Excelente. Atendimento ótimo, o local com mesas ao ar livre, de frente ao Rio Gilão, um cardápio variado e a comida deliciosa. O prato com uma linda apresentação. Tem cardápio infantil e opções vegetarianas. Recomendo muito.

Today we have eaten in this restaurant, located next to the river
Unfortunatelly we didn't like it, I ordered Chicken Curry with Rice, and a bottle of wine
The wine was delivered without a ice cooler, and after 20 minutes the wine bottle was still not opened.
It was 30 degrees outside so we were very thirsty...
Then the Chicken Curry with rice arrived, but
It was almost no rice, so I had to order a additional cup of rice, that came very late, so my Chicken Curry was already cold.
My girlfriend order Greek salad, that contained
mostly salad and carrot, and old dry olives and no garlic and no feta cheese...
We totally don't recommend this restaurant
There are a much better and cheaper restaurants just around the corner

Visited the Black Anchor many times with my husband family and friends, lovely setting by the river. Good value,Great food.Extensive and varied menu to suit all nationalities,we especially enjoy the traditional English style Sunday Lunch and the battered Fish,chips, and mushy peas.Can get very busy so service can be slow especially in the holiday season so sometimes you could be in for a bit of a wait.Great place to visit for families with children,clean toilet/ washroom..indoor and spacious outdoor seating.

Had our wedding recently in Tavira, there were many visits to the black anchor over the weekend and the food, staff and service was always spot on, we had a bbq out on the terrace the day after the wedding, the food was so good there were many second helpings and the staff could not do enough, great sing a long in the bar.

Un bon emplacement sympathique.. l'accueil bien... mes amis ont pris un poulet piripiri frites et moi une assiette de clams.. bien cuit, bon jus au citron, mais j'ai trouvé qu Il y avait beaucoup de clams vides... alors, je sais, on m'a répondu 'c'est la nature' mais qd même pour un plat c'était très light .. j'ai du éponger la sauce avec 5 morceaux de pain pour avoir l'impression d'avoir quelque chose dans l'estomac... bon

Hat einen Schwesterbetrieb mit dem Namen "BEIRA RIO", quasi Tür an Tür. Eine tolle Lage am Fluss, super für den Sundowner, hat ein paar interessante Speisen auf der Karte und eine etwas (viel) schlafmützige Bedienung. Einige Besucher die noch in der Warteschleife waren haben die Flucht ergriffen. Soweit dazu und der Sitzplatz lohnt dann auf jeden Fall. Man muß halt Zeit haben.

A great Irish style bar on the River Gilao. Good choice of beers that are cheaper than anywhere else in Tavira. The food is acceptable, but a lot of people go for the fun atmosphere and the food is somewhat secondary. There are plenty of restaurants around if you want a better quality meal. Caution though. Make sure you have your "insect repellent" well applied if you are out by the river in the evening. The mosquito's can be out in their thousands when the water is low.

A fabulous, very popular, Irish bar located right on the River Gilao with plenty of seating inside and out. A pint of Super Bock was just €3. The bar has friendly, attentive staff.

Los camareros muy muy muy muy lentos y tranquilos.
La cocina tarda más en cerrar que el resto de los bares y restaurantes del lugar, que sobre las 15.00, hora portuguesa, cierran...
La carta, alrededor de 12 euros el plato... Buena y abundante...

Had the lasagne which was a great size portion but dry and tasteless. Strawberry cheesecake was a layer of biscuits in a glass topped with strawberry mousse. I definitely won't be back!!

An Irish themed pub set in the Old part of Tavira Close to the River and Roman Bridge. Popular with British tourists and golfers. The bar serves a very good roast lunch on Sunday which gets very busy. Football is also broadcasted showing UK and European games. The drinks are very reasonably priced.

Can't understand what all the fuss is about. Shocking , really shocking service on the terrace. Tables full of plates and glasses, staff who wander about with empty trays totally ignoring you. Mediocre food that took an eternity to arrive, 90 minutes for a main course ! Toilets that need dragging into the 21st century. The drinks may be cheap, but the whole experience was absolutely diabolical. Give this place a miss. Absolutely rubbish.

Stumbled upon this place more by accident but what a lovely place it was, nice selection of whisky's, great pint of Guinness, a 'don't mess with me' barmaid who is much softer than she lets on, live music in the form of a singer/acoustic guitarist and a really colourful audience, we ended up having a good dance and didn't leave until nearly midnight, of course I can't guarantee the same atmosphere every night but it is still definitely worth a visit.

