Very warm and welcoming spot. Just did the tasting, as we were toured out for the day. This was my favorite of all the port houses we visited. Much more intimate than the big guys. The port here is excellent. We were headed to Taylor’s after this, but it was raining hard so Christina took us there through the cellars (they are owned by and adjacent to Taylor’s) so we didn’t have to go out in the rain. A superb experience.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre visité en français. La guide Cristina est très compétente et généreuse de ses informations. On a pu déguster 3 différents porto assis confortablement avec une ambiance conviviale.

29 people for 1 guide is a bit too much but the explanations during the tour were detailed and interesting and the visit of the cellar is beautiful. During the wine tasting, you have access to 3 different Porto. Probably a bit overpriced but those are the prices around Porto. The location is a bit outside the main touristic area so you'll probably be able to avoid most tourists.

Much more chill than Taylor’s. Fewer people and better service. We got a flight of rose port, ruby port and 10-yo tawny with sea salt chocolate pairing. It was sensational! The salt transformed the port and took it to the next level.

Went on the the port tour and tasting. The guide we had was very knowledgeable, however, they were not very friendly or personable as mentioned by previous reviews.

According to the website, Croft opens until 7pm, last visit is at 6pm and it also states that you can come 'any time before 6'. So we did, climbing the hills, but were turned away as they didn't want to give tours anymore.
This is disappointing as this was something we were excited to do but with no apology, they turned us down. When I confronted them about their (wrong) information online, they just shrugged.
1) I recommend for Croft to change the information on their website because people pay money to travel here and don't want time to be wasted, like ours was.
2) if you're gonna say 'come when you want', then you should give tours regardless of how many people there are. You said come before 6pm, and so we did but were turned out with no prior notice. We could have planned to go to other places if we knew we couldn't make the tours!
3) Install an online booking system and upgrade your service because it's stupid to make potential paying customers walk to your visitor centre to leave them disappointed.
4) If they don't improve their booking systems, I recommend visitors to call them beforehand because information online is wrong.
Shame we couldn't try the wine nor see the winery. Would've given it different ratings otherwise but didn't get to try anything after all. This whole thing made this experience bitter. Shame!!

Besichtigung war viel zu kurz. Es wurde zu schnell und mechanisch erklärt... mit witzen die anscheinend immer funktionieren... haben 1,5std auf die führung gewartet und dann war sie nach max 20 min fertig. Es wurde nur sehr kurz und mit 4 fotos auf den herstellungsprozess eingegangen...
Alles in allem... die 14 euro warens nicht wert!!!

Nos recomendaron visitar esta bodega, y creo que hemos acertado. Fuimos esperando encontrarnos con largas colas, pero entramos con facilidad y la atención fue excelente. El tour algo corto, pero la explicación muy buena. Los productos que hemos probado también excelentes

호스텔 직원이 여기 추천해 줘서 다른 곳은 안가보고 먹어봤는데(F&O 제품들 보다 토니가 덜 달아요. 저 제품들은 마트에서 사서 먹어봤어요) 20년산 너무 맛있습니다. 리저브 사와서 마셔봤는데,,토니랑 다를 바 없이 달더라구요. 조금 비싸도 사 드실 계획이 있다면 20년산으로 강력 추천.. 일단 드셔보세요 그리고 입맛에 맞는 걸로 결정~

Las bodega más antigua de Porto con un trato excelente. Poco masificada. Nuestra visita fue para 5 personas. Está en la ribera sur y es una bodega muy cálida y familiar, vimos dos naves. Luego la cata la hicimos en una terraza al solecito. Genial

Definitely recommend stopping in at Croft if you're making the rounds of Porto ports. Actually, if I was going to recommend just the one port house to visit, it would be Croft. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting and tour is great value for money.

Staff muito atencioso e simpático. A visita dura cerca de 30 minutos, foca bastante o vinho do Porto, mas não aborda a história da cave.
Os vinhos são bons mas não extraordinários, mas o espaço é extremamente agradável, com lareira para o inverno e uma esplanada para o verão, o que só por si compensa já compensa a visita.
O preço da visita guiada à cave é de 14€ e inclui degustação de 3 vinhos (rosé, ruby reserva e 10 anos), mas também existem provas premium e a copo.

Visite faite hier 8 avril 2019. Christina notre guide était vraiment au top ! Une personne agréable, dynamique et cultivée avec qui on pourrait rester discuter des heures. De plus, très jolie cave. Je ne peux rien dire sur le Porto car je n'aime pas ça mais d'après ma copine qui a donc bu les miens en plus des siens c'était excellent !!

