Sushi is not bad, but very over- priced for what it is. I feel like you could get the same quality for a much lower price elsewhere. 12 pieces for 22 euro is a bit much for a mid quality meal.

Had a chance to lunch here a couple months ago. I can confirm that the lunch menu was high quality authentic Japanese food at an affordable price. I had a salmon chirashi, perfectly executed... The tamago cubes were slightly sweet with a hint of dashi as they should be. But it seems like they are no longer serving lunches! We went knocking on their door on Tuesday only to be told "sou jantar". It looks like the opening hours are updated to dinner only on their Facebook page and Zomato. But other places still inaccurately reflect that they are open for lunch e.g. Google maps, the fork, and the hours posted on their door

Were turned away with the explanation that they were booked for the entire night, however there were 6 people in the restaurant and every single table sat open.

숙소 바로 옆이라 찾아간 일식집..아침저녁으로 제밥 찬 공기에 우동이나 라면이 먹고 싶었는데 마침 옆집. 나베우동(11유로) 한 그릇 원샷. 간장을 한방울만 덜 넣었으면 하는 약간의 아쉬움

Very cosy restaurant, specially the private room! You can feel some of the Japanese glam over here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Food is neat (thumbs up to the ramen!) although it is a bit on the pricey side.

很失望的經歷，味道非常一般，價格亦十分昂貴（2人消費95歐），清酒煮蜆（13. 5歐），但只有7個蜆，所有食物的份量相當少。刺身，丼飯，味增湯，天婦羅的味道都極為一般。相當於中國二三線日本餐廳的水平，但價格卻貴很多

This place is so Japanese. They’ve even got traditional Japanese dining tables, the sitting style ones! The environment was decent and quiet. The most of the staffs are Japanese as well. I was impressed. The food was delicious, of course. I went there for the 12€ lunch deal twice. If you have a tight budget, come here for the lunch deal. It’s not just an authentic food experience but more a cultural experience.

Comida japonesa extremamente saborosa! Ficámos foi um bom bocado à espera que viesse e os pratos vieram alguns mais cedo outros mais tarde deixando alguma pessoas com a comida à frente mas a esperar que os outros fossem servidos, presumo que seja porque é tudo feito na hora mas para o preço achei a disparidade de espera um bocado grande.
Aconselho a quem goste de boa comida japonesa e não se importe de gastar um bocadinho.

Japonês tradicional. Excelente comida. Come muito bem gastando algo em torno de 25 euros. Comemos Salmão Teriyaki, Futomaki, Tempura Sobá e Nabeyaki Udon, todos muito saborosos.

Pedimos dois menus executivos. Pelo que ficamos muito bem servidos. Só não estava à espera de ir ao Bonsai e comer um hambúrguer de porco, mas pertencia ao menu executivo. Os niguiris e sashimis com peixe fresquinho. Tudo muito bem confecionado e com muito sabor. Irei lá novamente, mas para comer à carta, estou curiosa.

Bonsai is a very good Japanese restaurant in Lisbon with an excellent selection of sushi as well as rotating daily specials. If the pork belly or clams in sake broth are on the menu, order them! They're excellent.

Very high quality original Japanese food, served with kindness, charm and friendliness. Very (very) acceptable prices. The Monk fish liver is a dream.
Highly recommended.

なかなか日本人に合う寿司が見つからない中、このお店は日本人にも合う寿司を提供してくれる希少なお店。何人かのスタッフは日本語も通じてすごくくつろげる。価格は観光地価格、市街地価格なんだろうか。それとも輸入食材が価格を押し上げているのだろうか。リスボンの人は日本はなんでも高いというイメージをもっているようだが、全くそうは思わない。物とクオリティによるが、和食に限らずクオリティが同程度のレストランはむしろリスボンの方が高い気がする。現在ユーロ130円。

A comida estava mesmo muito boa. Vale verdadeiramente a visita pela comida tradicional japonesa, pelo sushi tradicional e pela qualidade dos ingredientes.
No entanto o espaço está muito descuidado e o serviço é verdadeiramente mau. Duas coisas imperdoaveis e que a comida servida no restaurante não merecem. Quem está a servir à mesa é a face visível do restaurante e tem de ter a preparação adequada.
É incompreensível o tempo que os pedidos demoraram a ser recolhidos.
É incompreensível, num restaurante onde se serve sushi, que a pessoa que está a servir os pratos não saiba que peixes são.
É incompreensível que os pratos venham quase todos ao mesmo tempo, deixando a mesa completamente atafulhada.
Fiquei com a sensação que o restaurante em certos aspectos parou no tempo. Espero sinceramente que a estratégia mude e não me deparar com um cenário destes numa próxima visita.