Visitei apenas uma vez. O estabelecimento é gerido por Indianos. Teem desde pastas, a pizzas,creio que hamburguers também, enfim. A comida tem qualidade, o atendimento, talvez pla barreira linguística, nem tanto. Comi uma pizza, que, não obstante o facto de ter qualidade, deixa um bocado a desejar,parece me que pizza não combina com Índia..

El restaurante, también llamado Beira Rio, muy bueno. Pedimos pescado frito con patatas fritas y langostinos -camarones- en salsa picante. El pescado crujiente. Estaba fresco y bien cocinado. Los langostinos deliciosos. Las raciones abundantes y precio bueno (pescado 9.50 y langostinos 12). Vino blanco de la casa recomendable. Las vistas preciosas, al lado del río, viendo el puente Romano y con brisa suave en pleno agosto. Muy agusto. No le doy 5 estrellas porque el servicio es lento pero el camarero super amable. Hay q ir con tiempo y paciencia. Además, de los pocos sitios en la zona donde te dan de comer a partir de las 16. Recomendable y para repetir. Un plato de almejas sin ningún gusto y cocción pasada... Me pregunto si no eran congeladas. La variedad de almejas no tenía nada que ver con las que hay en la zona. Una lástima. Una dorada al horno correcta, sin más. Buñuelos de bacalao ricos y esponjosos. Algo curioso, te dicen sistemáticamente que hay que esperar al menos una hora para que te atiendan, vayas cuando vayas, esté lleno o no. La espera es demasiado larga para un resultado final bastante mediocre.

Nous avons passé un bon moment au bord de l eau, sur la terrasse ombragée, avec une jolie vue sur le pont romain.
Nous avons mangé de bonnes lasagnes accompagnées de frites (?). Et d un coleslaw. Un repas copieux pour une note très raisonnable. Je conseille.

Gezellige pub met snacks en drank. Gelegen naast de rivier met een mooi uitzicht op de brug van het centrum. Bij droog weer staat de rivier laag en kan je honderden krabbetjes zien op de oever. Het terras is gezellig en wordt savonds al eens van live muziek voorzien. Ze hebben ook een terras in de tuin vanachter maar dan mis je het mooie zicht voorraan helemaal.

No one came to take our order for 20 minutes, and then when they did the waiter was pretty unfriendly and after another 25 minutes of waiting we were told our food would be another 30-45 minutes. We decided to cancel the order and leave. Definitely don’t recommend.

Tenho sempre muita dificuldade em avaliar um bar situado num local histórico de uma cidade tipicamente portuguesa, como Tavira, em que tudo está pensado para não nos sentirmos em casa, desde a decoração, passando pelos empregados e pela oferta (até os amendoins e o mofo a que sabem vêm de Londres!). É verdade que a maioria dos clientes habituais não sabe o que é o sabor de um tremoço salgado, o aroma de uma aguardente de medronho ou de um licor de amêndoa amarga e quer é tomar banho em cerveja morna e râguebi, críquete ou basebol no ecrã, mas ainda assim...

Asked for my steak to be cooked well done had to wait 20 mins for another and it was not the way I asked for it to be cooked clearly the chef did not want to do what he was asked to do.
My girlfriend's meal was alright as I ate some of that while I waited.
Veg was weird tasting and I love my veg it was a massive let down yuk.

Fantastic Irish bar, loads of large screen TVs with all the latest sports on, great menu, ate here twice, the fish and chips are perfect and I had the biggest lasagne I've ever had here with homemade coleslaw. Sunday lunch is fantastic, and it's also dog friendly which was a big bonus.

Leuk aan het water om een drankje te doen, maar laat het vooral daarbij. We hebben 2 weken door Portugal gereisd van Porto naar Tavira en hebben beide nog nooit zo slecht gegeten. M’n vriend heeft zijn spareribs terug gestuurd. Wel mocht hij gratis iets anders bestellen en we kregen een drankje van het huis. De burger had geen smaak vond ik.

Un restaurante con buena comida a buen precio. Por 20€ cenamos mi pareja y yo estupendamente. La comida estaba bastante rica y los platos vienen bien compañados con verduras, patatas, salsas o alguna guarnición según el plato. La cocina cierra a las 22:00h pero el local se queda abierto hasta las 2 de la noche con música y copas a modo de pub. Las vistas al río son bastante bonitas, pero algunas mesas de fuera carecen de luz y es imposible comer en ellas.
No disponen de carta en español.

Rewriting this review. I'm sat here right now, been many many times before and they've never been very quick, but we've been sat here 20 minutes and nobody has even been out yet. Theres the two of us and 5 other tables occupied. No busy No attempt to serve. Wow.

