Enjoyed a delightful lunch and loved everything about the menu. Really would recommend Taverna Moderns to anyone visiting Lisbon. Staff were lovely too and a special mention to the French waitress who we found really helpful and a pleasure to talk to...loved it!!

Staff was very friendly and the service was quick. We were sitting outside and some tiny birds were trying to get a close look at the food, but I can't blame them because it was delicious. We had 3 tapas and they were all a treat. Highly recommend.

Sitio acogedor, con una cocina sabrosa y de calidad, precio algo por encima de la media, pero merece la pena, si volvemos a Lisboa repetiremos. Tataki de atún espectacular, y arroz negro con chocos... mousse de chocolate con fresas.

Teilen macht Spaß! Tolles Konzept: jedes bestellte Gericht wird nacheinander serviert und in die Mitte des Tisches zum Teilen für alle gestellt! Und obwohl wir auch Vegetarier dabei hatten, waren am Ende alle satt! Hier kommen wir sicher mal wieder hin, wenn es uns nach Lissabon verschlägt...

Great interior and supernice staff. The menu is mainly fish, so if you are into that, try it out. The dishes themselves are very... minimalistic. So if it says "duck" it is duck what you get. Great taste but nothing overly fancy.
The slow cooked pork was amazing and
the tiramisu was the best I ever had.

très bien placé ce restaurant est à tester! surtout les saint jacques avec glace de chèvre! les portions ne sont pas grandes mais tout est très bon! et les prix sont corrects pour la qualité des aliments. le riz noir est excellent. le service était sans prétention et efficace. la décoration à l'intérieur vaut le détour!

Great atmosphere. Nice place to enjoy a meal and have a conversation. Food is delicious but in small portions. Staff is very friendly. Won't rate higher because somewhere in between the meal and dessert we we're left unattended for quite a while

El chorizo con harina típico está muy bueno. Hay que añadir que ponen una tapa de tomate al pedir la bebida. El local está muy bonito decorado. Se encuentra al lado de la casa Dos Bicos, en una plaza con vistas al puerto y tienen terraza al sol.

It’s a surprise of the trip. The service was Amazing and the atmosphere, especially at dinner is extremely chill. A very cool place. I love the fish with spicy prawns, poached egg and crispy potatoes slices. Very much recommended. But please remember to ask for less salt. Could be truly salty sometimes loll. Overall it is definitely an excellent choice.

Het eten is van goede kwaliteit en de service ook. Moderne gerechten, mooi opgemaakt en heerlijk van smaak. De cocktail met passievrucht was een tip van de gastheer en was fantastisch. Reserveren is misschien wel handig, wij konden met 2 personen nog maar net een tafel bemachtigen.

I didn't have high expectations coming here. It was near the waterfront, sidewalk tables, I was expecting tourist food.

Jolie déco et possibilité de manger en terrasse.
C'est plutôt bon mais l'addition est excessive pour ce qu'il y a dans l'assiette (exception faite pour les coquilles Saint-Jacques et la glace au chèvre que nous avons adoré).

Gin-Liebhaber haben hier die Auswahl aus über 100 Gin-Sorten. Die Barkeeper bringen gerne eine kleine Auswahl an Empfehlungen an den Tisch und erklären sehr geduldig, welche Gins am besten zum eigenen Geschmack passen. Auch die Darreichung der Gin Tonics war immer super, so dass man die Begeisterung für den Job deutlich spüren konnte. Auch die anderen Servicekräfte wussten mit Freundlichkeit und Humor zu punkten. Das Essen (wir hatten mehrere Fischgerichte) war ebenfalls erstklassig, allerdings auch nicht ganz billig.

Espaço muito bem decorado é confortável , com um excelente requinte "vintage" , ambiente vistoso , bem frequentado! ... em relação a comida, a qualidade é de deixar água na boca, tudo muito bem organizado e saboroso , destacando o "Bife da Vazia á Portuguesa" e o "Rissoto Negro de Camarão acompanhado com espargos " , o bar é um dos pontos fortes neste restaurante tendo em conta que é um bar típico de Gins , na minha opnião o melhor bar de Gins de Lisboa , com uma excelente oferta e também bom preço fase a qualidade , agradecer e mencionar o excelente prestígio do colaborador Iduino Francisco ,

Very cool place with modern mediterranian food and a sensational Gin selection. The cook is a chef, but the bartender is a master. The concept of the menu is to share EACH dish, so if you order two dishes, you will first get one dish and then the other. You don't get the two dishes at the same time. Just let the team guide you through your stay and relax- all will be fine once you get to the gin part.

