L’originalité de l’hôtel vaut le détour ! De belles petites attentions dans la chambre. Le seul point négatif est le confort du lit. Du moins dans la chambre #12. Le matelas est vraiment horrible ! On avait l’impression de dormir sur un sommier.

Hotel e ristorante unico e meraviglioso. Per una vacanza indimenticabile. Camerieri gentili, cucina eccellente (per noi cena e colazione con torte appena sfornate) atmosfera fantastica e cena con artista brasiliano che ha allettato il nostro tempo con ottima musica suonata e cantata dal vivo. Lo consigliamo di tutto cuore.

古い建物なので、鍵がかかりにくい。水回りの故障も多いが、今回は大丈夫だった。フロントのスタッフは親切で、何かあったらすぐに対応してくれる。本がたくさんあって、オシャレな雰囲気。オビドスの城壁入り口の近くなので、町散策も行きやすい。

Love living in the books. The room was spacious and we were quite happy. The only problem was a lack of a lift so we had to carry our heavy luggage up and down. They helped up but not down. The restaurant was excellent and we had wine on the terrace before dinner too. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

The Literary Man is a completely lovely hotel . We enjoyed the overall aesthetic here very much - old stone convent meets modern library , good food and drink , friendly and very competent staff . Our room was beautiful and serene ; the courtyard was so comfortable , quiet , and beautiful .

The Library man hotel has a cool decoration and is very special. But, it is more like a 2-3 star hotel comparing it’s rooms, amenities, food (very basic brake fast) etc to other 4 star hotels.
Location is great, just of the wall of Obidosh.

Stayed a night in the hotel. Excellent customer service.
Beautiful setting and of course lots of books!! Beds and sheets were clean, washroom can be updated a bit but overall not bad.
Breakfast is amazing with lots of jams and baked goods. Dinner was ok, everything is freshly made and lots of care was taken.
There is a volunteer library near entrance of the wall where you can exchange books. This is highly reccomended to check out as well.

Das Ambiente ist originell, das Personal sehr bemüht, die Zimmereinrichtung aus altem Sperrholz und Böden im Vintage Look keineswegs akzeptabel. Zwischen Style und Schmutz kein Unterschied. Abgebrochene Kacheln, ein rausgerissener Boden mit Plastik überstrichen und auch der Außenbeleuchtung wirkt ungepflegt. Das Abendessen ist überteuert und die Getränke in einem solchen Haus erst recht. Altes Brot in einer zerknäulten Tüte, Gläser mit getrockneten Wassertropfen und das Frühstücksbüffet in einer Küche deren Boden einfach dreckig wirkt. Sorry, Idee mit Büchern ist gut, aber das war es dann schon. Saubere Teller, Gläser und Besteck wären gut, ebensolche Fußböden. Es wirkt alles gammelig und veraltet.

The concept here is good but the rooms need a refresh. Mattress springs can be felt when lying down. Wifi is not strong enough to reach the room. Poor ventilation (and musty smell) in rooms.

Un hotel original, sorprendente y con una excelente oferta gastronómica. Hace honor a su nombre y es un placer perderse por el laberinto de pasillos forrados con miles de libros. Un auténtico disfrute para los amantes de la lectura y el buen gusto.

El hotel es espectacular, un lujo para los sentidos. Las habitaciones de la parte nueva son cómodas y están limpias. El desayuno no es muy variado, pero es suficiente. El punto negro: la atención, pedimos tomar un gin tonic en el gin-bar, y media hora después del "vengo en un minuto" nos fuimos hastiados de esperar... En ese tiempo 8 personas más llegaron al bar y se fueron sin poder tomarse nada.

The Literary Man hotel sits just outside of the Obidos city walls - away from the throngs of tourists. Whether you are a book fan or not, this hotel is cozy and inviting, with thousands of books and unusual knick-knacks everywhere throughout the hotel. Dont bother looking for another restaurant in Obidos........The Literary Man on-site restaurant was very good and one of the employees is a mixologist, specializing in gin, which made for an interesting dining experience. They have just opened another restaurant on the main square of Obidos called The History Man, which also looked inviting. This hotel was one of our favorites on a 10-day trip to Portugal.

