Great steak. I asked for medium rare but it turned out quite a bit more 'rare' than im used too. They did check that i was ok with it though. It was amazing, definitely one of the best i've ever had. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals, mainly sea food, too. All quite inexpensive, the steak was around fifteen euros. Service was attentive without being over the top. All round great experience.

This is by far the best restaurant in Alvor we have been going there for 13 years and we have never been anything but blown away by the staff, freshness, quality and taste of the food. Everyone likes something different but there must be many people that agree with me as booking is essential. Located right in the heart of the harbour area, follow the barbeque smoke where Ricardo the master grill chef will be preparing seafood, steaks and lamb, say hi from us and seek out Marko and the rest of the team that will ensure you have a fantastic dining experience

We really enjoyed our meal here. We shared the traditional fish cataplana, minus the traditional prawns and clams due to my wife's shellfish sensitivity. Still, very flavorful and tasty. I also enjoyed the vegetable soup, with carrot, onion and squash. We shared a mango mousse for dessert and they include a small cup of Port to end the meal. We left very satisfied.

Immer wieder gerne. Leckere Speisen, ob Fisch oder Fleisch und eine freundliche Bedienung. Kellner wußte, was vor einem Jahr als Menü bestellt wurde. Hochachtung.

I've been to some amazing restaraunts and experienced top quality service. If you're a fish lover. This place is heaven. You are made to feel welcome before you set foot in the door by the owner grilling the fish to perfection by the entrance outside.
The staff are easy going and have great sense of humour.
They let the fish speak for itself. Although Marco likes to talk too ....
We loved Alvor, but this place made it special.

This is our favourite restaurant in Alvor! Lovely fresh fish and perfectly cooked steak. Marco always makes us welcome. Booking is usually required during peak season. We highly recommend that you give this restaurant a try!

Delicious home cooked food, using the freshest ingredients. Beautiful seafood. Monkfish and rice is one of our favourites. Every year it gets harder to book a table, a testament to this wonderful spot.

Não gosto de locais em que mal se entra dizem que está tudo reservado, e tem 1 mesa ocupada. Absurdo. Nem dá para esperar. Parece que é para escolher só os estrangeiros. Não ponho lá os pés.

Our very favourite restaurant, anywhere. Traditional Portuguese style home cooking, family owned and run for decades now (we first visited in 2000!).
Fresh fish daily from the fishermen in the harbour, just yards from the restaurant. You can have a whole fish such as bream or snapper, squid, shellfish, tuna or swordfish steaks. The meats on the menu include pork steaks, ribs, chicken and steaks. There is also a variety of fish and meat kebabs on long skewers. Everything is cooked freshly over a charcoal grill.
The folks who own it are so lovely, we think of them as friends after all these years. They're helpful and knowledgeable about their food and the cooking, and they'll make prepare your meal exactly as you like it.
Some tips : book a table. They're busy because they're good. Try the homemade soup, it's €1.50 and delicious. Try the house wine, both red and white are locally made and really good.
Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Please go, and enjoy your meal!

Great restaurant. Seafood fresh and delicious. To try the typycal cataplana (picture below) as well as local handmade almond liquor. Final surprise: the bill. Totally recommended

Excellent food and service. We had sea bass and golden bream. Both cooked to perfection and served with new potatoes and salad. Followed by a delicious carob cake, chocolate moose and a coffee. Cannot fault. Would highly recommend.

Está bastante bien. Buena comida de tipo tradicional sin florituras, atienden bien y el precio de la bebida está algo más barato que la media de la zona. El lugar peca solamente de tener el comedor con la decoración y el estilo un pelín anticuados.

Muito mau!! Como éramos portugueses nem nos deram atenção e disseram logo que não havia mesa. Mesmo estando duas vagas e sem estarem reservadas. Nem se dignou a vir ter connosco, falou ao longe a dizer que não tinha mesa. Muito mau mesmo!!

Wir waren hier auf Empfehlung für die Cataplana. Es gibt verschiedene Cataplanavarianten zur Auswahl, wir hatten uns für Shellfish Cataplana entschieden. Mit 60€ für zwei Personen die teuerste ihrer Art, alle anderen um die 30€.
Die Cataplana war sehr gut, jedoch hatten wir auch etwas normalen Fisch und ein paar Kartoffelscheiben erwartet (so zumindest kannten wir es). Der Sud war leider etwas fade. Die Menge an Muscheln und Krustentieren reichlich, was den Preis annehmbar erscheinen ließ.
Alles in allem trotzdem eine gute Cataplana.
P.S. Reservierung notwendig.

Ottimo piccolo ristorante sito nella piazzetta di Alvor prospiciente il porticciolo. L'esperienza, sia per quanto riguarda il pesce grigliato sia per il riso alla marinara piccante in brodo è stata veramente notevole, tanto che l'abbiamo bissata nel nostro soggiorno. Prezzi onesti. Personale estremamente cortese.

Endlich mal wieder einen guten Meeresfrüchte Reistopf gegessen! Preislich entgegen einigen Bewertungen völlig ok! Zu viert haben wir 60 € bezahlt. Freundliches Ambiente, nette Bedienung. Alles Top!

Been coming to this restaurant for the last 10 years! Best fish in Alvor, cooked on a open barbecue outside the front of the restaurant. Always busy, booking is advisable. This restaurant is named O Arco da Velha (translated as The Old Arch). I recommend the prawns with garlic for a starter and then any of the fish dishes (had loads, favourite is Seabass and Red Mullet) :)

Excelente restaurante (está no meu top 3 do Algarve)com muito bom ambiente para jantar peixe ou carne com qualidade a preços acessíveis onde a comida é muito bem confecionada e o atendimento é simpático e atencioso. Convém reservar para não ter a surpresa de não haver lugar.

Una parrilla excelente con unos pescados frescos (se pueden ver a la entrada en un expositor) que deleitan el paladar. Trato muy familiar, agradable y atento. Precio/calidad bien.

I did a quick search of the area to see where was good to eat and this did not disappoint!! We made a reservation ahead (90mins before we arrived) just to make sure, and I'm glad we did as we got the last available table for that evening! As you approach the restaurant you see one of the waiters on the outdoor BBQ preparing some fish, who is incredibly friendly and welcoming! The couvert was great - local fresh bread, olives & cheese - which is a big plus and many restaurants skimp out on this with jarred olives and baguettes! We decided to skip starters and go for mains and dessert instead. One of the party chose the grilled sardines which they could not complement enough! Myself and my dad shared the fish cataplana, which is the best one I have ever eaten! It was packed full of fish - sea bream, red mullet, huge muscles & prawns - and had a beautiful tomatoey sauce which the waiter suggested to add some Piri piri sauce to (yum!!). The homemade desserts were fab and just the right size to end a meal with - flan and almond delicia. For the meal including wine and two bottles of water, we paid €60! I will be back here in a heartbeat!

Eigenlijk moet je voor de vis gaan, maar we waren. meer in voor vlees. Voorgerecht wel vis, sardinha algarve. Verrassend lekker. De geflambeerde biefstuk van de haas was perfect.
