As good as the promise. Very tasty, fresh and original tapas. We had tomato salad, green salad, (not so hot) chicken wings, sateh. Small interior adding to the experience of exclusiveness. The place is a bit up the hill and separated from the centre. Seemingly the only reason to visit Monchique!

This cafe is small but perfectly formed. Coffee was good, ginger cake nice and rich. It made a good pit stop on a walk around the town. Not very traditional but good fun.

Great fresh made food, very nice hosts. Try the chocolate cake! Good beer too, 'craft draft' is highly recommendable.

Einfach nur super. Die kleine Kuchenauswahl selbst gemacht mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Der Kaffee erstklassig. Auch ausgefallene Kaffeearten dabei. Das Interieur klein aber fein mit Vintage-Stil. Das Betreiber-Paar super nett, hilfsbereit und kommunikativ. Das Cafe ist mit Abstand das beste, was ich in den letzten Jahren besucht habe.

Nos refugiamos de la lluvia que nos sorprendió en Monchique y quiso el azar de la vida que fuese aquí. El lugar pequeño pero encantador y muy acogedor principalmente por la atención de los dueños. Qué gusto viajar y encontrarte con esa gente que entiende la vida y el trabajo. Ojalá la vida nos permita volver.

Nous avons eu le plaisir de nous arrêter dans ce petit bar à tapas décoré avec gout. Les produits sont de très bonnes qualités et le service y est très chaleureux. Merci pour cette belle après midi que nous avons passé chez vous :-* Nous ne manquerons pas de revenir lors de nos prochains séjours en Algarve.

The Netherlands - After a long trip with scooters we were cold and hungry, but this café made us happy! Incredible friendly (good English speaking) staff and cute place. Also the food was fresh and very very tasty with a nice affordable price. Loved it!

Ein szper schönes und gemütliches Cafe. Das Essen war super lecker und der portugiesische Wein ebenfalls. Der Besitzer ist total sympathisch und har uns noch gute Tipps gegeben. Komme gerne wieder :)

This is a really nice cafe bar, restaurant. They have a selection of interesting coffees at very reasonable prices, including some exotic varieties. There is a selection of craft beers as well as traditional lager, as well as a good selection of red, white and rose wines.
The food is superb, tasty and very well presented. Great care is taken preparing the food. Also and very importantly, there is a good selection of vegetarian dishes. I would highly recommended a visit.

Excelente lugar para tomar uma refeição confortável com boa música ambiente. A comida é de muito saborosa com paladares da Serra. Magnífico cantinho para descontrair depois de uma caminhada sobre a Serra de Monchique. A decoração está com muito requinte, dentro do conceito de Vintage. Ainda podemos utilizar a viola para dar uns toques.
Vale a pena experimentar a cerveja artesanal, 5 estrelas. Os petiscos são confeccionados com muito glamour ( ervas aromáticas).
Parabéns pelo espaço.

This was by a wide margin the best lumch we had in Portugal. Order the green salad with avacado. Or have the burger with craft beer...I did both! One of the best salads ever. The owners were so accommodating. This is an experience! And only open for the last month! They will need a bigger space soon!

This place is really great! Best Chicken Satay tapas we ever had. Vintage all around super friendly people and a great relaxed atmosphere. When you visit Monchique a must go. And if you are looking for a real cappuccino or latte, this is the place

Ein sehr gemütliches und Detailreiches Café, mit super freundlichen Besitzern ( Die Frau ist gleichzeitig die Köchin). Die Köchin ist super flexibel und zaubert auf Nachfrage auch vegetarische Alternativen abseits der Karte.
Die Tapas sind mit viel Liebe gemacht und das schmeckt man, genauso wie das Dessert ( selbst-gemachter Schokokuchen) :)
Kann ich nur jedem empfehlen !

Lugar muy acogedor, el local, la música y los dueños hacen que sea un rincon muy agradable. Lo que tienen de comida es picoteo del rico, un placer los langostinos! La cocinera tiene muy buena mano. Sin duda para repetir

Visitei este pequeno local no início deste ano, sem ideia mas com uma decoração diferenciadora que me fez entrar.
Estavam 2 mesas ocupadas e foi fácil encontrar mesa, o dono (entendi depois que era o dono) é uma peça única nos dias actuais, aquela arrogância chauvinista de quem acredita ser o melhor do mundo, com a melhor oferta de sempre... pois bem, não é ruim mas longe de ser maravilhoso.
A pontuação dada é todinha para o dono, felicitações.
O meu erro foi não ter lido as respostas aos comentários que este senhor gosta de dar, quando a coisa não é 5 estrelas, é vê-lo a dissertar com várias diarreias cerebrais.

We had a lunch here after a hike to Foia, the chef and owner provided great service, even the dessert was amazing - red velvet chocolate cake with ginger glaze was just the thing to finish the meal!

Super gezellig en vriendelijk, mooie oldtimer voor de deur en old fashion ingericht! En natuurlijk was de koffie met gebak heerlijk. Goede kwaliteit en prijs verhouding!

Endroit très original tenu par un portugais vintage. Lieu superbement décoré .on y sert des assiettes de tapas super bonnes. Bravo . A decouvrir absolument en visitant monchique .

