O Tinto da Casa "Tinoco" - um verdadeiro alentejano de se lhe tirar o chapéu!...
De longe - o melhor e mais fino requinte dos restaurantes de Tavira!

This was seriously one if the loveliest dining experiences. Ate there as walk ins with my daughter and (elderly) mother and treated with such kindness, fed such beautiful food (lemon sole for me, perfect!), and had such a perfect wine recommendation. Wonderful!

Really pleased we booked this as it was one of the best meals we had. The baby squid starter with garlic and olive oil was excellent as was the fillet steak with prawns, rack of local lamb. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Only downside was the hectic pace of service.

Amazing food and wonderful service. When we asked for recommendations of wine we were advised based on our taste preferences and pointed towards a very reasonably priced bottle. The fish (Codfish dish and tuna dish) were beyond what we expected. We'll be going back before we head home!

The food here was wonderful. However, the service, oh-so-friendly, was painfully slow - it was hard to attract attention in order to place our order, and we were in the restaurant for over an hour before our food arrived. We then had to ask 3 times for our bill, and eventually stood up to leave in order to gain any response.
However our greatest concern was the overcharged wine. The 14-euro bottle we ordered was not available, but an alternative was brought and we were assured it would be the same price. Oddly, on the bill, it was 21 euros. The staff insisted they never said it would be the same price (did they mean we were lying?) and refused to change it. Eventually, they said they would return the 7 euros - but all in 20 centime pieces.
Such a shame - my friend was going to come back next week with her extended family, but obviously now will never do so.

Excelente restaurante. La comida muy muy buena, la presentación de los platos extraordinaria parece de Masterchef; la terraza con vistas al río y muy agradable para cenar sin sentir calor. El precio lo mejor, platos muy abundantes y cuidados al detalle. Sin duda ha sido todo un descubrimiento este restaurante, lo recomiendo totalmente. Algo "negativo" a destacar podría ser el tiempo de espera, pero bien merece la pena porque la recompensa es muy satisfactoria!!! Sin duda repetiremos en un próximo viaje.

BEST SEA FOOD EVER ! I really recommend this place. The shrimps, goat cheese, squids and tuna fish were absolutely amazing. It's also not expensive. Service is great. Wine is tasteful. What do you need more ? Thanks for the evening.

Great restaurant. Very friendly and caring staff, always smiling. They have a big terrace where they seat most customers at night and it looks great. Food is in big portions and tasty. Can’t recommend this one enough!

My wife and I dined here on Tuesday 7th August and having read reviews,we were really looking forward to it.Our experience was one of chaotic service,limited choice of wine and no beer available. It took 1hour and 50mins for our mains to come,before which,there was a mix up with our starters.The food when it eventually arrived was delicious but the poor service really took away from our enjoyment of the evening .We must have unlucky judging by other peoples experiences

Never disappoints. Always very helpful and friendly staff, great environment , superb food and wines. Very highly recommended. But book so as to ensure that you get a table. Extensive food and wine menu - All very good. Staff superb. They will truly do their very best to take care of you. 5 stars !!!

Especially on a weekend: make a reservation!
Food was delicious, but not fancy (e.g. the vegetables were just laying on a separate plate).
Friendly staff, quick service though usually a busy place.
Clean, but not very cosy.

Servico muito fraco um pouco caotico, fiz o pedido e esperei uma hora pelo prato. Ao meu lado os clientes com fome o que e natural devido ao tempo de espera, acabaram por comer um prato que nao pediram. O preco dos vinhos são caros para a qualidade oferecida. E apesar de no telhado haver uma boa vista, eu nao recomendo.

Overrated. Good presentation but flavours missed. Orange sauce too sweet for the fish. Chocolate mousse sugary, not much chocolate flavour. Good clams. Comparing to other local places: worse food, higher prices.

Réservation fortement conseillée. Service un peu long mais ça en vallait largement la peine ! J'ai pris du thon façon Algarve (13€) et c'était sincèrement l'un des meilleurs plats que j'ai mangés de ma vie ! Le patron parle au minimum 4 langues et est hyper sympa malgré le fait qu'il soit débordé. Allez-y d'urgence, une institution à Tavira.

Some of the best food I've ever had. Came here twice last year and both times were amazing, possibly even better this time and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. If you are in tavira you HAVE to come here.

Good wine and good food let down by frantic serving staff. Running around and rushing through the tables, but somehow their service was slow... I asked for a steak knife (for my steak) and it set in motion a Rube Goldberg machine of suffering. Be careful when paying by card and don't hand it to them directly - they're so swift you risk losing a finger with their ruthless efficiency!

No hay palabras para describir lo buena que estaba la comida. Pedí con mi pareja, atún con jenjibre y naranja; y pollo asado sin picante. El punto del atún perfecto y la presentación y sabor únicos. El pollo estába muy bueno, jugoso y tierno. Luego los postres, el mouse de chocolate con sal marina y almendras me encantó, el punto crujiente y el contraste de lo salado con lo dulce está pero que muy bien.
Por el encanto de la zona, y por la buena comida y buen hacer de los camareros le doy 5 estrellas y recomiendo a todo aquel que quiera disfrutar de un buen manjar que se pase por allí

Servizio buono, con personale giovane e gentile e terrazza con vista sulle strade di Tavira e sul fiume molto suggestiva.
Rapporto qualità-prezzo ottima!
L'unica cosa da migliorare sarebbe la cura negli interni del locale e soprattutto nel bagno.