Bei der Auswahl läuft man zuerst irritiert rum. Bis ein netter Service einem die Abläufe erklärt. Führung mit Verkostung kostet. Ein Glas zur Probe aussuchen, hinsetzen und den Ort wirken lassen. Danach darf man kaufen...Seit 1588 ist schon ne Marke.

Estar no Porto e não visitar essa vinícola é como se não tivesse vindo aqui. Para mim o melhor vinho corrente do Porto, um vinho encorpado e suave ao mesmo tempo. Tudo é bonito, a visita não precisa ser agendada e custa em torno de 15 euros com direto a prova de três vinhos, porém, é necessário aguardar mais pessoas chegarem. Há um uma loja no local que é possível acessar e provar cubos sem fazer a visita as caves. O Croft 10 anos estava maravilhoso, aquele vinho que você bebe a garrafa toda sem perceber. Sugiro provar o corrente (rosé) e o reserva 10 anos acompanhado de chocolate.

Went on a wine tour and the guides were very informative. Some would even go as far as saying they are the Einsteins of the wining world. Wine and port was very affordable and delicious. If you enjoy these kinds of experiences please take the time and visit this place.

Visita corta y en obras, ves 2 salas una al lado de otra, entiendo que mucha gente este encantado si es la primera bodega que visita. Si sabes de vinos y te gusta visitar bodegas no pierdas aquí el tiempo. A parte han interrumpido unos señores con risas y vacilando(parecían los dueños o encargados). Indicar que el señor que hace la visita trabaja de forma muy profesional.

Una bodega interesante, con gente muy agradable y dedicada, donde poder degustar un buen vino con tranquilidad en su terraza, mientras te explican las notas de sabor de cada una de las variedades que ofrecen, y la carta de vinos tiene una buena variedad para probar, con posibilidad de compra. Las distintas variedades son exquisitas.
Es un sitio tranquilo y relajante y con unas vistas algo modestas pero bonitas. Más que recomendable!!

Merci pour la superbe visite (en français en plus!) de vos installations. La guide était très sympathique et semblait par dessus tout adorer son travail ainsi que le produit, bien entendu. Le porto était si bon que nous n'avons pas eu le choix d'en acheter pour ramener chez nous. En espérant y retourner lors de notre prochaine visite à Porto pour déguster vos délicieux produits.

This was my second trip to Porto but first time to Croft. The atmosphere here is lovely with quaint wine barrels and rustic stone. The staff are so knowledgeable about the port and are great guides to lead you through the tasting. Last year I went to Taylor which owns Croft and also had a good experience but I preferred Croft as it was more quaint and personable with staff who are much more interested in talking about the port. I highly recommend and would hate to see this place close.

Very delicious port wines. Tour (12€) includes three wine tastings. Very informative, but not too long. Nice atmosphere and not too crowded as further away from the main road. Staff very nice and helpful. Tour for children available at 5€, including delicious grape juice and biscuits.

Bodega pequeña pero está genial para conocer un poco más de cerca el vino de Oporto. Las visitas son un recorrido de aproximadamente una hora y después una cata de 3 vinos. Echamos en falta que a la hora de degustar el vino lo explicasen, simplemente dejaron las copas llenas y ya está, que cada uno se las bebiese como quisiese.

Refused to provide water when tasting port. The service was far below other port houses. The port seems fine, but I am really unhappy to be told that they are not allowed to provide tap water, when running a tap.... Just terrible service.

Service was amazing. Came in looking for a particular vintage from 80s that was hard to find. They did not have one but called all the cellars around and found one. They even let us taste test the difference between a 20 year tawny and vintage to see what style we prefer, even though we were almost definitely not going to buy the bottle there. Can’t say enough about the service. We also visited the location in the Douro valley which is stunning and again had great service.

Jedná se o jedno z nejstarších a nejtradičnějsích vinařství produkujících portské víno. Zakoupili jsme si komentovanou degustaci za 12€, ktera obsahovala prohlídku skladů a degustaci tři vín (růžové, ruby a 10 let staré towny). Úroveň angličtiny průvodkyně byla na velmi dobré úrovni. Vše bylo OK.

Croft hat 2007 den Rosé-Portwein erfunden und ist nur schon aus diesem Grund ein Besuch wert.
Der Pink Porto wird häufig für Cocktails verwendet.
Auf einen Rundgang haben wir verzichtet. Die Terrasse hat zu sehr zum Verweilen eingeladet.

