Nice setting. Excellent service. Wine and food were the most expensive I have encountered in Portugal and taste wise relatively mediocre. I would not return.

starters kept pouring to our table, but we were not told the price and / or given the choice whether we wanted them. More transparency on this. Service was fast and kept interrupting our conversation. The atmosphere is a bit too touristic. The food was not too bad but def. not worthy the price. I am not going back.

Great starter menu with a lot of small dishes, main course was wonderful (i had the rarely cooked toro), good accompanying wines and à delicious pear in cinamon sauce for désert. I Will be back

I really wanted to give this a better rating as it came recommended. You will be brought starters as soon as you sit for €15 per person. The Somme is great. The lamb shoulder is average with a lot of salt, but the venison with the truffle is amazing. We had issues with our dessert as we were served what we didn’t order and then ordered what we wanted and in the meanwhile we never received the coffee that we ordered until we reminded them. Overall the restauarent does not deserve the price that is charged, but some of the food is very good.

Cosy and historical place to serve the best of portuguese gastronomy. High quality restaurant. Expensive.

Good location but too many issues: starters are “easy” with too much wheat stuff (we ended up splitting a main as a starter). The mains were a problem: while the Wild Touro Tornedo was excellent the Lamm was a disgrace. Service: attentive but kind of lost - trying to read the guest and getting it all wrong! Overall not worth a second visit.

A brilliant experience, with friendly and accommodating staff. We made a late-night reservation on a Friday night, however half our party ran 30 minutes late. With the kitchen closing soon, the staff were brilliant in making sure we all got the full fantastic A Travessa experience. Another unexpected and pleasant surprise was how fantastically they dealt with my dietary restrictions due to pregnancy. Usually I would have to ask about each individual dish, and whether things are pasteurized or not. Not the case here, I was assured from the outset once I explained that everything was pasteurized, and when going through the menu they pointed out the things I could and could not have. They even joked about my ‘special’ white wine (apple juice) which was served along with the tables bottle. Dining out now is sometimes a stressful experience with what to and what not to eat, whereas here the whole staff were lovely, compassionate and understood. As an additional bonus when talking about our plans for the next day we got some fantastic recommendations from one of the waiters about things to/not to do, at some of the lesser known beauty spots. Cannot wait to return! Thank you so much to the A Travessa team!

Absolutely excellent restaurant. Delicious set starters, which are well worth the money. Excellent main course and dessert. Wonderful service a great overall experience in an amazing setting. Not to be missed when visiting Lisbon.

Amazing restaurant! We really enjoyed the appetizers. The location and the ambience are very beautiful too. It is not cheap but I think it is a wonderful experience.

Very cool ambiance but the food was very expensive and not great. Also the selection was too eclectic and a little all over the place. If youre looking for a fancy experience, this is your spot. But I think you can probably do better in Lisbon.

Sobremesa a mesma coisa, ok. A conta no entanto caríssima.

In two years it was the third time I went to „A Travessa“, I wanted to show some family members a very nice and charming portuguese restaurant. The welcome was warm, the entries very delicious, the dishes with meat also, the side bars (two different mashed potatoes and vegetables) cold, the service disastrous (a piece of meat was falling in one of our wine glasses, good wine!, while the waitress was walking around the table with meat of porco preto on a very big knife. Every two minutes waterrefill that interrupted our conversation, while refilling, a servant poored over the table) the handling of the unhappy events was more than unfriendly and it seemed to be of no one’s interest. All the responsables were gone, the promised extra glass was forgotten! (no sign of attention!) all what we got was a „Oh, sorry“. I was and I still am absolutely disappointed.

Probably the worst restaurant I've ever visited. The owner was rude and pushy and knew NOTHING about good food! or service, the food was appalling the only good thing was the ambience. When i was there is was full of drunk businessmen on expenses (who had no clue of what they were eating) and tourists! Way over priced for barely edible food!

My wife and I both thought this was one of the best meals we ever had. We had did a tasting menu plus entrees. Setting in a converted convent is romantic. Probably a bit more expensive than other places in Lisbon (which seems to generate low star reviews here) but still a bargain compared to other cities. We ate at other restaurants with more buzz in Portugal, but this was our favorite.

A Travessa came strongly recommended, and it was a beautiful place with a rich atmosphere. Everything else was a disappointment, as the staff was either to busy or somewhat rude. The food was pricey and did not live up to our expectations.

Food quality was okay. The sommelier Diogo was wonderful with his recommendations and nice person to talk with. I found it expensive.... 5 euros for a poorly shucked oyster is obscene. They need to work on the taste of the food.

