exceptional service with friendly staff! the fish cataplana was absolutely delicious, white wine was superb too. not sure what all the complaints below are from but we came at 1pm, and there were still quite a bit of people. highly recommend!

Pushy and kind of rude owner at the front door that only talks to our lady friend and the food was not good at all and they tried to rip us off with the bill n and doubling the price and make stuff up on the bill

The food was just okay, nothing impressive. The staff was nice but the service was not great, our waitress messed up our order twice. The only reason giving two stars is because of the location and we had were givin a free bottle of wine.

Owner was extremely rude to me. I travel abroad a lot more than 10 times per year and never experience something like that.

My friend and I had just dropped off our luggage at our Airbnb and were looking for a quick place to eat as it was almost 13:30. The reason why we were rushing is because kitchens tend to close around 15:00 in Portugal and re-open around 19:00. Upon arrival, the host seated us very quickly. The host even took his time to recommend special dishes that were specific to the Algarve, including the caldeirada and grilled cod fish. Within 5 minutes, we had placed our orders; including one appetizer and two entrees. We originally thought it was going to be a great experience as we were seated outside and the weather was amazing. Not only did we wait over an hour and not get any food. We would kindly ask the waitress and waiter, but they would either look very confused or roll their eyes when asked. What made it worse was that those who were seated after us had gotten their meals before us, even though we had ordered the same meals. I am very happy that other customers were being fed but I could tell that the whole team was very unorganized and had terrible communication. With previous experience with working at different restaurants and exploring a bunch of restaurants within Portugal itself, usually the orders are given according to who had ordered first (of course, this can be affected by what food they had ordered, how their food is cooked, etc.). What made it worse was that the same host that I had previously mentioned above began yelling at the waiters and waitresses or would continuously order them to do certain tasks by screaming into the restaurant and this did not help the ambience of the entire restaurant. After our last complaint, we decided to wait another 10 minutes before leaving the restaurant shortly after because they continued to deliver meals to the other customers that had been seated at least 30 minutes after us. If it were possible, I would have given this restaurant no stars, but during my trip to Portugal, google reviews had been very helpful and I wish I had read the reviews for this restaurant before sitting down.

The star is purely for the fact that this review must be posted. Costa Algarvia probably has delicious food - we were pulled from the streets to learn all about it! We sat down and our orders were taken and that's about it for this review. After waiting for an hour, we did not get food at all. Though I understand that food service may be slow... there are MAJOR problems with this restaurant and their service. A) One hour of waiting is long. It feels even longer when you ask about your order and your server seems to not acknowledge the fact that you did not get your food. B) Waiting is even worse when the people that arrived 30,40 minutes after us who had ordered similar things were served before us. This happened twice. After all of this, we had chosen to leave and place our business with a restaurant that actually served us. Faro is a great place for seafood and Portuguese cuisine but NEVER at Costa Algarvia. Get fantastic service on the main street where the food is delicious.

Très bon restaurant... prix correct si on prend le minimum c'est à dire sans vin sans café. Le riz aux fruits de mer est excellent (servi uniquement en deux part... dose très généreuse!). Le personnel parle le portugais, le français et l'anglais... je recommande ce restaurant.

Food was relatively good, but the pushy guy trying to get people in off the street was off putting (he wasn't out there when we sat down). Did not clear our plates for an hour after food and then overcharged us for our mains on the bill. I pointed this out and they did not return with a revised bill. After 20 minutes i left half the bill under a glass on the table and walked off. Do not recommend

We waited 50 minutes for our food, everyone who came considerably later than us got their food before us, even a group of 4, and we were only two. No apologies or offer to make up for the waiting time. The grilled sardines were good, but probably cheaper somewhere else.

Der Fisch war sehr gut. Die Beilagen waren kalt und lagen unangemacht und trostlos auf dem Teller. Davor gab es leckeres Brot mit Dip, allerdings wurde dies ungefragt auf den Tisch gestellt und danach abgerechnet. Der Service war langsam. Bei der Abrechnung fiel auf, dass die Preise auf den Werbetafeln nicht eingehalten wurden.

