Absolute top and very much worth visiting! Tasty exotic sea food and helpful, friendly staff with very good English. Wide choice of wines too. It would be smart to make a reservation there, as the place is rather small (but with that special, homy ambient). :-)

Restaurant avec sa décoration sympa. Serveurs très à l'écoute mais ne parle que l'anglais. Pensez à réserver si vous venez à plus de 2. Choix varié et très bon pour les plats. Surtout ne partez sans goûter la spécialité (dessert ) la trilogie de l'Algarve, c'est fameux! Prix très abordables. À conseiller les yeux fermés.

Nous avons dîner très tardivement à la taverne et nous avons été reçu par une équipe très chaleureuse, au petit soin et non envahissante. Sans compter que c’etait Succulent je suis moi même d’origine portugaise et nous nous sommes régalés avec une cataplane (leur spécialité) des coques et des encornets un délice. Je vous le conseille sans hésiter ! Nous reviendrons ...

Leggendo le recensioni optiamo c questo locale , piccolo ma accogliente . Due salette da 20 posti , quindi meglio prenotare e chiuso la domenica . Proviamo 2 entrate locali molto buone , dei calamari saltti in padella e la loro polenta . Tutto ottimo .
L’arroz di cannolicchi nn male, diciamo sufficiente. La Cataplana x noi italiani nn mi ha entusiasmato come piatto , da noi si mangia frequentemente crostacei grigliati.
Comunque gestione famigliare ottima , titolare e personale molto gentili e intrattenitori pronti a soddisfare le richieste del cliente

Auténtica y sabrosa cocina portuguesa a precio más que asequible
Estuvimos ayer, 9 de diciembre de 2018, cuatro personas almorzando en la Taberna de Zé-Zé, restaurante situado junto al lateral de la iglesia de Nossa Senhora do Carmo (Virgen del Carmen para nosotros), en Faro, en cuyo interior se encuentra la famosa Capilla dos Ossos.
Acogida estupenda por parte de Augusto, el camarero, a pesar de que, en Portugal, era un poco tarde para comer.
Augusto nos aconsejó magistralmente, con total honradez y tomamos arroz con abundante marisco, lulinhas, navajas, ensalada, papas fritas (congeladas pero muy bien fritas), postres de ensueño y las tradicionales aceitunas y el paté de atún casero. Todo magnífico, gustoso, platos más que generosos, la cerveza y el vino blanco fríos, el tinto en su punto de temperatura. Por cierto, Augusto nos invitó a media botella de un tinto alentejano muy aceptable, Penedo Gordo, así como a chupitos de licor de cerezas.
Una experiencia magnifica que, con toda certeza, volveremos a repetir en próximas visitas a Faro.

Me and my husband went in this place to taste the traditional Cataplana. Our first impression was quite good cause of nice location (just a few tables) and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, we cannot say to be satisfied about the food. We found sand (enough to make the dish not eaten) in clams and prawns. We mentioned it to the staff and they offered us another plate of Cataplana. We appreciated it, the new dish was with no more sand but less reach than the previous one (only two prawns and two big mussels, the rest was small clams, razor clams and pieces of crab). We found also the tomato souce cold. Finally, we spent 58 € for the cataplana and we would have expected more attention and quality. I do not reccomand it.

Para terminar nuestras vacaciones en Faro, el 14 de agosto, hemos elegido por TripAdvisor éste restaurante que se encuentra cerca de la "Igreja do Carmo".
La Taberna no es muy grande: son 2 ambientes separados de la cocina, que está abierta y se encuentra accedendo al secundo ambiente.
Ya poder ver la cocina es un óptimo señal, porque demuestra que el restaurante no tiene nada que esconder.
La gestión es familiar: la jefa y su madre se ocupan de las preparaciones gustosas, mientras el marido y su cuñado acuden a los clientes con mucha gentileza.
Comimos 1 "Salada mista" (con legumbres estofados, tomates y cebolla), que compartimos en 2. Después pudimos gustar la "Cataplana de Peixe" (con merluza, 2 variedades de almejas, gambas reales, tomates, cebolla, ajo y un poco de pimiento rojo). La cataplana es como una "olla de presión" muy particular, en la cual te sirven el pescado (para 2 personas al menos).
Para acompañar los platos nos aconsejaron un vino blanco "de la casa", Alentejano, muy aromático y agradable: Penedo Gordo.
La cuenta de 70 euros más o menos ha sido totalmente adecuada.
Si regresaremos a Faro, seguramente cenaremos otra vez en la "Taberna zé-zé".

La cataplana de marisco rica pero carisima. En albufeira primera linea de olaya lo comes por 35 en vez de por 70. Cobran por mantequilla 1 euro por aceitunas 1 euro pan 1 euro. Tipico entrante q no pides y que oye al final 3 euros y pico mas una cataplana pasasa de precio en un local regulero. No recomendable

Relação qualidade preço, desfavorável. Alguns dos pratos que constavam da carta, não estavam disponíveis. Sala pequena e como estava cheia tínhamos dificuldade em conversar. Staff simpático e atencioso

Geen bijzonder restaurant. Hoge prijzen, goede wijn, maar geen bijzonder eten. Kom hier alleen als je schelp/schaaldieren wilt eten. Vlees is van slechte kwaliteit. T-bone steak teruggestuurd. De vervanger was al niet veel beter.