Una visita increíble. Buscábamos alejarnos de los típicos tours de bodegas para turistas.
El precio son 10 euros. La bodega de ofrece una primera cata de vino nada más llegar, previamente a empezar el tour por las instalaciones. Las explicaciones son muy buenas y el edificio es original e increíble.
Al acabar la visita se realizan dos catas más.
Por el precio es una visita muy muy buena. Eso sí, recomiendo llamar primero por teléfono para informarse sobre los horarios de las visitas y en que idioma (si no lo cambian, se realizan a las 16:20 en español)
Acabamos comprando vino y eso que no somos ni muy expertos ni amantes del vino, pero el de la bodega nos encantó.

Durante uma visita ao Porto com mais 2 amigos, tentámos marcar antecipadamente uma visita às caves Croft por e-mail, ao qual nos foi respondido que seria apenas necessário a comparência nas caves até às 18h não sendo necessário a marcação. Qual não foi o nosso espanto quando chegámos às 17:40h ao local e nos disseram que não seria possível a realização da visita por falta de pessoal. O mínimo que se podia esperar uma vez que tinham o nosso contacto e sabiam da nossa intenção, era avisar que afinal não seria possível fazer a visita.

I chose this winery after reading the reviews here, and it was a wonderful choice :) Staffs were very professional, and there were few people around 12 pm (guess it was too early).
Croft port wine tasting was awesome and view from outside was also charming.
One of the staff explained to me that it would be closed down and change to a museum next year, so please visit there before!

Visited Croft Port for a guided tour and wine tasting of three selections. The tour guide we had was very professional and engaging. However, the tour itself was quite short and a bit disappointing. Could be improved by e.g. collective participation in the tastings of the Ruby and Tawny at the end of the tour instead of picking up a glass each and resorting to separate tables. Additionally, better recommendations and advice on the purchasing of accompanying chocolates to the port wines for tasting would improve the experience. All in all, it was a good visit. The prices for their different offerings were reasonable. Just a tip: try their chocolates with the wines!

Gran bodega con un local bien adecuado para una buena cata, no sera la bodega mas centrica ni la mas accesible, pero esta muy bien. Llegamos fuera de tiempo para hacer la visita guiada y aun asi nos enseñaros las instalaciones y bodega. Tambien tomamos la cata que corresponde a tres vinos dulces de diferentes añadas, los cuales estaban muy buenos. Personal muy amable y profesional. Muy recomendable la visita.

The route to Croft Port was a little bumpy, even on foot. Once I arrived, I was in awe with the interior. It was very historical and the staff there was approachable adn speaks good English. There was not a lot of people when I went, almost had the place to myself, sipping the Port Rosé, c'est la vie !

Wir hatten das Tasting für 15€ (entspricht 3 Portweinen). Wir saßen gemütlich am Kamin und haben die Ports genossen. Ansonsten ist es etwas kühl dort. Sehr nette Bedienung, die uns die Details zu den verschiedenen Portweinen erklärte. Tour kostet 14€, wir haben diese nicht in Anspruch genommen, da wir zu spät kamen.

Выбор производителя портвейна - дело вкуса (у Croft он как минимум хорош), но вот камин в холле, похоже, есть только здесь. А что может быть приятнее, чем посидеть зимним вечером у камина с бокалом...
P.S. экскурсия с дегустацией была познавательная и весьма интересная.

Family owned winery with good selection of port wines for tasting. The lady who helped us was very nice and told us about the process of making the wines we were tasting. Unfortunately we were there at noon and the next tour was at 2:00pm so we missed the tour. If you going there for the tour make sure your timing is aligned with the tour time.

Corporatey establishment. Big tasting room with a cavernous feel. The menu didn't offer anything exciting (mostly 90-point wines) so I didn't hang out for long. The service was nice but not knowledgeable - just knew the basics of the difference between tawney and vintage port.

We had a very nice tour and a tasting of 3 different Croft Ports. Marcia was an excellent guide who obviously was very excited about both the port and the Douro Region. Atmosphere was very friendly! I'd recommend it.

Great tour & tasting. The guide was charming and we ended up leaving with a bottle of Rose for the evening. All of the Port we tried at Croft was very good and paired well with bread & ham.

Worth the short hill hike. A surprisingly personal cellar tour, with a lovely local guide, filled with her own stories, and practical tips for best enjoying the delicious drink. We paid 14€ for tour and three tastings, enjoyed on their sunny secluded terrace with views of the Douro. Highly recommend.

