This place has limited seating & they were nice enough to sit me on a Saturday night even though I was solo. All the food was very good, I did the wine pairing which I enjoyed. Servers were friendly & attentive

Wir waren gleich an unserem ersten Abend in Lissabon bei Os Gazeteiros und haben uns gleich sehr willkommen gefühlt. Der Service war super freundlich und das Essen perfekt! 5-Gänge Menü mit sehr viel Fantasie und ausgesprochen tollen Geschmacksrichtungen. Absolute Empfehlung, auch wenn es seinen Preis hat. 2 Personen mit Flasche Weißwein 95€.

Wonderful fixed-menu restaurant on the east-ish side of Alfama. This is definitely a restaurant to try if you're looking for a low-stress, high flavor dinner. It runs a little pricey at 35€ per person, but as other reviews have mentioned this is very cheap for the quality of food that you're getting here. The wine pairing choices were excellent too, especially the white wine with the fish and the dessert wine. They let us order one wine pairing and split between two diners, which impressed me a great deal.
They change the menu about every two weeks so I won't go into too much detail with the food. Rest assured it was very tasty and they actually made blood sausage in a way that my wife enjoyed eating it. That is one of the most impressive restaurant accomplishments I've ever seen.

Amazing five course menu, tasty & fresh, good service and nice atmosphere. We were a mixed group of people (vegetarian, no pork, lactose-intolerant...) and very much appreciated the fact that they were flexible and fulfilled our special "needs". I recommend to make a reservation.

Anyone traveling to Lisbon should check out this place. They serve a thoughtfully selected tasting menu that will not fail to disappoint. Really nice "degustation menu" in a relaxed environment. The price doubles with the wine pairings, but the wines were very interesting. The place is small, so reservation definately needed.

Quantity seems to be a concern to us though other fusion food restaurants share the similar quality scarify of tasting menu. Both of us ended up 70-80% full even after finished bread. But the taste is great and deserts are fantastic ( not sweet like Portuguese style). However the main dish is using some soybeans sauce which tastes like having GSM and very salty so i ended up with drinking a lot water The Who night.

This place is fantastic! Some of the most creative cooking we have ever eaten. I think what makes a scientist different from other people is that they can think of things no one else can dream up. The same could be said of the chef here - a true food scientist!

Very nice and unsual food ! Services and atmosphere is amazing. Just negative point regarding the bill.. too expensive, moreover we don't eat meat so the restaurant proposed to change by fish that is very cool... but no fish appear on our plate... But you need to try!

Le patron est français, il est plus qu'aux petits soins avec ses clients. Il s'est plié en quatre pour s'adapter au mieux au régime alimentaire particulier. Cuisine super créative avec des associations que l'on imaginerait même pas. Je le recommande à 200% si vous êtes aux alentours d'alfama.

Vraiment une super expérience, notamment pour la découverte de vins portugais et d'ailleurs. C'est un petit endroit ce qui permet au staff de prendre le temps avec chaque table. Par contre important de réserver à l'avance.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. 6 course prefixed menu, for €35 with option of wine pairing for a little more. The staff is extremely helpful and so very attentive. The food, wow, absolutely fantastic. The menu changes based off of what’s in season and freshest. Lots of vegetable dishes, which is much appreciated after weeks of travels in Europe. I cannot recommend enough, will definitely be coming back.

Un pequeño restaurante de solo 20 personas en el barrio de Alfama con un único menú de 4 platos y 2 postres por 35€, puedes añadirle maridaje de vinos por 30€ más o desistir y pedir una copa de vino tranquilamente por unos 4€. El menú es fijo y no puedes cambiar nada, no hay carta solo el menú que en nuestra visita era todo a base de vegetales, setas y especies excepto el cuarto plato que tenia cordero. Muy bueno, diferente, original. Me encantó. Platos con productos sencillos pero con una gran tècnica. Para repetir. Genial

My wife and I arrived an hour before they opened and reserved a window table. This restaurant is a refreshing balance of gastronomic sophistication and homeliness.
The small kitchen opens directly onto the dining area and we could see the care and attention to detail taken in creating and assembling the six courses we tasted (4 savoury, and 2 sweet).
It was enjoyable not to know which dish would be next, and with the arrival each we were pleasantly surprised by the combinations of flavours. Much use is made of fresh herbs and vegetables, and a lightness of touch is employed, without being too pretentiously minimal.
The waiting staff were friendly and courteous, and I enjoyed the way they described each dish to us. I appreciated that we were left to enjoy our intimate dinner, without the endless glass top-ups and enquiries as whether we are enjoying the food mid-mouthful, as I have come to expect back home in Canada!

