Hervorragender Fisch vom Grill (Dorade kann ich sehr empfehlen). Service war sehr nett und die Aussicht zum Sonnenuntergang sucht ihresgleichen.

Der Fisch vom Grill war sehr lecker. Aber alles andere leider nicht dem Preis angemessen. Von der missmutigen und lustlosen Bedingung, über einen Witz von Salat (als Hauptmenü und Beilage) bis hin zur Qualität der Pommes (als einzige Alternative für Fischvermeidende). Da gibt es sicherlich ander (Strand-)Juwelen in Portugal zu entdecken.

Zero effort food cooked with no love. It looked like my puny chicken had been punched to death on the plate. Expensive, little choice and no care made. Don't be fooled by the great location, go find a decent restaurant in the town.

Great spot, terrible food, no choices on the menu and overpriced , no love in it. We had (extremely) wet shrimps without any flavour. Seemed they were boiled in dishwasher water.
The best was the "toallita refrescante" haha!

Das Restaurant liegt direkt an der Atlantikküste. Hier bekommt man tollen frischen Fisch und Fleisch direkt vom Grill dazu gibt es guten Wein und auch eine leckere Auswahl an Nachspeisen und Kuchen... Die Bedienung ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit... Der Ausblick ist einfach grandios, vor allem wenn man den Sonnenuntergang genießen kann. Ein MUSS bei jeden Besuch in Vila Nova de Milfontes!!!

I would be just amazing to sit there and enjoy the setting and the view, the truth is that Coupana is one of the few last traditional seaside fish restaurants that remains authentic. The fish arrives each morning and is grilled and prepared right in front of you. Amazing sardines, sea bass and sea breams plus an good choice of local wines. The staff will just make you feel at home.

What can I say that these photos can't. It was absolutely gorgeous. We had an amazing Giltead aka Dourada lunch which was cooked to perfection over the hot charcoal. The balancing rock formations that people made on the beach was very cool. So glad we stopped.

Very well located restaurante with an amazing view to the beach. This is old restaurant and looks out-dated. Menu is VERY simple with not much choices. Grilled fish with boiled potatoes and salad was what we had.
Salad came first, 15min later the potatoes, and 5min later the fish. Fish was undercooked, being raw in the middle. We sent it back and the potatoes got cold after waiting for the fish to come back. No “I’m sorry” or something like that. They just took it and brought it back.
Staff is friendly but this alone does not make it a restaurant. You have much better restaurant choices in Milfontes area before going to this one.

Chegamos as 21:20 e ninguém nos disse que fechava às 22:00!
Só havia linguado grelhado e pagamos 50€ (duas pessoas) e depois das 22:10 começaram a arrumar tudo e ainda vieram perguntar se queríamos café porque iam desligar a máquina!

Un Resto sympa, vue superbe depuis la terrasse. Â priori il vaut mieux réserver mais étant arrivé vers 12h30 on a eu la chance d'avoir une table pour 2 en bord de terrasse. Mais vu le monde qui est arrivé par la suite....réservez ;)
Le serveur parlais français (mais aussi allemand visiblement). Très sympa.
La carte est variée. Poissons bien sûr mais aussi hamburger ou 1/2 poulet et des salades.
Le 15 sept 2018 nous avons payé le 1/2 poulet grillé 13€ et 6 maquereaux de bonne taille 14€ (on peut les voir griller viandes et poissons sur le côté) servi avec frites ou petites pommes de terre.
Bons desserts en grosse portion, verre local de blanc généreusement servi, doux et légèrement sucré.
Une adresse charmante et délicieuse que l'on recommande des deux mains pour se faire un bon souvenir.