Good wine. Food was good as well but little too expensive for what you get. Also they'll automatically bring you olives and bread which will they charge you later. Not a big deal (2€ or so) but not very professional.

Romantisches Lokal mit wenig Tischen (ruft vorher lieber an). Regionale , traditionelle top Küche und Wein. Sehr gut geeignet für ein feines Dinner. Das ganze hat jedoch auch seinen Preis :)

My husband is a big foodie in the US. Lots of great food from New Orleans to Philadelphia. We ate there tonight and he had the pork and prawns and said it was one of his top 10 meals of all time. He is very hard to please so this says a lot.

My husband and I were told this place was the BEST in town, and that we had to try it. We went and had the Cataplana and it was incredible. Everything made fresh and 100 % homemade from old family recipes. The service was top notch as well, we were treated like family and felt really welcome and comfortable. Would recommend, absolutely. Best meal we’ve had all month! Go!

The cataplana is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, atmosphere is great. It only has about ten tables. Wasn't busy the night we went, but it was midweek, out of season.

The real deal!
There’s not much more I can say that hasn’t already been said. We had the house cataplana and it was awesome. Everyone in the restaurant was wonderful and friendly. The portions were big and the house red wine was excellent. Just go and try for yourself.

Un bel ristorante vicino il centro storico di Faro. Un posto molto curato, con un paio di sale ben arredate dove si può mangiare diversi tipi di "Cataplana". Qualità del pesce superiore e prezzi molto contenuti. La gentilezza e la cortesia di tutto il personale vi accompagnerà durante la cena.

Piccolo locale a due minuti dal centro, personale gentilissimo e amichevole, il pesce è fresco della zona tranne i gamberi, si mangia il piatto locale cataplana, e si beve bene, la nostra cataplana era 55 da dividere in due, ci hanno anche offerto la ginginja a fine serata

J'ai A-D-O-R-E !
J'y suis allé un lundi soir en réservant , le restaurant était vide et un seul couple est ven u quasi à la fin de notre diner. Au debut ca étonne mais un peu normal vu l'emplacement un peu perdu.
Ce restaurant ne paie pas de mine de l'extérieur mais la salle a été refaite et est très sympa.
Le patron était très serviable, sympa, souriant.
On a pris une cataplana pour deux 75€ mais qui contenait 2 langoustes (petites), des couteaux, des palourdes, des langoustines, des moules, du saumon + autre poisson dont j ai oublié le nom.
C'était succulent, hyper copieux et finalement largement pour trois.
On a adoré ce petit restaurant et je regrette de n'avoir pas eu plus de temps pour y retourner

Recomenda-se a cataplana de lingueirão, e cataplana de lulas. O arroz de marisco o ponto... E com um pãozinho frito a acompanhar maravilhoso! Desejo de sucessos!!

My wife and I had an amazing dinner at taberna ze-ze. The waiter was welcoming and pleasant and recommended the shrimp and razor clam cataplana and a traditional 3 layer cake with fig, almond and carrot. Highly recommend this place!

Atendimento simpático, boa localização e espaço agradável. Qualidade aceitável mas preços exageradamente elevados. Éramos duas pessoas ao final da tarde para um petisco rápido, pedimos uma dose de lingueirão (bem servida) e uma dose de mexilhão (6 mexilhões), dois copos de vinho branco, duas "minis", uma dose de batata frita, uma sobremesa e dois cafés e pagámos 38€.

Sehr klein, früh kommen oder reservieren! Merkwürdige Preispolitik. 6 Miesmuscheln, wenn auch köstlich, für 9.50 sind arg teuer, die gute Portion pica pau für 8 Euro hingegen völlig ok und auch sehr lecker. Spezialität sind die Meeresfrüchte-Cataplanas für 2 Personen, sahen sehr gut aus. Insgesamt ist der Laden einen Besuch wert.

Peixe e marisco frescos com a garantia do proprietário que já anda nesse lide vários anos. A feijoada de lingueirão estava muito boa mas para mim a cataplana é que "partiu tudo". Carta de vinhos fraquita. Espaço acolhedor e ambiente familiar. O serviço é assegurado pelo proprietário que é uma simpatia. Televisões pequenitas mas com canais desportivos. Preço acima da média para o tipo de restaurante que é. A repetir!

Amazing restaurant!!! Excellent Food and Service!!! Good price and generous portions!!! Great atmosphere and very clean. We went on a Saturday and got a table. We ordered razor clams (fresh), squid (fresh and delicious), quail (grilled and delicious) and steak and chips (cooked medium and delicious). This was plenty of food for 2 people. Sangria was fruity. Total cost was about €40. Waiter spoke English and there was an English menu. We wanted to go again the next day, but sadly they said that they were not open on Sunday. We would recommend this place to eat!

Best sea food I have had in Portugal so far... Really charming family restaurant, just get a bit of everything, definitely the razor clams, and try the quails, seriously, when are you going to have the occasion to eat quails again??
Oh also, get drunk on homemade sangria, the pitcher, not the glass
PS: I'm a poor European worker and I felt more than happy with the prices, just order double, it's cheap ;)
