Gorgeous place to visit, comfortable beds and easy access to a shared kitchen no matter where you're staying. The location is perfect if you're interested in hiking or just getting away from the busy city life for a while.

When I was about to book the reatreat there was only the first review here, and I got a bit sceptical as it's a lot of money you're transferring in advance. I wrote an e-mail and got a kind and thorough reply that made me loose any doubts - and oh boy, am I happy I didn't fall for slander. This beauty and sheer magic of this place (and the people owning it) can not be summed up in words. If you have the slightest interested in this kind of retreat then you absolutely have to go. It was my first time, but I cannot imagine a place better suited for this kind of thing. The positive effects on my life afterwards have been tremendous and I cannot wait until I have the chance to go back.

The kindest, most caring and understanding people I have ever met. I was worried about the experience having never done anything like this before but as soon as I arrived I knew I was doing the right thing. The sanctuary is exactly that - a place where you feel safe, comfortable and are able to reflect on how you are living your life. It has really helped me see what I need to do to be a better person and to be happier. I'm so grateful to Attila and Huan for their caring words and time and I'm so thankful to Alex and Daniella who are the most inspiring, strongest women I have ever met. They knew exactly how to help me. They gave me so much time throughout the weekend and I felt so supported. Yet everyone in their care feels the same..I dont know how they do it. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to come here. I can't wait to see you again and learn more in November. Xx

What a wonderful place this is, located north of Lisbon in the middle of the country makes it a bit special. Rolling hills all round and the hosts are just fantastic. From the moment I arrived I felt welcome and part of something, like a home away from home. There is a huge Teepee in the middle of the field beside the house and it's spectacular, inside it there is a big wood burning stove and the atmosphere is truly special/spiritual. There are lovely walks all around the area and very little, if any traffic at all. The peace and tranquility is truly worth going back for time and again! Heaven, there is no other way to describe this place. I've been several times in the last few years and have come away every time feeling like a new man. The hosts, Alex and Attila are the most charming and hospitable people you could meet and they immediately make you feel part of the family, so warm and welcoming. The setting is absolutely perfect, out in the countryside with long winding roads and beautiful scenic walks around an abundance of vineyards. The house is a lovely cottage type bungalow and is charming with huge rosemary and thyme plants, fig trees and beautiful shrubs with huge oak trees dotted all over the place! I would recommend this place for anyone looking to find themselves, cleanse the soul and see the magnificent power and beauty of nature! I would give 10 stars if the option was available!

5 well-deserved stars for this beautiful retreat in the hills of Portugal. "The Sanctuary" is a very appropriate name... as that's exactly what it is! I have attended 2 Ayahuasca retreats here, (the first with my husband and the second one alone) and still can't believe the positive impact it's having on my (our) life. I've learned valuable lessons in mindfulness, breathing, meditation, and self-love, and have managed to shed a life-time of anxiety and deep-rooted fear! The hosts Alexandra, Attila and Daniella are so professional, and their kindness and warmth made me feel immediately welcome. They know exactly what they are doing down to the finest little detail (I'm was not usually a very trusting person and they went far beyond my expectations!).
