Im September 2019 hat das Hostel gerade frisch eröffnet gehabt und deswegen waren auch noch nicht viele Gäste da. Vor allem wegen der Gastfreundschaft und generell der offenen und herzlichen Art von Pedro war mein Aufenthalt im Douro Backpackers sensationell! Das Hostel war sehr einladend, insbesondere auf der tollen Dachterasse haben wir viel Zeit verbracht und gequatscht. Hier blieb die Zeit irgendwie stehen. Ich hatte das Gefühl, Pedro hat uns alle eingeladen und schmeißt ne Grillparty mit leckerem Wein. :) Mir persönlich fehlte es an nichts, es gab ein kleines Frühstück, Zimmer und Bad waren super und es gab sogar einen Waschtrockner. Es war so cool dort, dass ich gleich zwei Nächte statt einer blieb! Ich war auf dem Trip bestimmt in zehn Hostels und das war eins von zweien, die ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen kann! Nuevo, limpio, tranquilo, comfortable y perfectamente equipado. La azotea es espectacular, y Pedro (el dueño) es majisimo. Top!

The hostel is amazing. Super clean and neat. And Pedro is the most friendly hostel owner I have met. He shared his breakfast and lunch with us. Gave us beers and his own port wine. Me and my friend advise everyone visiting pinhao to come here!

Pedro har en spændende livshistorie at fortælle . Han er en opmærksom og indlevende vært. Hostelet har han købt som ruin . Renovering har han selv ledet . . Tagterrasse og taghaven er hyggelig og har udsigt til en historisk velbevaret vinterrase bjergside .

I could not have asked for better for my first stay at a hostel in a very, very long time. Pedro is an extremely gracious, hospitable owner and also the only "employee" - thus very hands-on with every detail of his operation. The amount of work it takes to keep a place running and spotlessly clean as he does did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. It's a LOT! I think he really likes being overworked though :) The space is extremely well done - to me it felt more like a guest house than a hostel. The rooms are cozy, brand new, clean, and the details have been well thought through. The rooftop patio is gorgeous and it was lovely to share an evening up there over port and custard tart with Pedro and other guests. The only minor suggestion I have is for a mirror in the bedroom - to help reduce time spent in the shared bathroom! But everything else was just right. Thank you for opening your space to us!

New hostel! Its very neat and perfectly clean and maintained. The owner is a civil engineer so it all runs perfectly. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Pedro, the owner, is super kind and welcoming! We had a great experience staying in the hostel and chatting with him, who is also a backpacker so you will always find anything a backpacker might need. Lots of nice surprises like a random ukulele. The hostel has a lovely roof and patio with excellent views of the valley, really fun to sit there and relax. Highly recommended accommodation!

Pedro has been really welcoming, can give a lot of good advice. The place is nice and clean, and the rooftop is perfect to chill, and especially to get your coffee in the morning (cool view). Good job Pedro!

Emplacement idéal proche de la gare. Pedro, le gérant, est sympathique, chaleureux, accueillant et de très bon conseil sur les randonnées. Il est aux petits soins et a su répondre à toutes nos questions. Quant au bâtiment, il est tout neuf, très propre et très bien équipé (Pedro est un ancien backpacker et a donc pensé à tout). Le plus : un roof top magique avec vue sur les vignes

Excellent - spotlessly clean, great facilities and exceptional host. Hostel Douro Backpackers is recently opened and an excellent place for our overnight in Pinhau. The space is excellent - modern fittings, spotlessly clean and great facilities. Pedro was an exceptional host - open, welcoming, informed and a genuine global citizen. Not part of the plan before we arrived - but we had a very enjoyable evening joining the other guests and Pedro (despite injury!) for a traditional Portuguese meal in a favoured local restaurant - absolutely noone left hungry!

Warm welcome and great hospitality throughout our stay. The Hostel is a sympathetically renovated traditional townhouse close to the centre of Pinhaõ. It’s spotlessly clean and well run by owner manager Pedro, himself an experienced world traveller who knows what visitors want and who works hard to make sure they get what they need. There are lovely design features throughout the building, original wooden stairs, beautiful local stone walls and a great roof garden and patio. And because Pedro is a Civil Engineer by profession, everything works. We had a wonderful three days in what we felt was the best value stay in the valley.
