Beautiful place, 150mts from Praia da Batata, I got a private room instead of the shared bedrooms, 2 rabbits as pets, overall a pleasant stay, good price, you get recommendations of places to go and where to eat, recommended, we also got advice on how to get cheap prices to get plain tickets from Canada to Portugal, I will definitely come back to Portugal in the near future, I would suggest that you shop around to get prices for the kayak tour as in hostels or hotels, the tours will be 5 to 10 euros more expensive, and saving that amount helps for another breakfast.

Hugo and Melissa were so much fun and so accommodating, the room was clean and comfortable, the hostel itself is really quirky and cool (I love the bunnies!) and is really well located. Ask Hugo for a tour of the beaches and you won't be disappointed!

Had a similar experience to other reviewers. When my friend and I arrived the owner seemed very erratic. Always inserting himself into conversations and making uncomfortable comments. He seemed better on the last night of our stay, so maybe he was on something for the first couple of days. He also cancelled our booking on Hostelworld (like he did to others) so I can only assume he noticed our discomfort and wanted to avoid a negative review. The bedrooms were a bit dark but the upstairs deck was nice and the bathrooms and kitchen seemed clean.

Hugo and Melissa are great hosts. A family away from family indeed. They took great care of us and we really had a blast at the hostel. The pirate tunnel towers and the pub crawl was amazing. This is my best experience in any hostel. The atmosphere was so home like. I don't think it could have gotten any better.

Amazing place with an amazing atmosphere! If youre alive and want to make the most out of Lagos then spending time with the owner would be the perfect way to it! Best person i ever met in Portugal! (Love always since 93)

Hutch is a great hostel. Location is perfect, close to the party places but still nice and quiet when you do actually want to sleep or chill out. I wouldn’t take notice of the previous reviews, I stayed at the hostel and Hugo was a lovely guy. True gentleman with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend!!!

Okay-ish but definitely not the welcoming or activities filled hostel as described in other reviews in my experience

A cozy hostel ideally located close to the centre of the city and the beaches. The host, Hugo, is a cheerful person and you meet all kinds of amazing people to enjoy your stay in Lagos. Full equipped kitchen, clean toilets and a well designed common area. And yes, there is a bunny in the hostel you can play with.

Hugo and Melissa were amazing hosts, the hostel is in a good location, it has a great vibe to it and the hosts are always willing to go out of their way to help you during your stay with them. I highly recommend this hostel and I will defenitely book my stay here the next time I visit Lagos. The prices are also very good for what the building has to offer! There are also great activities to see the beauty of lagos! Alfredito!

Highly recommend NOT staying here. First of all, my friends arrived at 5:40pm to check-in. We knock on the door and the owner proceeds to open the door scolding us that we woke up the whole hostel and that check-in isn't until 4pm. Reality check...he was sleeping and wasn't aware of the time and that he had guests coming. Our beds were not prepared at all. Second, he made the most inappropriate and degrading remarks about women and our nationality. When we gave him our passports to check-in, word for word he said “now I can slap your booties because I'm your big papa” and openly objectified about previous female guests he had. He made us feel extremely uncomfortable and we did not feel safe staying here at all. Avoid at all costs. Just read a previous review about how he cancelled a guest's booking so they couldn't leave him a negative review on hostelworld...yup, he cancelled mine too.

Highly do not recommend staying here. 1. We arrived at the hostel at 5:30pm. Owner berated us for checking in too early and waking up half the hostel by knocking on the door (check in time clearly posted at entrance as 4pm). 2. Check in process took 2.5 hours. Beds were not prepared. 3. Owner made inappropriate comments to us regarding race and sex during check in. 4. He made objectifying comments about a previous solo female traveller who stayed there. 5. Cleanliness of room and bedsheets was questionable. Old underwear and belongings were found in one of the lockers. Overall the Owner's comments made us very uncomfortable during our 2 night stay. I would not recommend to any solo female travellers.

The owner was high a lot, drank our beers, didn’t run the cliff tour like he said he would (one of the main reason we booked this hostel) and made me feel very uncomfortable the entire time. He also cancelled our booking on Hostelworld after we left so we couldn’t review his property. FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, DO NOT STAY HERE!

The staff members are kind, but the place could do with a thorough cleaning. It's a good place if you are with friends. A bit strange to be here on your own.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Hosts were two of the nicest and most welcoming people I have ever met and will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time in Lagos. They give UNBELIEVABLE walking tours along the cliffs, beaches and caves of the Lagos coast. On these tours you will see and learn things that you would never experience with any other tour group and would never know unless you lived in Lagos your entire life. You really will not find a better experience elsewhere.