My niece booked a couple night in this hotel as a surprise -for me and what a surprise it was! I'm a library worker, and although I love books, I love putting them in a sensible and accessible order even more .... so when I first walked in and saw books everywhere, floor to ceiling bookshelves, every table, chairs, chaise lounges, baskets ... books piled on just about every flat surface. Well, I nearly fainted - How on earth are they organising these? dewey, genre, colour coding?
It was all at once beautiful and stressful - I also checked for fire extinguishers and ceiling sprinklers because there is a hell of a lot of incendiary material there.
The breakfast amazing! the service very very good, the rooms fantastic, fresh, clean, comfortable and lovely views all around. Oh, and you must go to the little restaurant next door when they have Fado - I imagine you cannot get more Portugese than that.

If youre a book-o-phile, youll love it here. If books arent really your thing, youll still enjoy the creativity in using them as decor. My fave spot is the restaurant/library (with live music some evenings), followed by the breakfast bar. My room and bathroom were spacious, I had a private patio, and I quite enjoyed my stay. If I need to overnight in the area again, Id definitely return here.

Restaurante óptimo com ambiente e uma excelente refeição. Infelizmente as sobremesas não responderam às expectativas criadas.
No final, estava tudo tão bom que não merecia uma mousse instantânea disfarçada.
Mas no geral, original e muito bom.

È in assoluto il più bell'hotel in cui abbia mai soggiornato, già dall'ingresso ti fa capire quanto siano importanti i libri per la città, tant'è che la struttura ne ha più di 65.000 (la maggior parte in inglese).
Sei circondato dai libri in ogni dove, persino sulla strada per i bagni e nella sala ristorante.
La stanza in cui ho soggiornato era enorme (balcone, 2 bagni, stanza da letto e sala da lettura), con lunica pecca, essendo la struttura vecchia, di essere un po' fredda (c'è comunque un condizionatore per regolarne la temperatura).
Il personale è molto gentile e disponibile e le colazioni sono abbondanti.

Il più bel hotel dove io sia mai stato, 65 mila libri ( la maggior parte in inglese) si mischiano all'interno in tutte le aree comuni come la cucina il ricevimento la sala ristorante e il bar. Una vera biblioteca nell' hotel e viceversa, personale davvero gentile e preparato, il ristorante non è troppo caro vista la location e le materie prime , tutto ottimo ma si potrebbero migliorare i dolci. Unica nota negativa; la camera era un pó fredda e solo un termoconvettore non bastava. Però erano presenti due bagni e molto spazio extra, notevole la selezione di Gin e vini locali. Promosso a pieni voti.

Quartos muito desconfortáveis, colchões duros, almofadas demasiado fofas, cobertores curtos, casa de banho fria, afua fria, etc...
Preço demasiado caro para a oferta.
Paguei 30€ por cana extra para criança de 08 anos
No total 140€ por uma noite. Pior experiência de sempre em Portugal!

A trendy old convent converted to an Arte House Hotel.Food,wine and staff could not be faulted.Obidos is a beautiful historic town within the city wall.The Literary Man is a great base to explore Obidos and the surrounding region. Would suggest at least a 3 to 5 night stay to get the best out your holiday.

Absolutely loved my stay here! It was even more charming than I had anticipated!! My room was absolutely stunning and I could have happily stayed holed up in the hotel for weeks!The food was amazing! I really enjoyed my dinner at the hotel and the breakfast that was served to my room! Everything was fabulous and the location was perfect!

Ótimo hotel hotel para quem não aprecia literatura nem livros. Tem 65 mil livros mas não favorece a leitura. No dia em que chegamos havia um evento e fomos informados que o jantar seria servido no bar. Neste, assim como grande parte das dependências do hotel, as paredes são cobertas por livros. No meio de uma delas havia uma grande TV. Ligada e com som. Pedimos para desligar e ouvimos claramente o comentário do dono (ou administrador, não temos certeza): não, não, diga que vais tirar o som. E assim foi feito. Por 5 minutos. Após este tempo o dono/administrador sentou-se mudou o canal para um jogo de futebol e aumentou o som novamente. O detalhe é que só havíamos nós no salão. Fomos jantar em outro lugar. No dia seguinte o hotel foi novamente sede de um evento para o almoço. Tivemos a sensação, como na noite anterior, que não havia estrutura adequada para suportar a recepção e tratar adequadamente seus hóspedes. Normalmente não me importo com problemas que encontro em hotéis que frequento, mas falta de hospitalidade e respeito não fazem sentido para um hotel. O conceito "Literary Man" é bem artificial e inconsistente.

Es un poco difícil valorar este hotel, tiene un edificio clásico y bonito, está decorado con muebles demasiado rústicos, por lo que las habitaciones resultan bastante incómodas. El qué este repleto de libros por todas las paredes y rincones lo hace más acogedor. El desayuno está bien aúnque no tiene demasiada variedad.