¡Gran decepción! El local está muy bien, así como el personal, pero la comida no está a la altura. Igual fueron los platos que elegimos, pero fueron tres -uno por comensal- y ninguno brillaba, siendo que los precios de los mismos eran elevados. La recomendación del vino blanco para acompañar la cena, por contra, fue muy acertada.

Definitely a lovely spot to have dinner in Lisboa.
We had a Xmas dinner for my company employees and they quite liked the place, in the overall.
Staff was absolutely lovely and amazing - their idea of having a frame with the name of the one responsible for the reservation just felt incredible, and mostly because they gave me Robert Smith, one of my first crushes back in the 80s (I was a weird kid, don't judge me) -, and very VERY approachable, who seemed really happy to work there, which is a plus to me.
Going to what "matters" the most: Food.
It was very pleasant for me, the only veggie who had a different menu than my coworkers, who were not so impressed by theirs: ones complained that it was salty or too raw or overcooked... (Spaniards complain a lot when it comes to food that is not theirs, anyway.) And my veggie plates were THE envy treat of the night XD
We had a chosen menu and boy, they put on soooo much food I had to go for a walk around the place to settle it down a bit!, which was a good idea since I could enjoy the artsy decor, all produced by the owner, I was told.
One thing I have to agree: the wines were nothing remarkable, but that happened in the other restaurants we've been too, so maybe yeah, Spanish wines are just better than Portuguese ones, or we had NO LUCK at all.
I would definitely recommend the place :)

Buen sitio para comer unas tapas, un poco lentos a la hora de servir. Entramos a las 8 PM salimos a las 11.15 PM y con un postre a compartir.
Una cosa no quita la otra, los platos muy buenos y tuvieron detalles con los vegetariabos incluso con un compañero al que no le gustaba el pescado.

Já era tarde para almoçar, não conhecíamos o restaurante, entrámos, gostámos logo do espaço. Sentimo-nos bem, confortáveis, atendimento e serviço muito bom e depois a comida! Escolhemos várias coisas e tudo era excelente. Dissemos que o chef estava de parabéns... A chef Marisa presenteou-nos com um maravilhoso sorriso e ainda ofereceu uma sobremesa deliciosa à Matilde. Afinal, partilhar é um belíssimo conceito!

O cardápio é variado e de muito boa apresentação e sabor.
Agora a variedade de Gins que esse lugar tem, é surpreendente.

El concepto es de pequeñas tapas para compartir y probar un poco de todo, te aconsejan elegir 3 ó 4 según el hambre que tengas. Fuimos 2 y elegimos 4, todo muy bueno y bien elaborado, si bien es cierto que por cantidad/precio es un poco caro. También hay opciones para elegir platos principales más contundentes. El local es muy agradable y el personal muy atento y servicial, siempre dispuesto a resolver tus dudas. Recomiendo dejarse caer por aquí y conocerlo.

간이 쎄지않아 좋았고 다양한 음식 종류를 맛 볼 수 있었어요 ! 리스본에서 간 레스토랑 중 만족스러웠습니다! 메뉴에 그림이 없어 당황했지만 영어 메뉴판과 적당히 사진보고 골랐어요:) 문어 갈리시안 메뉴는 특히 문어가 야들야들하니 맛있었어요!
타파스식으로 나와서 dish별로 양은 적으니 주의하시길.. ㅎㅎ 여자 2명이서 3개 dish 시키니 배불렀어요

Such a great restaurant. Food is tapas style but not tiny little tapa little dishes. Great portions and food is so good! We had 4 different dishes and they were all amazing. The sesame tuna/salmon sashimi, the scallop, the choco black rice cuttlefish and the buffala/ guacamole.... all tasted divine. The tuna just kinda melted in your mouth and the buffala was super creamy and made us all felt guilty for eating it. Place did not fill up until about 10:00pm, as usual for Lisbon, but it was fully booked. We will definitely come back here again, perhaps tomorrow.

Nice spot if you are a gin fan! They have a ton of them! They have a policy of sharing and offer a variety of tapas. Tried some octopus bites, fried beans and croquettes and were all quite good. Lovely interior, although we did not get a spot inside.

Lugar excepcional! Tienen una decoración que atrapa, super original y basada en el arte urbano. La carta está basada en comida española muy bien hecha (soy española y se de lo que hablo ;)) y el otro punto a destacar es el servicio!! Son todos super atentos y amables. Si vuelvo a Lisboa sin duda pasare a tomar alguno de sus cocktails o a probar de nuevo su carta! 100% recomendable

I am still sitting at the terrace of the Taverna Moderna, with a fresh glass of gin tonic.
I wish I had found this place at the beginning of my stay! People are very nice, menus are available in several languages. The concept is tapas based. The lines I chose were just amazing, extremely tasty. You have to try the scallops served on fresh spinnac leaves with a ball of goat cheese ice cream. Amazing!
For gin tonics lovers, they have a very tempting various list of versions. I had to taste 2!
Nice bonus, if the sun is too strong, they have panama's hat available to keep you safe from isolation.
Go there you will not be disappointed.