Va detto subito che necessita di prenotazione e che propone esclusivamente un menu degustazione di 6 portate a 35€. Adatto a palati che spaziano tra il vegetariano, carne e pesce. Presentazioni d'effetto ma a tratti poca sostanza e gusto. Cucina a vista, cameriera davvero molto brava a descrivere i piatti e ad abbinare i vini.

Menu unique non affiché de 6 services dont une gaspacho, un poisson froid et deux desserts à 35 euros. 114 euros pour deux personnes incluant un rosé quelconque en apéro et une bouteille de vin blanc . Trop cher. Pas confortable pcq climatisation ne fonctionne pas. Très décevant.

the restaurant is very small and charming. The manager is very professional. That evening there was a set menu but the kitchen they serve is very sought after; tastes and flavors. Although you do not love vegetables I liked the dishes. The very good wine list. Cooking for fine palates and not for those who are hungry. Quality and research are paid. To try.

We had a lovely night. A vegetarian version of the menu was not a problem and the accompanied wines were really good.
The dessert was one of the best we have ever had (and that means a lot!). It’s a small restaurant so better make a reservation and plan about two hours for the full menu.

In this laid-back and intimate restaurant in the old bairro of Alfama, David, a French musician-turned-chef, writes the lunch and dinner menu on the blackboard daily. The dishes here are extremely creative with complex flavor profiles and arrives to your table beautifully plated. Everything is inspired by whatever David finds from the local market that morning. There's also a small but good selection of mainly Portuguese and French wines that he'll help you pair with his creations.
Dinner consists of a 6 course tasting menu, similar to the setup found in Michelin star restaurants. The portions are small but that's only so that you can have room for all 6 courses. When your food is brought to your table, it'll be explained to you as far as the ingredients and the inspiration behind it. For Michelin quality food and presentation like this, you'd expect to pay hundreds of Euros for the whole experience.....not so here. The 6 course tasting was only 35€ !!!
For dinner, reservations are recommended since this restaurant only has about 20 seats so that you get the attention you deserve and the kitchen staff can focus on quality rather than quantity.

Die Atmosphäre des Restaurants hat uns sehr gefallen. Es ist relativ klein und dadurch sehr gemütlich! Die Einrichtung ist durchdacht mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail, man hat sich dort sofort wohl gefühlt. Der Kellner war sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns direkt höflich das Konzept des Restaurants erklärt. Man konnte den Köchen beim Zubereiten der Mahlzeiten zusehen. Das Essen war außerordentlich Gut! Wir haben in ganz Lissabon nicht nochmal so gut gegessen! Die Essenzusammenstellung war geschmacklich hervorragend. Jeder Gang Gericht war außergewöhnlich und hatte seine spezielle Note.
Die Auswahl der Weine (sowohl Portugiesische als auch internationale Weine) war auch sehr groß und man hatte die Wahl jedes Gericht von unterschiedlichen Weinen begleiten zu lassen.

Sehr schönes, beinahe unscheinbares Restaurant. Das Besondere: es gibt immer nur ein Menü. Dazu passend abgeschmeckt zu jedem Gang einen portugiesischen Wein . Auch für Lebensmittelintolerante geeignet. Personal sehr freundlich. Gemütliche Atmosphäre bedingt durch den sehr kleinen Innenraum mit nur wenigen Tischen. Nicht günstig aber in Relation zum Angebot auch nachvollziehbar

Perfect food. Creatively done. The mushroom ice cream, white port soaked cake dessert was umami and barely sweet - one of the nicest things i ate in Lisboa. Well priced tasting (they only do tastings) and a wine selection that blew me away.

