La carne estaba bien guisada, pero pedimos secreto y nos endiñaron panceta por lo que tuvimos que reclamar. El pescado estaba demasiado hecho y reseco. Lo mejor, la atención, de hecho llegó la hora de cerrar el local y el camarero se quedó con nosotros sin meternos ninguna prisa para que terminásemos de comer sin problema. Hace años que estuvimos allí y teníamos muy buen recuerdo, pero esta vez nos decepcionó mucho.

Lo único bueno que tiene el establecimiento es el encanto, la cerveza (que estaba muy fría) y la atención, por lo demás pedimos chipirones que estaban muy salados casi incomibles y brocheta de gambas que estaban sosos y además precocidos.... Una decepción la comida, además el plato que te ponen de aperitivo te lo cobran en la cuenta final. Precio algo elevado para no ser zona turística.

We asked for Iberian secret, (a special, delicious, cut of Iberian pig) and ribs. Both were like old shoe soles. Very thin and very tough.
I don't know about the fish, so no comment.

This restaurant specialized on its main dish and you notice that instantly. The fish or meat is outstandingly good, especially for the price. The side dishes are a bit lame in contrast.
The restaurant itself is lovely and gives you an old timey feel. The wooden benches could be more comfortable though.
Another weird thing was; you get bread before the main dish on your table. So far so normal. But at the end we had to pay extra for it which was pretty weird because it was already on the table and we thought it‘s including with the dish.
All in all the extraordinary fish overweighted the downsides and we were still happy.

Muito comida, boas zona de estacionamento, bom para crianças, simpaticos, precos acessíveis, wifi, com espaço, as sobremesas sao óptimas, o atendimento é bom. Recomendo este espaço, onde ja fui várias vezes em trabalho de fim de semana ou férias.

Das Brot war ok. Das war's dann aber auch schon! Die Bedienung war verwirrt und lahm! Ein älterer Herr führt hier den Service. Er sollte es besser lassen. Das Restaurant macht auf "alt und gemütlich" und wirkt mit den Plastik- und Papiertischdecken und Plastikblumen (Plastik Christstern Ende Februar!) nur billig. Dazu passt, dass Weißwein an allen Tischen nur im Sektglas serviert wird.
Was sollte ich noch erwähnen? Die Holzbänke ohne Kissen und Rückenlehne? Die kaum vorhandene Weinauswahl? Die drei laufenden TV mit unterschiedlichen Programmen? Die Kellner, die bei der Speisenproduktion "mithelfen" (mit allen Fingern)? Das ständig kauende Thekenpersonal?
Das Essen erwähnen wir bewusst nicht! Wir wollen niemand den Appetit verderben! Nur soviel: essen sollte man besser woanders!

Es war im großen und ganzen ok das Service Personal war sehr freundlich.
Vor der Bestellung wurde ein kleiner Teller mit Krappen und Brot gereicht das Essen selber wurde frisch zubereitet da wartet man gerne etwas länger,der Hauswein und der Nachtisch waren auch lecker komme bestimmt mal wieder!

Good place to sample local cuisine at reasonable prices..a fair selection of freshly prepared meals meat and fish alike..the waiters were overbearing with the hard sell of the dishes (most lkely the ones that they needed to get rid of ) and which they considered to be worth ordering..the restaurant caters for groups so be prepared to wait for the table and share it with some of the group's diners..

Péssima qualidade no que foi apresentado como uma refeição típica da região! Além de frio e frito em oleo
reutilizado encontrava se completamente insalubre! O antedimento não compensou pois qualquer sugestão ou reclamação era completamente ignorada. O vinho ácido e a garrafa de azeite de 1,5l engordurada colocada na mesa para temperar a mísera salada, contribuen para a não justificação do elevado valor cobrado por esta refeição..Deviam de ter vergonha! Para além do cliente é uma falta de respeito para com todos que se esforçam para garantir a qualidade da gastronomia regional!

Llegamos tarde a comer (para ser Portugal) y nos atendieron bien. Buena comida a un precio razonable. Es cierto que te ponen un aperitivo sin pedirlo (muy bueno, por cierto), pero te preguntan si lo quieres cuando te lo llevan a la mesa. Los camareros súper antentos y la decoración muy cuidada. El baño es bastante bonito.

La comida muy, pero que muy buena. Nos trajeron un entrante como de judías que estaba brutal. Luego nosotros pedimos una copa de vino tinto y otro blanco. Con queso de entrante. De comida arroz con pulpo y bacalao al no sé qué, más dos postres por unos 35€ en total, aproximadamente. La atención del camarero estupenda. El lugar acogedor.
De los platos... Para mí gusto, el pan que te sirven al principio estaba como pasado y el bacalao muy bueno, pero no me entusiasmó tanto. No obstante, lo recomiendo desde luego. Repetiré.

