We love places with history and people who genuinely enjoy having you as a guest. This was that and much more. The location and the views of the Douro are extraordinary. Francisco was an excellent host and we look forward to seeing him again.

Peaceful and beautiful Quinta with world class views. Lovely place with genuine old world charm, superbly placed for wine lovers interested in Douro reds (not just port, the unfortified wines use similar grape blends and are just as enjoyable). Our host Francisco was very helpful driving us to the nearest supermarket so we didn't starve. Views are just amazing from the house, but do use the train station at Mosteiro (8 mins drive), to visit Porto (and port lodges) downriver, and Pinhao and Regua (upriver, where the best vineyards are located). We had a great meal at Quinta da Pacheca, where I can vouch the LBV Port is superior to Taylor's. No mean feat.

What an amazing place,Such lovely scenery everywhere you look,great local cuisine and Fransisco the owner just could not be more helpful and friendly......only back a few days and i'm already missing this idyllic hideaway.
