We had the meatballs and the cheese risotto (you have to order 2 minimum). Although the meatballs were absolutely delicious, the size of portions were on the (very) small size. Cheese risotto was disappointing. Value for money is quite bad unfortunately.

Meravigliosa! Per chi vuole mangiare vero cibo italiano, cucinato da uno chef italiano e sua mamma, questo è il posto giusto. Il locale è una favola, il bagno merita una visita.

Sempre scettico sull'andare a mangiare italiano in altri paesi e infatti mai avevo ceduto, ma dopo una settimana di cucina portoghese avevo voglia di cambiare. Devo dire che è stata una piacevole scoperta questa trattoria gestita da un giovane e capace chef con proposte non banali con piatti italiani, ma anche contaminati da sapori portoghesi "ingentiliti". Più che buono il tiramisù a concludere la serata con buona scelta di grappe. Il locale è curato e piacevole come anche gentile, disponibile e preparato il giovane responsabile della sala. Bravi ragazzi che svendono il buon nome della ristorazione made in italy. Consigliatissimo per italiani e stranieri.

Muito bom. Tudo estava ótimo e a carbonara é a melhor que já comi e mesmo italiana. Apenas achámos as doses muito pequenas e sai se com vontade de quer ter comido mais.

Ottima cucina, in una trattoria che ricorda le migliori tavole rustiche italiane. Niente da spartire con la classica ristorazione italiana all'estero, che di italiano ha solo il nome. Qui si mangia bene e si viene trattati amichevolmente. Prezzi portoghesi, cioè onesti e ragionevoli.

Sehr guter, aufmerksamer und vielsprachiger Service. Gerichte wurden frisch zubereitet. Wir hatten Gambas als Vorspeise sowie Spaghetti mit Muscheln und Tortellini mit Kürbisfüllung als Hauptgang. Danach würde auf jeden Fall noch ein Nachtisch passen.

Yum!! My favorite restaurant in Portugal! The food was carefully prepared and beautifully served and the space itself had the sweetest cozy/classy feel. To top it off, the service was amazing!! I would highly recommend a visit when in Faro.

Historic and cultural restaurant, the food is totally amazing fresh and delicious. Besides, the service is absolute considerate, I think it can be one star M restaurant. I like it soooo much.

I would give it 6 stars if I could. This the first time I return to a restaurant on same trip. Everything was perfect from the service, the atmosphere the attention to details and off course the food and the wine. The meatballs and the duck salad are a must along with the cheese accompanied by a home made marmalade.

Absolutely excellent, the food was beautiful and prepared with real heart and soul.
The guys here were very accommodating too, we arrived before opening time and we were still able to come in for a drink before service even as a group of 8. I will definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

Desert was amazing. Tiramisu. Rest was good too. Enjoyed the white wine of the day. Experience was good and the place is calm but efficient yet relaxed. Bit hard to find and the outside forgettable. Worth a try as the food is good.

For me it's the biggest surprise when it comes to the restaurants in Faro. Everything from service to dishes is truly exceptional. Their cousine is as simple as tasteful. Thank you for the amazing culinary experience!

En bra italiensk restaurang i centrala Faro med en italiensk kock. Väldigt bra och uppmärksam servitör som tog väl hand om oss.
Vi åt penne och köttbullar, båda väldigt bra även om pastan tog hem priset.
Väl värt att besöka om det är italienskt du är sugen på!

La buona ristorazione, per me, deve tornare a quella che faceva nonna quando la domenica invitava i nipoti a pranzo. Non può essere una fabbrica dove la cucina non chiude mai, dove i prodotti te li porta il rappresentante che ti propina quello che l azienda deve smaltire. Il cuoco deve andare al mercato, per la carne deve conescerla e litigare con il macellaio per i pezzi migliori, deve selezionare vini, formaggi, liquori, pane..... Insomma tutto.
Poi la preparazione non può essere per 100 persone alla volta, cosa può uscire dalla cucina?
Qui siamo vicini a quello che penso, complimenti al Mavala......