Excellent wines and small plates of snacks. Catch one of the tables in the doors. It's fantastic to sit there in the sun and watch the trams passing by. The owner is very handsome, humorous and helpful if you need an idea where to go next.... Recommend

I really enjoyed the food both times we went. The menu changes but the talent of the chef for daring pairings, pleasantly surprised me both times. It's nice to have restaurants like this in Lisbon to break from conventions. The staff is super helpful. Extra star for the desserts.

Un détour gastronomique qui allie les spécialités avec une cuisine fine et goûteuse voire surprenante... Une équipe jeune et passionnée non seulement de sa cuisine mais aussi de faire partager... It was just awesome! Totally unexpected, great dining experience in Lisbon. The menu was proper, each meal perfectly followed by the next one. A constant feel of freshness and you could tell that the chefs respect the products endlessly. Out best dining experience in Portugal and totally recommended. The stuff was on spot too - sweet and polite. 10/10

The menu changes every couple of weeks and they only offer the 5 course prix fixe for €35 which is a steal for what you get. Everything was incredibly creative and fresh, very vegetable forward (at least the menu we had), with an amazing peanut butter nori dessert.
You can also do a wine pairing for €30 more and they have a huge selection of super interesting and unique natural wines. Some in the pairing weren’t my favorite but it was still fun to try them. You can also buy by the glass or bottle if you don’t wish to do the pairing.
It’s really small and you can see the chefs working the whole time which is always my favorite, definitively recommend for anyone visiting Lisbon!

A wonderful dinner, an evening that is written in our memories, like Quinta da Regaleira.

Meilleure expérience culinaire de notre séjour!
Restaurant tenu par une équipe jeune et inventive connaissant ses produits.
Menu unique composé de 5 services ( 3 salés, 2 sucrés) mettant en valeur les légumes pour 35€ (+ 30€ si accord mets-vins)
Le menu change tous les mois.
Belle et large sélection de vins natures à prix variés.

Certes l’endroit est agréable mais il faut clairement se le dire, ce restaurant est un restaurant pour végétarien (ou presque). L’addition est salée pour des légumes... Conseil aux futurs clients, pensez bien à regarder la carte avant pour vérifier qu’elle vous plaît.

Le positif: la qualité et la fraîcheur des produits travaillés.
Le négatif: la formule est imposée, j ai trouvé les 2 premiers plats (entrées) colorés mais fades. Les restes étaient jolis (aspect) mais presque ennuyeux, sans vraiment de saveur. Le désert un peut mieux.
Conclusion: à 35€ les 5 plats ternes ca fait cher.

J'y suis allé, il y a 15 jours avec mon fils. Nous sommes des passionnés de gastronomie et avons l'habitude de bons restaurants en France, surtout à Paris.
Ce qui nous a "soufflé" c'est l'incroyable constance de la qualité des 5 plats servis avec à chaque fois un verre de vin de même niveau ( ce qui est très rare dans la restauration), tout cela pour 70 € .
La jeune femme qui nous a servi était d'une gentillesse exceptionnelle, et on l'a senti passionnée car toujours très explicative.
A faire les yeux fermés.

The most friendly service, with staff who really care about their food. They were super accommodating to all our needs.
The tasting menu was perfect, tasty range of dishes, all were really fresh. I enjoyed watching the care taken by the chef to prepare them.

Tasting menu with 6 courses, overall very enjoyable!
Natural wine options available. Good pairing suggestions from our waiter.
My fav was the sea bream starter with pomegranates. There were some hazelnuts in there which I thought were not necessary and unnecessarily complicated the dish.
Second fav dish was the papaya and Parmesan. Unexpectedly excellent!
And the chocolate dessert cigar was the perfect finish.
Delicious, I would definitely return.

Petit restaurant sans prétention, une dizaine de tables, un unique menu dégustation en 6 services à 35€, et le verre de vin à 5€ en suggestion de chaque plat.
Nous a été conseillé par un des meilleurs restaurants gastronomiques de Lisbonne qui était fermé le mardi.
Ce fut une superbe expérience, des plats savoureux et inventifs, des associations de goûts novatrices, le côté graphique des assiettes, de très bons vins, ajoutez à cela un super accueil de l’équipe et vous avez le resto ou l’on a envie de revenir une fois par semaine !! Et pour ce prix là en plus, pourquoi hésiter ?