Bem não posso aconselhar, já foi melhor agora deve se dedicar aos grupos e deixar de servir a individuais, uma picanha miserável sem sabor mais um entrecosto só osso e desaconselho vivamente a sangria (possivelmente diretamente do pacote) mais uma sobremesa e medronho mais de 40€ uma vergonha na tasca da esquina comia bem melhor por metade do preço... das piores refeições que tive nos últimos tempos...

Déçue, étions 2 personnes,avons demandés 2 menus à 15 euros...cuisine correcte , le personnel parle français.mais pas sympas, avons payés une note de 58 euros car n'avons pas compris les plats..pour terminer on a refusé notre carte bancaire sans aucune explication et on a dû payer en espèces. La note ne nous a pas été donné. Je ne le recommande pas

Ein sehr schönes, rustikales Restaurant. Der gegrillte Lachs hat geschmolzen im Mund, so lecker war es. Auch die Garnelen im Knoblauchsoße sind absolut empfehlenswert. Man bekommt direkt was kleines aufs Haus. Sehr zufrieden!

Dall'esterno sembra un ristorantino molto bello e casareccio ma quando ci siamo seduti i 2 camerieri anziani mettono molto a disagio il cliente in quanto poco cordiali. Poi ci sono piatti che costano sui 45€ (esempio la cataplana) e non da la possibilità di pagare con multibanco ma solo in cash. É vero che siamo a Faro, ma nel 2019 non é possibile non avere un bancomat. Io ho preso il tonno all'algarve ed era secco mentre la mia compagna una lulas grelhado ed era piccola e bruciata. Per non parlare della signora al mio fianco che ha preso anche lei lo stesso piatto e l'ha trovata ancora surgelata. L'unica persona che si salva e la ragazza che faceva la cameriera in quanto simpatica e gentile.

Great atmosphere, great food and open on sunday which no other restaurants are. None of the staff speaks English so it was difficult to order as we couldnt read any recommended menu, but more or less we trusted.the waiter's recommendations and all were super delicious!!!! House wine bottle was only 10 euros.
Would go there again!!! But need to learn more portuguese!!

At noon/first we just asked/wanted to use their toilet, that was possible!! Good first impression!
So later in the evening we went back to this beautiful warm restaurant, because of the good first impression
They even help you sit down, that was so unique!
Normally I eat shrimps with my bare hands/fingers, but I wanted to try with the knife/fork: the friendly waiter even helped me with that HAHA Very good service and nice chat we also got. The cataplana was VERY good I would come back!

Recommandé par le Petit Futé mais à éviter. Pour un amuse gueule (payant) choisi on vous en apporte 3. Sentiments qu'on nous force la main. Par contre pour nous expliquer les plats du jour uniquement en portugais c'était déjà plus compliqué... Suggestion du plat le plus cher (la sole). Puis nous décidons de prendre les ameijoas (indiqués à 1,50€ mais finalement c'était une erreur le serveur nous dit que c'est à 15€) soit très cher pour une quantité qui s'avère misérable. Bref passez votre chemin.

Not impressive but a good local place to taste some seafood
We had our dinner with them on 29th October, 2019 after a long beautiful journey from Lisbon to Faro with courtesy visit to the Ocean at the Salema beach (that day the Atlantic was so beautifully patient and so transparent that it was impossible to resist swimming there even when the water temperature was just 18 degrees Centigrade).
I do not follow any "experts'" recommendation or advice to visit some local eateries and instead of that prefer to ask the very local persons or those already visited the country for what and where.
It was not a choice by us but the circumstances determined that since two other places preliminary advised for our selection (Centenario & 2 Irmaos) disappeared from our list due to a noisy company in one of them and a very strange odour in front of the other :).
Just left only Adega Nova or simply to visit some cafe :).
From the very entrance you feel not very comfortable - likewise you are to enter some McDonalds since the waiters are almost ready to attack you offering their personal serving lots - not a pleasant feeling, indeed.
Initially we thought to stay at the upper floor but the air there was so close, hot not ventilated that we immediately returned back to the ground floor.
There were only three pairs of people but it's even difficult to imagine what is going on with their ventilation when the restaurant is filled up to the top - this issue of technical maintenance certainly requires some attention.
We were served by some man in years and this service was rather nervous and with just one clearly readable readiness - tips...
Yes, we met the same awful situation described be many visitors with imposed dishes at your own expense but since we are acquainted with such not best samples of Latin American service we simply asked from the very beginning to keep these tuna salads (especially waiting for us for hours :) at their backstage.
Definitely it's a serious problem of their operations management but who knows whether the owners hear about that...
We ordered some tuna, shrimps with garlic sauce and white wine (in-house Alentejano).
Everything was prepared without huge delays but no one offered us to select food from that fish present there at some glass case.
All dishes are well cooked and prepared but to tell something of their deliciousness would be an overestimation.
Starting with the very shrimps and garlic - as you know you could find the same dish in all seaside countries and thus, you are able to compare them through times and borders.
If, for example, in Panama or even in the Dominican Republic shrimps and a garlic sauce conform some kind of unity which lives unanimously within your taste and perception, here I just felt shrimps and good separate oil with garlic...
The tuna was absolutely neutral... at all.
Therefore, it could be some irrational exuberance if you expect some wow-effect from the very cuisine at that place.
Additional operational failures followed - there are not any additional simple napkins on the table or simple clean glasses - both of them you are to ask continuously from the staff and to remind your requests.
Their pricing policies are almost the same (within all these three restaurants mentioned) and could be considered as middle ones.
But the most significant failure and clear sign of bad operations management is the desire to economise by eliminating acquiring costs and by that depriving customers of any opportunity to pay by cards; but at the same time and obviously, just by occasion and a coincidence you are offered to use an ATM just one meter from the entrance...
Thus, a little bit tired by such a strange service in a so "popular" place we simply decided to have our coffee and deserts at some cafe close to our hotel and not here.

