch viel frei, denke nicht, dass es mal keinen Parkplatz gibt.

The building is amazing and a short distance from the student centre, away from the touristy downtown area. Walking distance to the beautiful botanical gardens and university, with plenty of great bars surrounding the Placa de Republica. The free breakfast was incredible!

This is the best hostel I have ever been to. Beautiful house, excellent large bedrooms, modern and clean facilities. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Five minutes walk to Praça da República and ten to the University. The receptionist is also an absolute star.

Everything is good and clean.

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and our room was gorgeous. Would absolutely recommend to stay here if you visit Coimbra, it’s approximately 15 minutes walk to the old town but do ask for directions if you need to avoid the steepest climbs.

Es war top. Bei der Ankunft haben wir eine Karte der Stadt und viele praktische Tipps bekommen. Auch Eintrittskarten für ein Fado Konzert konnten wir dort kaufen.Bar sehr gut!

Very stylish historic building in a lovely area. Signage discrete so make sure you download your map. Staff graciously showed us where to store our muddy bikes and shared local sights and nearby restaurants. Beautiful inside with a lovely sunny breakfast area. Be prepared for lots of stairs. We were in the attic on a Saturday night at the end of term so the music and voices of the celebrating students echoed up the hills to our windows till 6 am. We sleep well but if you don’t, ask for the other side of the building or bring ear plugs!

Casona portuguesa adaptada como hotel/hostal espectacular. Incluye un desayuno muy completo y las instalaciones son muy nuevas ya que está remodelado. El lugar es muy bonito y el servicio es excelente. Las habitaciones y baños son muy limpios y acogedores. Recomiendo mucho quedarse en este lugar.

Very nice place with amazing rooms. I didn't stay in just yet, but I visit it and it seems delightful. The suite has an amazing view of the city. Very nice for brides as the pictures end up really cool.

If you’re looking for something different for a change, this place would be a pleasant staff. The staff could not be more pleasant and service oriented. A few reasons for not giving 5 on 5 are lack of shelve in shower to place soap and shampoos. Cleanliness in bedroom could have been slightly better, but no major issues. A bit of a walk to restaurants and shops. Tv channel options were good and wi fi was excellent. No elevator. Overall, a very charming place.

El hotel es muy bonito, nos alojaron en una buardilla con el baño fuera lo que tuvo su gracia xq la vista del pueblo desde el baño era increíble, el personal encantador incluido el gatito. La localización a 7-8 minutos andando del casco antiguo por sus pintorescas calles, con las recomendaciones del personal del hotel llegas sin problemas y no te pierdes nada importante. El desayuno sencillo pero muy bueno y servido con mucho atención.... En resumen vamos a volver y lo recomendaremos siempre.....

Struttura molto bella e arredamento molto maschile. L'eleganza ha il suo fascino maschile nei decori e richiami grigio, marrone e nero, ma l'accoglienza lascia molto a desiderare in termini di disponibilità verso una peregrina come me. All'ingresso non sono stata accolta bene, e neanche durante il check-in sono stata inviata a sedermi tanto meno a privarmi del peso dello zaino, nonostante chi mi ha aveva ricevuto era un uomo. L'informazione e richieste d'aiuto sono state soddisfatte in parte. Ad una richiesta di aiuto sono stata mandata all'ufficio accoglienza turistica mentre ad altri ospiti sono stati evidenziati punti di rilievo turistico e prenotazioni per visite fatte in albergo, direttamente dall'albergo. I bagni sono carini ma sono davvero pochi per il numero di ospiti e divisioni dei generi. Sia le docce, che i bagni sono unisex, quindi niente privacy. La pulizia è un altro punto dolente, che con piccoli accorgimenti si può migliore. La colazione è ottima e c'è una vista pazzesca dell'Università di Coimbra, dell'acquedotto della città e delle carceri che sembra un monumento storico. La cucina, nonostante mi avessero informata al check-in che era di uso comune non lo era affatto. Solo il personale dell'albergo poteva usufruire. È presente un mini bar e una sala relax. Esiste uno spazio esterno che in questo momento dell'anno nonostante faccia caldo non è utilizzabile ed è parecchio sporco. Per il resto l'albergo ha dei vantaggi che non posso dire che non sono vantaggiosi, come la vicinanza del centro e della Piazza Repubblica. Lo spazio esterno. La meravigliosa colazione occidentale ed europea e l'atmosfera elegante con una gattina che riempie di fascino questo ambiente poco friendly.

The Personnel was warm, welcoming, and helpful. However the contracted room was on the third floor and had an external bathroom so they strongly suggested that we take a second floor room. Since there is no elevator and minimal help getting in and out, we agreed to take the much more comfortable and spacious room. However it did cost 91 Euros instead of the 49 we expected. We found it difficult to get around from this residential location, but taxes are inexpensive and available. Buffet breakfast was excellent and again the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Just a perfect place to stay when you are in Coimbra. Large and comfortable room, clean bathroom and showers and outstanding breakfast. When I was there it was a bit empty so I didn’t get to meet too many people, but the location is super close (100m) to the local student’s nightlife center which is awesome.

