Amazing place, amazing view, amazing service, amazing prices! I can't believe we found this gem on our way down from Pena palace!

Um lugar paradisíaco na Serra de Sintra, com uma fabulosa vista do Palácio Nacional e arredores..... Os jardins deste lugar são fantasticamente belos, com exóticas mas simples vegetação e flores que abraçam as numerosas estátuas e obras de arte que cuidadosamente foram espalhadas pelo espaço...... A casa é linda recheada de objetos de arte , os donos são simpatiquíssimos, fazendo-nos sentir à vontade , relaxados como se tudo aquilo fosse nosso..... a comida é típica portuguesa , deliciamo-nos com um prato regional que nunca tínhamos tentado e adoramos..... enquanto almoçava-mos éramos "entretidos" pelo som harmonioso do piano que era tocado na altura dentro de casa ...... Uma experiência 5 estrelas ... quando voltarmos a Sintra já sabemos onde almoçar!

Ein richtig toller Ort, paradiesisch. Nette Bedienung, mehrsprachig auch Deutsch. Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Kuchen super gut. Etwas versteckt, wenn man den Wanderweg zum Palacio de Pena läuft, kommt man dran vorbei. Aber aufpassen der Eingang sieht aus wie in einen Garten, Stufen gehen hoch. Auf alle Fälle ein Besuch wert

Very relaxing place were you can have an affordable snack and listen to some music while appreciating the view, the nature and the arts and crafts.
It's right next to the beautiful Villa Sassetti trail that goes right up to the Moorish Castle.
Highly recommended and the employees are very welcoming and friendly :)

Il est indiqué a l'entrée "bienvenue au paradis". Et bien c'est vrai ! Si comme nous vous faites la montée et la descente à pied pour visiter Pena, faites une halte ici. Question prix c'est tout simplement imbattable. Vous pouvez manger pour moins de 10 euros par personne. Style bohème et détendu. Très agréable. Si vous êtes dans les environs, fuyez le centre de Sintra et venez vous ressourcer ici.

Tried to visit at 2pm on a Wednesday that Google and the restaurant itself said it was open. It had a rare consistent five stars! So, we hiked all the way up only to find the gate closed. So... that’s it. Had to find something else on the fly. What a shame.

Ambiente muito agradável emoldurado pela vista de Sintra.
Foi o último local de moradia do cineasta brasileiro Glauber Rocha.

Sérgio tiene las puertas abiertas de su hogar para recibir a gente especial como tú y yo! La mejor atención nunca antes recibida de la manera más natural y familiar que te puedes imaginar la comida fue como que te invitaran a comer en el más dulce hogar de Sintra!! Motivo para volver a Sintra es la Casa das Minas!! El bacalao se comen con pan y con aceite de oliva o no se come... Que maravilla de lugar :)

Horrible customer experience. After visiting the pena palace amd the castello, we decided to have lunch. We have ordered the local portugese specialty (maranho) and ham& cheese sandwich. The waitress told us that the maranho would take 20 min. We said that it was fine. 20 minutes later, no food, then 45 minutes later still nothing. We went to see the waitress and asked about it. She acted (faked) like she was so surprised we haven’t eaten yet and said she would see what happen in the kitchen. She came back to say that the kitchen was off and if we would like us to have the ham&cheese sandwich. We said no that we would just pay our drink and leave. She never came back until we have to go get her. There were in total 4 clients in that restaurant, including us. I do not recommend that restaurant to anybody.

Quirky mix of artist studios and cafe with incredibly cheap food. If walking down from the castle on this side of the mountain you will pass right by - stop in for great views, fun staff and easy food. There's even art to buy and a piano to play, if so inclined!