Saw this restaurant while passing by and it seemed to have good reviews so we decided to have our dinner there. Service was nice at the beginning and as soon as we took a seat we received the menu. In less than a minute after we got a small basket of bread and tuna (canned) bean salad. Food menu is translated into 4 different languages and is a bit hard to read through but we decided to go for a big skewer with shrimps, fish and vegetables. In the drinks menu there are 3 different sangrias so we asked the waiter what are the differences between them. One of them he said is with champagne and we ordered that one. From that moment on came one disappointment after another. Potential champagne sangria came out to be made of martini which I don't like and I would have not go for it if I knew it's gonna be made with it. French fries were served cold and the skewer, even though looking impressive, was definitely not made from a fresh seafood. We left half of the food but nobody bothered to ask if everything was ok if we left that much food untouched. The biggest surprise was still about to come. Once receiving the bill, we realized that:
1. We got charged 5euro for the salad and bread that came at the beginning and we assumed that it's a complimentary starter as we haven't ordered it and the portion was so small.
2. We got charged for the French fries and a salad, even though while ordering we were told that it's included in the meal with the skewer.
After kindly asking the waiter what were all the positions on the bill (because it was in Portuguese), he got annoyed and removed only french fries from our bill. We decided to not discuss this anymore and just pay for it. Once seeing the credit card, the waiter just said "no card!" And walked away.
Our evening got spoiled by mistakes that could have been easily avoided. Will definitely not come back.

Um local que dá jus ao nome. Com uma decoração dentro do contexto do mesmo. Os pratos escolhidos estavam bem servidos, com bom aspecto e principalmente muito saborosos. Os preços são um pouco acima da média mas atendendo à qualidade não são caros. O atendimento foi cordeal. Aconselho a visitarem nem que seja só uma vez.

É um local agradável, a decoração embora antiquada não era feia precisa de obras. O atendimento é simpático, a comida não é má. As ameijoas como entrada pra três pessoas era só uma amostra, mas de qualidade, comemos arroz de ligueirao, nada de especial.

Today was the third time I ate here. All three times were excellent experiences. Staff very friendly. Your food order comes quickly. I love red wine....I enjoyed the house wine. They also have good selections of wines. The food is really tasty and well prepared. I love vegetables....the vegetables that I requested today with my algarvia steak was perfectly cooked to my liking...not too hard, not too soft. The previous two times I had fish...it was very good. I am not a dessert person. They have a nice selection of desserts. The ones I have tried were very fresh and tasty.

Wir hatten uns vom Dumont Reiseführer leiten lassen.
Aus heutiger Sicht handelt es sich anscheinend um eine gekaufte Werbung im Reiseführer.
Das Restaurant macht auf urig und gemütlich, ist es aber nicht. Es läuft ab wie am Fließband. Das servierte Essen ist okay, aber das macht noch kein Restaurant aus.
Mein Tipp: Sucht nach einem Restaurant, welches von Einheimischen besucht wird. Da seid ihr richtig, müsst nicht auf Bierbänken sitzen und dabei eine Quiz Sendung im Fernseher anschauen.

Eramos só duas pessoas que queriam jantar, não foi fácil.... pedi caldo verde e não deu para comer era só água, bacalhau sem sabor e de baixa qualidade , pedimos costeleta de novilho e passado 15 minutos informaram que já não havia tivemos que optar por outro prato ou seja um autentico desastre , a não repetir .

