Very good fish and frutti di mare dish for 2. Service was very careful and nice. But the starter including butter, cream cheese and sardine cream in ready small plastic boxes from the shop, like in the hotel, was dissappointing. I would rather eat small piece of real cheese and homemade sardine cream.

Waren hier, weil es gerade eine Aktion "kleines Bier + Tapas" gab. Wurden nicht enttäuscht. Unser Tapas war optisch und geschmacklich super. Von den Sitzplätzen im Freien hat man einen schönen Blick auf den Platz.
Einziger kleiner Nachteil, die zwei benachbarten Lokale spielen unterschiedliche Musik und man hört beides, was ein wenig irritierend ist.

Decepcionou. Pelas avaliações esperávamos um ótimo serviço e uma refeição saborosa. Pedimos um arroz de polvo e entregaram um prato sem nenhum sabor e comemos procurando o polvo. Pedimos a conta e só então percebemos que nos entregaram arroz de peixe com camarão. Ao reclamarmos com o atendente este disse que como tínhamos comido, deveríamos pagar o prato de peixe, que era mais caro. Além disso incluíram uma entrada que não consumimos (e depois retiraram).

Muito bom. Nosso grupo aprovou a cataplana de polvo com mariscos, o lombo de bacalhau com purê de batata doce, a bochecha de porco e os tentáculos de polvo com batatas cozidas. Não é um lugar barato, mas vale pelo esmero na preparação dos pratos e pelo local, no coração da cidade velha de Faro

Recomendo! Um serviço 5* com uma camareira sempre atenta à nossa mesa, a comida com uma qualidade excelente, a barriga de atum estava tão tenra e suculenta, uns acompanhamentos fora do vulgar mas muito saborosos e bem apresentados. As sobremesas estavam uma delicia, queremos muito voltar! Foi uma experiência gastronómica maravilhosa em um ambiente muito agradável. Continuem o óptimo trabalho!

Buona location, buono il vino e la zuppa del giorno, ma i camerieri correvano avanti e indietro un po' troppo nervosamente. Ho chiesto che nelle pietanze non ci fosse coriandolo perché non lo posso mangiare, ma, nonostante le assicurazioni, cel'hanno messo lo stesso. Ho dovuto mandare indietro il secondo. Dovrebbero essere più attenti alle esigenze dei clienti.

Sadly this place doesn't even manage to serve correctly what they have on the menu. What you order is a nice traditional dish, what you get is a simplified, fast made and taste depleted version. Like mine batatas a morro were not a morro... Octopus rice... poorer in taste than some cantinas can make it here. Well .. interior was a plus, no loud TV, good ambient light.

I love the way this restaurant manages to combine genuine and authentic Algarvian with a modern twist. We arrived late and our guests were even later, almost 45 mins later! The staff didn't seem impatient, even though we were the only patrons at that time, in a mid week, mid winter night. They were cheerful and helpful. The food was uncomplicated and delicious. The wine list sufficiently wide ranging to give a real range of choices. The local produce star in the regional dishes, prepared with proper respect for the ingredients. The small shop also offers a range of truly local gifts and delicacies.

Es lohnt sich ALLES zu probieren:

- fisch und Fleischgerichte
- Portweine
Selbst das Brot mit der Sardinenpaste ist ein Genuss
Wenn es zum draußensitzen zu kalt ist, sind allerdings wenig Sitzplätze verfügbar

Nonostante la location molto carina, il cibo non è all'altezza delle aspettative, almeno per un palato italiano. L'antipasto di formaggio e marmellata, nonostante quest'ultima fosse molto buona, era totalmente squilibrato a causa del formaggio semifresco e fin troppo delicato, che neppure si sentiva accostato ad una marmellata di mele cotogne forte e intensa. Il pesce, vera nota dolente, era stracotto, da farti venire il dispiacere visto che si poteva intuire la bellazza iniziale del filetto. Hanno sbagliato a farci il conto imputandoci una cosa non richiesta, ma si è trattato di una piccolezza.

Very nice ambiance, one can have tradicional dishes. My favorite dish is the Codfish with sweet potato pure, the combination of savory and sweet is perfect! Has a good selection of wines. Nice place for meals with family, work and dinner parties.
One can buy souvenirs and food goodies, and artwork is displayed all over the restaurant. One of the best spots in the Algarve.

On first glance, an attractive tourist restaurant in the historic center. But that does not justify their tuna being grey and fibrous, well-done to cover it's lack of freshness, served almost cold. After sending it back for re-heating another piece of the same tuna with the same nasty aftertaste was offered (the veggies in the meantime having been taken off the table). It had to be rejected altogether.
My wife's mackerels were noticeably not today's catch either and went back uneaten after the first bite.
Only bright spot was the service staff who accepted without much fuss our not paying for a disappointing lunch.
Nice location for drinks(only).