Salimos a cenar como buenos españoles a última hora de la noche (22h) y, tras darnos con la puerta en las narices en un par de sitios, nos topamos con este restaurante en el que nos dieron mesa. Tras una espera de unos 15 minutos a que se fueran unos clientes anteriores, nos subieron a la terraza y pudimos disfrutar de una maravillosa cena. Como llegamos a última hora, no les quedaban más raciones de atún, que creo que es la especialidad del local, y nos recomendaron pedir un pez espada que estaba buenísimo. También pedimos unas gambas y unos calamares de entrantes que estaban también muy bien. Y no puedo dejar de mencionar los postres: caseros y riquísimos. Compartí una tarta de pera y una mousse de chocolate que estaban para llevarme al repostero a casa. Salimos a poco más de 200€ las 9 personas que estábamos (2 de ellos niños, eso sí) y con dos botellas de vino (que por cierto, nos recomendaron y estaba buenísimo) Y por último, un personal agradabilísimo, siempre con una sonrisa y haciendo bromas, cosa que tiene mucho mérito cuando prácticamente nos presentamos cuando estaban cerrando. En resumen, de diez.

Was recommended by our host at Quinta dos perfumes. We tried to book but it was full. We did a walk in as we were passing and told they could fit us in if we returned. So glad we did. Food was excellent. Baby squid starter superb, as was the clams starter also. Himself had swordfish & I had lemon sole. Honestly some of the best and freshest fish eaten in Portugal & Spain this holiday. It was so good we returned again and were not let down the second time sea bream with prawns in an orange sauce, simple and delicious. It’s a small terrace with miss matched tables and chairs. The place is buzzing. The pace hectic. But the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Great wine selection - local Portuguese wines also. If you want snails pace I wouldn’t recommend here but if you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of busy serving staff who are nothing short of exceptionally friendly then definitely visit. Don’t forget to book and always worth dropping in too!

Primeiro de tudo à que conseguir uma reserva de mesa ou gostar de jantar pelas 23h, só serve jantares! No Verão os jantares são servidos no terraço, algumas mesas com vista previligiada para o rio. Após conseguir sentar, os jantares que aqui tive foram sempre experiências únicas. Atum cebolada, pato, os bifes, enfim toda a ementa deste restaurante é de certeza boa. Uma boa carta de vinhos onde a última vez que aqui estive bebi um vinho algarvio que era mesmo muito bom. Sobremesa que é obrigatória é o gelado caseiro de laranja e alfarroba. Os preços depois de tudo o que aqui descrevi, Impressionantemente são muito em conta. Paragem obrigatória.

Even without reservations (which you should make) we were welcomed warmly, service was impeccable, friendly, and first class. The food was delivered as ordered even though the six of us had different meals. Absolutely the best meal we have had since arriving in Portugal. Returning numerous times until we leave to go back to Canada.make this a MUST stop for a fine meal and experience!

Serviço atencioso, mas sem pretensões, boas sugestões para o jantar: comemos atum com presunto e cogumelos, filete de robalo e um bife à portuguesa. Boa relação qualidade /preço. Optámos por um bom vinho algarvio dentro da gama de preços. Sobremesas muito boas. Um local a repetir, dado que os pratos que passavam por nós tinham também muito bom aspecto!

We have just dined here and need to review immediately while still overwhelmed by the experience. We hadn't booked thinking not necessary at this time of year - but we were lucky! The restaurant filled up very quickly and understandably so. From the moment we arrived the service was perfect and so friendly. The food was exquisite but unpretentious. The goats cheese, apple, honey and almond starter was absolutely gorgeous, seafood rice and duck breast mains fabulous and perfectly cooked, and just beautiful creme brulee dessert. The wine was lovely and the bill a very happy surprise.Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Excellent fish, simply but beautifully prepared (we had grilled salmon and grilled sea bream, both accompanied by delicious vegetables and roasted potatoes). They are frequently busy, so reservations are a good idea. Service was good, efficient and friendly (and English-speaking for those of us lame enough not to speak any Portuguese).

Apesar de ser um restaurante com ar de "para estrangeiro" (até porque quando fomos a maioria dos clientes eram turistas estrangeiros) e do ar "hipster" do restaurante e dos funcionários, a comida é surpreendentemente boa e a um preço bastante raozável e com boas doses. Em especial destaque para o atum à algarvia (aqui rebaptizado para "atum à brisa do rio") bastante saboroso e com carne no ponto

Really good restaurant with a roof terrace. Pity not on the river as would have been spectacular. I had the lamb which was very slightly overcooked. Creme brulee as dessert. This was excllent. Good service & reasonably priced. Lovely evening. Very busy & you need to book in advance

Très bel endroit, très bon accueil, très bonne cuisine. Réservation obligatoire. La salle peut accueillir des groupes, ce qui nous a malheureusement gâché le repas (à cause du volume sonore). Mais prévenus, on est moins déçu ! Allez-y, c'est succulent !

The atmosphere is a touch more personal/exclusive perhaps, the owner/staff are very pleasant helpful and welcoming. The menu has a good range and the food is always good. It is popular so often need to book.

Excelente. Um preço muito em conta por um jantar de grupo, onde comemos e bebemos à descrição. A comida era tanta que comemos as entradas e quando chegou o prato principal já quase ninguém tinha fome. Estava tudo óptimo e o atendimento é 5 estrelas também. || Excellent service. A really good price for a group diner, where we drank and ate a lot. So much so that after the starters, everyone was full and almost could not eat anymore. Everything was delicious and the employees were so nice. I'll surely come back next year.

Excellent food at a reasonable price. Tables on top balcony, only open at dinner. Better make reservation in summer months. Good selection of fish, always fresh, with some twists in dish preparations. Average price for 3 people at 60 euros.

what appears to be a tiny back street restaurant but good food, good service, very popular in summer, booking advised. good value. been there several times,not had a problem with anything at any time of year.
