Almost a year since we've last been at Bota & Bira and still feels like yesterday. If you are looking for a incredible and REAL experience, it is the place to go to when in Porto. Nothing fancy, a cosy setting almost family-like, exceptional food and a most friendly owner... what else should one need ? You guys have got to discover this place. Just go and enjoy... on us ! Looking forward to coming back after this crisis will settle down

Una experiencia gastronomica. Fuimos anoche con mí pareja. Comimos gambas al ajillo, croquetas de champignones y un plato principal de pulpo asado que estaba buenísimo, un postre y un vino. 50 euros. Esta siempre lleno así que conviene reservar. La persona que nos atendió (entendí que se llama Elder) se convirtió en nuestro amigo por un rato, recomendandonos los mejores platos y el vino, un gran servicio. Recomiendo sin dudar y me gustaría volver algún día.

Highly recommended! We went on a Friday and the waiter was very kind to sort us a table. A small intimate place, you have to be patient for the waiter but he makes your evening very enjoyable. The tapas dishes we had were all delicious. Others in the restaurant had steaks which looked amazing. Worth very euro

You know the movie Ratatouille? I had my "Ratatouille Moment" there with the veal stew! But i am sure, there was no mouse in the kitchen! Great service, great place, just fabolous!

Bota and Bira is a welcoming little restaurant, an unassuming steakhouse but when you read the menu it's a serious steakhouse. The cuts of beef on offer are by no means small, definitely have to share and the waitstaff will be adamant on not cooking it more than medium. With two sides accompanying the dry aged steak, we only ordered the mushroom croquettes to start which needed slightly more seasoning to make them perfect. The steak was a little too under for our liking. It needed to be more thoroughly prepped to remove the sinew and could've done with a bit more charring to caramelise the steak. A sauce could be offered to enjoy the steak more as well. Mentioning it to the waiter, he was apologetic and offered a dessert on the house. Although the food was not as great as we had hoped based on the reviews, the hospitality at Bora and Bira is fantastic. The service created a pleasant dining experience and we hope that the food can eventually equally match. We'd try it again and would recommend to friends.

El restaurant és molt petit i acollidor, el menú del dia molt complet (inclou beguda, pa i cafè) a un preu genial. Ingredients bàsics com el pollastre, les patates i altres verdures cuinats i combinats de la millor manera per crear plats boníssims. Per no parlar del tracte proper, amable i professional dels cambrers. Molt recomanable!

J ai pris le plat du jour où vous avez le choix entre viande ou poisson accompagné d une garniture simple, un repas maîtrisé et qui a du goût !! 7€ entrée plat cafe et une biere . Si je travaillais à côté, j y serais tous les jours. Sans compter un service souriant. Mon regret, ne pas avoir le temps de goûter tous les autres plats sur leur carte.

Petit restaurant steack house très bon. La déco est superbe. Le service au top. Et la qualité des plats aussi. Nous avons pris la formule du jour à 11€ avec soupe du jour, plat du jour (deux choix), pain, boisson et café. Nous avions deux escalopes de poulet panées avec une très grosse portion de riz aux haricots rouges et chorizo pour accompagner. Les portions sont bien servies. Pour nos deux enfants le serveur, qui a été très gentil, nous a proposé de leur faire une viande grillée pour deux (largement suffisant pour deux garçons de 5 et 8 ans) avec une belle portion de chips maison. Un vrai régal. Leur viande était tendre et délicieuse.
Le service est rapide.

Sin duda uno de los mejores restaurantes en nuestro viaje a Oporto. Leí la recomendación en un blog de viajes y fue un gran acierto. La carne estaba increíble, se notaba la buena calidad del producto, y el postre también riquísimo. El local es muy acogedor y el trato de los camareros no pudo ser mejor.

Brilliant food, brilliant experience. Popped in at 8.30pm, was told they'd have a table at 9pm, so strolled down to the waterfront to kill time. Amazing quality beef, perfectly seasoned (sides too!). Was very full but had to get dessert! Tasty house red for just over €10 a bottle. A gem in Porto!

Pedimos las patatas bravas de entrante y la black angus para dos con arroz y boniato (estos acompañamientos están incluidos y hay más donde elegir) y todo estaba ideal. Visita obligada si visitáis la ciudad.

Entre semana disponen de un menú a 6,50€ sin bebidas.
De primero nos ofrecieron una sopa de legumbres que estaba muy rica.
De segundo un arroz con pescado banco y un guiso de conejo con verduras.

