El edificio es el antiguo convento de San Francisco, ejemplo de arquitectura religiosa y gótica portuguesa, de casi 800 años, situado en la planicie alentejana. Los altos techos y espaciosas salas... resulta muy agradable. El gran comedor, abovedado, es la antigua sala de jantar, y se abre directamente al jardín con una gran piscina que es un delicia. Tambien se puede desayunar en el jardin, un desayuno completo y fabuloso. El personal muy atento y amable: Joaquim, Katia, Claudia, Hélder... Muchas gracias

Aunque sea un alojamiento, en su interior alberga un convento precioso y unos jardines dignos de ver. De hecho, la recomiendan en la oficina de turismo.

We were on a “voyage of exploration” to experience inland Portugal. It is a poor, sad country. However, the Pousada itself was most comfortable, and the service was impressive. We were upgraded to the Royal Suite for a very small additional charge, and the dinners in the restaurant were fine. The wines from Alentejo were well chosen and fairly priced.

Os funcionários são muito simpáticos. O problema foi o quarto que me calhou em sorte. O quarto estava numa comparticipação do edifício que por um motivo que não percebi estava quente, tipo estufa, provavelmente estava por cima de geradores ou algo que produzia calor. Mesmo com a noite fria acordei mal disposto, tal o efeito estufa que tinha. Comecei a perceber que o calor sentia se logo que se entrava no corredor do quarto. Eu acho que aquele setor do edifício não deveria servir para quartos. Fiquei muito desapontado.

This magnificent hotel will take your breath away! It is a beautiful building with equally lovely grounds. The vibe inside this converted convent is something you have to experience. The room, of course, was perfect, and the staff were eager to support in anyway they could. My sister and I drove past the Oliveira de Serra vineyard on our way into Beja, and discovered that they provided tours. The staff at Pousada Convento de Beja didn't hesitate first thing in the morning to help us book a tour there right away, as we flew home that evening. (I also highly recommend that tour.) Breakfast was in a beautiful hall and the presentation took me aback. Everything you need (or didn't know you needed!) was there for your morning feast- fruit, veg, breads, pastries, cheeses, bacon, eggs, honey, joghurt, cereal, etc. Cannot wait to stay again, but for longer!

O convento foi muito bem recuperado e adaptado a hotel, providenciando todas as comodidades que se pretende num local para descansar e retemperar forças para voltar ao bulício citadino. O pequeno-almoço é de muita qualidade e contempla produtos regionais, nomeadamente os queijos, presunto e bolos caseiros.

We visited when we arrived in Beja, looking for a room for the night. Fancy looking place with a lot of decorations that may have part of the old convent. I remember seeing a wall hanging depicting a farm scene from the 1500's. Was the hanging that old? Don't know, but I was impressed. Most of the things were of a religious nature; that's okay, it's culture. Pretty place, but no rooms today.

Sehr sehr tolles Hotel, das Konzept der Pousadas Portugal ist einfach überzeugend! In historischer Stätte luxuriös übernachten, einfach super! Einziges Manko ist der Kaffee beim Frühstück-überall in Portugal bekommt man Kaffee bester italienischer Qualität quasi nachgeworfen, nur im Luxushotel gibt's nur Instant-Brühe, und dann auch noch aus gechlortem Leitungswasser. Bäh!

Mais uma pousada construída num belíssimo monumento de 1268- convento S.Francisco, transformado em quartel de infantaria e adaptado agora a Pousada. Tem 35 quartos e 1 suite. Piscina exterior, boa gastronomia alentejana além de outras actividades recomendadas para a cidade.

optisch ansprechen in einem ehemaligen Kloster.Sehr gute Parkmöglichkeiten.Der Empfang an der Rezeption ist freundlich und professionell.Gepäckservice wird angeboten.Die Zimmer sind klein und praktisch. Das Bett definitiv, für 2 Erwachsene, zu klein.Die Außenanlagen sehr schön, mit integriertem Pool.Der Service am Anfang recht gut, wenn auch etwas hektisch. Danach war der Service quasi nicht mehr vorhanden. Das Essen für portugiesische Verhältnisse recht teuer und sehr lieblos angerichtet.Beispiel: Kalbssteak mit Kartoffeln 24€ allerdings ohne jede weitere Beilage auf dem Teller. Kein Gemüse , kein Salat.... nichts.

