Had a car booked for beginning of April and for obvious reasons was unable to travel. Contacted Goldcar via an email address before the hire was due to start to ask for a voucher for the value of the hire to use at a future date and despite an automated response saying they would get back to me, here I am a month later with no response. I will not be using them again.

Kleiner übersichtlicher Flughafen. Das Personal spricht englisch und ist hilfsbereit. Ca. 500 Meter vor dem Flughafen befinden sich zahlreiche Auto-Vermietungen. Die Preise vor Ort sind bei alles Anbietern relativ identisch. Wir haben für 240€ die Woche einen Fiat 500 gemietet- mit Vollkasko und rundum Service.

Standard small-medium sized airport with the usual overpriced goods (€2.50 for a single packet of walkers crisps at one place). Things to note are:
1) Inbound tip: if you want to withdraw Euros upon arrival, use the Santander machines after you go through border control/baggage reclaim/the 'love actually doorway' (the one where all the drivers hold up signs with their clients names on). When I used the Santander machine, it did not charge comission, whereas the other machines charge comission and have terrible exchange rates. For example, if you want to take out €100 at the other machines, you're paying more than £100 to do so.
2) Outbound tip: get there with plenty of time to go through security. The queues are usually long due to the airport only having 5-6 scanning machines - and then there's border control too.
3) Outbound tip: you may be stood outside for some time whilst waiting to board planes at certain 'gates'. Something to bear in mind for those who may struggle with the heat.

Me and my husband have just arrived at faro and went to the passport check together, they said we have to go individually unless we were married, confirmed with him we were and to check our passports but he got aggressive and told my husband to stand behind the line despite the male and female couple in front being able to do it together. We landed and got to the check in at 19:45 on the 4th of june. For a liberal country I am quite shocked

Big queues, only 3 passport machines open, all 3 of which stopped working after about 10 minutes. No communication from staff, very expensive for food too.

Curiosa a postura na verificação da bagagem. Um pote de 280 grs de mel, foi barrado, no entanto se a mala fosse no porão já não havia problema!!!!!
A vigarice, é a palavra indicada, é tão evidente que se pode, depois de passar esse exame extremamente zeloso, comprar nas diversas lojas existentes após a verificação, garrafas e tudo o mais que se possa imaginar!!!!!
Teoricamente o pote foi para o lixo.....

complete chaos when we arrived from London ! all passengers were being checked by two officers. there were at least 1,000 passengers waiting ! then a passenger discovered there were electronic gates EU passengers could use. however one of the gates was not working. there were no airport employees to help at all. it was badly organised and left very bad impression of Portugal!
Caos completo quando chegamos de Londres! todos os passageiros estavam sendo checados por dois policiais. havia pelo menos 1.000 passageiros esperando! então um passageiro descobriu que havia portões eletrônicos que os passageiros da UE poderiam usar. no entanto, um dos portões não estava funcionando. não havia funcionários do aeroporto para ajudar em tudo. foi mal organizado e deixou muito má impressão de Portugal!

Busy busy airport as they have began introducing more international flights. Finding the gates is okay although I would arrive extra early for your flight as the line for security is extremely long. Food is expensive €10 for a coffee and sandwich, we will pack our own lunch next time.

This airport is running a parking scam where if you park in the first car park you come to, you will be charged €€€ as it is only for hire cars (despite very little signage). Even if you realise your mistake and are in this car park for 90 seconds you will be charged. Be careful!

Absolute nightmare. Huge cues, no organisation. Could only drop off luggage an hour and a half before boarding time which is ridiculous and made going through security etc even more stressful as we were so short on time. Most expensive airport I’ve been to as well.

C'est un très bel aéroport moderne et doté de tous les services nécessaires. Vous y trouverez une poste. Un service d'emballage de bagages. Toutes les commodités nécessaires. Les boutiques sont très belle et très bien entretenu. Le personnel est souriant. J'ai été étonné par la rapidité au contrôle des bagages et le professionnalisme de ces personnes.il y a des lignes de bus qui desservent les villes les plus proches ainsi qu'une multitude de taxi tout est très facile et quasiment tout est écrit en français et en anglais

New & improved Airport. We had no difficultys going through here. There is a good selection of shops bars and restaurants here. This would be in my top three airports
The only negative thing I'd say is that some of the bars and shops are very expensive. I paid over €10 for a beer, a coffee and a package of crisps in the sports bar. These are shocking prices for Portugal where everything is usually reasonably priced. I still give the airport five stars because the retail outlets are independent of the well run airport.

Very easy to navigate, but one massive downside. There are little to no food options for European destinations once past security. All options for food are only available to UK & Ireland. What is available for other European destinations is overpriced and low quality even by airport standards.

Unfortunately, I have had a very bad experience with Faro Airport and especially with its administration: I forgot my iPad at the security screening before my departure. Of course I wanted to get it back afterwards. I wrote two mails, received no reaction. Afterwards I called the airport Lost and Found, of course they didn't find anything. The Faro police didn't receive anything either. Very sad, because I am 100% sure I forgot it there. I told the Lost and Found office the exact time I lost my iPad, but unfortunately they were very uncooperative and couldn't help me.

