Die Wanderwege sind sehr gut markiert (2 gelbe-rote Striche). Von den Aussichtspunkten (Miradou) sehr gute Aussicht.

Gets really hot in the mid day so bring a hat and water ! Took 1 hour up and down from the little cafe in Pena. Did not do the round tour. Make sure to check out both miradouros (south and north). Cool hike with nice views but nothing out of this world.

Rocha da Pena 479 Meter über dem Meer) ist ein sehr schöner Tafelberg mit tollen Aussichten ins Umland. Es gibt einen 6.7 km langen Rundwanderweg, der sehr gut beschildert ist. Am Parkplatz ist eine Wandertafel auf der der Rundwanderweg nochmals beschrieben ist. Zwischen Salir und Pena ist der Rocha da Pena ausgeschildert. Es führt eine asphaltierte Strasse bis zum Parkplatz.

Leuk gebied voor een halfdagse wandeling. Je klimt langzaam en loopt boven over een soort kam en plateau met mooi vergezicht. Je kunt aan het begin en einde wat drinken en in het dorpje, waar je aan het einde doorheen komt is een typisch dorpscafé.

Local maravilhoso para quem aprecia natureza em estado puro. Os caminhos do percurso pedestre circular estão bem sinalizados. O caminho é íngreme, e demora cerca de 2h a fazer o percurso. Pelo caminho vão-se encontrando paineis sobre a biodiversidade local. O local é muito calmo e pouco turístico. A flora, fauna e a paisagem são impressionantes. Fui hoje pela primeira vez. Passou a ser o meu lugar preferido do Algarve. Não aconselho levar crianças de colo.

À ne pas rater si vous aimez la marche super vue panoramique
Bon itinéraire de randonnée, et les beaux paysages.
Pas de complications particuliere sur ce terrain.
Il faut entre deux heures et demie et trois heures.
Randonnée parfaitement balisé.
Au départ ou au pied du massif se trouve un restaurant servant des collations légères et des boissons.
Parfait pour se reposer après la ballade.

Het enige echte klimaatinformatie van de Algarve. Een 100 tal klimroutes gemiddeld rond de 6e graads in compacte rots. Meeste routes recentelijk en goed behaakt. Als klimmer, een meenemer, als je in de buurt bent.

Mooie natuur wandeling met uitzichtspunten. Goede wandelschoenen en voldoende drinken meenemen. Alleen in het dal kun je iets eten/drinken. Beetje conditie is nodig.

Idealer Wander und Treckingpfad im Frühjahr und Herbst, der gut Beschildert ist. Grandiose Aussicht bei klarem Wetter. Am Start oder Fuße des Massivs gibt es ein Restaurant für kleinere Snacks und Getränke.

Wunderschöner gut angelegter und ausgeschilderter Wanderweg im Hinterland der Algarve. Festes Schuhwerk empfohlen. Ca 7 Kilometer - in gut 2 Stunden zu schaffen. Wunderbare Blumen- und Pflanzenwelt und tolle Ausblicke.

Très bel endroit pour randonner ou faire de l’escalade. Un bar en face d’une fontaine originale et un petit parking sont le point de départ de cette balade. Il fait très chaud sur ce chemin caillouteux mais il est agréable, ensuite, de profiter de l’ombre des caroubiers sur la crête. La vue sur l’Algarve est magnifique et s’étend à perte de vue

Need decent outdoor boots, even in Winter take plenty of water. Stunning views. I'm glad I walked up from Rocha da Penna. Some parking spaces there and soon on the top. Going East is quieter.. retrace steps going sort of anti clockwise. The wall of the Moors needs care over the the loose boulders but worth the reaching the North End Cairns for the views. The trail soon disappears here. Retrace and get back on the path that hugs the cliff line for great views.

Excelente local para caminhadas. Contudo no cimo da Rocha/ montanha o terreno não é muito plano pois é rochoso. Tem que se ter algum cuidado para não torcer um pé!
Tem uma vista maravilhosa sobre os campos algarvios. Não aconselho fazer o percurso no verão devido ao calor excessivo. No resto do ano, desde que não esteja a chover muito , é um prazer percorrer a Rocha da Pena!

Wenn man bei der Rocha da Pena Wanderung ganz auf dem Hügel oben angekommen ist, hat man eine atemberaubende Aussicht.
Man braucht ca. 2 Stunden mit einer mittellmäßigen Kondition bis auf den Hügel

Sehr schöne, etwa 3-stündige Wanderung mit zwei Kindern (6 & 7 Jahre alt). Überhaupt nicht schwierig. Man kann in Penina oder Rocha da Pena starten. Immer den waagerechten Markierungen nachgehen, die Kreuze sind Abzweigungen, welche vom eigentlichen Weg abführen.

