In one word: amazing!!! Very good food and very friendly service. Good and trendy atmosphere. Perfect wine with the very fine food. A young new chef with lots of potential. Star worthy!!

When you're walking down the driveway, a certain athmosphere is already being created. You have a lovely view of the city centre before going down the stairs. The restaurant is connected to a hotel and you can have a drink in the bar before descending. We had the 9-course tasting menu and were okay to be surprised. So you don't know what's coming and every dish is explained when it arrives at the table. There was a huge amount of detail and deepness in every dish and we liked every single course. First time ever to have a spicy dessert with pop rocks, but hey: it worked! Service was impeccable and attentive. Only 3 other tables were taken care of, so they had plenty of time for each and every one of us. Everything went super smooth and I think we only spent about 2 hours at the table. In short: great culinairy experience for a fair price!

Probably a British or American cook trying to be fancy! Tastes are mixed in a very odd way, not always savoury, with one overtaking the other, making it a useless pairing. Truffle oil in parsnip purée doesn’t make sense: you only feel truffle; neither does foie gras and sardine: you won’t taste the foie gras. Most definitely not Portuguese refined cuisine. The place is not as luxury as it seems. It was cold in the restaurant, and there was a small temporary heater. We were told to go there because of the view. But in winter you are in a cellar! Also, there are so many better views in Lisbon, I don’t think this one is particularly amazing. The waiters were lovely and helped us pair wines. Although the maitre d wasn’t dressed as you would expect in this kind of place. Last joke: We were told there was a waiting list as the restaurant was full all week. We arrived at 8, there were two other tables being served, and that was all until 10:30! Ridiculous marketing technique? Who knows?

Great little restaurant servering unique and creative dishes in a casual atmosphere. The menu changes quite often, on our visit most of the dishes were fantastic but they were all of a high standard.

Definitely a hidden gem in Lisbon! Fantastic food for a reasonable price. 7 or 8 dishes in a row, you can’t choose food and it changes every day: hence super fresh ingredients. Dishes are sophisticated but not fancy. I would give 3 stars to the service which needs a bit more training, but nothing to prevent one from visiting this marvellous restaurant

Just one star. This is very expensive and the food is not good. The quantity was really small (I was starving right after) and it was way too salty. Waiters are not friendly. Very long wait during courses (3h30 for the whole dinner).

Menu degustacion que recorre sabores tipicamente portugueses, pero con algunos platos poco trabajados o incluso con cocción desacertada. This is one of the best restaurants you will find in Lisbon. First, it is located in an amazing hotel with a great view outside (the restaurant itself is in a cave). You can get there early to have a drink outside enjoying the views. The restaurant is small but intimate, and the music is very good. We were served by Thiago and Barbara and they were outstanding: funny, helpful and attentive. They speak really good english as well! The food is the highlight. It is a surprise menu, with very creative dishes made of very fresh ingredients. It just gets better throughout the tasting. The chef came in person to explain the dish that was the best surprise for us: a tomato salad, made of 8 different tomatoes, with tomato water and seasoning. So simple and absolutely amazing. We had the wine pairing as well. All the wines are portuguese and biological, and they perfectly match the dishes. The highlight of the wine pairing is the sparkling wine. We certainly recommend this place and we will definitively be back. Congrants to the chef and the team and a big thank you for the amazing experience.

Of all my experiences in Portugal this was by far my favorite. The food is absolutely amazing - creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious with a depth of complexity and a level of unexpectedness for the palate, that you are blown away! The whole experience is almost indescribable. Some of the most exquisite food I've had ... ever. The waitstaff is superior. They describe each dish with the utmost of detail. In addition, their knowledge of wine is beyond sommelier. In addition, do not be fooled to think the gourmet nature of the cuisine will leave you hungry by the close of the night. Quite the contrary, you will be left feeling satisfied and comfortably full. In the land of exploration; explore this place, it will be worth it; a culinary journey awaits you....Vasco de Gama style!