Avoid, I would not recommend this restaurant. I ordered a meat dish and they brought me something completely different. When it came to desserts, it took four attempts to actually order something they had available. The restaurant is filled with fruit flies and you have to pester them to receive change once you pay the bill. Horrible experience!!!

Imagino que seja um bom e tradicional restaurante, mas nem cheguei a ter a oportunidade de provar a comida. Apesar de ter conseguido uma mesa, ter sido atendido e realizado o pedido, meu almoço jamais chegou por descuido do empregado de mesa - que, ao invés de nos relatar seu erro, passou a culpa para os outros. Se for ao local, sugiro confirmar na grelha se o pedido foi repassado. Para piorar, a única coisa que provei, a Coca Cola, estava com pouco gás.

Não havia robalo... O empregado disse que hoje não havia. Portanto estava anunciado como peixe do dia... Um dos empregados tentou uma venda forçada. Na carta do restaurante diz 1/2 dose ou 1 dose de salmão grelhado e havia salmão na bancanda e ao pedir 1/2 dose o empregado diz que não tem peixe para 1/2 dose isso foi só para eu levar 1 dose. Em vez de 7,5€ a 1/2 eram 12,50€ a dose... Recusei e disse que ia-me embora, ele enervou-se e todo bruto pegou numa posta e mandou a cortar ao meio.... Foi mal cortada e fui mal atendida. Os empregados são todos nervosos. É uma pena porque estraga o ambiente...

As always with reviews they can be spot on or a million miles from the truth! We nearly didn't go because of some of the 1 star slatings we had read and that would have been a real missed opportunity... The food and service was excellent, I was let down by my poor Portuguese but the friendly staff helped with my questions. In the end I had the Monk fish and shrimp kebab and it was superb!!! Don't miss out on a truly authentic experience :-)

I happened in there with two friends of mine last summer while I was in Faro, we were lost and didn't know where to sleep. The staff was astoundingly kind and tried to help us even though their English wasn't the best. We got dinner there and aside from the fact that everything was delicious, it was also incredibly cheap. The place is cozy and has a genuine vibe about it, I definitely recommend.

Well not the best place to visit. Food is definitely eatable but worst I ever tried in Portugal. Waiters don’t speak english and in general for that price isn’t worth. Please avoid if you can. There are other really good places 300-400 meters away.

Schönes portugiesisches Restaurant im alten Stil wie eine Scheune... sehr urig mit zahlreichen Dekorationen. Zu Beginn bekommt man einen leckeren Salat mit Thunfisch und Bohnen... die Karte ist sehr umfangreich. Selbst auf Deutsch stehen die Gerichte dran.

We ordered 2 "bife a algarvia", 16.5€ per piece and for this price we expected good meat. First, the waiter didn't ask for the way we want the steack to be cooked. Then, we got a fatty and full of nerves piece of steak, with a simple onion sauce and few potatoes. It was worth at least 9€. Wine was ok, service weird, and starter really expensive.
We followed an advice from a guide... What a mistake. So many better place in Faro!

This is probably one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The waiter assigned to our table was pushy to the point it made us want to leave. Our food was extremely burnt, some of it being like charcoal. We were given 2 plates of sardines and when we told them we ordered mackerel they told us we had been given it, though both dishes tasted and looked the exact same. To put as a note, I have done plenty of mackerel fishing so know exactly what they look and taste like.

Me and my wife have just eaten here tonight. Unbelievably good food so fresh and plentiful. Found a brilliant restaurant, the atmosphere is really relaxed and your not hurried into finishing your meal. The staff are fantastic and so attentive, they recommend dishes to you but the menu is varied and you have a lot of choices to satisfy your appetite. We will be going back while we're here. Pity we didn't find it earlier on our holiday.

We did a large group dinner here. Service was good but the food was just average. Our friend was a vegetarian and they really didn't have too many options for her (actually, just one veggie burger, which didn't look too great when it came out). Maravilloso restaurante de pescados. Íbamos en familia y queríamos comer pescados portugueses, y acertamos de lleno. Pedimos gambas a la plancha de entrante (muy buenas) y de segundos rape con arroz, sardinas, emperador y arroz con mejillones y gamas. Todo estaba perfecto. Los camareros atentos y muy amables. Dispone de menús infantiles. Nada turístico, se ve a mucha gente de Faro comiendo allí. El precio bien. Muy recomendable.

Good food and nice ambience. I would recommand to order from the daily menu. This is written in portuguese but is somehow understandable and a surprise. The Swordfish is awesome. The baguette and toast which they give you in the beginning, you need to pay for this. So beware.

Quintessential Portuguese fare. A bit of an institution from what I saw. Get the vinho verde do casa - now that's how wine should be, and at €3 per carafe!
