This is a unique and beautiful property. A family home that became a museum, it was recently restored with the original, century-old frescoes of Portuguese country life lining the walls of the staircase and lounge. The rooms are large and well-appointed with high, decorated ceilings and antique furniture. The owners, Maria and Joao, and their able assistant, Ana, will go out of their way to make you feel at home. The included breakfast is superb, with a wide selection of cold cuts, cheeses, fruits and Portuguese pastries. A ten minute walk downhill (Porto is hilly!) brings you to the historic district, with many fine shops and restaurants. If youre looking for a classic homestay, with genuine Portuguese warmth and hospitality, you cant beat the Palace Museum Palmeiras!

Lovely little place with amazing hosts. The hotel itself is a beautiful buildings and the room was clean and fresh but retained all of its old school charm. Ana kept in contact all of the time via WhatsApp and welcomed me with a glass of port and some nuts. Sadly I did not do the breakfast justice as it was so much food, all of it delicious. Would defiantly stay again

This very unique hotel is actually a historical heritage. We are pleasantly surprised by the magnificent ambience and superb service. Go find out the beauty of this hotel and you will fall in love with it too.

Contained in a home built in 1850 with original furnishings, if you are looking for a unique Porto experience, this is it. Marilda is your host and she is full of great conversation, great tips and suggestions. Breakfast is family style and you won’t want to leave the delicious food, all fresh Portuguese specialities. If you are offered a tour of the 2 sitting salons and some of the other rooms, do so. There are 5 beautifully decorated rooms that will leave you wishing that you had stayed longer. A short 15 minute (downhill) walk to the city centre and close to good restaurants. It is also close to the Trinidade metro that goes straight to the Port Cavas on the other side of the Douro. Highly recommend this hotel!

We could not quite believe the service we received from this hotel. From late arrival and a warm welcome to include a glass of port and biscuits, to the most amazing breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble. A very early start was met with a gorgeous array of food to help ourselves too before we went out, so we didn’t leave on an empty stomach. We truly were treated like part of the family, and make to feel like this was our home from home in Porto. Then the accommodation itself was truly breathtaking. The most amazing suite, beautiful decor and everything you could wish for. A recommendation to visit somehow doesn’t seem enough, simply put, a stay here for would be one of the most incredible experiences you will have anywhere. The location is also a fantastic base from which to explore Porto.

Uniquely beautiful, historic, spacious, comfortable museum; extraordinary, gracious and accommodating hosts. Made us feel like welcomed guests in their home; very special experience! Would definitely stay here again. This is not a hotel; it’s a unique experience much more than a “Bed & Breakfast”.

This is an amazing place to stay while in Porto! Built in 1850 with original paintings and charm. The location is terrific because it is walking distance to so many sight seeing areas, yet so quite and relaxing as soon as you walk inside the beautiful interior. The beds are great, each room has AC and Wifi. The breakfast and service are fantastic. The host will make you feel so special, they are wonderful people. Look forward to staying there again.

Unique small hotel whose owners and manager treated us as friends . They gave us a marvellous introduction into Portuguese life. This hotel is for a discerning traveller . It will be a truly memorable visit.

The palace rooms are each beautifully and uniquely decorated, the gardens are serene, and the staff make you feel like family. We were treated to a delightful tour of the home and the gardens, highlighting the history that has been passed down through both artwork and heirloom pieces, and demonstrating the passion Maria has for her home and her country. Marilda is a wonderful hostess, knowledgeable about all aspects of Porto and eager to make guests feel like royalty. We loved that we were in a beautiful and historic home right in the middle of Porto, convenient by foot to famous churches and museums, restaurants and markets, as well as to public transportation.

A stay in this hotel - a marvelous historical building , situated in the old part of Porto, is like living in somebody’s home. From the minute you enter the house, you are treated by the lovely staff, as if you were the most important person in the World. We cannot praise this hotel enough.

Beautiful historic home in a perfect location, close to everything but still quiet at night. The service was fabulous and the breakfast every morning was delicious. We loved the history behind the home and felt like we had a real Portuguese experience vs. staying in a hotel. Highly recommend ❤️

Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in in all our travels. The palace was not only beautiful and comfortable, but the hospitality is unlike anything else we have experienced. Highly recommend staying here whenever you visit Porto and we will definitely be back in the future!

If you want a special stay in a European old mansion rather than an apartment-style hotel, youd better choose this place.170-year-old four-story building, full of old paintings and art works, once used a museum gives you a complete satisfaction. The kindness of the master doubles even the impression of Porto.Dont miss looking around the backyard as wide as a woods.