We had to wait so long on a previous visit that we went elsewhere, but as this place is in such a beautiful setting near the riverside then we decided to give it another go. Our drinks arrived but it took over an hour for our food to turn up- with no feedback from any of the staff about such a long wait. Indeed if they were struggling to cope then we should have been informed of a long wait when we ordered. Not being able to order Fish and Chips where we live (in a quiet area of Spain) this is what we ordered and were looking forward to - what a mistake; the fish (certainly not Cod or Haddock or Plaice) was bland and wet - like eating mushy cotton wool! The batter was crispy though on the cusp of being overtones I wish that I had just ordered the chips and mushy peas which were fine, but an expensive way to eat these 2!! The young lads as staff were pleasant but seemed to lack an experienced boss keeping an eye on things. Won't be back to give this place a third chance.

Deadly place to go really enjoyed this place. arrived in faro at 9pm then went straight here after dropping our bags off in the nearby hotel. had a lovely few drinks beside the river in front of the pub . staff are very friendly. they also put a lovely bbq on for us in the back of the pub food was delicious. I will definitely go back again.

Parking in Low Season not a problem but not so good from May onwards.

Hamburgaren var rå,skickades tillbaka till köket inte den bästa hamburgaren jag ätit.Vi var 3 personer och beställde 1 stor och 2 små öl när notan kom tänkte de ta betalt för 3 stora och 3 små öl.Killen som serverade var trevlig.Det finns andra bättre restauranger i Tavira.

Leuk aan het water gegeten. Vriendelijk personeel informeerde ons dat het eten even op zich kon laten wachten ivm een grote party die er plaats vond. Echter eten kwam toch redelijk snel.

Selbst schuld, das einzige was sich in diesem Restaurant auf Portugal bezieht ist die friche Salatbeilage sowie die Mehrwertsteuer. Warum verlaufe ich mich in einem irischen Pub.
Allerdings muss ich doch bekennen dass Preis-Leistungsverhältniss ok ist.

We waited 1 hour for our meal and got the wrong order. The server argued that it was the way they served it. It took another hour arguing with the severs before a more senior manager arrived and apologised and cancelled the bill. However we could not eat what they served us and left hungry.

Waiters were great. Had tomato soup as a starter which was so tasty, then had the tanglitelle but it has an excessive amount of onions in it, about 1/3 onions 2/3 pasta.

We couldn't find a Portuguese restaurant open on a Sunday early evening so we ended up in this Irish pub for tourists who don't want to eat any local food. We had a passive aggressive Scottish waitress who was making sly mean comments to customers around us.

Had an enjoyable lunch for our family of 6 today 15 Aug 17. Nice and relaxed Irish Bar in a great location on the riverbank near the Roman Bridge. Good value meal and 1 drink each €47. Good ranhe of good available. BBC Ribs very good and gourmet burger good.

The waiters ignored us for about 25 minutes before we could finally place our order. We had to beg him to pay attention to us, otherweise he would probably have ignored us for another half an hour. I know that you need to be patient in Portugal, but this is simply bad service. We ordered the burger with cheese, bacon, salad and fries. The meat itself was ok, but the burger came with literally about 8 french fries, no bacon, no salad whatsoever. The burger consisted of a dry patty and some molten undefinable cheese, no lettuce, nothing. and To me, this is fraud. They promised to bring us cutlery to the table but never did. Another 20 minutes of waiting before we were allowed to pay - what a relief to finally leave this place!

Great place with a great atmosphere, the live singer was a nice addition. The place overlooks a river which makes it nice in the evening, but there are lots of mosquitos so make sure to apply repellant first.
The food wasn't anything special.
The cheese board was great with a nice selection but it only comes with five crackers despite having a mountain of cheese? We took the cheese home because it was excellent, but more crackers wouldn't hurt.
The burger was a bit uninspired, the sword fish was dry and overcooked and the chicken cataplana lacked flavour and was a bit boring.
But these lewdowns were forgiven by the nice atmosphere, it was really friendly and nice to just sit and relax there. We would eat there again.

Great place to go. Service was a little slow and could be improved. The food was well cooked and I enjoyed the BBQ Ribs. I liked the large portion size and it was good value for money. Very affordable. The location is good too.

Warning - Honest Review !
We have been visiting Tavira for the last 3 years and we have eaten in all the best restaurants in the town but I was completely shocked at the high quality of the food served here ! I honestly can't rate this restaurant high enough !
The deserts are unreal !

Spent three weeks in Tavira, used this place a lot as most of the other bars in February were closed. They have some good singers on at night, and karaoke. We have a few afternoon glass's of wine by the river, along with a nice Sunday lunch they also do a good fish and chips with mushy peas. Drinks are a good price and it's so nice sat by river when the sun is out.