This Pousada is a beautiful hotel. Huge common rooms with rediculously high ceilings. Our guest room was a converted convent cell with a vaulted ceiling and modern comforts. The bathroom was really nice, clean and inviting. The inclusive buffet breakfast was just as good as the other Pousadas we've stayed in previously. The staff we spoke to were very friendly particularly the young lady looking after the breakfast service and the female receptionist we met when checking out. One negative is our room didn't have an electric kettle with tea/coffee making facilities. This is common across most Pousadas I think. Aside from that, its a great hotel. Beja is very nice town with lots of history. Ideal if you want a night or two away from home or as part of a bigger trip.

Very unique experience staying in a 13th century monastery. With all the character and history but modernized very nicely. Central location, convenient parking, great facilities, Wifi and breakfast. And you can send unique photos to friends and family with the wow factor.

There was a EU conference scheduled the day of our departure, so the staff was stressed and extremely concerned about getting us out of their way. É preciso prestar atenção ao nome da Pousada pois o que está indicado no Booking não confere com o que está na porta do Convento. Na frente está está assinalado "Pousada de São Francisco" e no Booking "Pousada Convento de Beja".

Pousada Convento de Beja lived up to it's excellent reputation in every way. The complex is steeped in history, architecturally beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was relatively small compared to our previous accommodation at Pousada Castelo Palmella but it was very comfortable and well appointed and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast was included in our package and was excellent with a wide selection of food to chose from. We would return to this Pousada in a heartbeat and highly recommend this beautiful facility.

Oud klooster omgebouwd tot hotel. Veel grote ruimtes die mooi zijn ingericht. Ruime eetzaal die toch prettig aanvoelt. €135 voor een standaard kamer vind ik echter te veel. Kamer en badkamer zijn te klein. Er branden twee lampjes die je niet anders uit kunt doen dan de kaart bij de deur om hoog te trekken. Je hebt dan 's nachts helemaal geen licht meer. Oplossing was dus om de lampjes los te draaien uit de fittingen. Hele middag luide stemmen van kamermeisjes op de gehorige gang voor de kamer.

A direcção não se mostrou minimamente interessada, sequer, de saber como vir a resolver ou adaptar às instalações.

Estacionamos no parking da pousada e na manhã seguinte vimos que os 2 carros estavam batidos e amassados. Voltamos para avisar a recepcionista q nem se desculpou.
O que me leva a crer que é acontecimento corriqueiro para eles. Quartos muito quentes, camas pequenas e moles.

WiFi was somewhat slow and hard to connect, and in general the experience felt quite boring to be frank, but that's mainly to do that it was winter and the main thing to do (go to the pool) was not available. Great restaurant though.

Passagem só para usufruir do espaço de restauração. Os preços são acima da média bejense, contudo justifica-se pela qualidade da refeição. A destacar a sobremesa de doces conventuais. Atendimento muito amável e prestável. O espaço exterior é muito agradável, especialmente se tem crianças.

Majestatyczne miejsce. Hotel na naprawdę wysokim poziomie oczywiście jak na tak niewielkie miasteczko. Polecam szczególnie miłośnikom sakralnych budowli. Ma się wrażenie że gościł nas lokalny biskup. Obsługa hotelową na naprawdę wysokim poziomie. Niestety drogi.

Excelente no serviço e de grande qualidade. As instalações são modernas e sumptuosas e está muito bem conseguido o aproveitamento do antigo convento.
Local muito sossegado e perto do centro.

Wonderful facility, friendly and very helpful staff addressed all our needs and answered all questions with additional useful information. The restaurant is terrific, both for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was our best during a week in Portugal.

We very much enjoyed out stay. The pool was perfect the staff very accommodating and the Convent with all its history was a pure pleasure. Had a wonderful meal.