Excellent restaurant. It is a must if you visit Lisbon. The staff is very service oriented and is good to recommend dishes or wine. The food is so great. It is tasteful and served perfectly.

Ci siamo entrati per caso (per intuito, sbirciando i piatti degli avventori) e poi ci siamo tornati per tre sere su tre: buon rapporto qualità-prezzo, bella l'idea di base di condividere la portata in due, discreta la lista dei vini, buono il servizio... ma soprattutto non hanno sbagliato un piatto: menu essenziale, ma cucina curata, con ottimi prodotti, combinazioni sorprendenti, innovazione ragionata e sempre di buon gusto. Nos atenderam mesmo sem reserva nesse disputado restaurante que parece estar na moda entre os estrangeiros que visitam Alfama. É daqueles restaurantes que quer ser descolado e consegue nos pratos disponíveis no pequeno menu. Escolhemos o risoto, bacalhau e queijo burrata italiano e pareciam bem preparados, com carinho e atenção. Para o público que quer parecer descolado é uma ótima opção. Sugerem que se divida os pratos e isso é bom. Cerveja estrela espanhola gelada e vinho tinto na temperatura ambiente único senão. Preço compatível com o local. Na porta, aqueles vendedores de marijuana fazem o contraste.

We ordered a few starters; grilled octopus, grilled pork, cod fish fritters and the mozzarella cheese with avocado and tomato. Small portions and all right in terms of the taste. The food was good, especially the rice with mushrooms and the octopus as well BUT there was a lot of waiting time in between the dishes being served. It serves well the purpose of sharing a plate between each other as they say, but by the time you get the last plate you are already tired and full.

Sophisticated ambiance mixing a trendy cocktail bar with luxurious gin cellar and an upscale casual restaurant.
Both the bar and the cuisine show a lot of character and respect for the ingredients. Price is naturally aligned with quality: about 50-60 euro per person for cocktail + dinner. Definitely recommend

This place was soo good we found it online. And didn't make no reservation and the guy"masimo" told us to wait like 15min. We got a gin and tonic. Cause they have more then 110 kinds of gin. Witch was good. The way the food came to the dessert was on point. And Charing is the moto. .

Had a quick lunch here and they seem to rip off the tourists. Asked for a tomato salad and the waiter told me they didn't have any small servings left only large, so it would be double the price. I asked for a beer and they didn't have any Portuguese beer, only Estrella. A Spanish import?!?!
I ended up just having a beer and some croquettes, came to 8 euro. I had a 10 note, and was going to leave the 2 as a tip but when the change came back it was in 10 and 20 pieces. An attempt to make me leave the 2. Out of principle I took the whole thing.
The croquettes were dry.
Watch out for this place. My only bad meal in 2 weeks staying in Lisbon.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner in Taberna. We also fell in love with their gins at the bar. In short - what a great place! For us the hospitality of the manager made Lisbon seem like the most delicious and friendliest place ever! Highly recommended!

Nice place in main square. Lovely to sit outside in the sun. Portions are quite smal and prices are not that cheap. Service was nice but we had to wait 15 min to get the bill after asking several time.

Коротко: приятная, уютная и успокаивающая обстановка. Хороший выбор меню, очень отзывчивый и ненавязчивый персонал, готовый дать консультацию при заказе блюд, и конечно отличная готовка. В таком заведении можно незаметно и главное с удовольствием провести массу времени.

Place was nice, staff was friendly enough, but food was just ok. Everything was covered in butter or oil. I love butter/oil, but this was way overboard. I wouldn’t go back, but I also only got three things from the menu. So maybe I got the three most buttery and oiliest options.

This is a funky and modern place in the heart of Lisbon and I was nearby and in need of lunch. Sitting on your own for lunch can feel like a lonely experience at times, but not in Taberna Moderna. The staff were friendly, as were the other diners. A real pleasure for someone in a big city.
I thought that tapas was probably the right way to go. Speaking to my waiter, it was obvious that he knew his stuff, so I leaned on his experience. I ordered the warm scallops with salad and chèvre ice cream because it sounded like a combination that would work. How right I was! Every bite was perfect. To continue on the seafood theme, I chose tuna tataki with floral salad and it went perfectly with the scallops. The tuna was cooked just right, showing a talented chef. The tender Iberian pork meat with peppers and potatoes was my third choice of tapas. I knew it would just melt in the mouth. This is a classic tapas and one I often go for but it is rarely cooked as well as this.
After all of this I was at one with the world. Sitting in the modern style restaurant and looking at the world passing by was an absolute satisfaction. I felt that the only thing that could make it better was a dessert. I went for something traditional – the paezinhos de ló, a typical sponge cake from Portugal and it topped off a great meal.

