Our dinner at Taberna Criativa was the best we have had whilst travelling. We decided we'd splurge and didn't care too much for how much it would cost as it was our last night in Portugal and not only were we surprised by the bill but by all the dishes and even more so how great the floor staff were. The food is so beautifully presented and delicious. The seafood entree, a story in itself playing homage to the Praia das Macas region. The confit piglet was exceptional and with nothing to fault on our starters and mains, we couldn't say no to dessert and it was certainly no disappointment either. The waiter was knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu and recommended some great wines to pair with our meals. It was a fine dining experience without the pretense, a celebration of local ingredients and modern Portuguese cuisine, which only set us back 100 euros. We expected and would readily have paid more, even checking the bill again to make sure nothing was missed. Overall, worth every penny and contemplated even going to have lunch there again the next day. Thank you to the team at Taberna Criativa.

First off, this place is highly overrated and expensive. We ordered the seafood appetizer. It came with a shrimp and some other sea creature, and some foam of some sort. Ok I guess. But in the world of, "We want plates," memes on Reddit... this deserved a photo. Served on a box of seashells. Pretentious and stupid. I'd have just wanted an actually appetizer. Sea foam doesn't make me hungry. And in a country of healthy sized portions for starter coarses... this was barely a tiny bite each at 9 Euros.
Then two of us ordered the lobster risotto. Wow, it was like Chef Boyardee. I was very disappointed.
Wife ordered the seared pork dish. That was the only one at the table that got something tasty.
Then my kid had a spaghetti dish. It was ok.
For the price, and the overratings I give it 2 stars, because wow what a disappointment. The service was good. So I added 1 star to what would have been only 1 star.
I mean, maybe I should have known by the name that the place was gonna be pretentious, but it was close to where we were staying and we were tired.
I won't go back.
If you check my reviews, I don't just give out negative reviews just to be mean. I try to explain myself. And I give out plenty of 5s.
This place just made me, well, feel like an idiot for going in the first place.

דעות המשפחה חלוקות. אני ואוכלי הסטייק נהננו מאוד, חוויה מדהימה אבל אוכלי הניוקי ומאכלי הים קצת התאכזבו. קחו תזמן, מסעדת שף במחיר מצחיק. הזמינו מקום מראש או קחו סיכון שתישארו בחוץ.

Excelente restaurante para partilhar com boa companhia. Fomos em casal e dois filhos. O menu degustação é bastante criativo e saboroso, mantendo o paladar e sabores bem tradicionais portugueses.
As crianças comeram entrecôte que estava igualmente muito apelativo.
Para terminar as sobremesas foram o auge da refeição. O pastel de nata é divinal.

12 sur 10. Superbe cuisine, créative comme la bien nommée Taberna. Un délice du début à la fin, une expérience inoubliable , digne d'un grand chef, qui est en plus extrêmement sympathique et est venu à notre table pour saluer et échanger. Félicitations également au service: attentionné et très compétent. Une belle équipe. Prix pour le soir bien au dessus de la moyenne portuguaise, menu avec vin: 80 Euros par personne. Cela les vaut!

We had the lunch menu (13 euros for three course meal + coffee + drink!!) and it was absolutely delicious. We had a fresh salad, a tasty risotto with roast beef and a wafer cake. Outstanding service and excellent presentation, I highly recommend this little gem!!

we were the only ones there for dinner for the first half of our dinner at this small restaurant, later another couple arrived, so service was good and very attentive . We had the beef for two , with potatoes and spinch. beef had way too many uneatable fatty parts, and spinach was too salty, but the potatoes were great and the Nata dessert was amazing. I personally felt like the dinner was slightly over priced for the quality of it.

Wow what a find having taken the train to Sitra on a cold and windy afternoon castles were not on the menu but when we stepped inside this Taberna decorated with wine and their boxes we felt very comfortable. When we scanned the menu and found a degustation at 60eur and another 16eur for paired wines we were sold. What followed was an amazing afternoon 3-4 hours of exceptional food and wine. The highlight the foie gras and sticky closely followed by the cannelloni of cuttle fish, prawn and scallop. Service was both friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. I recommend this establishment if you enjoy food and ambience. Have had some great food in Portugal and recommend this as a day trip you will not be disappointed. Love from Australia :-).

Am Wochende kein Mittagsmenü. Wir haben ein Entrecote für 2 Personen gegessen. Der Preis war 28 € für beide zusammen. Es war sehr gut und genug zum satt werde. Ein gutes Glas Rotwe7n für 3,50 € war ein perfekter Begleiter. Sehr schönes Ambiente mit sehr guter gehobener Küche.

Restaurant is nicely decorated, staff super friendly and food was excellent. There is a vegetarian option which is always appreciated. We had the lunch menu they serve weekly (first course, main course / 3 choices, a drink / wine or beer or soda or water, dessert, coffee or herbal infusion) for 13€. Unbeatable considering some of the fast food options around.

What a sensational place. We did a day trip to Sintra and wanted to do a nice lunch for my birthday, so we chose this place based on their ratings. It was just excellent, and one of the best meals we have had in Portugal. High-end restaurant with a sublime wine list and a sommelier to help you with your selection. We had bubbles, two corses each, a beautiful red from the Douro Valley and dessert / port and it was €100 total, I think great value for the quality of food and the experience we had. We'd go back again!