Horrible experience. A staff member tried to convince us to eat at his restaurant in an extremely aggressive manner. When we did not, he started shouting and suggested we eat at McDonald’s. Probably better than his restaurant though.

Frankly speaking not worth going. Poor service: not even had the time to finish the tapas that arrived the main dish. We asked for beer and we had to remind the waiter. My wife took a sole and it was not fresh. I do not want to talk about the vegetable coming with it tastelessand not freshly cooked. I had chicken piripiri well you cannot get it wrong. Well the pieces of chicken were only low cost parts and the sides rice and fries + salad. The fries horrible!!!! The salad based on red cabbage with an oxidated orange color. Not fresh again!!! If u see it please run away. Not worth the 60€ we paid today!!!

A costa algarvia inicia-se em pleno Parque Natural da Costa Vicentina, é o prolongamento do litoral alentejano, entre Odeceixe e Sagres que quase não aparece. Trata-se de uma zona menos procurada pelo turismo, em que as escarpas escondem algumas praias, ficando assim por descobrir. São excelentes locais para a prática de surf.

5 stars because I cant find anything to pick on. The food was great, we were seated very quickly, our drinks and order was taken and we were given food very quickly. One thing that really stood out is that normally we have an extra chair brought over since we are a family of 5, but this time we were given another table and 2 chairs. This was very pleasant. The staff was very friendly, especially the man who seated us and the waitress who were keen to talk to my 5 year old brother who was mesmerised by the lobsters in the tank. Once things got busy the owner arrived and what I liked is that he was working. He took immediate control and told the staff what to do when and where. We were given the bill very quickly, quicker than usual. We payed 78 euro for a 5 main courses and everyone was satisfied. The portions are of good size and of good value. Decent choice of wines and beers.

I wouldnt recommend this restaurant as I got food poisoning from the salmon. Vomitted all night long and had stomach problems few days after. Not mentioning that the food was quite over priced but no value for money.

Geen aanrader. Grootste pluspunt is de ligging van het terras. Zeer beperkte menukaart. Spagetti was te eten maar niet spectaculair, veel vlees en veel vocht. De tonijnsalade was ook middelmatig.

The staff was friendly and the food was good (mixed grill). However, we got a basket of bread with dip when we sat down for which they (we discovered with paying) charged us €2,50 per person. We expected it to cost money but this feels like it was some intended trickery.

Zamówiłam mixed grill. Mięso przesolone i twarde, sałatka bez żadnego dresingu. Białe wino zostało podane ciepłe a powinno być schłodzone. Obsługa doliczyla nam przystawki, których nie zamawialiśmy - sprawdzajcie swoje rachunki.

The meat was thin and dry. The rice and meat were hard and salty. Red cabbage salad dry. The fries were missing a minute of frying because they were still raw.

Wir bestellten den Tagesteller, Teigwaren mit Fisch in einer sehr gut gewürzten Sauce, oder eher Suppe. Es war sehr lecker.

Hemos notado un cierto abandono en cuanto a la conservación de edificios singulares.