The Literary Man ist ein sicherlich ein aussergewöhnliches Hotel. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen, der Service war aufmerksam und zuvorkommend, die Zimmer individuell und sauber. Man darf sicherlich nicht alle Annehmlichkeiten eimes modernen Neubaus erwarten, das sollte man vorher wissen. Am problematischsten ist die Parkplatzsituation; das Hotel hat keine eigenen Parkplätze; bei der Parkplatzsuche um das Hotel herum in den engen, alten Gassen muss man schon geduldig und couragiert sein. Obidos ist halt ein sehr, sehr altes Städtchen...

We heard the fuzz around this place long before arriving, and it is indeed an impressive building and concept of a place. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, nice live music in the background and great wine. The disappointment came with the food. The fish wasn't well cooked and served with tasteless couscous. The risotto, being the only vegetarian main dish, wasn't neither filling nor tasty. For the name of the place and money we paid, we expected a better experience.

Para um Hotel de 4 estrelas esperava uma higiene na casa de banho muito melhor. A casa de banho sem iluminação natural e pequena com um sistema de extração de ar muito sujo. O quarto casal pequeno. O revestimento de algumas paredes e bancada de casa de banho em madeira fica bonito mas não é o ideal para a higiene.

Absolutely loved our stay at Literary Man Hotel! What a stunning hotel, perfect for book lovers. We had the deluxe suite which was spacious, clean and supremely comfortable. Great service and very good buffet breakfast! Location is fantastic, just outside the city walls, so a short walk into the main town centre, while also close by to some great restaurants on the outside of the wall area. Highly recommend if you are stopping by Obidos!

Really amazing accommodation for books lovers! The town itself is amazing but if you are a book lover and want to enjoy a literary atmosphere, this is the place for you! The hotel is full of bookshelves everywhere, the breakfast is amazing and the place smells good as well! Slept there for my birthday, got a chocolate surprise (you can order it beforehand) that included the typical liquor to be drunk inside a small chocolate cup! If I'll ever go back to Obidos, I'll definitely book this accommodation again

An amazing place and concept, full of charm, with excellent service and excellent restaurant. A place to return. And, if just transiting I will definitely visit the restaurant again. The only thing is that accessibility for people with low mobility could be problematic as to access the reception area and also the rooms there are several levels of stairs. I did not realize this when I booked but can be an issue for guests in wheelchairs or people with reduced mobility (difficulty in going up and down stairs). The rooms (at least the one I stayed) are not spacious, for those who travel with several luggage could also be an issue.

Quando fiz a reserva no vosso site, selecionei o hotel em causa, selecionei o tipo de cama (casal) e fiz o pagamento.
quando fiz o check in, foi-me atribuido um quarto com 2 camas individuais (questionei na receção, onde me informaram que era o unico quarto disponivel).
O quarto em causa, ficou muito aquém das nossa espectativas. sugiro uma remodelação urgente do quarto.

A unique experience with friendly staff. Dinner was of a very good quality and reasonably priced when compared to restaurants in area. There is a need for some maintenance and the bath is very very slippery when taking a shower, but still worth a visit.

Buena atención por parte del personal y buen desayuno; el restaurante muy agradable y pintoresco aunque la comida mejorable.Lo peor el olor a humedad desde que entras en el hotel y sobre todo en la habitación, a pesar de hospedarnos en una suite superior la moqueta sucia y olor insoportable a humedad. No repetiría.

The hotel is very quaint, unique and well situated just outside castle wall in Óbidos. Easy walk to most things. We enjoyed our stay very much. Had dinner there which was excellent! We even got to watch the chef cook it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

We booked over e-mail and it was a good experience, especially since we had few special requests where we agreed conveniently. The hotel is located close to the city walls, also close to other restaurants. The room was very large and nice, with a view on the valley. It is nice to be among so many books. Breakfast was diversified and good. Overall, we are ok with the price we paid and what we got. We have 2 improvement points, first is about bathroom (there was a leak in tube at the wc, the hot water took long to come and was not so hot and the floor material). Second is about smells, as so many old books let out a heavy smell, needs more aeration, plus that during dinner at the ground floor the smell of food is very strong.

