Best home made food I have tasted in Portugal,cooked just like my mother would do, if you're here for a short break or living here this place is a must visit, beautiful surrounds and warm welcoming staff. Best night I've had since arriving.
Will definitely be back as the liffey water ( Guinness ) is just like being at home.

Comida muito bem confeccionada, simpatia da proprietária, sala bonita, bem cuidada e excelente relação preço/qualidade. Quando liguei a primeira impressão foi de desagrado pois atenderam em inglês e quando respondi em português pediram-me se podíamos continuar em inglês. Fico bastante desagradado com estas situações, mas dei o benefício da dúvida e persisti na reserva de mesa pois a localização do restaurante era excelente como ponto de partida para o passeio que iria dar e as críticas na net eram favoráveis. Não me arrependi, pelo contrário. Tanto a proprietária ( ou anfitriã) como a cozinheira são inglesas e percebi que não sendo muito jovens não é por falta de vontade que não falam bem português. É genuína dificuldade, pois a vontade existe e ainda trocámos algumas palavras em português. Recomendo, vale a pena a visita.

I had a lovely experience. The place is peaceful, the decoration is simple (didn't went to the wc so I can't really tell) I guess it could have some more british elements but it's okay and THE BEST THING was the service and the people.
Food wise it's not gonna be a groundbreaking experience, but it sure gonna be a well put together meal. I went there with my family for my birthday and we all asked for different dishes (they had 5 available, we asked for five AHAHAH poor cooker). We atill asked for 5 coffees and 2 desserts (for me, THE ABSOLUTE BEST expecially the brownie). They still gave me a piece of cake to celebrate hahahah.
I will go back but maybe just for a coffee and a cake (just because fried food is not my fav thing).
The rage for person was 12,4€ which I think it's amazing.
Highly recommend.

Great three course Sunday Roast. Very tasty, good sized portions. Service very good & Staff very Friendly. Excellent infact, as there were 10 us. Definitely be returning in the near future.

O que mais gosto neste aconchegante restaurante é almoçar junto as vidraças traseiras onde nestes dias de inverno batem uns raios solares que aconchegam a alma, assim como o maravilhoso peixe panado com molho de tártaro! Muito boa relação qualidade preço! A funcionária é muito simpática.

Good settling/building, good friendly if slow service, & well cooked food. Not the cheapest of restaurants but difficult to compete on price with Portuguese diners.

Não é caro para a qualidade que é. Uma boa garrafa de vinho que tem valor médio de 17,50, pagamos somente 10, e os pratos rondam o valor dos 8/9 euros, e são muito bem condicionados. O lugar é acolhedor e por ser um restaurante britânico, com empregados que só falam inglês, traz uma nova experiência.

An excelent restaurant in Penela, close to Espinhal. It is run by a nice British couple. They are so friendly and make you feel so comfortable. The food, British style, is excelent. Price is very good. For a complete meal (soup, main course, beverage, desert and coffee) I only paid €7! I highly recommend it.
Penela is a beautiful village with a castle and many other places in the Nature to visit. It is close to Coimbra, the University Students Town, so you can visit both in the same trip. There also is a Wellness Clinic "VitaSalus" where you can spend the night/s paying for a suite €44 per adult. This is also an amazing place to visit.

Fantastic food and a monthly quiz night where all the money from raffle tickets go to our local Bombieros. Always a warm welcome, too.

Otra joya oculta y acabamos por echar combustible, pero el sitio genial.
Limpieza,vistas, Luz,y la camarera supongo que jefa pues un amor aunque habla varios idiomas no el nuestro.......

I had been at Brunel's before and considered the restaurant to be a good deal for food and price. But when its people decided to do a theme night about Harry Potter they let themselves go crazy. They started by creating a roumor that J K Rowling was coming to have people from far away book the night So for dinner they could totaly screw up and don't care about the disappointed costumers that'd never return. For 20 euros one expects more than tap water and canned sausages. I just cannot believe these people!

Overpriced buffet dinner. I had dinner at Brunel's tonight because I was invited by some friends that promised me good food (they used to go there). I was confronted with cold appetisers (really poor variety), cold pork loin with no flavour at all, chiken legs, and the only side dishs were doritos (??) and lettuce.
For my final surprise, the dessert was popkorn and gely... Just sad really. The only included drinks were water and orange juice (sunquick...).
For 20€/person I was hopping for so much more. It was desappointing. I guess the food I ate cost them something like 3€. And I know 20€ would give me a really nice dinner somewhere else. I felt robbed. My friends felt embarassed. It was just sad.

Overpriced Harry Potter-themed buffet.. I expected more than a few chicken wings, some cold appetizers, and no side-dishes. It seemed no thought was put into the decoration as well. There's no "Ravensclaw" house and I'm certain 'mugblood' is not a thing.

Food was lovely, staff were excellent and was very comfortable. Very child friendly. Only point was that would have liked to see a veggie hot option. Overall a recommended, good value and friendly restaurant.

Delightfully wonderful. Stunning views, peaceful, intricate flavours and the lovely Octa wines. Planning to make many, many more visits and sample the entire menu. Staff very helpful.

Fica um pouco escondido, frente ao shopping Penelacenter. Mas vale a pena a visita.

Have eaten here a number of times, as a couple and even with 24 other people in a birthday group yesterday. Beautiful location and building, service fast and friendly, food exceptional: good vegetarian options, fresh, well-prepared generous portions, and local produce is always included. We particularly enjoy the family atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Excellent Sunday lunch in great surroundings. What could be better than roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and 3 veg - all that and a starter of leek and potato soup and desert of chocolate sponge and custard. Best meal my wife and I have had in Portugal for many months.
So you Brits if you want a great Sunday lunch you know where to go. The beers are good also. WELL DONE!!

A very nice newly built resturant opened a short drive from coimbra. Offering a relaxing ambience with food and drink of a high quality. Staff are lovely and can cater for portugese speakers and British alike. Language is not a problem in this place and neither is finding a nice view to look at from the terrace.