Antiguo asentamiento de la edad del hierro. Aun se puden ver restos de sus defensas. Ademas es una ruta circular para observar flora y fauna del Algarve portugues. Mejor en otoño o primavera. En verano agua y pritecciom solar.

Brilliant spot for a short hike or trail run. By parking up at the nearby Bar das Grutas you can complete this 4 mile loop in around 2 hours taking in great views of the surrounding countryside. The going can be steep and / or rocky but the trail is very well marked. Bring plenty of water if visiting during hot weather.

Circuit up, across and down mountain takes about 2 hours. Snack bar at foot of eastern descent. Steep dirt roads up and down. Rocky path on top. Helps if you are fit and sure footed. Can start out either from village of Penina or snack bar. Circuit best avoided in mid summer and early afternoon on hot days. Take drinks, snacks and extra Jersey.

Leuke uitvalbasis van een mooie wandeling op het plateau van Rocha da Penna. Wij deden dat in mei. Alles in bloei. Schitterend dus. Redelijk goed aangegeven wandeling. Gebruik er Google maps bij, eventueel met een offline map, en je komt zeker weer bij het beginpunt terug. Je kunt kiezen rechts om is langzaam maar lang omhoog, links om ( weg links naast het café) is stijl omhoog maar kort....jouw keuze de afdaling is dan navenant natuurlijk.

Beautiful and relaxed climbing spot, specially for beginners. A little paradise in the mountains of Algarve, to run away from the busy turisty beaches... Have a place for parking the vans / tents and a water point. Only negative just a small cafe with really nothing to eat... but with a good "medronho"!

We came here rock climbing rather than hiking. The area is rugged and beautiful if you like outdoor pursuits. If you are looking for entertainment then this is not for you.
Bar Gusta sits at the foot of the Rocha Da Pena and offers alcohol, soft drinks, ice cream and food - although all I wanted was a cold beer. It also has toilets.

It is really for hiking - not a casual walk. Good view from the top, 2km on roads. Almost no shade, so go early and take a lot of water with you (maybe even snacks). Cool plants on the top, way up and down not spectacular, we saw no animals

Um percurso pedestre de 4,7km de extensão que vale bastante a pena fazer, localizado nas freguesias de Salir e Benafim, concelho de Loulé.
Geologicamente, a Rocha da Pena é uma cornija escarpada de calcários muito duros, cujo planalto tem aproximadamente 2 km de comprimento e uma escarpa com cerca de 50 m de altura. Ao longo dos anos, a rocha calcária tem sofrido uma lenta erosão química que originou a formação de fendas e grutas. A altitude máxima é de 479 m.
A acção erosiva da água sobre o calcário deu origem a formações cársicas como a gruta do Algar dos Mouros, que de acordo com a lenda terá sido um local de refúgio dos mouros após a conquista de Salir por D. Paio Peres Correia.

Visited for the climbing. Best place for rock climbing in the Algarve, best to visit early as the midday heat can become unbearable. Most visit Bar dear Grutus at the bottom for a cold bear and topos of the climbs.

Hikers - Rocha da Pena in the Loulé region cannot be missed. Rocha da Pena is a Table Mountain and shows the landscape of the region. The drive through the small villages is also lovely and seldom has traffic.
- Round trail between the hamlets Pena and Penina. Watch for the trail markings that are there all along the trail. Rocha da Pena placards with information on trail, birds, flowers, animals and the wall are located to provide more information.
- Photographers of Birds and Flowers will love this trail.
- Small cafes located at the base of Pena and Penina. You might as well bring your own picnic basket to complement the nice view.
After hike recommendation: Drive to Sines (orange orchards cannot be missed) and Sines fort.

Tolles Gebiet. Gut zu finden mit 15 Minuten Zustieg. Für ein einen Euro kann man in der Bar Fotos vom Topo machen. Sonst würde ich die Bar jedoch meiden. Der Inhaber ist schrecklich unfreundlich.
Die Bewertungen sind meist völlig zu hoch.

Heel mooi wandelgebied recht boven Loule. De bergen (heuvels) zijn niet zo hoog, dus je hoeft echt geen bergwandelaar te zijn.
Een bezoek is meer dan de moeite waard.

Absolutely devine climbing routes. Be brave and take shade in the summer. You need a 4x4 to get equipment up close and personal. The trek up is more than manageable but you may struggle find the routes behind the tree/bush line. The views are spectacular and mesmerising. This is spot I will return to.
