Estaleiro do Ouro is an old abandoned shipyard on the right bank of the river, which owes its name to the shipments of gold arriving from Africa and Brazil during the times of the Portuguese Empire.
If you like history and want to know more about the Portuguese Discoveries, do read "Conquerors: How Portugal Forged the First Global Empire" by Roger Crowley.
Anyway, the place is worth a visit. When there, take a look and try to find the "mini-Titanic". The owner likes to spend his Sundays repairing or cleaning it. Like the Titanic, the 'Mini' once sunk and spent some time under water, but was eventually salvaged and is now in fairly decent shape.

ELES NÃO APRECIAM OS TRABALHADORES QUE TÊM. E HÁ UM GERENTE CHAMADO CARLOS ESCOBAR, ELE É RUDE COM O CLIENTE E COM OS SEUS FUNCIONÁRIOS, ELE PRECISA FAZER UMA VERIFICAÇÃO SURPRESA NESTA LOJA, E DAR AOS FUNCIONÁRIOS UM AUMENTO.