Bien mangé, oui certes mais le service n'était absolument pas à la hauteur des prix, et ça c'est grave. Parce que quand tu fais du haut de gamme tu emploies pas n'importe qui pour servir une table de 12 personnes qui ont réservé à l'avance et qui te lachent une belle somme.

Un restaurante con encanto en el centro de Faro (Portugal) donde se combinan tradición e innovación.
Gracias a la amabilidad de João Luis Amaro pudimos conocer la historia de su edificio y su visión sobre la gastronomía local.
Desde 2006 promueven la gastronomía mediterránea, la historia y las tradiciones de la región.
Además de elaborar comidas y cenas también tienen servicio de catering, "showcookings", talleres, experiencias gastronómicas... Incluso puedes ir a comprar al mercado con el chef para luego preparar tu propia "cataplana algarvia".
Todos los platos que probamos estaban riquísimos y las presentaciones muy cuidadas. La atención del equipo de camareros fue excelente.

Nettes Restaurant in der Altstadt. Wir hatten die Cataplana mit Muscheln und Hähnchen. Das essen war in Ordnung, haben aber schon besser gegessen. Preislich isst man dort auch eher gehoben, was aber nicht den Speisen entspricht. Das Fleisch war leider trocken und die Brühe auch nur okay. Der Service war gut und das Ambiente sehr gemütlich.

Sur une petite place adorable, en terrasse protégés du soleil par une armada de parasols blancs, nous avons fait un excellent repas. Une Cataplana divine de fraîcheur et de saveurs et des des desserts simples mais succulents et présentés avec immagination. Une tarte aux pommes et cannelle délicieuse et un fondant au chocolat accompagné d'un sorbet mandarine entouré de crumble à se damner. Le café très bon aussi Service sans attente. Accueil correct qui est le seul point qui pourrait s'améliorer.

Everything they served was very very tasty. We had octopus and pork cheek. In addition a platter with meat (sausages) and cheese. The combination of all the ingredients was a great match and tasted delicious. Got ugly overfried something with few pieces of chopped veggies and wedge of lemon for 16€... Table water for 4€ comes in plastic bottle straight from the supermarket sale...

I ordered the chicken dish stuffed with figs and cheese and honey and orange sauces, very exited to eat when the food finally arrived, after a long wait for the waitress to take notice of us. When the food arrived it looked delicious, but when I cut into the chicken I found bacon! It was impossible to eat without the bacon, as it was everywhere. Which is not written in the main menu, but at the back under a list of ABC in the dishes. Why doesn't it say so in the main list? This made me believe that is was without beacon. I cannot eat bacon. When I sent the dish back I expected to get a new chicken without bacon, but instead the waitress brought me the same plate back! Telling me it was written in the "main" menu that is was wrapped in bacon. I asked to speak to the manager, and he told me the same thing. When I tried to tell him that it was wrong to not include the bacon as a part of the explainaton of the dish, he told me I should have asked him if it was with bacon. How am I supposed to ask when it is not written? I tried to tell him again and again that it was not written, and he proceeded to quarrel with me and kept telling me I should have asked him! He did not act professional at all, kept repeating the same thing again and again. Did not offer to give me a new dish, and did not offer his apologies. At last I told him I would not eat anything, he said "ok, thank you" aggressively closed the menu and left in a hurry. This is the worst service I have received. If you to decide to eat here, by all means do, beacuse the food is good, it's just the service and the behaviour of the worker that is terrible.

Very disappointing. We ordered the special Seafood Cataplana for two 59 euros, plus sautéed veggies and roasted potatoes. They were tasteless and it definitely was not worth 80 euros total for two. Customer service was not welcoming. No one greeted us and no smiles. We had to ask to be seated and order. The location is very convenient and easy to catch tourists' eyes (at the first square from the one large parking lot). If you have time, go somewhere else.

Fantástico sitio para almorzar en el centro de Faro. Comimos dos niños y dos adultos, y todos salimos satisfechos. Los adultos encantados con la cocina elaborada portuguesa y los niños con los platos infantiles... es muy recomendable. El precio, acorde a la calidad, no es barato, pero tampoco es excesivamente caro. Volveré seguro

The positives:
- nice and friendly staff, especially the manager and female waitress, who know their wines.
- food, when cooked properly was amazing and cooked well. I'd recommend the tuna belly, it was delicious
- there was a good chocolate cake on the menu which I'd recommend
The negatives:
-staffs need training, we were given the wrong dish twice. 1) was when we were given another tables main, when we hadn't received our starters and 2) when we ordered for our mains 2 fish dishes we were served the tuna and a different dish from the mackerel which we had ordered. We were given a pork dish.
As all the staff had disappeared from the outdoor area, I had to search for staff inside the restaurant. When I found the waitress it took her some time to comprehend the wrong order and she quickly typed something into her system which was the order of mackerel we hadn't received. This was typed in as a rush and the fish was still partially raw, dark red inside. Thus I had to complain again and the manager came and apologised and offered us a free dessert for which we chose the chocolate cake which was good.
- don't eat the bread and appetizers on the table, they'll charge you 3.50 for decent olives and below par bread and a sardine pate.