One of the loveliest dinners in recent memory! Each course was a wonderful surprise, the chef checked on us several times. Michelin quality, good wine list at reasonable price. Made perfect with a sunset pre-dinner drink on the roof overlooking Lisbon. I highly recommend!

Repas somptueux, avec un bon rapport qualité prix pour un repas composé de 9 plats ( 3 amuses bouches, 2 entrées, 2 plats, 2 desserts) parfait sauf pour les desserts qui me plaisait un peu moins. Un travail incroyable et des saveurs équilibrés et surprenant à la fois. Le cadre est très intimiste et cozy. Nous avons été parfaitement servi avec des serveurs pas trop opressants et très agréables Je recommande ! Et j'y retournerais avec plaisir !!

Amazing! Michelin Star quality at a reasonable price. I’ve been to high end restaurants all over the world and Cave 23 stands out on both food and service. The opening “moment” was nothing short of spectacular - a fig and chestnut purée inside a crisp crust was a burst of flavor to start the tasting menu. Mid way through the crispy quail legs and rare quail breast shined and towards the end the orange dark chocolate dessert was divine. A blend of European and Asian flavors for food was well complimented by the amazing natural wine pairing. Absolutely loved the low production white wine and the pairings with food. Truly stunning meal. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place the chef is very talented and the waiter gave top notch service. The food was amazing and only tasting menus are available. Every dish is a surprise with helpful explanations given when being served. Worth the wine pairing as well, which had a total of 7 glasses.

Foi a segunda vez que tive o prazer de jantar neste belo refúgio Lisboeta. O menu de degustação é fantástico e o atendimento muito eficiente. A quinta estrela está em falta pois considero injustificável o preço praticado dos vinhos...incluindo o serviço “a copo”! Considero que para engrandecer a experiência deveriam rever os preços e o serviço.

First let me share that the experience was wonderful. I dined solo and was thoroughly entertained by the food tasting with wine pairing. The food was beautifully presented and the taste was just as good! I’d say my favorite dish but they were all very unique and delicious. The wine pairing was great as well, however, as much as I like wine I’m not an expert so maybe the value was lost on me (for the price) Overall 5*! Would absolutely go back! Thanks guys! This meal was the highlight of my trip to Lisbon!

Iniziamo dal dire che si tratta di un ristorante molto giovane, dove lo chef ha fatto esperienza in Thailandia e Danimarca, e il sous chef si è fatto le ossa all’Osteria Francescana di Massimo Bottura. Il menù degustazione da 9 portate è un mix tra tipicità portoghesi e sapori asiatici. Certo, bisogna adattarsi a sapori differenti dal solito come mele verdi e caffè con le rape rosse, seppie in salsa vietnamita, tapioca, castagne e fichi... do le 5 stelle, nonostante qualche sbavatura come qualche piatto forse un po’ troppo freddo, perché apprezzo tantissimo chi mescola culture così diverse e propone ingredienti non scontati: il crumble al cioccolato con arancia bruciata e cardamomo meriterebbe da solo l’olimpo dei dolci.

Notre dîner au restaurant Cave 23 est venu couronner de façon exceptionnelle et inattendue notre séjour au Torel palace à Lisbonne. Le jeune chef Henrique (j’espère ne pas écorcher son prénom) à la tête d’une équipe qui n’a pas 25 ans, d’une créativité hors du commun, nous a fait découvrir des plats aux saveurs originales et délicieuses. Le vin et le porto qui l’ont accompagné, conseillés par Thomas le sommelier, étaient parfaits. Nous avons été transportés et comblés par ce moment d’une qualité inoubliable. Un bel avenir est promis à cette sympathique équipe.

Wonderful place. Food is incredibly well presented and flavours mix together beautifully. The views before you go down into the restaurant are beautiful too. Staff are very attentive.