Have to agree, lovely place, lovely food, lovely owners! Just had an amazing meal there tonight. So fun to talk with owners and begin our amazing trip in the Algarve region. We sent an email seeking a table and they accommodated the five of us easily in their cozy restaurant. Hope to return again.

Zeer vriendelijke en warme ontvangst. Eerlijke en vooral heerlijke gerechtjes homemade door de vrouw des huizes. Lekkere wijnen en vergeet zeker de chocoladecake met gembertopping niet. Voor herhaling vatbaar!

After reading such great reviews we had to give this place a try - and we're so glad we did! Everything was super delicious! Lovely vegetarian options and the dessert was AMAZING! Definitely worth a visit if visiting Monchique!

A tiny, quaint little restaurant in the mountains of Monchique. With a total of 4 dining tables, it creates a cosy, welcoming environment, not unlike sitting at the owners own dinner table.
The owners are absolutely fantastic, very welcoming and accomodating. We asked for recommendations on their menu and we were not disappointed. We shall be returning, thankyou for a fantastic evening!

Best food we had on our two week trip in Portugal.
Nice ambiente, very friendly waiter and cook! The price is also very good for that type of quality you get. Not even comparable to all the standard portuguese restaurants around.
And on top you can get a really good coffee. That's also a "first" here in Portugal for us. :)

Trotz der hohen Preise sind die Tapas so winzig, wie Tapas halt mal sind. Dabei sind sie aber sehr gut. Unser Wechselgeld hat der Wirt uns nicht mehr zurückgegeben. Hier sind vor allem Gäste willkommen, die eine teure Flasche Wein bestellen und dazu sehr viele Tapas essen.

Es war einfach nur perfekt!! Wenn es noch mehr Sterne zu vergeben gäbe, würde ich es machen.
Dieses kleine süße Café/ Tapas Bar ist mit ganz viel Liebe eingerichtet. Es gibt lediglich 4 Tische & wir haben sogar extra einen Tisch reserviert, damit wir sicher einen Platz bekommen. In der Küche steht eine Frau, die das beste Essen zubereitet, das ich seit langem gegessen habe. Alle Produkte sind frisch und das merkt man auch. Die Fisch Tapas waren einfach nur genial. Man hat fast noch das Meer schmecke können. Alle Gerichte werden als eine perfekte Komposition nach und nach an den Tisch gebracht. Jeder Teller ist ein Erlebnis. Nichts ist hier 0-8-15.
Der Besitzer der Bar bedient jeden Tisch persönlich und sieht seinen Gästen schon an, was sie gerne hätten. Ein perfekter 2 Personen Betrieb mit gigantischen Tapas!!

L accueil est plutôt professionnel mais absolument rien d exceptionnel dans l assiette. Ça été notre expérience la plus onéreuse pour un déjeuner au Portugal (4€ pour 1 tomate (mais bonne)) et finalement n avoir pas été rassasié et sans etre de gros mangeurs. Pour déjeuner je ne conseille pas.

Adresse complètement improbable dans ce village hors du temps qu'est Monchique. Les tapas sont divins, les vins proposés à tomber - coups de coeur pour des vins de Lisbonne inconnus - Barco do Inferno et Checkmate, des Cabernet et Syrah de fou, l'assiette de fromage locaux pareil, un endroit à découvrir pour les amateurs de cuisine authentique et de coeur, comme les deux gestionnaires qui nous ont accueillis. Formidable moment passé chez eux.

Great place, we went there two evenings. First evening we arrived after the kitchen closed and they still offered to serve us food. The tenants are very nice, the tapas are tasty, simple and made with good products. The wine was excellent. Highly recommended !

This restaurant is as cosy, charming and as quaint as they get. A small space with limited seating, both indoor and outdoor, but if you can't get a seat right away, the food is absolutely worth waiting for! The atmosphere is just great, the owner makes sure you feel very welcome, and there is no way to escape the holiday feeling here.
We loved the cod fritters. They were exceptionally fluffy and light, but lacked nothing in taste. Highly recommended. The octopus was done very well, perfectly tender and tasty. The chorizo was flambéed at the table, to a perfect candied state with a crisp skin. We also enjoyed a green salad with avocado and figs, and a spicy chicken wing dish, which were both done very well!
We had 5 dishes between the two of us and our toddler. That was sufficient, but big eaters can rely on more options from the menu. With a Coke, two beers and a sparking water our bill totalled less than €45, well worth it.
Highly recommended!

A simple coffee shop.
Some wine offers and craft beers but nothing special... We didn't understand the food menu, we ate some "specialties" but nothing special again. The owner thinks "he knows best", his arrogant attitude doesn't help at all...
It's not a restaurant, they serve "food" a.k.a. snacks/poor snacks.

Best food we had in Portugal yet, and the best red house wine :-) so much love here in this little paradise.
Service was perfect - even the cook came out to speak with the guest and see if everything was alright. Thank you for the nice afternoon!

Não sei se a comida é boa lá, pois não chegamos e experimentar. Não fomos atendidos, embora houvesse uma mesa completamente livre, porque só se atende "por reserva". Deixaram uma grávida a morrer de fome. Pessíma experiência.