Отличное место. Со своим «концептом» — food to share. Порции большие, официантка сказала, больше 3 блюд на стол лучше не заказывать. Прекрасное меню, цены и отличное обслуживание. Всем рекомендую. В окружении местных хорошо одетых людей. На фото рис с морепродуктами и чернилами каракатицы. На двоих 63€ -- даже не доели))))

Siamo stati a pranzo e a cena lo stesso giorno.
Il posto è molto bello, elegante, moderno, ma anche classico e giocoso. Sicuramente originale.
Lo staff è cordiale e professionale.
La cucina è eccellente, ho mangiato il miglior baccalà nel mio viaggio in Portogallo.
Tutte le altre portate, compresi i dessert, erano buonissime, qualità da ristorante stellato.
I prezzi sono molto bassi per la qualità che si trova, ovviamente questo è un Ristorante, non una bettola per turisti...
Prezzo medio 30€ a testa con 3 bicchieri di vino.

This restaurant is a must if you want to eat Portuguese but in a more modern way.
Prices are higher than traditional restaurant but the food is high quality and the wine is great as well.
We did not drink any gin but they have a large choice. Staff is super friendly and speaks different languages very well
This is a gourmet place that you can get at value price thanks to Lisbon prices.
Don’t hesitate to come here. I will definitely come back !

Really nice place for dinner. The food is full of flavour. The staff is superfriendly. I enjoyed the tuna with sesame seeds which was amazing. When you go to visit this place, make sure to enjoy one of the great gin tonics they offer. I would highly recommend this place when you visit Lissabon.

Good food, but the one thing i noticed not just here but all over lisbon is that they go heavy on the salt which is a bit annoying as it takes away the flavour from what you are eating, however, all the food and drinks we ordered were brilliant, and service was spot on

Sem dúvida um conceito interessante. O espaço é amplo e tem uma decoração muito interessante. A comida estava muito saborosa e bem confeccionada excepto para o prato de entrada. Os frutos estavam moles e os croquetes de choco tinham muito pouco sabor. Pedi o magret de pato e demorou uma hora a chegar. Quando perguntei disseram que é um prato demorado. a Deveriam informar logo o cliente.. O atendimento acho que é o ponto fraco. Lento e um pouco desorganizado. Na minha opinião o preço não valeu a comida nem o atendimento.

Une excellente adresse, où réserver est de mise. À notre arrivée (premier service), la salle est encore vide. Nous sommes invités à prendre notre apéro dans un coin-salon cosy avec les autres premiers arrivés. Une carte de gins et de cocktails à faire pâlir les plus blasés. Apéros à la main, nous passons à table. Service super, à l'écoute, présent mais discret, souriant et patient. Les plats sont vraiment bons; pas de niveau étoilé, mais ça peut venir. Seul de nous deux à prendre du vin, le sommelier conseille le vin approprié au met par met. Et le bon choix à tous les coups. Le coût aussi était ok. Plus cher que la moyenne à Lisbonne, mais en parfait équilibre avec la qualité. Et quand nous avons fait remarquer qu'il manquait le vin à l'addition, ça nous a été offert; la classe!

If you look for great portuguese food modern style you're at the right place. Of course there are plenty of good restaurants out there in Lisbon but this one even has its own "flair" that makes you feel somewhere between traditional and modern times. Reservation a few days in advance is necessary but it's worth it.

Atmosphere: very cosy and comfy
Gin: thanks to the great service and recommendation of different flavours within a great variety of gins, the gin&tonics were very good. The bar is quite impressive as well.
Food: especially the raw tuna slices I can highly recommend. Finish with the fried milk + ice cream
All in all a lovely evening with good drinks, good food and a very nice service. Of course all that has its price, but a rather reasonable price.
I am very willing to come back...

I was so surprise to find a bar specialized in Gin in Lisbon!
I had no clue there was so much science behind this drink. The bar tender was really nice and pacient. He introduced us to some of the gins, and explained the different preparation processes.
With so much offer, I went for the easy choice: the gin of the week! - Haswell gin, coriander seed infusion and orange twist.