Positive things: nice atmosphere, funny guide and good porto
Negative things: 14 euros for a 15 min tour is too much and not worth it. You don’t learn much about the entire fabrication process, how it differs from wine, and other alcohols nor learn how to identify fruit taste from the tasting.

Worth visiting for a port tasting and some cheese even if you don't do a tour. We enjoyed the croft experience tasting for €15 each which included a pink, reserve and a tawny.
The port was delicious and well worth a visit.

Muy bien, visita y degustación de tres vinos. La guía hablaba perfectamente español e inglés, muy simpática y dispuesta. La visita es corta pero explica muy claramente todo el proceso de maduración. No pongo 5 estrellas porque echamos de menos un poco de historia de la bodega, de los orígenes, además la visita acaba en las barricas, no ves el proceso de después. Aun así, la tarde en la bodega fue muy agradable.

Wonderful tour with Joanna. We were so lucky to have a private tour (fairly early in the morning). The tour was very informative and complete, and the port absolutely delicious. We especially liked the new, light Rosé port. Can't recommend Croft, or Joanna, enough.

Personal muy atento y simpático. La visita dura unos 30 minutos, enfoca bastante el vino de Oporto, pero no aborda la historia del sótano. Los vinos son buenos pero no extraordinarios, pero el espacio es extremadamente agradable, con chimenea para el invierno y una terraza para el verano, lo que sólo por usted compensa ya compensa la visita. We happened upon Croft by accident while walking to another port cellar, and we are really glad we did. The service and attention was phenomenal here, and it had our favorite ten year tawny. In addition, loved that they created the first port rose, which was delicious as well.

A manhã invernosa e com uma chuva torrencial tornou o ambiente magnificamente acolhedor.
A guia foi admirável na explicação de todo o processo e, acredito, que devido à pouca afluência de público, proporcionou-nos uma extremamente agradável visita. Quando saímos já vários grupos aguardavam a sua visita, pelo que possivelmente numa hora mais tardia o ambiente não seria o mesmo.

Очень понравился тур! включает в себя экскурсию и дегустацию трех напитков (розе, руби и Тони-10 лет), стоимость 10 евро/чел. Народу вообще не было, только мы с мужем, поэтому экскурсия получилась индивидуальной. Персонал просто супер, видно, что любят свою работу, рассказывают эмоционально и захватывающе ! В итоге прикупили 2 бутылки руби)

Bodega histórica de finales del XVIII. Instalaciones muy cuidadas y visita interesante, sobre todo por la elaboración artesanal que tienen sus vinos.
La visita tiene un coste de 10€ con degustación de 3 de sus vinos más emblemáticos.
Tienen una terraza muy agradable para la degustación.

설명을 아주 차분히 또박또박 얘기해주셔서 영어를 잘못해도 알아들을 수 있었고 마지막에 5년, 10년산 포트와인을 맛봤어요! 안쪽에 있어서 그닥 붐비지도 않고 분위기도 좋고 로비도 안락해서 너무 만족했던 곳이에요. 샨데만 안열어서 찾아가긴했는데 정말 후회없고 최고의 경험이었어요!

A quieter port winery, off the typical foot tour, but not to any disappointment. You can grab a flight and enjoy in the small patio or old wood barrel styled larger serving room. Sweet wines served with a smiling staff.

A few hundred metres off the beaten track, but worth it. It's the oldest port cellar in Porto. They have multiple tours every day in different languages, I'd recommend calling in advance to check timings for your language. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Our tour was led by a passionate guide. The €10 ticket gets you a 20 minute tour of the cellars along with the history and production of port, and a tasting of 3 different ports. Highly recommended if you're in Porto.

3시가 좀 넘어서 도착했는데 영어투어는 5시라 그래서 꽤 오래 기다려야 했어요. 10유로를 내면 3잔 시음할 수 있고, 투어 기다리는 동안 2잔을 먼저 내주어 마셨지요. 5시가 되니 사람들이 엄청 많아져서 거의 15명쯤 투어를 한 듯해요.
그래도 꽤 재밌었어요! 설명 되게 잘 해주셔가지구. 아, 포트와인은 엄청 달아요. 그리고 생각보다 세고요. 그러니까 단 와인 싫어하시는 분들은 굳이 투어 안 하셔도 될 듯해요.

Hicimos aquí la cata porque nos lo recomendaron en un Free Tour. Hay que subir un poco para llegar pero de verdad que merece la pena. Son 10€ por persona y te dan a probar 3 tipos de vino. Muy ricos. La guía que te hacen, de unos 30 minutos, también está muy bien.