The food was delicious, the venue, staff and atmosphere were lovely. The reason I am only giving this restaurant 3 stars is 1). For the speed of service - the starters started coming before we'd even got our wine and we were continuously asked to order our mains even though we hadn't even looked at the menu. I suggest letting them know up front if you want a leisurely meal and telling them to bring the starters when you are ready. 2). The owner was a very rude man with seemingly no personal skills at all, he kept rushing us to order and rolling his eyes to heaven when we weren't ready. Not what you expect when paying this sort of money. Such a shame for a restaurant that I could have easily given 5 stars.

Excellent food and service. The starters were really enough for a main course- great to have so much variety and all delicious. The service was extremely attentive and friendly and the setting was beautiful.

Great food, great location, very friendly waiters. Quite pricey, especially for Lisbon, but the quality is good. The starters are great, as were the desserts.

Très forte attente. Service très approximatif : pushy pendant Les entrées, puis absent. Table inconfortable.

They automatically serve 8 appetisers depending on the season, the black pork sercreto and the clams were winners Then some one comes to take your order for main course. This could all be explained from the get go, it's not. The foods delicious. But the wine guy here rocks. Order safe if you want but I'd let him order for me every day. Would love to return in the warmer months when the terrace is open. But restos vaulted ceiling is beautiful none the less.

Great unique dishes, try the shashlyk 2, taste really good, also try the duck. Went on Monday evening, booked ahead just in case, it was pretty quiet and I love it here.

The starters are a bit rapid fire coming out in an almost hurried fashion. The monkfish was decent but the sauce was lacking real flavor.

Lovely setting for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Good service. The food was so delicious starting with an array of starters (similar to a tasting menu that you don't choose but are served) then a really great main served with tasty vegetables followed by a good choice of desserts. Knowledgeable wine waiter who selected us a good red wine and sparkling wine. Price matches food quality and location

Terrible Cost: Well above Ritz, but otherwise much worse Food: Mandatory starters are some small dishes much worse than any tapas in Spain, with an exception of oyster, which is hardly disappointing in Lisbon and you can have half a dozen in Intercontinental at the price of the starter for one person - and they don't have the right oyster fork. Main courses below average western restaurants in Europe. Environment and service: Terrible. Very crowded. Waiters just pretend to be smart and look up to the ceiling, ignoring the messy starter dishes on our table. They kicked my chair 11 times in 2 hours, 2 times my father's, and 2 times our bags. They use very plastic glasses. Don't trust Michelin and other awards in Iberian Peninsula. Go straight forward to the best hotel in town if you can pay.

It is on the expensive side for Lisbon but "oh so worth it" compared to more central restaurants where the price is not met by the quality. Here everything is tasty and fresh. The house policy is to give you a taste of Portugal with their assorted starters from roasted peppers, to clams in a white wine and garlic sauce, roasted black pork etc... Then a choice of fishes or meats we tried one of each and were both impressed! The sommelier was of great advice for a perfect pairing! And let's not forget the place itself, a perfect decor to go with the food! We are considering visiting the restaurant a second time during our week here!

What an amazing restaurant. We were ready to walk after the appetizers as they were perfect. But the entrees (wild bull, John Dory, foie gra) were amazing too... So we stayed. Dessert was yummy too.

(facebook: jorge santos forreta)

This is a "must" for visiting Lisbon - romantic, historic, delicious. We sat down & they started bringing incredibly delicious bits... wontons stuffed w/ goat cheese w/ a pumpkin relish... thin slices of crispy-edged black pork... clams... fortunately, they did so before we looked @ menu or we'd probably have declined this €12.50/person appetizer -- which would have been a tragedy! It was the best part of the meal, and one of the best tastes we've experienced in the many AMAZING restos of Lisbon. In fact, one could just go for this part of the meal and make it an amazing light supper. Also had John Dory fish which was wow, crisp-edged, buttery, bright... partridge stuffed and en croute which was a little "meh" in comparison... filet mignon of bull which was incredibly tender and delicious, but a little too red even for the "rare lover" in our group. Dessert was good, but not amazing. One of the best parts of this place is the incredible atmosphere - I wish we had a good pix to share. High arching stone ceiling, GIANT fireplace, candles everywhere... felt like a step back in time. Out the door for 4 of us (including 3 mains, 1 glass of wine) was under €200... so not trivial, but a treat that felt like one! PS. We slipped in on a Monday night around 8:30 pm w/o reservations - place was pretty full... so we felt lucky to get the table.