I recommend this place very much! The house is beautifull, everything is clean and tidy, the location is great. Breakfast included and very helpfull and nice staff.

Had a really good stay there. The hostel is clean, comfortable, really nice interior and has beautiful high walls. I'm really satisfied and would book this again if I go back to Coimbra.

생긴지 얼마안된건지 관리를 잘한건지
무튼 엄청 깔끔하고 침대도 엄청 편했다
조식도 정말 신성하고 맛있었다
호스텔안에 작은 바도 있어서 딱 밤에 맥주한잔하고싶은데 나가긴 귀챃고 한 내 마음을 잘 알아줬다 (ㅋㅋ)
근데 딱 한가지...
정말 코임브라역에서 한참 언덕의언덕을 올라야한다
배낭메고올라가는데 어깨고 다리고 ㅎㄷㅎㄷ

The hostel is located in an antique, fully renovated and very stylish villa! Depending on the type of room you choose, you get to sleep with a view over Coimbra. The design of the rooms is modern and chic! The breakfasts are lavish and fresh! The place feels more like a hotel, than a hostel! It has a spacious room for get-together and a bar with coffee and drinks! This hostel I consider the best place to stay in the whole of Portugal and I'd travel to Coimbra just in order to stay here again!

My stay at the Luggage Hotel was great. Its a beautiful house near restaurants, the university and town. I stayed for three nights and was most impressed by the professionalism of the staff, cleanliness of the hostel and its location.. The beds were very comfotable and the lockers were spacious. and the breakfast was very good wilt lots of choices. I was given a good map on arrival and the staff made recommendations of places to visit and things to do. I attended the Fado concert and it was wonderful!

We were driving from Lisbon and were going to get there late. The staff waited for us to arrive so we would not be left with a hotel to stay. The place was quite charming.

A trendy cozy and design hotel, close to everything. Personalized and warm welcome (lots of information presented about the city, its history and activities to do around...). Impeccable (late) service at the bar and for breakfast in the morning in the bright and warm solarium... (*Note that showers and toilet facilities are shared but all is clean and well maintain... And considering the price you pay, you will not find anything comparable in the neighbourhood.) The Luggage Hostel & Suites is the best place to be for your stay in Coimbra.

Ein wirklich wunderschönes Hotel, in dem man sich sofort wohl fühlt. Besonders der sehr gute Service und die wunderschön eingerichteten Zimmer sind hier hervorzuheben. Auch das Frühstück war sehr lecker mit großer Auswahl. Die Lage ist nicht ganz optimal, was jedoch in Coimbra kein allzugroßes Problem darstellt.

We had a very cosy modern-looking suite on the top floor, the bathroom was cleaned really really well and had some shower gels too. The hostel employee booked a fado for us. Probably best place in town

Notre chambre était petit, mais confortable. Nous avions une très belle vue de Coimbra.Le fait davoir lair climatisé était très aidant.Nous avons beaucoup appréciée loriginalité du décor. Les ouvres dart (cadres) dans les chambres donnent une touche très personnel.Dailleurs, nous pouvions faire nos visites à pied, ça nous prenait environs 15 min. pour nous rendre dans la vielle ville ou à luniversité. Le personnel de l’hôtel était très sympathique et nous donnait des excellents conseils pour des activités, où manger, le stationnement, etc.

Un luogo incantevole, centrale ma sereno, con personale veramente disponibile, camere ampie ed estremamente confortevoli. L'edificio è storico e si gode di una vista fantastica sulla città. Consigliatissimo.

Très belle endroit, tres grand tres propre . On s,y sent comme à la maison. Il est classe comme auberge de jeunesse mais ce nest pas vraiment cela. Nayez pas peur dy aller cest un endroit magnifique et très bien localisé pour la visite . De plus, de belles attentions car nous avons été surclassé. Une chambre très jolie.

The Luggage liegt super zentral und dennoch gibt es genügend Parkmöglichkeiten und eine recht ruhige Umgebung. Fußläufig sind alle Sehenswürdigkeiten innerhalb von wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Das wunderschöne und beeindruckende alte Stadthaus ist frisch renoviert, die Zimmer sind großzügig geschnitten und sehr geschmackvoll mit Blick für Design und Detail eingerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr nett, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Auch das mitinbegriffene Frühstück war sehr zufriedenstellend. Insgesamt hatten wir einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt und kommen gerne beim nächsten Mal wieder hier her. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt absolut.

Très bien nous avions réservé une chambre sans douche privée et nous avons eu une chambre avec douche privée sans supplément de prix ce qui était très appréciable

Wir hatten ein wundervolles Doppelzimmer, sehr geschmackvoll renoviert und eingerichtet. Vom Hotel aus kann man alle interessanten Bereiche der Stadt gut zu Fuß erreichen. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilft wo immer es geht. Insgesamt eine unbedingte Empfehlung!