Wir sind spontan in das Lokal rein. Der Kellner hat uns einen Tisch frei gemacht. Die Dorade wurde uns vorher gezeigt und abgewogen...danach auf dem Außengrill gegrillt. Geschmacklich absolut 1a, preislich etwas hoch, aber noch angemessen...man zahlt das tolle Ambiente halt mit. Wir waren absolut zufrieden und würden wieder hingehen

Sans avoir réservé, les serveurs adorables nous ont tout de même trouvé une place de choix face au coucher du soleil ! Le lieu est magnifique, la carte simple et claire et le poisson absolument délicieux, frais et cuit devant vous au feu de bois. Nous y avons passé la plus belle soirée et le meilleur repas de notre séjour, pour un prix très raisonnable ! Encore merci pour ce beau moment

Nach einem Strandtag leckere Sachen vom Außengrill. Toller Blick vom Tisch auf die Bucht. Mann sitzt direkt am Meer. Alles frisch zubereitet und lecker. Manchmal schwer einen Tisch zu bekommen (lieber reservieren). Wir waren 2x dort und sehr zufrieden.

Reizvoll gelegen mit rustikalem Ambiente und sehr gut besucht. Das Beste an diesem Ort ist die Lage. Direkt am Strand gelegen, hat man einen tollen Blick auf den Atlantik und zur rechten Zeit ein Abendessen mit traumhaften Sonnenuntergang. Sofern frei, kann man drinnen oder auf der überdachten Terasse essen. Wenn es nur darum ginge wären sicherlich 4 Sterne drinn gewesen. Das Essen ist aber nur durschnittlich. Gute portugiesische Hausmannskost eben und nicht mehr. Die Preise zwar nicht richtig hoch aber überdurchschnittlich. Das Essen war schmackhaft. Dieses Restaurant ist empfehlenswert für Diejenigen, die neben Ihrem Essen auch Aussicht wünschen.

Just a piece of meat or fish on the grill. Served on a steel plate with salade and pale chips. Meat was dry. As desert a Magnum ice-cream which you have to serve yourself. Only the clams where acceptable, but very expensive (18€). People smoke on the terrace of the restaurant where people eat.... Incredible on a location like this, that they serve food this bad. The view is amazing though...

Ristorante molto informale sulla spiaggia vicino al Faro di Vilanova de Milfontes. Fa pesce e carne alla griglia su un maxi barbecue in terrazza. Ottimo e a prezzo molto ragionevoli. Bella vista. Bellissimo al tramonto con la marea che si ritira. Personale gentile. Facilità di trovare posteggio a pochi passi. Adatto anche a famiglie con bambini.

O choupana é um restaurante de praia, com tudo a que se tem direito: Banco corrido, janelas abertas nos locais em que há janelas, cheiro a grelha, etc.
É, obviamente, um local para se ir de chinelo e calção de praia.
Escusado será dizer que aqui o que se come é peixe. Há sempre espaço para a carne, mas o peixe é rei.
Gostei bastante, mas acho que podia ter gostado ainda mais. É muito bom e toda a vista sobre o mar vale a pena.
Pedimos um robalo para 2, mas o mestre cuca optou por não escalar o peixe o que fez com o que o peixe estivesse ligeiramente cru junto à espinha. Disseram nos que há clientes que gostam... ok, mas para mim o sushi é noutro tipo de restaurante.
O atendimento é cuidado.

Portugal es uno de esos países maravillosos que tenemos la gran suerte de tener como vecinos. Gente estupenda y una gastronomía deliciosa y A Chupada está dentro de mi ranking como uno de mis restaurantes favoritos. La materia prima fresca, bien elaborada, deliciosa. El lugar está entre un chiringuito y un restaurante sobre la playa, muy agradable, todo en madera y con grandes ventanales para disfrutar del mar. Varias parrillas hacen que el aroma te alimente antes incluso de sentarte.
Muy buen servicio y muy profesional.
Aceptan tarjetas de crédito.
Más que recomendable.