Auf TripAdvisor als Tipp entdeckt und schon vor Lokalöffnung vor Ort gewesen - das ist auch definitiv zu empfehlen, wenn man nicht reserviert hat! Das Lokal hat vielleicht für 20 Personen Platz und die Hälfte der Tische war mindestens reserviert.
Das Essen sieht nicht nur super aus, es war auch wirklich lecker! Die Mitarbeiter waren nicht nur kompetent, sondern auch witzig und haben uns endlich mal genau erklärt, wie das mit "Obrigado, obrigada" abläuft.
Absolut zu empfehlen und wirklich leckeres Fleisch.

We had the black Angus for two with two sides on dec 1st 2019
Steak was great. Rice and salted vegetables were okay. Only thing was their "medium rare" is more like "rare".I couldn't eat some portions in the middle. Was too raw for my likings.

I just happened upon this place as I walked by and I stopped, turned, and walked in. Wonderful atmosphere, warm welcome, great music. A lovely last night in Porto. Wir fanden das Restaurant sehr lecker und gemütlich! Es ist nicht sehr groß, so dass es auch nicht sehr laut dort ist!
Das Essen war sehr sehr gut und für die Preise wirklich der Hammer!!
Für Vegetarier ist es allerdings ziemlich schwer was zu finden bei den Hauptgängen.
Das Personal war sehe freundlich und man hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt!
Man kann auch sehr gut in legèrer Kleidung dort hin gehen :)
Rund um war es ein sehr schöner und leckerer Abend.

I definitely suggest you to have dinner at this amazing and lovely restaurant! the waiters are really kind and the place is lovely decorated. we ate the garlic prawns, the seafood Panade and the bacalhau with sweet potatoes and veggies. the food was just amazing and the portions were really big. For the amazing food and the big portions the price is measurable!

Un petit restaurant au décor très sympathique, un plat du jour à 6,50€ qui m’a permis de découvrir un plat à base de poulet typiquement portugais ! Les plats à la carte sont plus chers mais la qualité est là, la tarte au citron était revisitée et très bonne ! Le serveur était super sympa également. Je recommande !

Delicious food and impeccable service. This means that the place, which is small, will get filled quickly, and you may have to wait 20-30 minutes for lunch (maybe more for dinner). Fortunately you can grab a beer in the sun right around the corner...

Lille intimt og meget hyggeligt sted, her er fokus på lækkert oksekød, steak og mørbrad, velhængt, mørt og smagfuldt.
Betjeningen er uovertruffen venlig humoristisk og meget energisk, vi får en helt speciel oplevelse af Raquel som serverer og holder "hof", det er den ekstra stjerne værd.
Jeg vil anbefale at bestille bord da indretningen er til maks 20 gæster og denne aften er der en del i kø udenfor.

Best dinner we had in Porto! The food was super delicious and the chocolate cake as a dessert the perfect way to finish. The waiters are very friendly as well and overall it has a very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend this to anybody who appreciates good quality meat. PS: Don't forget to reserve or be there early or you won't get a spot - it's quite tiny.

One of the best meals we have ever eaten, period. Among amazing restaurants throughout Porto and Portugal, this stood out as the best. Beautiful, cozy location only has 9 tables, and limited seatings. The staff are gregarious, nice and downright fun. Very helpful in selecting food, wine and dessert. She even crowdsourced the best sides to go with our (frickin amazing) black angus steak. Turns out sweet potato and mushrooms were the favorites--and we were not disappointed. Overall, a gem of a restaurant with spectacular food that is a steal for the price.

Działo się !!! Polowaliśmy na tę knajpę od paru dni i wkońcu dotarliśmy. Absolutnie cudowny stek szefa kuchni z ryżem i przyprawianymi ziemniaczkami. Do tego przepyszne wino regionalne Beyra!!! Tak powinna wyglądać wizyta w restauracji!!! Podpisujemy się pod tą knajpą!!!

This is just one of those places that you want to come back to over and over again. Not just because of the amazing steak and amazingly cheap side dishes which are fantastic (focus stays on the expensive cuts of delicious meat) but the service is one of a kind. Our waiter was attentive, funny, kind, personable, and all around made the meal an extremely enjoyable experience. I can’t say enough good stuff about this place!

