Antonio provided great service, very friendly, knowledgeable about the area. The Douro boat ride was well worth the two hours spent. I wish we would have had time for one of the vineyard treks. He is very environmentally conscious as well and really aims to please!

My walk with Antonio was the highlight of my trip. The month of May sees the Douro in bright green rows of vines. Breathtaking views, good conversation and a pleasant and abundant brunch made my day so memorable. The peace and quiet at the picnic spot next to the river is so tranquil and serene. I will definitely do it again.

An absolute must
We traveled to Portugal for our 10th wedding anniversary and Douro Walks was one of the highlights of our trip. It’s an absolute must if you visit the Douro Valley. We couldn’t decide which tour to book, so we contacted Antonio & Silvia and they customized a day for us. It was spectacular and we left feeling like we have family in Ervedosa do Douro.
Antonio drove us to Ervedosa and along the way, highlighted points of interest and shared information about the region with us. We walked from the village along trails and roads to the family vineyard where we met Silvia, her brother and father. We picked figs, vegetable from the family plot and walked through another part of the vineyard learning about grape growing, the harvest and family history.
We harvested almonds with the family - so fun!
We met Silvia and Antonio’s three children and Silvia’s mum who prepared and unbelievable lunch... they called it a picnic but it’s was a family Sunday dinner, in an old vines vineyard under an apricot tree. We feasted on homemade bread & baking, grilled pork and fresh vegetables... all paired with Mr. Sebastian’s homemade wine and port. This family meal remains our favorite experience from our trip to Portugal.
After the “picnic” Silvia & Antonio drove us through other villages to viewpoints and taught us more about the region. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at their home and again were invited inside by Silvia’s mom for more food and time with the family. We were then given grapes, vegetables, almonds & bottle of port to take home!
If you are looking for an authentic experience... look no further. We can’t thank Silvia and Antonio enough for an amazing day. Their generosity & hospitality made us feel like a part of their family and we look forward to visiting them again.

Our day spent with Antiono and Silvia of Douro Walks was truly special. We started the day with a 2.5 hour hike, with spectacular views of the Douro and Tâvora Valleys. The vantage points were amazing and learned a lot from Antonio about the history and methods of growing grapes in the region.
We were then treated by Silivia to a locally sourced/produced picnic in a private Vineyard, complete with wine and port made by her Father. The views were amazing and conversation even better.
This was followed by a tour of a locally owned Qunita, led by the winemaker/owner himself. We had tastings of some magnificent Ports straight from the barrels.
We capped off the day with a 1 hour boat ride on the Duoro river at the peak of Golden Hour, offering a completely different vantage point on the region.
Antiono and Silivia are amazing people and we truly enjoyed getting to know them and learning about the Valley through their connection to this very special palce. We were sad to have to say goodbye at the end of the day.
Ultimately this is a private tour, and they will tailor the experience to meet your preferences. But whatever you do, don’t miss the opportunity to meet these amazing people and let them lead you on a magical day through the Douro Valley away from all of the tourists.

We had an exceptional time with Antonio and Silvia during our stay in Provesende. Their hospitality went above and beyond anything we have experienced in out travels so forgive me for this long review.
We found out about them via AirBnB experiences and searching for guided walks in the Douro valley. Antonio was very helpful whilst we were considering him and in the end we agreed on us doing the walk from Provesende to Pinhao ourselves with his directions and then meeting Antonio and Silvia for the walk along the Torto valley which is adjacent to the Douro and slightly less touristy. This would turn out to be a great decision.
As you would expect the scenary is amazing and the peace from a less well travelled valley is serene. What stands out for us is the conversation as we walked, as an ex philosophy teacher we had an amazing conversation with Antonio about walking, philosophy, the region, politics, our travels and plenty of time on the local viniculture, how to raise vines, what other fruits are farmed and a real insight into how a family tends their own plots in the valley. It was at this point we found out we would be stopping to eat our picnic in the family's own small vineyard :-) Silvia's family have been resident in the valley for generations and this provided an amazing insight for us. When we arrived at the vineyard we were greeted by three generations of the family and then privileged to enjoy the home cooked delights of Miss Augusta topped off by the homemade wine and port of Mr Sebastian, Silvia's parents. It was a brilliant meal in a stunning setting and being allowed to spend it with the family was touching. We will never forget it.
How we managed to walk back up the hill is slightly beyond me, but we did.
Douro Walks have only been up and running since March and we were their first English guests. We strongly recommend this tour as it won't be long before it is really hard to find a slot in their diary.