Servicio pobre. Tardaron mucho en traer los platos. El entrante tenía un pelo larguísimo en el plato. Una vergüenza. Pedimos un cucharón grande para poder servir un arroz caldoso con pulpo y me dice que no tenían. A la hora de pagar parece que el datáfono no iba bien y tuvimos que pagar con cash como de costumbre en el Algarve donde en muchos establecimientos no se puede pagar con tarjeta. Lugar muy bonito, esta en una zona preciosa del casco antigua de la ciudad de Faro.
Ya había venido alguna vez, en verano, en Agosto con el pico de turistas y nunca había estado 1h y 35m esperando la comida. Entiendo que se pueda tardar 30m 45m pero fue demasiado, ni una disculpa nada.

Avoid avoid avoid! It was our first day in Faro. We decided to go for a dinner to this place based on the overall good opinions. Sadly, it was rather bad experience. We ordered salad and fish. In salad we found bits of raw, undercooked chicken. Fish was extremely salty, impossible to finish. The staff was not behaving professional in this situation. Moreover we were charged for the bread and olives starter we did not ordered.

Filled with promise as in a lovely location with what sounded like an authentic and tasty menu.....but we were disappointed. The location was lovely, the food was ok but did not live up to its promise and the staff were miserable and generally lacking....cod and chickpea salad was delicious, octopus tentacles were ok but spinach was all stalk, tuna belly was big but accompaniment were bland, steak was good as was chicken....shame...

Danie jakie jedliśmy, to ośmiornica (Octopus) z pieczonymi ziemniaczkami na szpinaku. Doświadczenie po prostu nieziemskie, zdaje się, że to prosta potrawa, ale w wykonaniu tego kucharza to był poemat. Do tego regionalne piwo, które mnie zaskoczyło i urzekło. Piwo w smaku posiadało kilka nut smakowo zapachowych, co czyniło je niezwykłym.
Młoda załoga pod wodzą jak się wydaje szefa (też młodego) była bardzo sympatyczna. Daję 5 gwiazdek bo spokojnie zasłużyli.

We've been to only one restaurant in Faro (twice :) but i'm sure this is the best restaurant in town because it is on our top three list of all times. The food is amazing. Mussels, prawns, cured ham, grilled vegetables, bread and olives, a bootle of wine and you are all set for a great evening for two :)

Bom espaço, menu bonito com palavras caras, versões "gourmet" de comida Portuguesa, bom serviço, e infelizmente comida totalmente mediocre. Tivemos trés pessoas da mesma mesa a deixar os pratos a meio.. Bacalhau horrível, bochecas etc. Quando é que estes restaurantes da moda vão perceber que para além de um bom setting, também precisam de servir boa comida?

We absolutely loved this place! It is quite, shaded or sunny depending on your preference. Music is light background noise. The PORK CHEEK is AMAZING! (For those Americans out there, think super tender pot roast with mash potatoes and carrots and mushrooms!) The goat cheese salad was good (tomatoes were superb). Complimentary bread and butter was served.

Absolut überbewertet. Billige Plastemöbel, schlechter Service, Personal hat uns erst ignoriert, dann nicht verstanden, obwohl wir auf portugiesisch bestellt haben, dann das falsche Essen gebracht und nicht zurückgenommen. Chips versalzen, Essen überteuert. Keine Empfehlung!

Restaurante de referência no Algarve, local onde se cruza a cultura e a tradição do Algarve, a comida é excelente e o staff é bastante simpático, por vezes tem animação bastante interessante, nomeadamente até peças de teatro. Recomendo vivamente a visitarem este local.

A boa experiência no Tertúlia Algarvia começa logo desde a chegada. Os 200 metros entre o parque e o restaurante são uma caminhada por uma zona de Faro que desconhecia, mas que me parece das mais bonitas da cidade, culminando numa praça onde ao fundo de situa o restaurante. Começa bem! :)
...e continua com um menu bem escolhido, variado e com um esforço de cozinha de qualidade.
Os pratos vieram bem confeccionados e sobretudo houve uma aposta na componente visual do mesmo, muito cuidado.
O serviço foi impecável, muito simpático e eficiente.
...e porquê o título? Porque apesar de moderno e bonito, falta-lhe aquele toque "caseiro" que dão outro nível aos pratos (e falo a nível do sabor).
O ponto alto acabou por ser a sobremesa, um petit gateaux com alfarroba que combina maravilhosamente bem com um gelado de tangerina. Combinação absolutamente vencedora!
Em resumo, foi uma boa experiência, falta aquele "bocadinho assim" para ser excelente.