My husband and I visited Porto for a few days, and this was the first restaurant we visited when we arrived in Porto. We had their Octopus and T-Bone steak for our first visit. The waiter was kind with quick wit. Amazing food and vibe. This is a cozy restaurant, but it really makes the whole experience better because the waiter is so attentive. We had to visit here again before we leave Porto, so it was the last restaurant we visited in Porto. We had Rib-eye, garlic shrimp, bbq, and mushroom croquettes. Again everything was phenomenal. My personal favorite dish was the octovpus dish, but everything here is truly delicious. We had a different waiter serving our table for the second visit, he also did a great job, with great kindness, professionalism and wit. We were the only table that did not reserve the table. I highly recommend that you make a reservation ahead, as it's a very popular restaurant with limited space.
We want to come back to Porto, and this restaurant is one of the reasons why we will come back to this gorgeous city one day.

Nuestra experiencia fue el sábado 15 de febrero. Muy buena elección. Una gran selección de vinos (pedimos una botella de Diálogo por sugerencia del camarero y nos encantó).
El Black Angus es una maravilla (éramos dos personas con gustos del punto de la carne totalmente diferente y nos lo sirvieron tal cual nos gusta: la mitad muy poco hecho y la otra mitad en su punto). Se puede observar la calidad de sus carnes en una nevera de la sala y el personal te aconseja qué elegir según tus gustos.
Como acompañamiento recomendamos las legumbres (el arroz no nos gustó demasiado). La atención y el servicio espectacular y el ambiente muy acogedor, especialmente por el camarero, quien hace que te sientas cómodo en todo momento. Lugar de referencia en Porto.
Es imprescindible reservar con antelación para disfrutar de este local.

Man sollte reservieren (Englisch, spanisch, französisch, portugiesisch, alles fließend am Telefon) oder sehr früh kommen, d.h. ca. 19 Uhr oder gleich mittags.
Top ist auch, wenn man als Pärchen einem 4er Tisch hat, wird keiner dazugesetzt...

Todo fue perfecto desde el momento que llamamos para reservar. No nos podíamos imaginar ni de lejos la experiencia que nos esperaba en el local. The lunch special for under €8 ea came with beverage ( I had vino tinto, my husband had beer) also came with delicious vegetable soup in a very charming cast iron pot and we chose the meat option which was roasted pork with potatoes and rice.... for anyone staying in Portugal for any length of time you become accustomed to French fries and white rice.... so imagine how delightful it was to see a variation on this theme with roasted seasoned baby potatoes and carrots and delicious flavorful rice.... when I tried my first bite of the pork though, I nearly swooned, it was fork tender and perfectly seasoned... to say that the flavors of this meal nearly brought me to tears is not an understatement, I literally felt it feeding my heart and my soul...not sure if it was the perfect comfort food for the day that had me in such rapture or that it reminded me so much of my mom’s cooking ( although no disrespect to my mom, this pork and this meal was in a class by itself) . Finished off with a great cup of coffee and I know this is a meal that I will remember as a highlight of my time here...
You could tell from all of the other patrons the care that they take with their food, it is more than a plate of the day, it is an experience to be enjoyed, more than once if you are able.... the place is tiny so get there early or make reservations, you won’t be disappointed and I can’t wait to go back for dinner!

On sais arrêter ce soir avec mon copain en espérant trouver une place et ce fût bon on a très très bien manger des plats excellent servis par un charmant serveur attentif a tout les client qui parle français anglais portugais et sûrement d'autre langue. La verdad es que fuimos torpes no sabiendo reservar por teléfono pero tuvimos la ocurrencia de preguntarles que sitio nos recomendarían y nos mandaron al Vinha Dhalo y fue espectacular la cena, así que, si la comida esta a la altura de la recomendación debe estar buenísimo. Solo nos queda un día en Oporto así que tendremos que volver para conseguir probarlo. Gracias chico con gafas, mi chico y yo no te conocemos pero eres majísimo.

The first lunch I had there was so-so, but the second time I went there, I had the best meal for the most amazing price in Lisboa and Porto during my 7-day stay. You need to find the right meal for you, and there will be a great, warm-hearted meal when you do.
If you are lucky you will be able to get a seat without a reservation. But I also saw many who had to turn back without it.

This is a small place with a total capacity of around 25 people. The service was amazing, as was all the food we ate, specially the steak (we had the T-bone). They really take their time to prepare all the food and you can taste that. Seems that you absolutely must make a reservation due to the size and personalized service they provide. Jesus! Favorite place of all time in Porto. If you're a meat lover, you HAVE to go there. The chef is a fabulous cook and knows his pieces of meat.