Wat een luxe. Als omgebouwd klooster een pracht van een hotel met mooie oude kamers waar vroeger de monniken sliepen. Prachtige tuin met behoorlijk zwembad en tennisbaan. Prima ontbijt met o.a. champagne. Nee, niets mis mee. Wederom een aanrader voor een paar dagen want er is in Beja niet te veel te beleven.

Hotel itself is an historical building and worth exploring. Room was smallish but comfortable. Poola rea and grounds good. Ample parking. Quiet and peaceful. Great public areas.

We had a problem with a different hotel and joaquim cardeira helped us well beyond what would be expected. The staff at this hotel is the best ive seen in my travel. They made our trip enjoyable. Highly recommended

This hotel is an architectural gem. The common spaces are vast, perfect for a function or wedding, with many smaller rooms for reading, resting, or sipping a drink. Though we did not have time to enjoy the outdoor spaces, they look equally well appointed, including a pool. The building and all of its amenities, and the very warm and competent staff, made for a lovely stay. We only wish we had been able to spend another night or two.

Very nice pousada and with good location. Food was fine and good parking in courtyard. Beds were VERY hard and uncomfortable as always in Spain and Portugal.

Delighted to find a rather extravagant, cool and welcoming accommodation after a hot walk up the hill, in a place, where we were not sure quite what to expect - a big relief. The pool was a welcome bonus and very much appreciated. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A special thank you to the very kind gentleman on night duty at reception who helped me out when I ran into a bit of trouble with a lost husband!

Alle historischen Höhepunkte liegen in Fussgänger Distanz. Zu empfehlen ist die Kirche mit Museum 4. Jh, das Castello, die alten Gassen und nicht zu vergessen das Restaurant O Arbitro mit seinem Chef und dem Braten vom iberischen Schwein auf dem Teller und seiner Fussball Begeisterung.

We visited out of season so were surprised to be told all superior rooms were taken however we would be given an upgrade and were given a suite. This was very damp and unfortunately bathroom smelled of bad drains.
Anna on reception was most helpful and acquired a fire for us and gave us a brilliant recommendation for dinner Vovo Joaquina.(highly recommend).
Don't expect great wifi as reception very poor probably due to thickness of walls. Free parking at back but no lighting.

This former convent is saturated with history and beautifully restored so that it is perfect for a modern traveller who loves the old but likes the conveniences and luxury of 21st century life. We slept in a cell with a gorgeous bath attached and outside the spacious old hallways of the comvent. Excellent breakfast in the vaulted ceilinged dining room.

Das Hotel hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Auch die Garten mit Poolanlage war top. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und das Badezimmer sehr gross. Auch das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Going into beautiful Alentejo, you find this very cosy town nearly without industri. And the happiness is double, when you find your lovely pousada. With a nice private park around, and secure parking also. You really feel the luxury without being ruined.
And the restaurent is also a visit worth - they serve good Alentejo-food made by a professional cook!

Beja es una ciudad perfecta para conocer el interior de Portugal y la pousada de Sao Francisco ideal para un fin de semana relajado. La habitación y el baño son amplios y cuidados. el desayuno completo y el trato del personal de hotel muy agradable.En la zona se puede hacer senderismo y bicicleta; Beja cuenta con un patrimonio histórico interesante y también puede disfrutarse de la restauración de la región y visitar alguna bodega.

Um Beja zu erkunden, eignet sich die Pousada ausgezeichnet. Die Rezeption müsste dazu allerdings einen vernüftigen Stadtplan haben. Einen solchen gibt es bei der Touristen-Info am anderen Ende der Stadt. Die Klimaanlage war im April bei 25 Grad noch auf ¨Heizung¨ eingestellt, also Fenster öffnen. Dummerweiser befanden sich unter unserem Fenster Tische, an denen sich Gäste unterhielten.Die Pousada befindet sich einem wunderbaren Kloster, aber letzten Endes ist der Preis für ein Dopplezimmer zu hoch. Daran ändert auch das sehr gute Frühstück nichts.
