What a sensational golf course.. Must play... Greens are only downside as almost unplayable when cut down and wind gets up but very playable for all levels otherwise... Some of the scenery is jaw dropping.. View from 18th tee box was worth it alone..

Försäsong på West Cliffs Golf Course med lite regn och blåst. Dressad greener och lite trögare fart. Toppbetyg däremot för layout, vyer och riktigt härliga hål. Hela golfanläggningen är toppklass och man märker att det är kvalitet och tanke bakom allt. Ett måste att spela om man är i Portugal. Hela banan är i en klass för sig själv. Kommer definitivt tillbaka bara för att spela West Cliffs.. Bör spelas när det är högsäsong och inte för varmt. Då når den sin sanna potential. För de som älskar vackra golfbanor..

Schöne Anlage insgesamt. Tolle Blicke über das Meer, aber definitiv ein anspruchsvoller Platz! Wer ein Handicap über 30 hat, hat es selbst von den vorderen Abschlägen schwer. Viele enge und hügelige Bahnen und sehr schwierige Grüns. Darüber hinaus ist der Platz sehr weitläufig und für Spieler die nicht so lautstark sind, eine echte Herausforderung. Aber Spieler die eine Herausforderung suchen, sind hier genau richtig. Und letztlich wird man mit toller Aussicht belohnt.

Das Marriott Hotel ist vom sehr hohem Standard. Das Buffetessen bestenfalls durchschnittlich. Das Personal und Service ist ausgesprochen freundlich und kompetent. Die Golfplätze: Von aller feinsten Güte, sowohl vom Design als auch von der Pflege!

Created over 200 hectares of natural landscape with bunkers blending into and dictated by rolling sand dunes and coastal vegetation it is entirely unforgiven of the errant shot that misses the fairway or green. Even if you find it, it's likely to be unplayable!

The clubhouse building is really nice with great views over the course to the sea. Staff are friendly and the food is very good (similar menus/wines in Praia d'el Rey Marriott and clubhouse). This is probably the nicest setting of them though.

Course is spectacular, but all the holes aren't on the same level. Loved the Redan on the front (5th) but some par 4s (3rd, 9th, 17th) are not the best in my opinion. Overall a good experience and a must play, especially for less than 60€.

Einer der coolsten Plätze die ich bisher gespielt habe. Schwer, aber der Score sollte hier nebensächlich sein. Jeden Flight sieht man hier mit den Handys fotografieren, was ich absolut verstehen kann. Es ist einfach nur ein atemberaubender Golfplatz. Wir hatten leider Regen und heftigen Wind, tat aber der Freude keinen Abbruch.

Stunning course. Doesn't feel like it's only 2 years old. Will be even better once it's matured. Back 9 more spectacular than front 9. Lovely clubhouse. Will definitely visit again.

Der Platz ist ziemlich neu und die Wege zwischen den einzelnen Löchern lang und in keinem guten Zustand. Rechts und links der Fairways braucht man nicht nach seinem Ball zu suchen denn da ist fast überall pure Wildniss. Die Grüns sind sehr stark onduliert und plateuartig. Kein Golfplatz für hohe Handicaps und ein Buggy ist fast ein muss. Vorher aber reservieren, denn es gibt nicht so viele.

I have played golf around the world but this is my first visit to Portugal to play. This was the 4th round in the week and without doubt the jewel in the crown and would recommend anyone to play this excellent most beautiful course. I think it is the most if not in the top 3 I have ever played, loved every hole, the views, the greens were great although tricky to read and some holes played literally on the beach. Stunning place you will not be disappointed with as long as you can hit a straight ball. 10/10

Fairways were over watered and the greens incredibly slow. Good layout though and some stunning holes. Very long carries of the back tees.

Really enjoyable course and in Great condition. The location is as good as it gets. A fair challenge and greens run true. A little bit pricy if you need to rent clubs and buy balls etc...8am, first to tee-off and I got around in 3.40hrs walking.
If you get the chance to play, take it.