Reading the reviews, you either love or hate this place. We loved it.
We just dropped by on an early evening, with the sun still up and we hadn't planned to go out for dinner but were just stunned by the view of the restaurant. Right at the coast, overlooking the ocean, we were lucky to get a table on the terrace. Yes, you do pay extra for the location, compared to other places to eat in town. But it is well worth it!
We had the clams for starters and then the sole from the barbecue, both were just great! The price on the menu mentions the fish in kg; once you decide, the fish is weighed and presented to you, so you aren't in the dark about what you pay. There is some very basic salad and fries that come with the fish, and yes, it could be presented with more love. But I couldn't care less about the garnishes, we came for fish and seafood, and they were awesome.
Service was nice and attentive, even though the place was crowded when we arrived, so as an overall experience, we had great food in a stunning scenery and it was worth the money.

Amazing fish!!
This restaurant has amazing fresh fish! We had grilled Dourada (Gilt-head Seabream) and Sardines and both were amazing and fresh! I recommend the house white wine and the almond and sweet potato pie for dessert.
I’m sorry but if you want chicken this is NOT the restaurant for it.

Nice view for a sunset dinner however be prepared to wait if no reservation. We tried to book a table a couple of hours before but were told that half the restaurant was already booked and the other half couldn’t. We arrived and had to litteraly harrass the waiters to get some attention every now and then and be included on the waiting list. Fish was fresh but took ages to come as there is only one small BBQ for the whole restaurant... The staff is not too briefed on the wine menu and we had to talk to 3 different people to get an answer.

Half the food very good (robalo) the other half was not brilliant (sardinha). The staff was nice, but didn't take into consideration the fact that we said the sardinhas were not brilliant. Reason for 4 stars is because I've bewn there in the past and all the food was really good.

Attention à réserver pour un soir en semaine en août. Service sympa et efficace. Prix des poissons au kilo (50€/kg pour la sole, au final 35€ pour un poisson de 700g à se partager à deux).
Accompagnements décevants. Les frites ne sont pas assez cuites.
Bref, un restaurant pour touristes comme un autre avec une très belle vue.

Las vistas al atardecer impresionan (20.45h). En verano tienen mucho lío y hay que llegar pronto para coger mesa sin esperar mucho tiempo. El servicio está bien, aunque con tanto lío se despistan un poco y tardan en atenderte. El pescado es magnífico. Tomamos lubina porque lenguado ya no tenían.

I prezzi sono più alti rispetto alla media, molti dei quali sono segnati al kilo sul menù (quindi non si sa bene quanto verrà a costare quel che si prende). Ho preso la carne, ma nulla di ché purtroppo. Sono sicura che il pesce sia molto più buono.

fantastische lage, nettes personal, preisniveau etwas gehoben, fisch vom grill gibt es für ca 40€/kg also ca 14 euro pro portion, das halbe hähnchen schlägt mit 13€ zu buche. wer einen der besten plätze haben will sollte reservieren. ein manko ist der grill, der alle plätze im umkreis einnebelt

Some of the people giving this place bad reviews are SO stupid and I’m here to correct this. Firstly, Portuguese meals served “just” on a silver plate is EXACTLY the type of meal you want for an authentic experience while visiting. Secondly, why would you order a chicken when this area is renowned for it’s seafood? Rookie errors by stupid tourists.
We arrived here quite late and just before the kitchen was closing. We had an incredibly friendly waiter squeeze in our order and said he’d take care of us because he knew we were hungry.
He didn’t disappoint! We had an amazing feast - sardines, clams, steak, pork, salad and chips. He went above and beyond the entire time to serve us and the food was absolutely delicious! The best part, it’s all enjoyed next to the ocean! Definitely recommend coming here

Un sitio maravilloso. Puede que algo más caro que otro restaurante dentro del pueblo, pero solamente el lugar merece la pena pagar un par de euros más. Soy del gremio y los he pagado muuy a gusto. Volvería si vengo otra vez a la zona... Sin dudarlo ni un segundo!!!

