We were staying at the Holiday Inn next door and ate twice at the Raj. The food was delicious, plenty of choice and cooked to personnel preference. The waiters were very professional and friendly.

Another lovely meal and fantastic service very friendly staff would definitely recommend this place and good value for money

Je n'ai jusqu'à ce jour pas trouvée meilleur restaurant indien. Des plats bons, frais et savoureux ! Nous l'avons fait découvrir à ma famille qui n'a jamais mangée indien et ça a été un succès ! Prévoir d'y aller tôt si vous voulez être en terrasse face à la mer, le personnel est adorable et le service impeccable

Unbelievable! My wife and I come to Pera every other year. Each visit includes a stop into The Raj. Get a table outside if there at night. The food is perfection. We've had many items from the menu and nothing has let us down. Nice staff too. See you again in 2020.

We ate here twice during our holiday because the food is great. The view is great and Vicky the manager is great. When we arrived for our first visit he said welcome back as he remembered us from a year ago. We'll be back next year as well.

The best restaurant in Amarcao de Pera,hands down. One of the best Indian meals I've ever had, and definitely the lightest and nicest naan bread. Vicky, the man in charge, has a wide range of experience in different roles and his attention to detail shows in the atmosphere and food. Outstanding.

Excellent food! Honestly the best I've tasted when eating out. Ordered the King Prawn Bhuna and enjoyed every morsel. The Naan bread was the lightest I've tasted yet. Friendly, engaging staff who took the time to look after us. Perfect evening.

Wir essen auch in Deutschland immer wieder gerne indisch, daher haben wir uns in Portugal dazu entschieden dieses Restaurant aus zu probieren. Es schlägt die Restaurants die wir kenne um Längen und bietet dazu auch noch die Möglichkeit, auf einer schön angelegten Terasse mit Meerblick zu speisen. Was will man mehr :) Die Qualität des Fleisches und der Gerichte generell war absolut überzeugend. Wir hatten Chicken Korma das wirklich super lecker war. An den Namen des Lammgerichtes erinnere ich mich nicht mehr, es war etwas schärfer und sehr gut im Geschmack. Ich liebe Mango Lassi bin damit mittlerweile aber vorsichtig, weil ich schon öfter welche hatte, die gar nicht gingen. Nachdem aber bereits die Vorspeise sehr lecker war, probierte ich auch dieses aus und war echt froh. Soeinen schmackhaften hatte ich schon lange nicht mehr. Raj ist echt empfehlenswert! ------ The Raj offers great food with very good value for money and nice views of the sea. We also like to eat indian in Germany, so we decided to try this restaurant in Portugal. It surpasses the restaurants we know and also offers the opportunity to dine on a beautifully terrace overlooking the sea. What else could you want :) The quality of the meat and the dishes in general was absolutely satisfying. We had Chicken Korma which was really delicious. I do not remember the name of the lamb dish, it was a bit spicier and very good in taste. Their Mango Lassi is also great - I have not had such a tasty one for a long time. Raj is really recommendable!

I had really high expectations based on the great ratings on both Maps and TripAdvisor, but I was a bit let down. First the good stuff: Seating was better than average, and the view was great. The snack before the meal was also great. The okay stuff: the food in general was both good and bad. Some of it was a bit oily, and the rice was quite dry and boring. I wanted some really spicy food, and the waiter even asked me several times if I was sure, but all I got was a tiny bowl with some spicy stuff which was far from enough. The portion sizes were also really small, but I guess that's the reason for the low price. The not so good stuff: The waiters seemed a bit rude and as if they didn't want to really serve us or have us there. When I wanted a desert he didn't even wait for my input, but said I wanted the ice cream "right?".. Maybe that's just Indian food that I am not used to, and I was possibly overhyped by the reviews, but the staff quality always have some sort of minimum bar of quality no matter where you go.

The quality of the food is not that great. The sauces are oily, the lamb & chicken are tough, the rice is dry and overcooked. This is trying to mimic an English restaurant rather than produce authentic Indian cuisine. The waiters are not that polite. As the tables start getting filled the kitchen efficiency drops, and the wait times become longer than necessary. Overall...so/so.

This is better than some restaurants in London, so we were very impressed. The restaurant also has a lovely terrace with vires to the sea. I'd happily come back.

Ate here with my coeliac husband. Waiter reassured us he could accommodate his needs and told us he'd get us the poppadoms and pickles which are all fine. Halfway through he came back to say my hubby couldn't eat the tamarind but unfortunately it was too late - he had already eaten it. I really think this is bad, coelics can be made very ill from even a tiny ingestion of gluten. The waiter was not at all apologetic and did not seem to take it very seriously. Other than that, the views are to die for as the sun sets. The food was your typical unauthentic anglicised curry - try Ghurka kitchen if you want something more authentic and tasty.

Staying at the Holiday Inn. Popped in hete for dinner. Fantastic service by Vicky and his team. The food was freshly prepared and served beautifully. Absolutely gorgeous tasting food A very relaxed dining experience. Would recommend to all.

Went there in 2013 and it really was brilliant. Food was spot on. Nice views over the ocean... Felt like we were on a cruise ship. Staff very friendly and helpful.