En primer lugar destacar la atención que nos ofreció el camarero, de lo mejor que me he encontrado sin duda. La comida esquisita, del primer al último plato. Mi pareja tiene negocios de hostelería por lo cual sabemos que una atención tan buena y los productos tan ricos que nos han ofrecido es algo difícil de conseguir. Wir kamen auf gut Glück ohne Reservierung. Eigentlich war schon alles besetzt aber der nette Herr, der uns später auch so charmant bedient hat meinte, er lässt uns jetzt nicht ohne Essen auf der Straße stehen. Also organisierte er uns einen Tisch und wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend. Wir wurden bestens beraten und aßen das Black Angus Steak mit Gemüse und Reis. Alles drei war perfekt zubereitet und auch der Wein war exzellent. Wir können das Bota&Bira uneingeschränkt empfehlen! Die Atmosphäre, der Service und das Essen könnten besser nicht sein. Und die Preise gehen auch in Ordnung.

Petit restaurant avec un maximum de 20 places assises. Spécialisé dans les tapas et la bonne viandes. Nous nous sommes régalés avec une entrecôte maturée. Le lieu et très sympa et très convivial. Le service super, le serveur parlant plusieurs langue y compris le français. Prix un peu au dessus de la moyenne à Porto mais mérité au vue de la qualité des plats.

둘이 가서 빵 +와인 두잔(그린와인) +스프 +메인요리 두 개 (송아지 스테이크, 생선요리) +에스프레소 두잔 해서 15유로에요 ㅋ 심지어 넘 맛있었음. 또 가고싶어서 물어보니 매일 런치 메뉴가 바뀐대요. 런치세트 메뉴판을 따로 안주고 설명 안해줘서 별도로 물어보고 시켰어요.
반은 현지인 반은 외국인인 것 같아 보였고 예약은 꼭 하는게 좋을거에요.

Estaba el día de ayer con mi novio en el local y habían dos parejas más haciendo la fila para ingresar al establecimiento, el mesero encargado sólo hablaba con la primera pareja, incluso estaban tomando vino en la puerta, la verdad no sé si fue porque ellos lo habían comprado o fue el mismo mesero quién se los ofreció en gesto de disculpas, en fin el caso es que las otras dos parejas que estábamos haciendo la fila no recibimos ningún tipo de atención, al realizar la fila por más de media hora habíamos decidido marcharnos del lugar, pero se desocupó una mesa en el mismo instante y el mesero encargado después de que esperamos aproximadamente 40 minutos en el local afuera esperando una mesa nos dice que no nos puede atender, lo que nos podía haber dicho hacía mucho tiempo y evitarnos la espera, la verdad no sé que pensaba el mesero al vernos hacer la fila y no pensar que queríamos ingresar al local, para mí fue un gesto muy descortés y falta de delicadeza, si bien es cierto que cerraban a las 11 perfectamente nos pudieron haber dicho con antelación que no nos iban a atender.
Según la respuesta del dueño significa que si quieres ir al lugar debes de tener reserva, porqué si haces la fila, ellos creen que a ti te gusta ir a ver a la gente comer y no asumen que por consiguiente quieres ingresar al lugar. La verdad muy mala atención y no digo nada acerca de ma comida porque se veía deliciosa incluso fuí porqué me lo recomendaron. En cuando a que mas respeto por favor, en ningún momento he insultado ni he sido grosera con nadie, simplemente estoy dando a conocer mi experiencia en el lugar

En primer lugar destacar el trato del personal. En segundo lugar, la comida muy bien preparada y a un precio muy bueno. El día que fuimos entre semana tenían menú por 7.5€ con sopa de primero y un segundo de carne o pescado a elegir más el café (y el postre aparte del menú). Aun así, la carta fuera de menú tenía precios muy asequibles. Si volviéramos a Oporto repetiríamos.

Un Restaurante espectacular en calidad de la carne, nosotros probamos Black Angus y T-Bone y realmente le doy un 10 en calidad de la carne, el trato con el camarero-dueño muy simpático y muy agradable. Lo recomiendo a 100 % no podéis marcharos de Porto sin ir a probar éste Restaurante

Tellement bon ! Prenez la viande, elle est vraiment excellente et à partager à 2. Les prix pour la viande pour 2 varie entre 36 et 53 euros. Cadre sympa, serveur qui parle français très poli et agréable. Je recommande vivement d'y aller c'est un petit bijou. Le seul bémol est que nous ayons attendu 30minutes devant alors que nous avions une réservation, mais ils méritent tout de même 5 étoiles.