Ce 1er avril n’était visiblement pas le jour du poisson au Costa Algarvia. Après avoir été accueillis chaleureusement, mon épouse et moi-même passons commande. Je choisis un vin en fonction des cépages qui le composent. Le serveur me demande 5 minutes de patience. Il revient en m’annonçant que ce vin n’est plus disponible et en me proposant un autre vin qualifié d’excellent et primé à je ne sais quel concours… J’accepte ce vin qui sera finalement la seule bonne chose sur notre table. Quelques minutes plus tard, la table à côté de nous se voit refiler le même vin qui, en l’espace de quelques instants, s’était transformé (erronément) en vinho verde (prendrait-on les clients pour des pigeons ?) Les entrées. Melon-jambon pour mon épouse. Aucun effort de présentation. Le cuisinier n’a pas l’air très soigneux, il reste des pépins sur les morceaux de melon. Salade de crevettes pour moi. Aucun assaisonnement. Le serveur me dépose de quoi me faire une vinaigrette : une salière et un poivrière dégueulasses, une bouteille de vinaigre et une bouteille d’huile poisseuse laissant les doigts bien gras après usage. Le cuisinier n’est vraiment pas soigneux, ça se confirme : les crevettes sont décortiquées mais mal décortiquées (il reste des antennes, des pattes et des morceaux de carapace bien croustillants sous la dent). Crevettes ou melon, même combat… Soit on présente un produit brut, soit on présente un produit nettoyé mais là, c’est du grand n’importe quoi. On pense que c’est nettoyé et on se retrouve avec des choses désagréables en bouche. Verdict au goût pour les deux entrées : aucun intérêt. Les produits semblent frais mais ne sont absolument pas mis en valeur. Les plats. Salade de thon pour mon épouse. Mêmes remarques que pour la salade de crevettes. L’assiette restera presque intacte. Morue grillée pour moi. En plus de ne pas être soigneux, le chef est mauvais : aucun assaisonnement sur les légumes ou le poisson. Le tout baigne dans une marre d’huile (on avait dit grillé, non ?). Le poisson était beaucoup trop cuit et tellement dur qu’il n’était pas possible d’en extirper les arrêtes. Sec, sans goût. J’ai rapidement abdiqué. J’ai fait part de mon mécontentement et demandé le « livro de reclamaçoes » car ça commençait à faire beaucoup. Une discussion animée s’est engagée avec le responsable de salle et le propriétaire du restaurant. Ceux-ci sont venus me montrer leurs produits frais et m’ont proposé de ne pas payer mon repas et de revenir le lendemain pour un autre repas qu’ils me garantissaient excellent. J’ai apprécié leur proposition mais mon épouse et moi étions dégoûtés et ne voulions plus tenter l’expérience. Ils m’ont alors dit que le repas nous était offert, ce que j’ai refusé. Ils nous ont finalement apporté l’addition sans compter la morue. Dommage, je reste persuadé que les produits utilisés étaient bons et frais mais que le chef est paresseux et incompétent.

The service of the restaurant is just awful. Moreover, the person, who's job is to invite people to restaurant, is extremely disrespectful. Every time I pass that restaurant he approaches me to make a very rood or even sexual comment, while I'm not even looking at him or trying to engage into conversation. As it happened far more than once and unfortunately, not only to me I think the management of the restaurant should consider, whether this gentlemen is a good fit for the job he is doing.

Nicht nochmal! Auf dem ersten Blick ein sehr freundliches und gemütliches Restaurant. Der erste Kontakt (Kundenfischen) war sehr freundlich und informativ, unsere Fragen wurden alle beantwortet. Da wir drei Kinder dabei hatten, wurde direkt auf die Kindermenüs hingewiesen, alles hörte sich sehr gut an. Dann ging es zur Platzsuche. Schon hier erschien es als würden wir die Kompetenz des "Kundenfischers" (vermeintlich Manager) weit übersteigen. 4 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder an einen Tisch zu bekommen, erschien plötzlich sehr schwierig, unfreundlich und recht kurz angebunden im Gespräch wurden 3 Tische zusammengerückt. Die Menüauswahl sollten wir innerhalb von wenigen Minuten treffen, hier nach Zeit zu fragen brachte uns ein genervtes (nicht offensichtliches) Augenverdrehen ein. Selbst die Auswahl der Kindergerichte konnten wir erst nach dem 3. Kellner hervorbringen. Nachdem alle bestellt hatten, kam es erst zur Nachfrage zu Getränken. Wobei hier keine Getränkekarte gereicht wurde, die Nachfrage nach lieblichen Weinen wurde recht kurz gebunden abgefertigt, heraus kamen etwa 0.25 cl lauwarmer Portwein. Bier ok, von den bestellten Kindergetränken kamen nur 2 richtig an. Ungefragt wurden 2 Brotkörbe mit einer undefinierbaren Soße auf den Tisch gestellt. Die Kindermenüs kamen sehr schnell, die Portionen sehr groß und für die Kinder auch lecker. Fürs Auge: lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht. Die Erwachsenenmenüs dauerten die herkömmliche Zeit, allerdings zum Preis der Speisen ein Trauerbild auf dem Teller. Wo angepriesen wurde, dass eine Auswahl an Gemüse angerichtet mit Kartoffen und dem zugehörigen Steak/Fisch, serviert werden würde, gab es nur ein Blumenkohlköpfchen, ein BrokkoliKöpfchen und zwei Möhrchenstückchen...Alles lauwarm. Der Fisch an sich sehr gut im Geschmack. Das Steak, Medium bestellt, kam eher einer Schuhsohle gleich und ebenfalls lauwarm. Plus gibt's dafür, dass Essens-spezialwünsche nach kleiner Absprache serviert wurden, leider aber auch hier: lauwarm Weiteres Minus: Das ungefragt servierte Brot zu Beginn, sollten wir mit 10€ zahlen, nach Nachfrage, warum dies so sei, wurde uns die Rechnung direkt wieder unkommentiert und ohne die Möglichkeit unsere Nachfrage zu klären, entwendet und um die 10€ korrigiert. Einen wirklichen Abschiedsgruß gab's dann leider auch nicht. Schade eigentlich.