I have no idea if the golf course is good, or not. The incompetence of their booking system stooped me playing. I rang and told them I was looking for a playing partner as I was on my own. They told me that they could fit me in at 10.50 with someone. I confirmed all , gave them my name and phone number. I arrived at 10.30 the next day (after a 30 Km journey) and went to the golf reception. I was told that the three ball i was joining had gone out early. I had seen a 3 ball outside and thought it might be the ones. I went outside. They were the 3 Ball. But the Club had not even been asked if I could join them and they were having a round with the pro. There was nobody else i could play with for 2 hours. I left. If you choose to play at this club cross your fingers that they have dealt with your booking properly.

Wat een geweldige golfbaan! Clubhuis ziet er modern uit en het uitzicht is geweldig... De holes zijn stuk voor stuk plaatjes om te spelen en zijn zeer uitdagend. Nadeel is dat de volgende teebox soms erg ver lopen is.

What a course, one of the best courses I have ever played, best course in Portugal in my opinion, the lay out, the greens, the views, the club house just outstanding.
The fairways here lies the story, you need to hit them or you will be in trouble there is no semi, no room for error most with a carry of 100 yards.
I am not going to spoil the surprises that awaits you on the greens of the par 3 holes only to comment best i have played
at the current price this course is a real bargain play it now before it hits the 100 euro plus bracket.
last comment take a buggy green to tee is a reasonable distance on some of the holes.
O and do not forget to take in the views you are not going to get many like this, enjoy we did

Played this week and thoroughly enjoyed the course. It's a real test of golf and you need to pick your tees. We played from the 55s and had plenty to think about. There are a number of forced carries so it's not a place for a beginner. Fairways are fairly wide but miss them and you'll end up in the scrub. Fairly easy to find your ball but the lie can be tough.
There are no boring holes and plenty of strategy. Doglegs left and right, elevation changes, partially blind shots and sideway lies. It's not a pure links but more a wonderfully designed course by the sea. Can't wait to come back.

Pour moi c’était la première fois et une expérience à renouveler. Peut-être quand même sur un parcours moins exigeant !!
Passionné de golf je suis venu au Portugal pour une semaine de golf, 5 parcours en 7 jours, un vrai marathon !
Et West Cliff à Obidos, fait parti de mes préférés.
Si les vues en bord de mer sont à vous couper le souffle, le parcours ne vous laisse pas indifférent malgré ses nombreuses difficultés. Sur certains départs, il faut être un peu long sinon, gare au chachi ! Il vous en couterait quelques balles.
Un vrai links parait-il, ce qui veut dire que l’architecte a respecté le sol et les dunes pour créer le parcours. Et bien oui, le parcours est assez vallonné, le sol rempli de sable pour un touché de balle un peu différent et ne cherchez pas de fairway plat, il n’y en a pas.
Ne cherchez pas les boules Jaunes ou blanches, il n’y en a pas. Elles sont remplacées par des chiffres 59 pour les blancs (5900m) et 56 pour les jaunes (5560m). Ne perdez pas de temps sur le parcours car il y a des contrôles régulier pour respecter le rythme.
Le 16 est mon préféré. Un PAR 3 impressionnant mais facile avec un départ, du chachi et un green étroit.
Quant au 18, il donne une vue superbe sur la lagune.
A faire si vous êtes passionnés de golf et … dans la région !

Absolutely the best course we played and once the vegetation has grown on front 9⃣ will be a delight. Great tough course take lots of balls 100 yards carries, don't miss fairways. Reminds me of Thracian cliffs. Probably the best course I have played in Portugal and once established will demand a price. Play it while you can.

Ja op dit moment klopt nog alles aan het geheel. Prachtige baan, mooi clubhuis, voorzieningen top.
Mooie toiletten door de baan (ook niet onbelangrijk), naast de baan gelegen grond voorzien van mooie begroeiing.
Uitzicht van de holes over de omgeving en zee fenomenaal.
Er wordt een begin gemaakt met het bouwen van villa's, het is alleen te hopen dat men niet fout maakt zoals op Bom Sucesso. Maar eigenlijk verwacht ik dat niet.
Als je in de gelegenheid bent, ga er spelen, het is het meer dan waard.