Without doubt probably the most expensive airport in Europe. €10.95 for a tiny slice of pizza and a small coke. A water costs €3 minimum. Absolutely outrageous. Bring food with you.

Holy cow this is the second most expensive airport ever!! Consider 10 euro for a breakfast! 5 EURO FOR A COFFE!
The passport check is a joke.. We changed the cue as other passengers because the guy was directing only to one of the 4 options.

Parking longue duree plein a la mi mai. Pas de solutions ni d indications. On m informe qu il est mieux de faire une reservation avant. Donc je fais la vache a lait 13 euros au lieu de 5. Le m2 rapporte gros , merci. J espere que ce n est pas comme les autoroutes, financees par l union europeene

2) Toilettes salé et odeurs de pisse (Orly reste luxueux a côté )
3) Une organisation ridicule, un bordel pour passer d'une porte a l'autre mais aussi on vois oblige a passer dans une boutique comme si une bande de mafia vous obliger a passer chez eux avant !
4) On a des distributeurs mais 0 poubelles bravo la logique...
5) On est au mois de mai mais il fait déjà 25 degré avec un chaleur assez lourd donc difficile a respirer

First time in Portugal, had a lovely welcome from the very polite and friendly immigration officer. (Which is a miracle for regular travellers). Immigration was fast. The airport itself is small but adequate. Clean and very well mapped to navigate through.

Terrible organisation at this airport. Queue after queue after queue. Took an hour and 30 just to go through security on a normal day. When you have kids in tow, this is not acceptable. It puts you off going there in the first place.

Infelizmente uma pessoa querendo ir as lojas, por exemplo a victoria secret mas não pode, não tem direito de aceder porque e a parte da duty free “reservada” só para os voos que são para os países fora da união europeia. So temos acesso a uma duty free com quase nada para não dizer nada. Demasiado injusto

I arrived in Portugal at this airport, i was out pretty quick. Good facilities and clean.
The bus service to town is slow and the bus gets packed, sometimes its just 1 bus doing the circular route. I recommend getting an Uber ride, costs about €6 into town.

Nach vielen Jahren des bauen und renovieren ist Faro Aéroporte einer der schönsten Europas mit vielen Bars und Cafés im Innen- als auch im Aussenbereich, die zum verweilen einladen - da das Ganze finanziert werden soll sind die Parkplätze ziemlich teuer, aber was solls wer fliegen will....
Depois muitos anos a construir e renovar > Faro Aéroporte é uma das mais bonitas da Europa, com muitos bares e cafés interiores e exteriores eles convidá-lo - como tudo vai ser financiado, os estacionamentos são nao baratos, mas quem quer voar? ....

L'aéroport à été refait à neuf mais malheureusement uniquement pour les non européens avec une belle zone boutiques et restaurant quant aux autres une malheureuse cafétéria et deux petites boutiques. Ils nous prennent vraiment pour des cons pourquoi cette différence tous les aéroports ont une zone communiquante ......

Did not have the best experience. Took a total of 50 minutes for me to go through all the security gates, the queues were badly organized and way too long. Luckily I showed up at the airport earlier. Toilets were filthy and again long wait. It did not even seem to be that busy! The airport itself is quite modern, a few shops around. Having my €5 coffee just now.

Grown larger over the years but still pretty quick to get straight off your plane and out to your car. Check-in online and only take hand luggage if you're a regular visitor and you can be through and boarding your plane before you know it.

Bardzo ładny i przestronny port lotniczy, jeśli chodzi o odprawe to przebiegła sprawnie, gorzej było z odbiorem bagażu, bardzo długo trzeba było czekać na pojawienie się ich na taśmie, wyjezdzaly partiami w kilku minutowych odstępach to na koniec okazało się że kilku zabrakło i musieliśmy jako grupa czekać aż się odnalazly prawie godzinę. Sam port lotniczy robi wrażenie, budynek jak i cała infrastruktura wokół wyglądają bardzo nowocześnie i są bardzo funkcjonalne

I'm left my laptop at the check in area and returned days later. That it had been handed in to the lost and found office has reinforced my faith in humanity.

Moderner Internationaler Flughafen fuer die Algarve. Nach einigen Umbauten ist unser farl Airport auf einem guten Internationalen Standard. Top Flugverbindungen zu guenstigen Preisen binden die Algarve an das Internationale Flugnetz an.
Im Flughafen ist der Service gut, Kleine Bars und Geschaefte lassen die Wartezeit angenehm werden. Die Ausschilderung und die Infrastruktur ist sehr gut. man findet immer einen, wenn auch teuern Parkplatz.
Leider ist fuer viele Orte an der Algarve wie Sagres oder Vilareal de Santo Antonio der Flughafen weit entfernt.

Ich kenne viel Flughäfen. Das ist mit Abstand der modernste! Sehr angenehme Gestaltung der Gastronomiebereiche, sodass man sich hier gerne hinsetzt.
Es gibt Wasser aus dem Automat für nur 1€!
Hatte auch einen Mietwagen und diesbezüglich alles super zu finden und sehr logisch gebaut.