Apesar de viver em Faro, fui pela primeira vez a este espaço num jantar de colega de trabalho e foi bastante agradável. A comida estava óptima é o atendimento foi muito bom. Os preços são normais e existem menus de grupos. Recomendo.

Rude staff and average sangria. 16 Euro a jug which is fine, but they presumed not to bring any change from a 20 which annoyed us. We've been ignored all afternoon even though it's empty and feel unwelcome. Next door looks nicer!

The terrace is very nice. The service was not so, just one waiter who takes the orders. We ordered two steaks, where they only asked for one steak how well it should be done. When they were served we asked which one was the medium rare, the waiter didn't know and went back to the kitchen. When he came back he said one was medium rare. While eating the meat it turned out both were medium.
Overly, goodish food but to expensive for the quality they serve.

Service pitoyable. Attente interminable.
Dès notre arrivée pour déjeuner nous ne sommes sentis de trop; le chef des serveurs est si froid, il nous a carrément dit "il n'y a pas de places et je ne sait pas quand il y en aura".
Nous avons attendu plus d'1 heure pour être servis. Un des plats est arrivé brulé.
Nous sommes avec deux enfants en bas âge (1 0mois et 3 ans) morts de faim.
A la fin un des serveurs nous a dit que nous aurions dû dire que nous sommes avec des enfants pour être servis en priorité....
très mauvaise expérience.

Lugar moderno, um pouco caro, mas muito saboroso. O bacalhau (16.90 euros) estava no ponto certo e era bem grande. Nunca imaginei pedir frango (12,50 euros), mas foi a melhor escolha. Recheado com figos, surpreendeu as expectativas. Além disso, a região do centro velho é muito charmosa.

Tolles Restaurant mit einer Dachterasse. Empfehlenswert sind die portugiesischen Pfannengerichte "Catalana" genannt. Bei einem Besuch in diesem Restaurant muss man unbedingt die Räume in der oberen Etage besuchen.

Numa consulta online verifiquei que o restaurante tem na sua carta i tapas, vinhamos de um espetáculo e não pretendíamos jantar muito pois, para nós já era tarde. Já tínhamos ouvido falar do restaurante e queríamos conhecê-lo. Ao chegarmos à entrada um empregado abriu-nos a porta e logo, porque não sabíamos se teriam salas diferentes para refeições mais rápidas, manifestámos interesse em optar pelo menú das tapas, a simpatia desapareceu, laconicamente indicaram-nos um local ao lado "onze tapas". Não compreendi a atitude do empregado pois não fez qualquer tentativa de "ganhar" quatro cliente para o restaurante. Leva-me a pensar em várias hipóteses: ou o restaurante tem uma carta com um menú só para enfeitar, ou é demasiado elitista e julgaram-nos sem dinheiro para uma refeição cara, ou não precisam de todo de mais clientes do que os que já têm.
Ganhou a tasca do lado!!!!

Wir hatten die Kabeljau-Filets mit einem Salat, den Frischkäse mit Honig und Mandeln, sowie eine Platte mit verschiedener warmer Wurst und leckerer Käseauswahl.
Der Kellner war sehr aufmerksam und überaus freundlich. Auf englisch konnte man sich 1A verständigen. Wir schauen gerne nochmal vorbei

Restaurante aberto em Agosto de 2013 e experimentado agora, em Agosto de 2014. Ía-se com um pé atrás com receio de ser mais uma oferta banal para turistas, mas revelou-se uma escolha verdadeiramente acertada. A comida pedida - tentáculos de polvo com grelos e batata a murro (12 euros), lulinhas fritas à algarvia (10,5), e lombinho de porco, amêijoas e xarém (14) estava toda ela excelentemente confeccionada e equilibrada nos ingredientes escolhidos. Revelaram-se pratos tradicionais com uma ponta de inovação. A carta de vinhos é escassa mas oferece a possibilidade de vinho a copo (escolhido o Lello, Douro branco, 1,8). A sobremesa - um fofo de chocolate com molho de frutos silvestres e sorvete de limão (4,2) - foi também ela partilhada e ricamente saboreada. Em segunda visita de estudo, de natureza confirmatória, depois de um queijo de cabra gratinado com maça reineta (4,90), repetiram-se os acertados tentáculos de polvo e acrescentaram-se umas costelas de borrego com molho de hortelã (13), tendo-se rematado com uma tarte de requeijão com doce de abóbora e granizado de amêndoa amarga (4,9). A mais pequena gostou do bifinho de frango com batata frita e ovo estrelado, feito para crianças (6,5). O espaço envolvente da esplanada na magnífica zona velha de Faro é também ele imperdível. E finalmente uma rápida inspecção interior mostrou haver boas condições para os comensais. Enfim, altamente recomendável. A repetir.