Pela primeira vez tive uma experiência gastronómica que valeu mesmo apena, desde o serviço, localização, comida, espaço, tudo inacreditável e extremamente bem conseguido. Todos os pratos são explicados ao detalhe, e o conceito de toda a experiência é brilhante. Os vinhos que acompanham os pratos combinam na perfeição, as porções são as certas - não é um daqueles restaurantes dos quais saímos sempre com fome. O atendimento não podia ser melhor, o empregado que nos atendeu foi de uma simpatia que não se encontra regularmente, sempre prestável, rápido e eficaz. Recomendo a 100% e vou voltar sem dúvida! Toda a equipa está de parabéns.

Excellent service, very professional and nice staff. The food is a fantastic discovery journey through flavours that reveal themselves at every byte of the 9 dish dinner menu. Momo was a very pleasant surprise to start and than followed the brioche that made it rise steps above, the fish keep the rising path and on the gran finale the second dessert. Wine selected was a very good surprise and discovery to go along the food the white "Pato Rebel' soft and aromatic with a champagne subtle flavour.

I rarely write restaurant reviews but I had such an incredible experience I had to this time. The food, service, and wine pairing (definitely get the pairing) were incredible. This is one of the best restaurants I've been to and I wouldn't be surprised if they get a Michelin star soon. Definitely highly recommend this Lisbon restaurant!

Excelente este pequeño restaurante del exquisito hotel Torel Palace. El menú es sorpresa y espectacular, no me pudo gustar más. Todos los platos dignos de un gran chef como Bernardo Agrela y con una calidad impresionante, a un precio bastante razonable. El restaurante se encuentra en la cava del hotel, de ahí su nombre, y es un lujazo cenar rodeados de grandes vinos. El servicio impecable.

Cave 23 es el Restaurant de l’hotel Torel Palace. Esta situat en una cava a la que s’entra des del jardí de l’hotel i des d’on es pot veure una de les millors vistes de Lisboa. El local és perfecte tant per la decoració com per l’ambient i si el que busques es un lloc normal no hi vagis, doncs aquí has d’estar preparat per disfrutar d’una experiència gastronòmica i vinícola espectacular a un preu també espectacular. El menú de degustació, que el recomano amb maridatge del Cave 23, és tot un seguit de platets, cadascun més espectacular que l’anterior tant en presentació, com en elaboració, fantasia i sabors. Els vins escollits per a cada plat, son espectaculars i resulten un plaer pels sentits tastar-los. El servei molt amable, sense ser pesats i amb una explicació detallada de cada plat i de cada vi. En resum que si vols un sopar inoblidable, no deixis de visitar el Cave 23.

Face às avaliações que vi antes de decidir ir admito ter tido azar, o que é muito provável pois a carta apesar de ser um menu degustação não é sempre a mesma. O restaurante e o serviço são muito bons a cozinha teve apontamentos muito bons próximo dos melhores restaurantes gourmet onde fui mas o conjunto dos pratos revela algumas fragilidades, pois caraterizam-se por um domínio de molhos muito fortes que no conjunto provocaram uma sensação anormal de enfartamento e alguma indisposição aos 2 comensais muito pouco usual neste tipo de cozinha gourmet. Digamos em linguagem mais simples aposta pouco nos sabores naturais dos alimentos e "inventa" demais. O serviço e o ambiente são de muito bom nível.

Lovely atmosphere that perfectly straddles the line between relaxed and high end. The food was absolutely delicious, every course was packed with little surprises and so much flavour. It's a full tasting menu, so be prepared to make a night out of it and enjoy a leisurely dinner: don't go if you want to rush off somewhere quickly. Great wine list, too.

Ia com demasiada expectativa e a coisa não correu bem! Não achei nada de especial em comparação com outros restaurantes do género!! Fizeram um menu especial que acompanhava com cocktails que não eram grande coisa e até estragavam o sabor da comida!!