Tap Air - The worst customer service ever! DO NOT FLY WITH THESE CLOWNS!
Tap Air lost our luggage in August 2018, during the three weeks that we had to chase them every time for updates, there was no communication from them to us on at all. They told us they were searching for our luggage but they never actually knew where it was at any point.
We had to search for it ourselves and in the end it was only me and my partners actions that led to our luggage being found again.
They ruined our holiday and we had buy toiletries and a few clothes as we did not have our luggage there. We asked for compensation for the things we bought and it took 6 months for them to reimburse us after making us jump through hoops and even claim our receipts had been lost in the post!
We asked them for compensation for our entire holiday as it was completely ruined by their complete lack of professionalism, incompetence and poor communication. We got nothing from them.
We advise anyone thinking of flying with them to make alternative plans and avoid these clowns.

Absolute shambles, held on aircraft for 25 minutes after landing on time whilst firstly the steps were brought to the aircraft and then buses some 15 minutes later.
Nearly 30 minutes to clear passport control as a number of flights all landed within a very short period of time, another 30 minutes waiting for cases and then a hike to find the Tui coach. Landed at 10:10, coach finally left for the resort at 12:05.

The airport is fairly small. It's a short ride from it to Faro. You can use Uber here and it's a ~6 Euro ride. In fact, you can use Uber to go around the area in general and this is awesome - no sweat searching or ordering a cheap ride.

Als je in een rolstoel zit of anderzijds hulp nodig hebt is dit een super luchthaven. Ze begeleiden je tot aan de taxi toe. Met twee of drie personen zelfs.. ook je koffers worden door het personeel verzorgd en fooi werd zelfs geweigerd.. t was hun taak...

Muy mala experiencia en el parking del aeropuerto. Al llegar e insertar la tarjeta del parking me pedían 264 €, por 3 días. Intentaron engañarme. A las 12 nOche fui a ventanila, donde finalmente hicieron una tarjeta por valor de 48 €. PAGUÉ y al retirarme de la ventanilla otra pareja de extranjeros le pasaba lo mismo. Que asco.
Al insertar la tarjeta para salir del parkin, me decía la máquina que pagase 1,8 €. En fin. Espantoso.

The duty free is not duty free at all
An example: a bottle of Dona Antônia port wine will cost 10€ in a supermarket, there it's 15 or 16 euros, tabaco is also more expensive, hell everything is a rip off
Avoid Portuguese duty free like the plague
Edit: just got robbed 4 euros, 2 Euros by the water machine after security and 2 euros by the water machine at gate 320(and someone there complained of the same)

Bardzo fajne lotnisko. Z racji małej wielkości wszędzie łatwo i szybko można się dostać. Dobrze oznakowany i łatwy dojazd. 2 minutki spacerem do centrum wypożyczania samochodów. W części odlotów sporo restauracji z górnej półki cenowej oraz sieciówki. Bardzo dobrze zaopatrzone sklepy z alkoholami, kosmetykami. Ceny dość dobre.

Fantastic regional airport with the traditional shops and cafes inside. Easy parking outside, short term and longer term, not very expensive. Wasn't very busy at 9am for an arrival. Seems to be well maintained, clean and safe .

Good little airport, decent amounts of space to sit down, impressed by the improvements since I was last here, speedily through security, very friendly, all speak very good English. Subway is a good stop on the way through, friendly staff, decent prices considering it's one of the only food places within the building airside.

28/10/2018 16:00 - 16:30 passei no controle coloquei como solicitado os meus pertences na bandeja inclusive chale e relogio RADO. Ao passar apitou pediram para tirar o sapato e a meia. Fui palpada por uma funcionária. Enquanto isto a minha bandeja permanecia na esteira sem ser observada. Fui liberada e me diregi a minha bandeja e peguei os meus pertences e coloquei na bolsa. Dei alguns passos e queria ver as horas e percebi q nao havia pego o relogio a bandeja estava vazia. Pedi a policia pois a segurança nao teria responsabilidade. A policia "Sumiu o relógio quer q eu faça o que" respondeu me o policial. Não é responsabilidade da companhia, dos segurança do aeroporto de ninguém. Terra de ninguém. Fui obrigada a colocar todos os meus pertences e ninguém responde. Hj liguei o policial me informou q acharam o relógio porem nao era o meu e q a responsabilidade dos meus pertences na bandeja é do viajante.

The airport is OK. Infrastructure is not super modern but also not old. It's a solid neutral. The bathroom was also okay, soap and paper were there, touchless fosset, cool, but the smell was a bit nauseating. I guess there are not enough bathrooms in the airport so everybody goes to the same one. Security was fast and the staff was nice, we got through hassle-free. The wifi is there and it is free, but expect "free wifi" quality. It's quite slow and hard to check for boarding passes and surf the web, it is enough to text though.
There is one thing that I could not wrap my head around - some changes were done on the airport lately and because of passport control, they decided to dedicate one single terminal for UK flights and the other for the rest. Sounds fair enough since a lot of flights come and go to the UK but the restaurant and shop area are only available at the UK terminal!! After security they taunt you with a view from a glass window and you see burguer king, subway, clothing stores, nice chairs but it is unreachable to the non-UK traveler. When I reached the terminal there was a place to eat called "food point" that sells chicken legs for 13euros and thats it. How can this be ? I'm not sure if this is what the management wants but for the non-UK traveler what it feels like is a distinction from premium to low class travelers based solely on the destination of the flight.
Very very bad. Please re-think this strategy.