Mt caro, pratos mal confeccionados e servidos a miséria por exemplo amêijoas supostamente à bulhão pato, 20,00€ e numa água deslavada e ainda alho cru para embelezar, mandei vir uma dose de febras por 13,00€, apresentam 2 mini febras numa travessa mini, os empregados mais velhos do restaurante supostamente donos, de uma importância fora de série, altivos, arrogantes e com ar superior. Ao que me pareceu são simpaticos só com estrangeiros, sim porque esses eles conseguem enganar com os preços exorbitantes que levam. Pena existir gente assim, não terem gosto pelo que fazem além de não terem a noção do que será nitidamente correcto. Só uma coisa boa foi a vista para a praia.

O restaurante é simples. A vista é deslumbrante. A comida, muito bem feita. O robaldo estava fresco e grelhado na medida. É um dos lugares imperdíveis de Vila Nova de Milfontes

Es hätte so nett sein können...
Das uns für seinen guten Fisch von unserer Gastgeberin empfohlene Restaurant, welches sich direkt am Strand in einem Holzhaus auf Stelzen befindet fanden wir zum Sonnenuntergang gut besetzt an. Die Aussicht war schön und die Stimmung war gut... bis die Speisekarte und das obligatorische Brot mit Oliven kamen.
Abgesehen von den völlig überhöhten Preisen wurden die Vorspeisen „Butter“ und „Pastete“ in Plastik eingeschweißt serviert (wie beim Frühstück im Hotel), dazu ein paar lieblose Oliven und ein kleiner Käse aus dem nächstbesten Supermarktregal... alles kurz auf den Tisch geknallt.
Die Makrelen von der Karte waren aus, nachdem wir nach deren Größe und Zustand fragten (dabei war es eins der wenigen Gerichte mit Festpreis auf der Karte), der sonstige Fisch sollte zwischen 40-50 EUR/kg kosten...
Wir haben uns kurzerhand für die Touristenabzocke bedankt und sind gegangen... den im Ort gibt es noch mehr und weit aus bessere Restaurant wo das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis noch besser stimmt.

The view is breathtaking, especially the sunset. Staff is very friendly, speaks English and Italian, on top of Portuguese of course. Food is amazing, grilled fish and shrimps are highly recommended. I had a plate of 6 big shrimps (a choupana), fresh and tasty. Dessert is very good too. Chocolate cake and cream tart are both memorable. No regrets just joy and appreciation.

Excellent view! Great staff, and the grill smelled amazing. We only stopped here for drinks but from the looks of it the food they served looked amazing and you should definitely go here for either food or drinks. Worth your while

13 Euro für ein halbes Hähnchen mit Pommes ohne Mayonaise oder Ketchup und paar klein geschnittene Tomaten und Zwibeln, was man dann einen Salat nennt. Selten so schlecht gegessen. Bei einer Döner Bude wäre es für 4,95 € leckerer gewesen. Die Bedienung war sehr unfreundlich. Überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert.

El sitio inmejorable con puesta de sol incluida, el trato eficiente y educado. Tomamos sardinas y medio pollo con patatas y ensalada, todo a la brasa y riquísimo. Para acabar un licor de almendras muy bueno también. Todo por un precio bastante ajustado. Un sitio para repetir sin duda.

Hier bezahlt man das tolle Ambiente.Frischer Fisch war gut,aber der Preis zu hoch.Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich ,und es lohnt sich hier einmal mit direktem Meerblick zu essen.Das Ambiente ist urig,wie in einem großen Baumhaus aus Holz.

Auténtico restaurante a pie de playa, hecho de madera, con vistas geniales. Tienen una buena barbacoa donde se cocina bastante, sobre todo los pescados frescos de temporada (un buen sitio para probar róbalo o sargo, por ejemplo). El pollo a la brasa muy recomendable. Bien acompañado todo con ensalada y patatas. No es my barato.