This must be one of the best meals I've had in Portugal. It's proper Portuguese food with a modern spin and just perfectly executed. Not overdone, but creative (as the name of the place suggests). Also, it's one of the few places that is not designed to cater exclusively to foreign tourists. I have been to Portugal several times and I would easily consider this the best dining experience I've had here.

Mindenkinek ajánlom, aki Sintraban szeretne egy finomat ebédelni!☺ Ebédmenüt ettünk, és ár-érték arányban nagyon jó volt. Különböző opciók voltak elő- és főételnek, illetve járt hozzá desszert, választható ital (ház bora vagy bármilyen üdítő) és kávé is. Így fizettünk 28 eurót 2 főre (plusz borravaló).

평이 너무 좋아서 기대하고 갔는데 메인 음식이 너무 짰어요...ㅠㅠ 가격도 정말 괜찮고 서비스도 좋은데 리뷰에 있던 생선구이랑 소고기는 없고 메뉴가 좀 바뀌었더라구요. 돼지고기 리조또 먹었는데 너무 짜고 고수맛이 많이 나서 반 남겼습니다....ㅠㅠㅠㅠ 에피타이저 샐러드랑 디저트는 정말 맛있었어요

La calidad de la comida no nos pareció acorde con los precios. Ni el bacalao, ni el arroz, ni la pasta merecen la pena. Por otro lado la cantidad del foia es mínima para lo que esperábamos. A destacar la lentitud del servicio. El sitio es muy bonito y céntrico.

A jewel within many miles even this is close to Cascais. Beef steak for two close to perfection, while baby potatoes and sote vegetable were complimenting to the steak as Romeo and Juliet. Service is super and ambience is romantic. Lunch for two...high end...29 euro...what else can you add?

Went there for lunch so you ‘have’ to choose from the set lunch menu: € 13,- for a 3-course lunch, 1 drink (beer/wine/soda) and coffee. And if that’s not enough already, you get some bread with olive oil and butter to start with as well. You would almost think there’s something wrong. But no, the staff is more than friendly, the food is delicious, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the toilets are clean. We will come back for sure and this time for the a la carte dinner!

One of the best lunches we had in Lisbon/Sintra.

Очень маленький уютный ресторанчик. С крайне вежливым персоналом. Именно ресторан (не бар, не таверна - но и не напыщено), светлая красивая атмосфера, достойнейшая кухня, сервировка. Приготовлено было вкусно и необычно. Нашли это место по отзовам (известный шеф-повар). Остались довольные. На двоих оставили 45 евро : отличное вино, очень вкусный суп-пюре морковный с имбирем, осминог и мясо были превосходные. Порции средние. Также подавались местный хлеб с оливками и маслом. Можно резервировать стол заранее. Очень романтично пить вино за столиком у окна, глядя на пешеходную симпатичную улочку.

Считаю этот ресторан лучшим в Синтре. Авторская кухня Виктора Роша чудо как хороша. Сочетание цена-качество отменное. Креативность исключительная. Дружеское , доброжелательное отношение персонала ресторана. Контакт шефа кухни с посетителями подкупающе-приятный. Очень рекомендую.

If you can only have 1 meal in sintra, have it hear. The service was great, the food was the best I have had in a long time.

Esperamos horrores e o Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo não estava grande coisa. O risotto de sapateira estava excelente.

Great food and amazing value for money. 12 euro for a complete lunch menu (3 courses incl. Coffee and a drink). The quality of the food was superb. Service was really friendly and knowledgeable as well. Highly recommended.

Very friendly staff, good choice of Wine, good food. We enjoyed the 4-course lunch menu, and all for 12 €!!

Buena comida, no fué espectacular pero todo muy bueno. Buen ambiente, buen servicio, buena comida, buen hilo musical (jazz) y buen precio. El postre era pequeño pero entraba con el menú de un lunes de trabajo y estaba delicioso.

Outstanding and thoughtful Portuguese cuisine, by far the best in downtown Sintra. Great ambiance, good wine list and fair prices.

Although the food was good I wouldn't go back again and won't be able to recommend it in good conscience. Service was slow but worse than that it was deceptive. Just to give an example we had already ordered our appetizers and food and were waiting for them to arrive... At some point one waiter came by to our table asking is if we cared to 'try' one of the chef's specialties which conveniently he already had wrapped up in a paper and was ready to put on our table. It felt like a 'compliments if the chef' offering since he had brought it with him, except we were charged 8 euros for it at the end. They also added extra things to the bill that we didn't have. When the waiter saw us actually looking at the bill he came by and he knew already what he had double charged us for .... If you suspected we didn't order that 4th glass of wine why did you charge us for it in the first place?? of course at the end he suggested we review them on trip advisor to help them out

Excelente restaurante! Espaço bastante bonito, bem decorado e confortável. A ementa é curta mas muito bem confeccionada, desde as entradas, passando pelo prato e terminando na sobremesa. O risotto de polvo estava saboroso e o vinho que acompanhou deu-lhe o toque final. Maravilha... parabéns!

Un restaurante 5 estrellas por la atención del personal y por la calidad de la comida..Merece la pena ir y disfrutar de la carta. Éramos dos personas u pedimos un entrante de atún, un rissoto cada uno y un postre cada uno, para beber agua ah y los típicos entrantes que te ponen en Portugal en los restaurantes y si te los comes te los cobran, aquí no te los cobran. El total de la cuenta fueron 50 euros, pero bien empleados. Repito que merece la pena.