Nieprzyjemna obsługa podczas kontroli bezpieczeństwa bagaży podrecznych. Dwie strefy bezcłowe, do większej brak wstępu. Chyba trochę wyższe ceny niż zwykle na lotniskach. Brudne toalety.

Gates: Schrecklich. Der richtige Food-Court und diverse Läden sind Gästen aus England und Irland vorbehalten. Alle anderen Passagiere haben kein Restaurant, sondern lediglich einen kleinen Food-Corner mit 'Pizza' (oder so was ähnlichem), trockenen Sandwiches und überteuerten Getränken.
Immerhin sind die Mitarbeiter freundlich.

Small but organized. I was in this airport a few days ago, and it's a small one, but organized. I could leave the plan easily, find my bag, and go to the car-rental-area to pick up my car.
To check-in the same. Unfortunately it seems that is not possible to do online check-in in advance in this airport, so we need to be in the airport a bit earlier, do the check-in, and then security and go inside.
I had no delays or problems on my arrival or departure.

Sauberer und übersichtlicher Flughafen. Bei der Ankunft lief alles sehr gut. Das Gepäck kam schnell auf's Band und die Beschilderung war übersichtlich.
Beim Rückflug gab es beim, Check-In keine Probleme. Allerdings war es auffällig, das wir im Vergleich zum Flughafen Düsseldorf die Bordkarten nicht nur 3 mal, sondern 6 mal vorzeigen mussten. Sprich: Nach dem Einchecken, bzw. nach der Abgabe des Gepäcks wurde man über einen markierten Weg mit (gefühlt) allen anderen Fluggästen gelotst. Auf diesem Weg allein, wurden die Bordkarten 3 mal überprüft. Anschließen wurde man in diverse Richtungen geweist (erneut waren hier mehrere Reisende von verschiedenen Flügen/Fluggesellschaften in die selbe Richtung verwiesen worden), bur um im Nachhineine, nach erneuter Kontrolle der Bordkarten in den selben Wartebereich gelotst zu werden, wo wir zwei Aisgangstüren hatten (die im Endeffekt "nur" nach draußen führten und den Zugang zum Zubringer-Bus ermöglichten.
Desweiteren war es seltsam, das die Preise für Waren im Laufe dieser Odyssee stark schwanklten. So kostete z.B. eine 0,33er Flasche Wasser an einem Punkz (Automaten) noch 1,30 Euro, und bei, nächsten Punkt (gefühlt 20 Meter entfern... und der vorherige Punkt war zu Fuß problemlos in 2 Minuten erreichbar) 2,00 Euro und beim Kiosk direkt nebenan (erneut: der ursprüngliche Automat mit einem Preis von 1,30 pro Flasche war problemlos erreichbar) verlangte schon 2,80 Euro für das Wasser.
Fazit: In Faro sollte man seine Bordkarte immer zur Hand haben und (sofern man Durst hat) das Wasser am ersten Automaten nach der Kontrolle kaufen.

Sixt Car Hire Faro Airport
Please be advised to Really Check over Car on arrival.
Arrival was a bit wet and went over the car (not as much as I should have) All OK on return until they noted the smallest of scratch(see pic) on the bottom of the rear valance about 20cm from road, when on hands and knee you can see a mark, however Ive just been charged E200 (I know I did not do it) When this was found out on return, the guy checking over said they would not charge to me! but he would update the car condition report with the marks. A Week later I get the bill! Very poor, I go to Portugal alot and will not use Sixt again

This is a gorgeous newer facility. I couldn’t give more stars for a couple reasons. The passport control for departures seemed disorganized, just one long line through the duty free area was stressful when you are getting to a flight. The line goes quickly though, you can’t even read the sign from the back, I thought it was the coffee line. Fortunately the coffee line was short. The other issue is that we had to queue down a flight of stairs to enter the gate area. Annoying enough when travelling with a kid, but much worse for the elderly people for whom there was little to no help from staff and no elevator, a little disgraceful for a popular destination for seniors. They could easily move a couple staff to the area to help, they had lots it seemed.

Não é muito pequeno mas é bem organizado e de fácil acesso. Existem várias lojas e duty free. Estacionamento bom. Tem boa sinalização interna, mas tive dificuldade em localizar a entrada correta para o embarque, chegando a noite de carro. Mas acabou bem.

Aéroport flambant neuf, grand, clair et propre. Sans compter les boutiques... j'ai été très surpris de voir un si bel aéroport lumineux et grandiose pour une petite ville comme Faro quand je le compare avec celui de Nantes.... circulation fluide pour y accéder. Très bonne organisation. Les loueurs de voiture sont tous à la sortie. Excellente expérience. Contrairement à ce que j'ai pu lire, l'aéroport est propre et grandiose et les boutiques duty free proposent une large gamme de produits beaucoup plus variée qu'à Nantes. Cet aéroport n'a rien à envier à certains de nos aéroports français, loin de là !

