Words cannot describe the experience Mario offered us today. We called him after a brief Google search to see if he offered wine tasting. He offers one red wine so tasting is limited so instead he offered us a boat ride. We arrived at his Quinta and he drive us down to where his speed boat is moored. My lord... it was 24 degrees, he brought a couple of beers and we diced off his boat in the douro river for an hour. We then went back to his Quinta for a prepared lunch of local Portuguese sausage and home grown potatoes. After lunch he showed us step by step how the wine is made on site whilst sipping away at one of his 2008 savoured red wines. Everything from the quality to the hospitality to the friendliness, I cannot describe how much I would recommend you visit Mario's Quinta. We will certainly be back and will stay at his property to share a dinner with him which we can find out even more interesting facts about the region and wine growing. Mario and Catarina are always happy to meet new people and making new friends. The rooms are comfortable and the nature is gorgeous! You can swim in the river, eat great food and drink amazing wine here. The perfect place to relax and enjoy the good things that life can offer, definitely recommended for anyone who likes to be happy!