I have been looking forward to this for the last 10 months. I am an avid reader so this was a treat. The room was on the smaller side but it was fine. The property is cute, quaint and lovely. But you need to really know you are winding down. There is not a big staff for the bar etc. so if you’re thinking that you may be in the wrong city. I was 100% loving this getaway but after I just had my 90 minute hot stone massage I feel a little bait and switch. It was 50 minutes and it was not in the underground wine cellar as advertised as well as the ambiance was not was was showcased on their website. I was told I would be notified before my Service which room it would be located in. So instead of the wine cellar it was in the guest room 2 doors down from mine. No ambiance. No candles. No therapy room character. If that were the case I would have rather it been done in my room. The therapist was very nice and perhaps there was a breakdown from the front desk to the therapist as to what I wanted. To say I’m Disappointed makes me sad but I am. Had I known I would have skipped that part. Dinner is tonight and I’m looking forward to the restaurant. Go to the hotel. Enjoy the destination. Skip the add one

Limitou se a fornecer um papel com as informações e preços, extremamente grosso.

Pouco interesse em encontrar uma solução e explicação para o cliente, que no momento da reserva, confrontou a receção de que os preços na internete estavam mais baixos para os mesmos quartos, número de pessoas e datas.

The room is very small. For a hotel whose concept is books it should be better lit so people could actually read? Shower pressure is good. Breakfast is average. Il y a beaucoup de livres partout mais c'est vraiment de la déco. Il n'y a pas de vraie littérature (bcp de bouquins en double, triple, quadruple exemplaire, et presque exclusivement des romans de gare en anglais), pas de passion derrière tout ça. Pas même un petit salon de lecture, seulement 2 canapés au milieu de la salle de restaurant. Quant à la propreté, un peu approximative, poils et cheveux dans la salle de bains ...
En revanche, point positif, le personnel est adorable !

Not much. Room Small and musty. Noisy starting at 0800 and charged me 30 dollars to was 2 Shorts, 3 t shirts and 4 pairs of boxers. I wont be back.

Lieu atypique, authentique, original, très agréable accompagné d'un personnel chaleureux, convivial et sympathique.
Seul petit bémol, vraiment des moindres, le temps d'attente entre les plats, mais qui peut s'expliquer je pense par le nombre peu conséquent de personnes en cuisine (une seule quand j'y suis allée) ce qui n'entrave tout de même pas la qualité gustative et visuelle. Les prix quant à eux restent assez abordables.

Valoro el gran salón dónde estuve cenando junto a mi pareja. Un lugar abovedado, repleto de estanterías llenas de libros y música en directo. Tiene muchísimo encanto y lo recomiendo para una cena en pareja o familiar. Nos encantó el vino recomendado por el camarero así como los platos que compartimos. Tuvimos música en directo para amenizar la velada y darle ese toque mágico en tan entrañable lugar. Recomendable al 200%.

O hotel não é facilmente acessível, a entrada fica numa estrada íngreme e escorregadia quando o piso está molhado. Deve-se ter em conta que grande parte dos quartos são decorados com madeira não propriamente nova, e que muitos têm janelas pequenas.

Einmaliges Konzept. Motivierte, um nicht zu sagen passionierte Mitarbeiter. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist hervorragend, die Kuchen selbst gebacken, die Marmeladen hausgemacht. Auch das Abendessen war an jedem Abend super lecker. Die Preise hierfür vergleichbar mit Deutschland, aber die Qualität der Zutaten und die behutsame Zubereitungsart rechtfertigen dies.
Ich kann das Literary Man nur empfehlen!

Muito interessante o conceito e enquadra-se perfeitamente na localidade - Óbidos. Muito bem localizado em relação à vila. O staff sempre muito prestável e simpático, sempre atentos. Bom pequeno almoço e excelente opção para jantar, já que o hotel também tem restaurante aberto ao público. Os quartos são confortáveis qb. As casas de banho podiam ser um pouco melhores. Voltarei

Hotel agradável, em meio a uma biblioteca. Esse é seu grande diferencial. Vc fica rodeado de livros durante toda estadia, no restaurante, nos quartos na área de estar.
O quarto estava um pouco frio, mesmo com aquecedor, e a cama mostrava sinais de desgaste, com um colchão um tanto desconfortável. O estacionamento é na rua ou pago. Mas, há restaurante e café da manhã bom.

Fica em Óbidos, esta maravilha reabilitação é um antigo Convento " Estalagem do Convento " totalmente renovado de forma simples e elegante o cheiro o toque dos livros é incrível. Perfeito para uma escapadinha a dois. A decoração detalhes simples cheio de charme uma biblioteca viva. É o Bar de Gins, sem sombra de dúvida fenomenal.... Depois de experienciar fica no Topo da lista de sítios onde quero voltar. Recomendo

Fora de série. Incomum e muito bem decorado. Pitoresco sem luxo de ostentação. Tem uma biblioteca com mais de 65.000 livros que, infelizmente, não estão catalogados. Podem trocar ou comprar livros. Tem algumas raridades. É confortável e limpo. O atendimento é de elevado nível. A localização é soberba.