I don’t even know what to say,
After we got thru security we were hungry so we tried to find a place to eat, you have a super Tiny food court for the EU, while Britain had this pretty big food court with a subway, Burger King, etcetera. I am Dutch so sadly I could not find a way to get there, we asked staff at the airport if there was a way to get there but they said there wasn’t like it was the most normal thing in the World. So I got on my flight and that was that.
And I almost forgot to say this: So I bought a salmon wrap which was €7,00 that was only filled half-way.
Well I hope this is fixed when I come back

Most bike friendly airport I have ever been to and I have travelled with my bike for over 25years. Bike stands with tools to put together or take your bike a part. Even had some bike boxes available so you could pack you bike away to fly out. Excellent. Super impressed.

Vergeleken met jaren geleden is de luchthaven van Faro uitstekend, zowel bij aankomst, alles gaat allemaal vlot en de soepel, tot wanneer men vertrekt.
Bij het inchecken gaat het soms niet zo vlot, maar dat ligt meer aan de reizigers dan aan het personeel ter plaatse.
Wanner je door de security bent komt je in het gebied waar je makkelijk je laatste cent kan uitgeven. Mooie winkels en een aantal gangbare restaurants en voldoende ruimte.
Wellicht dat dit anders is in het hoogseizoen.

Small but smaller than expected for the population. Public transport from/to is a disgrace in off season. So say mid Nov to early Dec- gluck gettin a bus or train to your exotic hotel on the coasts as only city buses are available every couple of hrs and my bus to Portimao was only at 12pm or 6pm. Inbetween was 2.45 pm or 6pm from Faro bus station.
But if ur balling with €€£££$$$ u can get private transfers/taxis/uber etc at 4 timez the cost of Public Transport and get to where you need to in 1/3 of the time. (My route airport to faro- 25 minz €3.6... Faro to Portimao less than €10.... 3hr journey but hella good viewz on the way and comfy seating).
My route from Portimao to Faro airport via uber (€65) passing highways.... (fell asleep cos of nothing to see) but only took 50min which felt like forever.
Tourist desto yes it is but they really need ot improve on the food options at the airport departure alongside the most important thing- availability of a variation of transprot options. Not just taxis, uber, private transfers or hotel transfers(also same price as uber etc).

Der Faro Airport ist nach der erfolgten Erweiterung/Umbau, ein wahres Schmuckstück geworden. Was besonders gefällt, ist die Übersichtlichkeit und die, in Relation zu z. B. Frankfurt, kurzen Wege. Alles ist sehr hell und freundlich gestaltet. Hat man von Deutschland ein Auto gemietet, findet man viele Vermieter im Airport selbst. Auch die nicht im Gebäude befindlichen Rent a Car Unternehmen kann man am P 4 gut erreichen. (ca 200 m) Von dort bringen die Shuttlebusse den Mieter zur eigentlichen Station und auch -bei der Abgabe des Mietautos- wieder zum Airport zurück. Sympathischer Flughafen!

Very quick and smooth.
There were no queues anywhere.
This is a small airport and I travelled at 11am. I had to wait only 5 minutes or so for check in, and the same for security. Everything was way faster then expected.
There are 2 gates a and b with numbers in each. Once you go through passport control by a or b the area to sit is in some ways smaller.
If you're buying water do it in the machine just after security for it costs 1 euro and in the other machines later on it is 2 or more.
Great service from all the staff I met...

Parking aan het eind van de startbaan....van hier kan je zeer mooi de vliegtuigen voor je ogen zien opstijgen....zeer speciale ervaring.....zeer grote mixparking waar ook campers kunnen parkeren en overnachten....zonder services....en aan de andere kant het natuurgebied, en het strand op wandelafstand..... È un aeroporto moderno e di recente ristrutturazione, con ampi spazi da condividere sia agli arrivi sia alle partenze. Troppo spesso però agli imbarchi sono aperti solo due varchi e la fila, così come l'attesa, si prolungano troppo. Buona la zona check in ma un po' cari i bar all'interno dell'area. Gli uffici del noleggio auto ora sono tutti all'esterno, raggiungibili a piedi attraverso un breve tunnel. Un po' stretti gli spazi per l'attesa al gate.

Hat alles wunderbar geklappt. Nach der Kontrolle hatten wir wieder Wasser am Automaten gekauft. Die 0,33 Liter Flasche hat da 1,-€ gekostet. Für Flughafen eigentlich akzeptabel. Da gibt es auf der Welt noch teurere Automaten.
In der Duty Free Zone gab es auch viel Auswahl. Das Personal war auch freundlich.

Lotnisko po rozbudowie i remoncie naprawdę dobre. Dużo przestrzeni. Dobra organizacja. Bardzo długo zajmuje niestety oczekiwanie na bagaż po przylocie co obniża jego ocenę. Biura firm wynajęcia aut zlokalizowane są poza głównym terminalem do którego trzeba wyjść na prawo z hali przylotów i przejść krótkim tunelem. Stacja paliw przy samym lotnisku.

Ich kann die teils schlechten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Es hat sowohl beim Hinflug als auch beim Rückflug alles reibungslos geklappt. Es gab zwar hinter der Sicherheitskontrolle zwei Bereiche, wie hier erwähnt extra für Flüge nach GB, aber auch wir hatten nicht nur Automaten sondern auch große Duty Free Shops. Tipp: Am Getränkeautomat direkt an der Security gibt es 0.5 Liter Wasser für 1€.