Очень удачно расположенное кафе. В том смысле, что как раз в конце тропы от замков Пена и мавров в Синтру. Красивые интерьеры. Столики расположены не в одном помещении, а в разных уютных уголках в окружении зелени и цветов. Кухня домашнего типа, но с упором на блюда вида сэндвичей. Даже названый в меню "стэйком" кусок мяса в итоге тот же сэндвич с мясом. Только два рыбных блюда именно рыба, без двух кусочков булочки над и под.
Но все вкусно весьма и весьма.
И, повторюсь, атмосфера просто замечательная. Красивый вид сверху на Синтру. Приветливый персонал. Чувствуется, что гостям здесь рады искренне. Эпизод: уже уйдя от кафе на приличное расстояние вниз по улице, увидели обгоняющую нас на всех парах женщину из персонала: кто-то из посетителей забыл телефон.
Обобщая: от посещения заведения остались самые приятные ощущения. Как гастрономические, так и эстетические. Не сомневаясь порекомендовал бы посетить.

This is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. The prices are so reasonable, I offered to pay more. The only complaint I have is that the stunning view distracted from the amazing taste of the food. Haha! Just kidding but seriously best place ever. I will be back.

Where you get a hearty lunch of Portugese pork rolls with salad and crips for €3!!
It has an amazing view overlooking the Sintra palace among a beautiful garden!
We had the lunch, soft drink, dessert and tea and still rounded up to €7 per person!

Nesta casa viveu seus derradeiros dias um dos maiores cineastas do século XX, Glauber Rocha. Foi o fundador do movimento Cinema Novo e alcançou a glória de ser o único brasileiro a ganhar o prêmio de melhor diretor em Cannes. Influenciou gerações de cineastas, como Martin Scorcese que abertamente declarou que "Gangues de Nova Iorque" era inspirado em "O dragão da maldade contra o santo guerreiro". Obrigado Sergio Vinhas por nos receber tão amavelmente e nos permitir visitar a casa. Curioso é que minha maior expectativa em Sintra era encontrar e ver com meus olhos essa casa.

Hermoso lugar de Sintra. Una casa museo y restaurante con comida simple a muy buen precio y una hermosa vista de la ciudad. Muy bien atendidos. Lo más original es sentarse a comer dentro de la casa, o en las terrazas, como si fuera nuestra casa, pero haciendo un viaje en el tiempo de unos 100 años. El jardín con estatuas y fuentes, vegetación que alberga pajaritos de varias especies.

El mejor sitio que hay a 100 km a la redonda, sin exagerar. La comida es casera y de muy buena calidad con una gran presentación, la atención es inmejorable y las vistas son muy buenas. Nos sentamos en la terraza y se escucha una música ambiental que no había visto en otro sitio, además con las vistas que hay es maravilloso. La atención es impecable y los precios me parecen hasta bajos. 10/10.

La moltitudine di decori e arte contribuiscono a creare un ambiente gioioso, stimolante ed estremamente rilassante. Personale gentilissimo ed accogliente. Rapporto qualità prezzo ottima. Vivamente consigliato a chi vuole visitare un posto fuori dal comune.

Casa das Minas es un lugar de ensueño. Su decoración va acorde a su localización, al inicio del sendero a pie para llegar hasta El Palacio da Pena y el Castillo de los Moros. Su jardín es como un cuento de hadas, con mesas delicadas de madera y metal, fuentes que llenan el aire con el sonido del agua y música del estilo celta para amenizar todavía más el sitio.
La carta ofrece comida variada y con una relación calidad-precio fabulosa.
Quiero destacar el sándwich de atún como el gran descubrimiento del día, es, sencillamente, excelente. Y por tan sólo 3€.
El trato con el cliente es cercano y muy amable.
Recomiendo encarecidamente este local. Además, es una escuela de arte que tiene una exposición permanente de sus alumnos. Por lo tanto, vale la pena incluso para dar una vuelta por dentro.

Luogo ameno e incantevole, ove si abbracciano sapientemente quieti momenti e panorami senza eguali, estro nella scelta degli arredi e vegetazione a perdita d’occhio, delicate musiche di sottofondo e allegri zampilli di giochi d’acqua, ma soprattutto cordialità di chi ti fa sentire gradito ospite e passione per la buona cucina, davvero ottima! Entrar en la Casa das Minas...es como un viaje al mundo de las hadas...mágico, en pleno relax, alejado del bullicio y unas vistas fantásticas que...en ese entorno distinto y especial....te sientes en calma... sosiego.
Es una comida casera sencillamente exquisita...sus zumos naturales
y unas tartas también caseras únicas...especiales...
La atención es muy atenta y amable!!
Mi estancia en Sintra, sin duda la ha hecho especial el haber encontrado mis hijos y Yo este rincón mágico.
Volver a Sintra, sin duda ir a Casa das Minas.