An ideal place for a book worm! Books in many languages line the shelves. Delicious breakfasts and superb service. Had to catch an early flight and our very substantial 'picnic' breakfast was ready for us the next morning to take with us. Thank you to all! Obrigado!

Cute but could be cleaner.
Bath has mold in the grout between tiles and on the string going to the emergency call switch. Shower has a half glass wall instead of a full enclosure. Good dinner and live music. Has a safe but it is small and my Surface Pro won't fit in it and it is key operated but you have to leave the keys to the room and safe in a basket near the front door when you go out. No elevator for taking bags to upper floor rooms. Wifi drops out a lot.

There are a lot of books – it’s only true about this place. It’s more a library – not the hotel. It’s listed as 4 stars - indeed, there is no any star – just wretchedness and cheat for 95 euro per day

We only went to the restaurant, which is at the back of the building. There is no menu card outside but don't hesitate into going inside. The 'book and cook' restaurant is a unique experience due to the numbers of books you're surrounded with. It's cosy, trendy and a recommendation if you stay in Obidos. The staff is friendly and the food was great too, maybe not the finest you can get, but well worth it for the price. Also, the gin-tonics here are amazing; lots of choice and beautifully prepared.

La chambre était très bien pour deux adultes et une ado. P'tit dej très diversifié avec des produits frais.
Seul bémol ça a été pour trouver l'hôtel, qui est dans une petite rue. Panneau indicateur vieillissant pas très visible.

Preço elevado para o serviço prestado e infraestruturas.
Buffet de pequeno-almoço levantado antes da hora prevista (11h), pois houve um lapso nas contagens. Serviram o p.a.depois a pedido.
As fotos fazem parecer o hotel melhor do que é.
Colchão desconfortável e quarto sem isolamento.
A welcome fruit era de grande qualidade, mas de uma forma geral não compensa.

This hotel was a little tricky to find because it didnt come up on our GPS. If you, like me, forget to bring the address because you assume it will be in the GPS, just search for the Hotel Real; they are attached. Parking was precarious but we managed. The hotel is really inviting and just gorgeous. Before you even walk in, there are tables and seats to read outside. The staff ( we met three of them) are really helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The guy who checked us in actually let us look at two rooms and pick the one we liked better. The sheer number of books in every nook and cranny was overwhelming and dreamy!Dinner was delicious - the vegetable sides were much better than the steak, so I recommend ordering a bunch of side dishes. Whatever wine they serve as the house red was excellent. Breakfast buffet was simple but excellent - croissants, cheeses, meats, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, coffee, tea, juice. All presented beautifully. The ONLY downside to staying in this great hotel was that our room was really cold and a little damp (February + tile floors + old building). There are heaters but the high ceilings and tile meant that it took a while to warm up in the room.

About the restaurant: food does not match the description on the menu. E.g. the Ratatouille or the Hamburger have been poorly prepared and are expensive. The wine however was excellent! Ambience was remarkable. Altogether because of the food only 3 of 5.

A Estalagem do Convento fica muito próxima da vila histórica de Óbidos e a curta distância a pé. Todo o edifício faz lembrar estar dentro de um castelo, com a sua apresentação e as próprias chaves utilizadas para os quartos. O serviço prestado foi muito bom e sentimo-nos em casa.

城壁の外ですが、バス停・レストラン・南門(？正門ではない)が近くて便利です。
朝食は贅沢ではないですがフルーツが色々食べれて良かったです。
バスルームにドライヤーがあります。
＜悪い点＞
WiFiはエントランス周辺とバーでしか使用できません。
ホテル内にバーはありますが、夕食が食べられるレストランは併設していません。
客室は狭くはありませんが広くもありません。
料金はもう少し安くても良いかな、と思います。

El hotel está junto a la muralla en un convento que nunca llegó a ser utilizado como tal. La idea de hacer un hotel con encanto resulta fallida y desde luego la calidad no corresponde a 4 estrellas.
La habitación era muy pequeña, el minibar hacía tanto ruido que había que desconectarlo para dormir, la televisión pequeña y con deficiente imagen, el cuarto de baño incómodo por su distribución, faltan colgadores en el cuarto de baño, no hay parking y el wifi sólo funciona en el bar y en recepción.
Positivo sólo la situación y la amabilidad del personal.