The Airport is currently under major redevelopment a far cry from.when we first arrived 16+ years ago, although that to was really nice. The food court and Duty free area is competitive and certainly not as expensive as some people make out .As for other facilities such as smoking areas cant understand what the problem is it's a pretty standard thing that public facilities such as bars clubs and airports shops etc do not allow people to smoke in public areas and have designated areas for smokers. The staff are as courteous to you as you are to them I've always found them very helpful and look forward to returning very soon

Der mieseste Flughafen für eine Touristendestination. Die Security ist grotesk:
Bei der Personenkontrolle ist mein iPhone fast verloren gegangen! Nebst dem Handgepäck musste ich auch mein iPhone in die Schalen des Rollbands legen, sodass es aus meiner Sicht entschwand. Ein Securitymann hat es zum Glück gesehen und abgefangen bevor die Schale im Untergrund retour fährt!
Nach der Sicherheits-Kontrolle kommt ein kleiner Dutyfreeladen und zwei überfüllte Restaurants und sonst nichts - keine Spezialitäten! Man muss also vorher einkaufen.

Sämtliche Restaurants und Geschäfte nach der Sicherheitskontrolle befinden sich am Gate B, wer ab Gate A fliegen muss, hat keine Möglichkeit dorthin zu gelangen. Da alle Flüge in den Schengenraum ab Gate A starten, ist dieser Umstand nicht nachvollziehbar. Raucher sollten sich bewusst sein, dass es nach der Sicherheitskontrolle keine Gelegenheit mehr gibt zu Rauchen (zumindest im Gate A nicht).

Boas a minha passagem de final de férias a 28/09/19 por volta das 17.00h pelo aeroporto de Faro deixou muito a desejar, começando pelo bom: check in rápido pela Jet2 e sem nada a reclamar aeroporto com fácil acesso e rápido de usar.. Menos mal: Segurança bastante arrogante sem ter feito nada basicamente (duas raparigas) devia ter perguntado o nome. Boarding gate 1 hora a espera desde abertura do mesmo até meter uma perna na passada do avião.

Outbound transit through check-in, security and passport control was very smooth and stress free, however yet again having been called to the boarding gate and having had passport and boarding cards checked we were then stuck waiting for an airport bus to transport passengers to the aircraft, there were further delays waiting for passengers needing assistance to be brought to the aircraft. Eventually took off 20 minutes late. Delays at Faro, either inbound or outbound, are invariably due to the total lack of any organisation air side.

Renewed airport. Easy to arrive at and to leave from. Several car rentals agencies are now outside of the building, only 2 minutes walk with small pedestrian tunnel. For those renting a car during Summer season, it is recommended to avoid landing on Saturday. Otherwise, even if car agencies are well organized, you will have to spend time waiting for others to check their car out.

Nous avons eu un retard de 7h et vu qu on était dans la zone A nous n'avions pas pu avoir accès aux boutiques et restaurant nous devions rester dans une zone où n y avait que 1 resto et 2 boutiques quand tu dois attendre 1h cava mais quand ta un retard et que tu dois attendre 7h a tourner en rond avec un bébé on a vite fait le tour. C'est n'importe quoi jai jamais vu ça dans aucun aéroport les commerces au bcp a y perdre ! Vous ferez mieux de changer ça !

Wir waren bereits mehrmals an diesem Flughafen. 2017 kam man noch in einen netten Bereich mit Lokalen, einem Pub etc. Das geht - seit Umbau? - nicht mehr - bei einem RF nach Deutschland. Jetzt nur noch wenige Geschäfte, sonst nur Automaten.
Im anderen Bereich ( konnte man durch Scheibe sehen) alles leer.
Kann ich nicht nachvollziehen..
Vielleicht kann mir jmd. den Sinn erklären?

Небольшой прибрежный аэропорт с удобным терминалом, несколькими закусочными, парковкой, арендой автомобилей. Адекватный контроль авиабезопасности. Небольшие очереди. Бесплатный wi-fi с простой регистрацией. Достаточно комфортно.

All I can is for those of you who fly in the summer season what do you expect?
All airports are so busy they will all have there problems. Kids on school holidays families trying to get away teenagers etc.
I live in Portugal and generally the portugeese are lovely people so respect them and there culture as well there country
If you choose to travel in the peak of the season you will get that from any airport . I have flown many times from multiple airports and that's how it is. Try flying october the weather is still warm and airports are less busy or when the kids are at school. Otherwise stop moaning and just get on with it. It's not the UK

Fenomenalnie zorganizowane lotnisko! Takiego ordnungu nie widziałem nawet na najbardziej renomowanych, niemieckich lotniskach. Kontrola bezpieczeństwa przebiega wręcz wzorowo: zamiast typowego chaosu, przy każdej taśmie wyznaczone są 3-4 stanowiska. Gdy pojawia się zielone światło, można jedno z tych stanowisk zająć i spokojnie się rozłożyć. Cały proces wspiera pan z obsługi. Poza tym na lotnisku w Faro jest dużo dobrze i wyraźnie oznakowanych toalet. Bez problemu można dostrzec je z daleka - co nie na każdym lotnisku jest standardem. Knajpy i sklepy - jak na typowym lotnisku.