Nos sentaron en la mesa con las servilletas y los cubiertos sucios para empezar. Tardaron muchísimo en servir la comida y trajeron los 3 platos de pescado quemados y con la guarnición que no habíamos pedido.

Um sítio a não voltar. Passei lá hoje uma vez fazia parte da rota do petisco. Disseram-me que o restaurante desistiu apesar de estar na lista de restaurantes. Já fui a várias edições da rota do petisco e foi a primeira vez que isto aconteceu.

We visited here as a group of 9. They were friendly while trying to entice us in but once we got in the service was the worst I have experienced as a paying customer. Nobody once asked us if everything was ok and that was probably because they knew it wasn't. We ordered 6 steaks and only 1 was cooked correctly. 1 was so under cooked that even after being sent back in it still came out medium when it was ordered well done. They told us they would remove it from the bill but instead put an extra 4 drinks on the bill to cover their loss and when I questioned this they knew they had been caught out. The manager didn't want to know anything as he was too busy trying to get people in the door and when we were leaving never said thanks, sorry, or even goodbye. Their are many wonderful restaurants in Faro if you wander the streets and side streets looking for them, if your on holidays don't waste 1 min or €1 in this place. It won't be appreciated.

It might look touristy!! But the food was sooooooooooohhhh good. Great service. The Estrella tapas offer even tho it was there at many restaurants each one offering there own version, Algravia's was amazing and huge portion so much so we cancelled our salad and went straight to our mains. (3 euros for an Estrella beer and tapas/person) The mains were delicious and the Alvarinho vinho Verde. Highly recommended for dinner in beautiful Faro. Excellent location.

Terrible service, was rushed from the minute we got there, not friendly at all. Food ok I suppose but def wouldn't go back,far to expensive as well.

Very good food, i wanted grilled sardines, wich they did't have left so they grilled some fresh fish, also the starters where very good. Good wine and good quality price ratio ❤

Sans saveur, poulpe dur et cuit trop longtemps, pas de demi bouteille de vin ou de vin au verre, ce qui vous oblige à commander la piquette de la casa. Personnel stressé et pas compétent, resto pour touriste, paye et ne revient pas

Food is expensive, that is not alone a problem, but the taste is not present, tuna steak was like hospital fish food, prawns had eggs in them and not well seasoned. The couvert were brought 2 times even if we told them that we ordered another starter, and there were added to the note....

❤️ Not bad for 10 euros plate.. Ask for the plate of the day... Ask for Ruy this guy speaks several languages Spanish French English pretty sure other ones too and of course Portugaishhh . ❗️ Say "nao obrigado" for the olives butter and bread to avoid surprises on the note. But that's everywhere not only here Pretty fancy place, a little expensive. Toilets perfectly clean and very modern with futuristic light from the tap.