A really nice place to eat in Sintra!! :) After a long walk in the Parque da Pena, the casa das minas is the perfect place to have lunch. We took fresh juice and lemonade with a delicious vegetable pie and a ham and cheese sandwich...we paid 9€ for two people. The garden is really lovely and the owner is extremely kind and welcoming. We really recommend this quiet and beautiful place!

So nice after a trip to the hill, Pena and Mouros. This is so cozy. Very weelcoming staff and delicious sandwitches. A nice place to have a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Love it.

È davvero un angolo di paradiso. Lo si incontra scendendo dal Palacio da Pena con il percorso trekking, ed eccolo: affranti, esausti abbiamo trovato un paradiso! Un giardino con tavolini di un gusto squisito immersi nella natura, un cibo divino a basso prezzo, sicuramente fatto in casa... insomma, guardate le foto e andatevi! Non perdetevelo!!!!

A cute little place to stop by on your way down from the Pena palace. Their traditional sandwiches were amazing and when you add a freshly squeezed orange juice you have got a winning combo. Added bonus - a great view.

I never planned to go there, just came across their sign after visiting the castle.
The owners were incredibly friendly and fast. We ordered a few things off their short menu and everything tasted fresh and nice. I also tried a weird Portuguese specialty - a goats' stomach filled with rice and meat. Delicious!
This place is a little treasure for those tourists that use their feet instead of the bus :)

Its above all the trouble of sintra with a great view on the national palace. as for the food, amazing. They have good home made sandwiches and the burning chorizo is a must have! A must visit to snack in sintra!

Wonderful cafe in an amazing location, very close by the Quinta da Regaleira and the Sintra National Palace. Food is simple and tasty, prices are very very reasonable, and the owner is great. A perfect place to get away from crowds and have a drink/snack in a calm setting with a beautiful view. (Maybe don't go if you are in a rush, part of the appeal is that it's a small, quiet, and laid-back place!)

My husband and I and our two year old son accidentally came across this place. It is in a breathtaking location and the hosts were absolutely the most warm and welcoming people you would ever meet. The food is simple but honest. Sergio is an artist and it is apparent in the decor both in and out. He likes to repurpose things and give them new life. The term shabby chic comes to mind. Don't tell too many people about the place after you go because it would ruin the ambience! Nice spot to sit, enjoy a beer and Chorizo and watch the light change across the town! Very lovely place and people!

Simply a beautiful little lost place in the outskirts of Sintra with a great view over the city. The prices are really forgiving given how close it is from the centre. The atmosphere is really magical. Worth a visit.

View is great but only one person waiting tables who was too busy to take our order. Took 95 minutes from ordering to receiving our food which was just a slice of pork in a stale bun...
Were ignored before getting our food and didn’t get more drinks (even after asking) for 70 minutes.
Not a great idea after trekking up the mountain side.

Ein wirklich toller Ort um nach den anstrengenden Touristen-Massen ein wenig Ruhe zu finden. Man hat eine wunderbare Aussicht. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war lecker, frisch und preiswert. Weiter so... :)
Und eins noch, im Inneren des Lokals sind Lampen die der Besitzer selbst gebaut hat, sehr künstlerisch und abstrakt, hat mir sehr gut gefallen. (Man muss ein wenig genauer hin sehen).