After check in, I tried explaining the situation to one of the myway agents regarding assistance, but was rudely dismissed, despite showing them my son's important flyer badge, when we proceeded to security, I asked one of the officers if he could open the fast track lane, and showed him the important flyer badge, but was again refused, thankfully another officer opened the fast track lane for us, having seen our distress.
If that wasn't bad enough, our flight was delayed by an hour, and we received no information from anybody regarding the flight.
This airport has put me and my family off from ever visiting the Algarve ever again.

Despite the fact that Faro is not so big, it’s airport is really good. Big, spacious, clean and beautiful. X-ray lines are fast, boarding gates have a room for waiting with water machines and bathrooms. WiFi works and is really fast!

Schlechte Ausschilderung, keine Informationen, wann Check in beginnt, da der Flug Verspätung hatte. Unglaublich unfreundliche Frau beim Check in. Sie machte den dritten Schalter auf, holte sich die Passagiere aber ausschließlich aus der mittleren Schlange vor Schalter 2. Ständig kamen Passagiere, die sie unfreundlich zurückwies. Auf ameinen Einwand, dass dies niemand verstehe, reagierte sie mit unglaublicher Arroganz. Wir waren übrigens die Ersten, die von ihr bedient wurden , so dass kein persönlicher Frust dahintersteht. Schade, dass es keine Null Punkte gibt.

1 Stern, weil 0 Sterne nicht gehen. Flug hatte Verspätung, man bekam keine Infos und konnte auch das Gepäck nicht abgeben. Noch nie hatte ich so unfreundliches Personal beim Check In, welche nicht gegrüßt hat und viele Personen beim Check In als "dumm" deklariert hat.

Our inbound transit through the airport was smooth and easy. Outbound; although it was busy and crowded, at no time was there a sense of it being out of control nor did it seem that those in charge were indifferent or uncaring some even found time to make small jokes or just put people at ease.

Pretty terrible and expencive. Could not find a place to fill up my water bottle. Tax free basically more expensive than in Portugal. Smelly toilet. No smoking lounges. Delayed flight, didn’t make the experience better!

Everything until getting through security was ok but after security, the airport is not that good.
They also announced the gate for our flight but then didn't open the all the hallway doors. Everyone was stuck in a small corridor waiting for half an hour for the doors to open, it got quite hot as well...

Aéroport très grand et propre.
Par contre, 1h30 pour pouvoir enregistrer les bagages et après énorme file d'attente pour le passage de la sécurité.
Un peu plus et on loupé notre vol.
Grosse réorganisation à voir à ce niveau.. nul.
Le personnel est attentif et essaie de s'exprimer correctement et dans n'importe quel langue

Grauenhaft! Nur als Reisender nach Irland oder GB (Bereich B) hat man Zutritt zu den Geschäften und Essensmöglichkeiten in Bereich A geht man mehr oder weniger leer aus und hat bis auf ein paar Automaten und einen überteuerten Baguette Stand keine Möglichkeit an Essen oder Trinken zu kommen. Das ist absolut nicht hinnehmbar! Bereich A ist zudem massiv überfüllt während in Bereich B alles frei ist und die Geschäfte auch keinen Umsatz machen.

Overcrowded, small airport. If you get to gate A you can't really get any good food. There's a tiny "food court" with subpar food. Very few seats, and not really clean.
The worst part is that if you explore the gate a bit more, you can actually see some stuff in gate B, like Burger King, Subway, what I think looked like a bar and a café. But there was no way to get to the good stuff. It was there just as a tease.
Overall a pretty sad experience.

Este aeroporto encontra se como outros aeroportos, distante aproximadamente 5-10 km do centro de Faro. Podes fazer o acesso ao desembarque das bagagens de carro por 10 minutos free. Após tem custos. Este ponto recebe veiculos Uber. A praça de taxis não é o mesmo local, é próximo.

Seriousness of security check seems to depend on affluence : when a lot of passengers wait, nearly unexisting controls.
Very few shops and restaurants in Gate A area (gate B area much better).

Vliegveld gebouwd op discriminatie. Britten hebben aparte gates en niet-Britten kunnen niet naar de Burgerking. Hierdoor moesten wij duurdere patat met droge kip kopen. Ik had me nog zo verheugd op een goede triple whopper.

What the f**k. Had the best holiday ever to be treated like absolute sh** at the airport . Waited patiently to go through security, one of the men at security was being very unclear and mumbling at me to wait, I did exactly as told, however he accused me of ignoring him, swore at me, made sexist comments. I did not do anything wrong?! So inappropriate, rude, intolerable of women by the sound of it . He should not be allowed to work in customer service!! Never been spoken to like that in my life. I was so upset and confused at the aggression.
Also the pricing is sickening. They overcharge, got my husbands order wrong and just laughed at him for questioning it.
They also called two flights to the same boarding gate at the same time, hundred of confused people sat on the floor for an hour?!
Avoiding for the rest of my life.