We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant, flavour rules and the six course tasting menu has to be eaten to be believed. As a strict carnivore I was concerned I wouldn't feel I'd had value for money bit by the end I would have paid twice as much. The people serving and plating have as much enthusiasm as they do talent and big shout out to Ana - incredible desserts. Definitely mixes up the standard Portuguese fare.

Place is positioning itself as modern french cousin with elements of fusion. The cook is making only dishes from a local food found on the market in the morning. So all the food you taste here is fresh, organic, made in front of you and with love.
Some tips for the visitors:
- there are opening hours for lunch and for dinner as overall in Portugal. If you want to eat, plan your time
- table for the dinner should be booked as you will not have free tables just coming at 8-9 PM
- dinner will take you 2-3 hours when you will dive into magic of tastes. It is worth trying and really recommend if you never tried the chef sets
- there is a faster option to come for lunch set as it is smaller
- dishes from lunch and dinner are usually differ so if you enjoyed once you can come for the next set in the evening :)

This place is hard to review! The service was excellent: some of the best we've had in Lisbon. But, the food was variable. The first dish was raw mackrel with beans and almond sauce; the entire dish lacked flavor (salt). Second came green vegetables and an interesting foam; the foam was seasoned, but the greens were not; mixing them helped, but didn't work that well; the greens were cooked fairly well, but some were still chew-y. Next was miso cod with sunchoke buttermilk puree. The cod was very flavorful, but was over-the-top with a bit too much salt; the puree was the opposite---almost no salt. Mixing them helped, but tasted disjointed. The celery root and mushrooms dish was tasty. Deserts were very good. The first was barley ice cream and a mousse wrapped in seeds. The wrapped mousse was an especially nice texture/flavor combination. Finally was a small chocolate cake and ganache wrapped in a crisp skin. Both were yummy! I think if the first three dishes were more carefully seasoned, this would have been one of our favorites of Lisbon!

Avoid this restaurant if you want satisfying, good wholesome food that is value for money. We found the restaurant as it was near our apartment and I can only describe the food as pretentious, unappetising, disappointing and experimental with little clear Portuguese influence. The one saving grace for us was the good service and friendly staff ....

Excellent, good value tasting menu comprising 6 dishes. Freshest of ingredients, fab flavours, textures and presentation. Friendly and courteous service. Good wine list too with some interesting organic wines such as Aphros & Quinta da Palmirinha. A must visit in Alfama if you appreciate innovative, imaginative cooking.

First night in Lisboa walked in and got last table available for the evening. Loved the creative tasting menu, very helpful staff and owner.
Wine choices are superb. Cozy seating with Kitchen in full view. The pastry chef had created a new dessert offering and they served us 3 desserts instead of 2!

We had seen the good reviews of this restaurant and it lived up to the expectation. The taster menu was a superb experience on a particularly rainy night. At 80€ for the two of us this is relatively expensive, but well worth it.

Supreme food. One of the other critics put it so well: even if you‘re not a dessert person you will be delighted with what is served here. And of course the main dishes are exceptional and creative, too. It may be pricey for Lisbon but compared to the rest of European capitals this is a good deal by any comparison. And I haven‘t started commenting on the wine choice yet...

First, know what you're coming for : a small place with an open kitchen and a single menu. It's a tasting experience. It's not crazy pricy but it's not cheap. Now that this is cleared... It is a beautiful wholesome experience.
It's about spending a nice moment in a cosy place eating very good food prepared by passionate people.
The cooks are smiling, exchanging, cooperating, just a few meters from you. The master of ceremony (yes!) Faya, guides you through the lovely creative dishes prepared by David, Anna and Raja (apologies for the mispellings on the first names). Every dish has this little idea that works. The deserts are just brilliant and I usually don't fancy desert that much. Sincerely happy for this sincere people restaurant!

We didn't know what to expect in advance, but it was above, outstanding and delicious. We really enjoyed each ingredient and course of the menue.
Great product selection, creative preparation and so tasteful. Portions are defined right as it is and that's pretty good for this dinning class, philosophy and art of cuisine. Nice, somehow romantic atmosphere, excellent wine selection, chef french influence, top cuisine, hidden champ, with great service. We really enjoyed dinning here.

