Très bon petit restaurant ! Soyez patient (avec un verre de vin en attendant) c'est souvent bon signe et cela en vaut la peine, les tapas et les vins sont abordables et de très bonnes qualités (thon, chorizo, légumes...). De plus le patron est tres sympathique et est de bon conseil sur les choix des vins.

Tolles Essen in nettem Ambiente. Der Chef ist unglaublich nett (und spricht sehr gut deutsch), die Weinberatung ist super und der Nachtisch ein Traum. Die Tapas sind sehr zu empfehlen!

Serviço de uma delicadeza e simpatia únicas. Bons conhecedores de vinhos. Petiscos deliciosamente confeccionados. Música ambiente magnífica. Preço por pessoa, em média entre 20 e 30€, se optar por um bom vinho. Imperdível.

C'est la deuxième fois que je viens déguster les délicieux Tapas de Joao et ils sont toujours très bons ! La Tasca do Joao est en petit endroit dans lequel on se sent bien, nous sommes bien accueilli, Joao est aux petits soins. Il y a une belle variété de tapas et les quantités servies sont largement suffisantes. Les desserts maison sont extra ! Je recommande le gâteau chocolat fruits secs. la décoration ancienne est très belle. J'y retournerai lors de mon prochain séjour.

Best place in Faro, deserves to visit only to meet João and his son Duard, family bussness with the true local flavors of the Algarve, I don't usually put reviews but they deserve to be recognized for their dedication to work and the passion of their land, hospitality in my opinion is the essence of it, all combined with the selection of local products blended with the best customer service, just go there and you will find a family with passion and dedication towards the client, it makes you feel at home as you have been there for a long time, it’s a must!!! You will not regret!! By the way I will plan my next visit to Faro just for this place.

Amazing tuna ! We had a meal for 2 and shared 4 hot tapas which was plenty. Bread, oil, olives and tomatoes arrived before our courses without having to order it. Lovely atmosphere and great staff.

Nothing popped & no reason to return.
-Mushrooms arrived with the added chorizo unwanted “bonus”
-Shrimp a Brás was nothing special with 2 shrimp
-Sweet potatoes were absolutely tasteless with 4 inedible due to black centers
-chicken was well seasoned but not noteworthy
Starter anchovies we’re decent & decor is great on the plus side.
Lisboa wine passed muster. Search elsewhere in Faro for good food!

Absolute gem of a restaurant! Absolutely delicious food and the service was excellent! Only had 1 night in Faro this trip and I am glad we ate dinner here. Definitely not to be missed.
Worth noting that this is a small place so you may have to wait for a table. Definitely worth the wait! I will make a point of eating here again next time I am in Faro!

La zuppa del giorno era molto buona, così come il vino. Avevo chiesto che non mi mettessero coriandolo nelle pietanze, ma la portata è arrivata .... con il coriandolo che detesto! Ho dovuto ripiegare su un'altra scelta.
Non ho passato una serata rilassante perché non ho potuto mangiare serena.
I camerieri correvano inoltre da una parte all'altra in modo nevrotico. Me ne avevano parlato bene, ma le mie aspettative sono state deluse.

Delicious petiscos, patiently explained by the helpful staff, who gave us excellent recommendations from the menu both for the wine and the food. The rose burrata and pork cheek stew were enjoyed a lot by our group. Delicious!

Sfeervol restaurant, heerlijk gegeten. Je betaalt iets meer dan een gemiddeld restaurant in Portugal maar dan heb je ook wat! Verfijnde smaken...

Very nice tapas and friendly staff. Went early and service was fast and friendly. 5 tapas between 2 is plenty. Pork cheeks were very filling. Wine selection ok and desert choice was also good. Worth coming back!

Come early, order the Couvert and the Chicken (marinated for 48h in vodka and orange juice!) and be happy ☺️ The tuna and the mixed vegetables are also great!
It is a small kitchen, so the waiting time for the food can be longer.. but it’s worth the wait!

Gran Joao, con mucho oficio y pasión. Espectacular el Atún a la mostaza, delicioso el pulpo en ensalada, esquisitas las gambas con patatas y huevo y muy ricas las navajas. Postre casero a la altura de la comida. Buen vino y buen café.

I really wish I could give 5 stars to "a tasca.." as the food, service and location are exceptional.
However, despite enjoying -amongst other - the very good wine (interesting local choices) and the excellent olives and bread, we had a very very unpleasant experience with the "champignon sautés" (mushrooms) as those were accompanied with small remaining of .... Chorizo (pork meat...) ..
As more and more people are rejecting meat and fish, would recommend to write all the ingredients on the menu and until then make sure to ask if the food ordered is really vegetarian!
Except for that, good service, and quiet place with a lot of charm.

Great tapas bar. Not the cheapest, but everything we tried was superb. You should definitely go for the braised tuna and the fresh cod, these are exceptional. They also have a great selection of wines to pair your tapas with. The waiter was taking it easy and let us finish our drinks past the closing time. Unlike other restaurants around, this one is open on Sunday.

Gran opción para cenar en Faro. Pequeño restaurante situado en el Largo do Pé da Cruz, algo apartado del bullicio del centro pero próximo al casco histórico. Gran amabilidad del propietario, cuidada ambientación musical, espacio acogedor. Deliciosos platos con un toque moderno: muy buenas la ensalada de salmón y quinoa y las navajas al ajillo. Buena carta de vinos, déjese aconsejar por la gerencia.

Era una bellissima serata di Giugno quando siamo finiti qui un po' per caso con le valigie appresso, eravamo a Faro solo di passaggio. Questo posto ci ha lasciato un fantastico ricordo: un po' la temperature e la piazzetta deserta hanno sicuramente aiutato a dare atmosfera, ma il cibo ed il vino sono stati di altissimo livello come il servizio e la cortesia dei proprietary (padre e figlio). Un posto che da solo ha dato un senso alla nostra deviazione forzata a Faro.

Tasca con mucho encanto situada al lado de una rotonda poco transitada y con una fuente en medio. El dueño (Jaõ) fue muy atento y amable; la comida está muy rica y a precios más que razonables.

Strange how most of the reviews are from local guides! We left a very nice restaurant to come here after reading the reviews and we really regret it. It was drab and sad looking inside, the staff were not friendly but quietly disinterested. When I ordered tap water it I was brought a small plastic bottled water which was warm and told pointedly ‘I don’t serve tap water’! The food was average. We had the cod, way too many salt lumps on it. Pardon peppers so spicy hot we couldn’t eat them, greasy vegetables. No salads! Overpriced for what it is. I absolutely would not recommend to anyone!

Ne cherchez plus c'est l'endroit où il faut manger des tapas! Alberto, le Maître des lieux, vous accueil en toute simplicité et en français s'il vous plaît pour décrire la farandole de tapas faites "Maison"...et là c'est du 20 sur 20 !

A wonderfull restaurant!! The food is great and made with love. The service is just grand, whomever "I think its probably the owner" just loves his own restaurant which is perfect he sugests perfect wines and dances to one of his great loves MUSIC. If you want good tapas and a welcome feeling do not hesitate to try this restaurant.
