Alves de Sousa was a great winery to visit. Great blend of new technology and old school winemaking. Owners both met us and spent time with us. Just a great experience spending time with a 5th generation wine making family. This too was a highlight of our visit to Portugal. My wife loves wine and it was so special to taste and see and talk to the people who make the wine, who make the decisions on how to blend what grapes and when. A once in a lifetime opportunity and so special to have a private tasting arranged. My interest was in the science end of making wine and what an impressive purpose built facility for making wine and giving tours to welcome us and others. So well thought out. And great to see the original building where the 4th generation still lives right next to the modern facility that is only a few years old. Again, highlight of our vacation and one we will recommend to anyone wanting to visit the Duoro Valley.