EXCELLENT BISTRONOMY, plenty of charm.
The unique menu was excellent, with good organic ingredients, nice creativity and proper execution.
The chef and team are very friendly.
The local natural wines we tried were perfect and delicately light (great to find such bottles in Portugal where Parker style wines tend to become the norm).
The venue is also very nice: not too many tables, brilliant vintage decoration and good jazzy music.
Unique 6 courses menu for 35€, that's an incredible deal. Wine list is short and very reasonnably priced.
We strongly recommend the place and will certainly come back as soon as we go back to Lisbon.

We went here on our last day in Lisbon. The place is rather small. The food is prepared in the kitchen, that is just in front of the tables. Really cool to watch the cooks prepare the dinner. The food is really good, but also a little bit expensive compared to other restaurants in Lisbon. The wine selection is great.

most amazing dinner at Os Gazeteiros - 5 stars are just not enough.
6 courses of fresh cooked food:
egg, seaweed, eggplant and a seaweed broth
octopus, spinach and sorrel
gnocchi, cabbage and mushrooms with chicken broth
swordfish, pumpkin and celeriac puree
apple and corriander icecream with apple and ginger
chocolate mousse with green tea
ple the most extensive collection of natural wines in Lisbon.
Highly recommended - but you need to book as there's only 20 seats!

Un des rares restaurants de Lisbonne à servir les quelques vins natures du Portugal.
Un menu dégustation unique en 6 plats pour seulement 35€ ! Un rapport qualité-prix exceptionnel, des assiettes raffinées, de qualité et généreuses. Un service tout aussi raffiné et généreux.
Un cadre élégant pour cette dernière soirée à Lisbonne.

My wife and I were looking around the Alfama area for a restaurant that did not just serve Cod, Pork or Rice/Fries. Os Gazeteiros has a great prefixed menu which included 4 small entrees and 2 small deserts. Each had amazing flavors and we left satisfied.
Wines are extremely reasonably priced as well.
We recommend this place for those how want to be adventurous with the food! Amazing!
I would have taken pictures, but I was too busy eating the food!

Stopped for lunch but they were not open so came back for dinner. The whole experience was just perfect - food, service and ambience.
I loved all of it and will go back, maybe I'll try lunch when they are open.

Dans le quartier de l'Alfama, laissez vous surprendre par une jeune équipe très sympathique qui prépare un menu dégustation très raffiné devant vous. C'est un mélange de saveurs et d'odeurs très improbables et surprenantes mais qui sont toutes un plaisir inégalable pour notre palais. Les 6 plats s'enchaînent dans un bon timing et sont chacun un mélange de découvertes et de plaisir. Nous ne sommes plus dans la cuisine traditionnelle portugaise, mais dans un véritable maelstrom du goût qui vaut le détour.

This place is superb. Friendly, local atmosphere, great selection of wines and the food is excellent. The menu changes every day; each dish we had was fresh, healthy, original, and flavoursome. Restaurants of this calibre are rare, especially at this (affordable) price bracket. Can't recommend it enough.

everything done here is a masterpiece :: and i feel a bit funny saying this but his food somehow connects you deeper to the earth providing such beautiful ingredients, creating such an elegant and warm feeling of nourishment. a real artist. hats off! you guys have some magic going on there.

Set menu of 7 plates the night I was there. Small restaurant with not much privacy at the tables unless you are a larger group. Very friendly and well-informed staff that introduce each dish to you. They work on blending local ingredients with colour, texture, tastes so that you really want to savour what you are eating. Not very large portions so it is more of a string of tapas type of experience. Everything was delicious with a few amazing dishes. Not cheap at about 30 Euro per person without wine.

Truly outstanding. Loved the prix fix menu - the only option - but they were very flexible with providing another option for our kids. If you appreciate organic food and wine, you'll love this restaurant.

Fresh organic ingredients and innovative combinations. It's a fixed menu (4 courses) but it's soo worth it! One of the few places in Lisbon to serve great organic and natural wine. Highly recommended!