Tout a été dit sur West Cliffs, ou presque ... certes, l'endroit est spectaculaire, les installations rutilantes (superbe club-house, avec vue sur l'Ocean à 180° !), le parcours en excellent état, la flore environnante magnifique de couleurs et de contrastes, et le tracé un défi constant, mais le dernier tiers du parcours est décevant : à partir du trou n°13 (par 5 de 501 m. en montée), en effet, on joue sur un terrain vallonné à l'excès et le jeu y perd nettement de son intérêt. Par ailleurs, voici un détail auquel la Direction du Club peut sans doute remédier : en dehors des buggies et des golf boards, il serait bon de pouvoir disposer de chariots électriques, qui restent les meilleurs accessoires pour affronter ce type de parcours.
Mais au final, West Cliffs reste une très belle expérience golfique et votre journée ici vous laissera un certain sentiment de plénitude.

Un parcours absolument magnifique dont le tracé met constamment votre jeu à l'épreuve. Ce parcours est conçu pour accueillir de très grands tournois professionnels. Profitez-en tant qu'il ne faut pas encore être tiré au sort pour le jouer...

Der Platz ist Spitze, richtiger links course aber wirklich schwierig. Erinnert mich ein bisschen an den castle course. Schade ist einfach die sandlandschaft rundherum also nicht natürlich sondern künstliche wege aus sand künstliche sanddünen etc. Ansonsten wirklich top.

Dass dieser Golfplatz neu ist, lässt sich deutlich erkennen. Er ist prachtvoll angelegt und dürfte insbesondere die Herzen von ambitionierten, erfahrenen Spielern höher schlagen lassen. Insbesondere vom Männerabschlag lässt es sich schwer spielen, was jedoch gute Golfer auf angenehme Weise herausfordert. Direkt am Abschlag sind teilweise weit mehr als 100 Meter über starken Bewuchs zu spielen. Die Ausrichtung des Platzes geht mit den Bunkerlagen und enorm viel Wasser stark Richtung Tournament. Auch hieran wird deutlich, dass ein gutes Spielen erforderlich ist. Wer dieses beherrscht, hat viel Spass. Beachtenswert ist ausserdem das Clubhaus mit hervorragendem Restaurant, in dem ein exzellenter Service sich um das Wohl der Gäste kümmert.
Für uns war es ein Genuss – beim Golf aber auch im Clubhaus! Danke für den Tipp Cäsar Bolliger von Golf Dreams!

Just incredible. A masterpiece of design set in absolutely stunning scenery.
Here on a Saturday in December and despite being a bit cool it was perfect golf weather.
How there were only 3 other groups out on the course all day is beyond me. Come here!

Spectacularly good golf course. Fairways and greens were excellent. Views and layout exceptional. Possibly a bit difficult for high handicappers but for single-figures it's a complete treat (my brother-in-law and I are off 4 and 6). I've played at least 50 courses in several countries and West Cliffs is in my top two, perhaps no 1.

We came in from Boston and played this course today. It is outstanding for a course only open since June. Breathtaking views of the ocean and the course is tough but fair. Some people call it the Pebble Beach of Portugal which I've played. Very close but there is only one Pebble. If you are looking for a great golf trip go to Obidos and you can play multiple courses in the area and only a 6 hour direct flight from Boston. . We stayed at the Marriott on campus with its own course we are playing tomorrow and it's a great hotel too right on the ocean.

We had lunch and it was fantastic and I am a hard man to please. The staff were very friendly, the setting was amazing, the food was pretty close to perfect. I think you need to go to this place now as in 12 months I can see it being booked out all the time. Don't think the place is super formal as I went in shorts and trainers and the price for the food was about 14 euros a main,,great value should be double

We have been visiting Praia D'el Rei for many years. They are struggling with service in the many restaurants. Staff are spread thin across several outlets. They urgently need more, well trained staff. West Cliffs has a lovely Club House but service is shocking even in August. Hopefully things will improve.