Only encounter I had with staff was at passport control. They didn't even say hello, never mind expecting "welcome to Portugal". Passport control and baggage reclaim was efficient.

Airport isn't geared up for late arrivals which should be expected for a low cost airline/holiday destination. Immigration on arrival is poor - electronic gates not working, few staff. Worse than most airports I've been to outside the EU let alone inside.

On Tuesday 23-07-2019 I arrived to faro airport from Dublin with my wife and my 10 months old baby and obviously we brought a baby buggy with us from dublin. At arrival all the luggage showed up as normal, but our baby buggy and 5 other passengers buggys were missing from same flight...
They claim it didn't came on the plane and were left in Dublin. So I had to make a report on lost and found were I asked if this issue was common and for my suprise he said yes. When I was done with the report I went out to get transport to the hotel and soon later one of the passenger that his buggy was lost came up to me to inform all be buggys were found....
I think all the staff working in this airport are under paid and they need passengers resources to make an extra cash, but it didn't happen this day. Just be careful with this airport....

Even if the airport has been renovated its processes have not. It is like travelling in the past since the bag-drop takes forever and the staff is inefficient, full of themselves and not service minded at all. If all passengers have to cue for over an hour even if you have checked in the GDP lost consumption is huge. If they take themselves seriously as a tourist destination they should make sure that the first and last experience is a pleasant one.

Une fois au niveau du gate A pas accès au duty free du gate B pour les UK qui a l'air bien mieux fournis.
De plus, la ceinture de mon compagnon a été égarée lors du check-in...
Enfin bref, allez y le plus tard possible et profitez de Faro.

There is many restaurant where you can't get acces only if you are travelling to UK or Ireland. There is no information about it. I asked outside if there is the one I was looking for. They said after security check. It is true. But if you are travelling other palaces you have limited option to eat. Not happy. If I know I would eat before I came in.

Modern, spacious and clean (apart from the departure lounges which a dark and strange) small. Generally good special assistance ('My Way') staff both times I've been as a wheelchair user and my chair was not lost by this airport or its staff which is more than I can say for others. Quite expensive.

Not a great experience at all! There are two sides, one for all Europeans and one for England.
We tried to get to the other side to get to Victoria's Secret, BK, Subway, etc. but we were told that the two sides are actually seperated! I'm sorry but that seems a bit unfair since the European side only has one very overpriced Food corner and no other restaurants at all!

Changed from 1 to 3 start as the airport is much improved since last visit. However:
1) Considering the airport is in Portugal, you'd think a newly refurbished airport would have air conditioning! Instead, the entire airport is stuffy and uncomfortable
2) Once through security, there's a serious lack of seating!

Faro Airport is a SHAMBLES! Nowhere to sit, people treated like cattle being led into a dead end. Kids had to sit on stairs while waiting as there was nowhere else. Extortionate prices for water taking into account there was no air conditioning during one of the hottest weeks of the year. Used to be a perfectly good airport but has been ruined by the recent 'improvements'.

The entrance was alright, however after that the renovations seem to have stopped. The lines at security were long, SOME of the staff were not the friendliest and to board, the experience got even worse.

Vergleichsweise kleiner Flughafen, der ein kurioses "Treppe-rauf-Treppe-runter-Treppe-rauf"-System entwickelt hat, um die Urlaubermassen zu bewältigen. Leider sind die Abfertigungszeiten an der Sicherheitskontrolle kaum mehr kalkulierbar, deshalb besser etwas mehr Zeit mitbringen. Immerhin gibt es nach Abschluss der Umbauarbeiten draussen nun ein Café.
Was richtig ärgerlich ist: Vor dem Umbau kam man auch als Schengen-Reisender zu den zahlreichen Shops und Souvenirläden und Restaurants im Erdgeschoss. Dieser Bereich ist nun exklusiv den Großbritannien-Reisenden vorbehalten. Der Rest der Reisenden darf sich eine kleine Hand voll mickriger Läden und Restaurants anschauen, wo schnell Gedränge herrscht. Ich dachte, dass ich mich hier ungeschickt anstelle, aber mir wurde vom Personal ausdrücklich bestätigt, dass Reisende in die Niederlande oder Deutschland in diesen Teil des Flughafens keinen Zutritt mehr haben. Eine echte 2-Klassen-Gesellschaft am Flughafen in Faro. Eigentlich ein absoluter no-go....

Not a great experience trying to arrive into Faro and find your way out of the airport... we ended up standing back in a departure queue! Better signage needed, and staff should not be having to direct people constantly.

The entrance and check-in area of the airport are actually new and ok. The shops and restaurant after the security are not that bad either. Problems start at the waiting area's and gates where its dark and packed with people. Hallways are small, its dark and all these parts did not get an update since the 80's I suppose.

For the amount of people here the airport is far too small. Literally queuing for everything, a queue to get into the queue.
Super expensive, I realise that airports will hike prices up, but this price hike is ridiculous.

The worst airport I have ever visited.
It may be passable if you're flying outside the Schengen Area - this building structure has been clearly developed to cater to the passengers flying to and from the United Kingdom - but it is absolutely awful if you're flying domestically.
It is a reflection of Faro itself, caring more about tourists than natives.