Une très jolie cave à vin dont la visite s'avère assez instructive.
Les dégustations sont vraiment appréciables et les prix très corrects (10€ la visite plus les trois dégustations).
Petit bémol toutefois car la visite fut assez expéditive mais ça reste assez anecdotique devant le charme du lieu.

Interesting tour of buildings where the port is stored and explanations of how different types are made. Two ports to taste at first pink and ruby. Then a tour not too short not too long followed by a third port the 10 year old tawny. Good value at €10 per person. No need to book advance.

A nice short, informal tour that covers all the basics of port wine production. Knowledgeable guide willing to answer any questions about port in general and of course about Crofts port in particular. Tours are done in groups by language, cost 10 euro per person and for this you also get 3 tastings. Their pink, reserve and 10 year old tawny port.

Het is even vijf minuten verder lopen, maar daardoor ben je de touristen massa kwijt. Croft geeft een leuke rondleiding met goede informatie, inclusief drie goed gevulde glazen port (Pink, Ruby en 10 year old) voor slechts 10 euro. Ik vond de sfeer hier het best van al de porthuizen die ik bezocht heb.

Off the beaten path, a bit of a climb from the main street but well worth it. Tasting glass of port start at 3 euros. Good selection of bottles to purchase for a very good price. We did not do the tour, but the space is cozy and looks great in photos.

Хорошие место. Но цены высокие, как везде. Нет смысла тащиться сюда, в городе тот-же Порту дороже на 4 евро в Лиссабоне на 9 евро. Если есть время, можно просто зайти и выпить бокал порту, передохнуть. На экскурсии не был, может там более интересно.

This was a fantastic port tour experience. It is a little walk up the hill, but worth it. Now owned by a larger group, Croft port is the oldest port winery still in operation in Portugal. We were given good detail of the process of port making, why the cellars are located where they are and where the grapes are harvested. The experienced offered 2 port, trying a new rose port they have - this was great! A lovely alternative to very heavy, after meal ports. They were not pushy to sell their products and allowed you to have plenty of leisure time.

Nice experience but not for wine lovers. The setting is great, staff very friendly and the explanation of the process detailed, but the 3 ports they give you to try are not their best. One of them is a PINK port that they have created recently to tap into the summer drinking market, it's insanely sweet and not what I came here to try! A good tasting should be small glasses of good quality product with an explanation of the flavours, but this wasn't like that at all.

A visita é muito personalizada. Muito à medida de cada cliente porque tem pouca gente. Apenas porque fica mais longe da ribeira de Gaia. O que lhe proporciona uma visita calma, tranquila, romantica. No entanto, achei que foi passada demasiada informação histórica em detrimento de informação sobre o vinho do Porto. Mas a guia foi super simpática e atenciosa. Provámos 3 vinhos do Porto. Fantastic port tour experience! It's the oldest port winery still in operation in Portugal. Our English guide was very knowledgeable, giving us the history of port wine and it's importance to the city of Porto. We got to see the oak barrels the port is made in, as well as sample 3 different ports that were all different but delicious. After reading a few different winery reviews, I'm happy we went to Croft because it was a great experience. It didn't feel like we were being pushed to buy their products at all, nor did it feel like a museum it was very informative.

Getting off the beaten track means less crowds and actually we got here just before a very large group arrived. We ordered a standard tasting of three, some almonds and chocolate. We also ordered the 1995 Vintage. We were served the first part of our order straight away and introduced to what each port was good for pairing however we waited a while for the vintage as the staff were busy with the tour group. In the end I went in to remind the staff and we were promptly served with a detailed introduction and a very generous glass. Did you know once you open a bottle of vintage it must be drunk within a few hours? In this case they pierce the cork with a contraction that allows the bottle to remain airtight. Very cool! Recommended!

The visit lasts for about 30 minutes. Somewhat out of the beaten path, so it's very quiet. Two port wines are initially served : a pink one and a red one. After the visit, a tawny port wine is served. They were all very delicious. 5€ for the experience.

Croft is een van de oudste porthuizen in de regio Porto. De wijnkelders van Croft liggen op een steile heuvel in Vila Nova da Gaia en hebben een stijlvolle ontvangstruimte. Ook worden er hier rondleidingen in meerdere talen aangeboden. Hoewel deze inhoudelijk de uitvoerigste was van de drie die ik heb meegemaakt, sprak de gids dermate snel dat de rondleiding slechts een half uur heeft geduurd. Net als elders eindigde de rondleiding met een proefsessie, waarin men twee heerlijke portwijnen (een ruby port en een tawny port) kreeg.