НЕ ВКУСНО!!!!!! Локация - отличная и поэтому, ставлю 2 бала из 5. В противном случае поставил бы 1. Почему так? Во-первых- ужасно долго обслуживают. Во-вторых, салат, который нам принесли- это 150 грамм не первой свежести листьев салата, старой , не совсем свежей капусты, очень очень тонко нарезанные 3 кусочка помидора. Колбаса - это ужасно жёсткая и не вкусная , как будто на рынке в Житомире куплена, подаётся со спиртом, который поджигают и это ужасно НЕ ВКУСНО. Рыба так же- не вкусно и не первой свежести. Кофе странный. Единственное, что вкусно - это зерна нута и вареные яйца. Не рекомендую смотреть на высокий рейтинг. Здесь НЕ ВКУСНО. Но если хочется поесть такой себе еды в тишине и спокойствии, тогда Вам сюда.

Great place for a lunch. Nice light toast sandwich. The buns sandwich are a little heavier but still very tasty. Would recommend coming for a lunch give the time. Dont for get to try the Ginja or lemonade. They are very fresh. Thank you for a great meal.

Service chaleureux et personnalisé dans un restaurant à ambiance très détendue. Les terrasses à moitié couvertes de larges parasols offrent des vues dégagées de la région dès le début/fin de la randonnée vers le chateau des Maures ou le palais de Pena. On a commandé un litre de bière et une saucisse chorizo grillée pour partager. Les plats sont traditionnels, de bonne qualité et à très bon prix. Un pianiste joue parfois des morceaux dans une des pièces à l'intérieur.

We were so happy to have happened upon this little gem on our way down from Peña. The host was so friendly. The garden setting around the house was so quaint and welcoming. Our choice to have the house speciality of Maranho was well worth the wait. Flavorful is an understatement!!! Order a perfect jug of sangria, sit back and enjoy all of the little things hidden in the garden.

Vor meinem Aufstieg auf die Burg dort eingekehrt. Man kann sehr schön draussen sitzen, aber innen ist es auch gemütlich. Das Essen ist sehr empfehlenswert und die Lokation ist besonders schön.

Tutto molto buono e a prezzi ragionevoli, per non dimenticare il personale sempre gentile e disponibile. Un'ottima idea è stata sicuramente ordinare e condividere le diverse proposte del menù, soprattutto i dolci (la torta al cioccolato fa capire perché il posto si chiama "paradiso").

Get ready to hike up a steep hill to get to this picturesque cafe. The view is beautiful and the atmosphere is very tranquil. The tuna sandwich was delicious but I can’t say I can recommend the boiled codfish. I’m sure it’s an acquired taste, but the codfish was extremely salty and bland at the same time... it was an interesting cultural experience.

Food is 10/10 but the men's toilets were very aswell as the toilet not having a light it also didn't have a lock. A towel was being used for drying which is unhygienic but overall very good would recommend

Amazing little restaurant, perfect for a lunch or a quick snack. Food was delicious, as well as Sangria. The owners are extremely nice and polite, and the house is soooo cute. Worth visiting even if you are not that hungry, it is like a small museum.

THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM. We went here after hiking down from the castles. Host is a beautiful soul, and the food is good and cheap (compared to the main village). Sangria was delicious. The salted pork, portuguese tuna sandwich, chorizo, and vegetable pie was super tasty. Felt like we were eating in a portuguese home that had a great view of sintra. Would recommend to anyone coming to sintra

Amazing experience I had. People here are utterly nice. They have traditional Portuguese cuisine which are incredible. Various homemade dessert to choose from. All in reasonable price. The apple pie that I ordered is not necessarily my taste, but still satisfying. Coffee can be improved tho. It’s slightly away from the popular area; its entrance is on the side of a hike trail, not so easy to find. But it is definitely better than most of the touristic places. Also, there garden/balcony is wonderful.

Relaxing and refreshing. I'm one of those who's also sorry I didn't discover this earlier in my visit. Stopped in on the way down from Vila Sasetti trail. Had a delicious and filling vegetable quiche. Desserts were good according to my dining partners.

Ignore the tuk-tuks and packed buses and enjoy the hiking trail from Sintra to the moorish castle. Casa das Minas is at the start of the trail. It offers a simple menu including delicious pork sandwiches (the proprietor's grandmother's recipe), toasted sandwiches, coffee, wine etc . A very nice, inexpensive place to stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the views.