Después de dos intentos sin éxito, llegábamos media hora antes del cierre...conseguimos que nos sentaran a una mesa. Tiene gran afluencia, supongo que por el rango de precios de TripAdvisor y la gran cantidad de buenas críticas. El lugar es pequeño, bonito y acogedor, acompañaba música de Manu Chao, el chico que atiende las mesas es fan, y un gran profesional, muy amable. Our final night in Porto and Portugal and Bota&Bira made it one to remember. The garlic shrimp, octopus salad and ribs were all sensational. Although it may be on the slightly more expensive side for Porto, this distinction is immediately clear. I’m thankful we booked yesterday because we must have seen at least a dozen groups ask for a table, only to be turned away. The food was great but the service exceptional! Exercise patience as this is a one man show and considering the effort involved, he works the room flawlessly. Order the chocolate cheesecake, indulge and think about the (very reasonable) bill tomorrow.

We were lucky enough to have this place recommended to us and happened to walk by and make a reservation yesterday. We watched many people walk in hoping to get seated, only to be turned away. Our server was, without a doubt, the best sever we have had in a restaurant in many many years. It was a real, organic, un-rushed and beautiful experience. There was no effort to oversell or rush us, although we could understand if they had. The demand was there. Instead, it was our favorite meal 9 days into a trip centered on food.
My wife loved her food. I enjoyed mine but also could have ordered differently with better results.
If you enjoy the entire process of dining out, and value small intimate settings with wonderful personality, this is a great choice.
I couldn’t recommend it more. We loved it.

Muy buena comida y muy amables. Disponen de menú del día entre semana con sopa, principal y café, bastante bien de precio (7.5 euros). Totalmente recomendable. Aconsejaría reservar ya que el primer día que fuimos nos daban para después de hora y media. Al segundo día tuvimos que esperar media hora.
No paraba de llegar gente pidiendo mesa y el sitio no es muy grande.

Fuimos sin reserva, nos hicieron un hueco a última hora. Tuvimos que esperar un poco, ante esa espera nos ofrecieron dos cervezas (que no fueron cobradas después).
La comida fue muy buena, al igual que la atención.
Hubo un problema de última hora y es que se estropeó el datáfono, debido a la "alergia" a las tarjetas que tienen en muchos lugares de oporto llevábamos efectivo.

What an experience! We reserved a table for 6, when we arrived we were overwhelmed by the cosy atmosphere and a warm welcome by the owner.
The starters were delicious, we recommend the ribs especially. For mains, the tomahawk is a no-brainer, it was perfectly tender. We combined the mains with a bottle of red wine recommended by the owner, a great decision, he knows a great deal about local wines. To finish of the evening the owner suprised us with a delicious port.
All in all, a perfect experience we will never forget!

Nos sorprendió. Por fuera no llama la atención y no está en una calle principal. Pero nada más entrar nos atendieron divinamente. Pedimos dos menús a 7€ por persona, muy rico.
Y durante toda la comida se preocuparon de si estaba todo a nuestro gusto.
Si váis a O Porto no dejéis de ir a Bota & Bira.

Service was excellent - felt like we were the only people there even though it was a packed house! The food was delicious, I recommend the mushroom croquettes which are like fancy mushroom jalapeno pepper poppers. The special sauce for the house steak was rich with flavors of rosemary and herbs that mingled with the steak to make a symphony on my tounge.

Tuvimos una mala experiencia aquí. Al llegar después de ojearlo en valoraciones, vimos que estaba lleno pero una mesa estaba acabando. Nos dijo el chico que en 15min estaba lista, tardó 30min, la mesa estuvo vacía y sin preparar 20min., La comida no esta mal, pero es excesivamente cara para lo que ofrece, nos tomaron el pelo, creo que nos dieron otra carta con otros precios, y luego al pedir la cuenta tardó el simpático camarero casi 30 minutos!! El local solo tenía 4 mesas en ese momento y 1 camarero, deben mejorar el servicio y el respeto.

Lo escogimos para una celebración especial y podemos decir que fue el mejor restaurante en el que estuvimos en nuestras vacaciones. La comida genial (pimientos del padrón, bacalao y bife), tanto en calidad como en cantidad. Pero es que el camarero nos hizo sentir como clientes de toda la vida. Incluso tuvieron un detalle increíble con nosotros. Seguid así!