Très très bon restaurant.
Accueil châleureux par le serveur et très agréable tout au long du service.
Le chef cuisinier, aux petits soins vient en salle pour apporter les plats, désservir ou avoir des retours.
Un rapport qualité prix excellent.
Impression d’être dans un gastro sans se ruiner (1 entrée, 2 plats, 2 desserts, 2 verres de vin et 2 bouteilles d’eau pétillante = 52€)

Ottimo ristorante. Piccolo, con pochi tavoli, molto intimo e ben curato. Meglio prenotare. Cameriere molto gentile e simpatico. Lo chef ci ha sorpreso con i suoi piatti. Ottimo vino. Mangiato con in sottofondo musica di Battisti. Bhe, per un'oretta ci siamo sentiti a casa, in tutti i sensi. Decisamente consigliato.

Festa di compleanno della mia consorte. Tagliere di salumi e formaggi all'italiana, bresaola Valtellina, mondeghili alla milanese, fritto misto di paranza, (freschissimo), con chips di patata dolce, vitello tonnato, (rosa), da mangiare anche con gli occhi, (la salsa tonnata a mo' di spuma!!). Terrina di schiacciata con patate, scarola ripassata, bernese, melanzane baba ganoush, salsine diverse per accompagnare il tutto. Ravioli, (fatti in casa), di funghi porcini e patate e spaghetti mantecati alla bottarga di corvina, (bottarga che sala lui, lo chef Davide), filetto di branzino all'acqua pazza. Torta Tiramisù, prosecchi TV e superiore Valdobbiadene. Caffè ed ammazzacaffè. S U P E R L A T I V O!!!

Delicate well balanced tasty food. Don’t expect your plate to be piled up with pasta.
The aromas coming from the kitchen are wonderful.Nice friendly service.
Reasonably priced- see copy of bill for a shared starter and 2 mains with gin tonic and a glass of very nice house red from Douro.They also have a 4 course taster menu which was €29 on our evening.

Best Italian restaurant in Faro, and probably of the Algarve. Great ambience, super sweet waitress, and the food is to die for! Try one of the Italian wines, you won't regret it!

I really liked the place, the food quality was very fresh and homemade BUT
I was leaving this restaurant still hungry which is in my eyes the worst as a paying costumer. Had more food at a different place lol such a shameee ..

Tasty food and good wine. But the portions were so small that we left the place hungry, which is a shame. 13€ for a small portion of Ravioli filled with pumpkin seemed a lot.

The place has a great Look and feel about it, but the food was lacking. If this is fine dining, it's not for me. Portions, way too small. Meatballs tasted like nothing I've ever had before. Such a strange flavour. Rabbit was beautiful but game with a few bits of cold veg. The cheese and meat plate for starters was lovely. Wine very nice. Staff friendly. But the food under par.

Dopo 10 giorni di cucina portoghese abbiamo ceduto alla tentazione di un ristorante italiano... ed è stata una bella sorpresa... locale piacevole, grande gentilezza e una cucina di qualità con presentazione curata... Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Consigliatissimo.

Tres goûteux, personnel très attentionné,
Boulettes de viandes extra ainsi que les tortelini.
Petit bémol il ne restait plus qu'un seul dessert à choisir, moi qui voulais un tiramisu !!!!
Tant pis tout le reste était très bon même le vin DO PORTUGAL...

Great service, delicious food. Not very many vegetarian options but offered to do a simple pasta if needed. The chef also came to check that we were happy with the food (we were!). Staff were lovely and spoke great English.

Bravissimo Davide, ogni volta piatti diversi, buoni e presentati con cura. Quando si passa da Faro, una sosta al Mavala' e' assolutamente da fare. Fuori dal traffico turistico, zona tranquilla e raggiungibile in pochissimi minuti dal centro storico.

A comida é muito bem confecionada e o serviço é muito agradável. As almondegas estavam fantásticas (especialidade do dia) e os gnocchi verdes uma verdadeira delícia. Para repetir. Provámos também a lasanha que estava muito boa mas foi ofuscada pelos gnocchi. Há um vinho algarvio mas a carta é diversificada nos italianos.