Das ist nicht authentisch sondern schmutzig und ungepflegt. Wir hatten nur kleine Vorspeisen und hoffen, dass die Küche weniger unrein ist und wir morgen gesund bleiben! Die Preise sind für dieses Ambiente unverschämt hoch!

i found a bit hard to find a good asian restaurant in lisbon, even for japanese food which lisbon has several restaurant of it. but bonsai was an exception. the taste was quite original and the price was reasonable too. for lunch, they only had fix menu, but the price was cheap. i went there and the €12 set menu was great.

Authentic Japanese restaurant in Barrio Alto. We went for lunch and chose the sushi and sashimi mix to start and the the salmon teriyaki. Service was impecable and efficient. The quality of the food was top notch.

한식보다 일식이 땡겨서 감 장어덮밥 진짜 존맛 ㅠㅠ 딱 생각하는 그 맛인데 그 맛이 나서 넘 좋았음 데리야끼의 그맛.. 양은 적당.. 1숟가락 1장어 가능 근데.. 물을 250ml로 가르켰는데 나온건 500ml 물을 시키지말던가 시키려면 정확하게 말로 하는 것을 추천

やっぱり海の近くだけあって新鮮で美味しいお寿司でした。予約を取り損ねオープン前に訪ねると、最後のひと席。
シャリの大きさもちょうどよく、一工夫ありの握り、bonsai太巻きも美味しい！中に入ってたほうれん草の味が優しくマッチ
お店の方も気持ちの良い対応で、中でも日本語の上手なお嬢さんが礼儀正しく可愛かったです。近かったら通いたいお店。事前の予約をお勧めします。

Worst experience EVER! The Asian women here who take your order are so rude you can't even understand their English. The male owner is the main chef and he and his son usually spend their time in the bar serving drinks and getting hammered, the father almost always becomes aggressive with his employees while the son looks on worriedly. Very poor service i don't recommend it. The only thing they have going is their location that's about it.

The lunch special is an amazing deal. 10 euros for miso, salad, a sushi/sashimi amuse voucher, rice, and the special of the day. Fish quality was good and the service very friendly.

Coming from someone that has been around the world eating great sushi, my taste buds are a little subjective. While I think its one of the top ones in Portugal, its only at best mid-level sushi joint compared to some of the cities around the world. The service was great, but just a little expensive for the quality of food.

Espectacular. Probé la panceta y el atún. Delicioso. Impresionante. La panceta se deshacía en la boca. Probablemente hecha a baja temperatura. El atún crudo a soplete, hecho delante tuya, un sabor suave perfectamente combinado con el jengibre. Me he quedado impresionado. Repetiré y lo recomendaré.

The first Japanese restaurant to open in Lisbon still holds its place as one of the top Japanese restaurants of the city. The authentic Japanese decoration and authentic food makes for a wonderful small getaway to Japan even if just for the duration of the meal. The food, besides tasting authentic, is delicious and wonderfully prepared, the drinks menu is pretty vast and the beer, for those who enjoy it, is served in an ice-cold glass for that enjoyable taste. 5/5

Only been there a couple of times but had an awesome meal! The small tables over tatami mats also add to the whole Japanese experience. The staff was one of the friendlest I've ever came across with. And the food was delicious!

Authentic Japanese food, fresh and delicious! The friendly waiters have good knowlegde of the food and sakes. When they even told us they serve nattō (or "never, never" as the Japanese jokingly call it) we were 'sold'. Finally we found a real Japanese restaurant in Lisbon!

Ora aqui está uma instituição do sushi em Lisboa. Excelente relação qualidade/preço. Serviço muito atencioso e como a maior parte dos japoneses que conheço desfazem-se em mil desculpas se alguma coisa não corre de acordo com o estabelecido e corrigem imediatamente.
Quando entramos pela primeira vez ficamos um pouco intimidados, especialmente se não conhecemos a culinária japonesa. Muitas coisas escritas em caracteres japoneses e a ementa não traz tradução, embora usando caracteres do nosso alfabeto. Rapidamente isso desaparece porque a simpática funcionária, com muita paciência nos explica alguns pontos. Atenção aos especiais, que são os produtos frescos que não estão na ementa normal mas que nos são apresentados num quadro com papéis escritos à mão. Dentro destes se tiverem a sorte de encontrar ouriço do mar não hesitem.
Na minha última visita comecei com a minha tradicional Misoshiro (gosto de sopas, muito embora isto não seja propriamente servido como sopa) e segui para uma Tempura de Legumes. A massa estava estaladiça, au point. Depois pedi uma Sushi to Sashimi muito bem apresentado e rico em variedade de peixes. Terminei com um delicioso gelado de chá verde. Tudo isto muito bem regado com uma garrafinha de Sake ligeiramente arrefecido, comme il faut. (Pequena dica: se pedirem sake barato peçam para aquecer :) disfarça um pouco o sabor demasiado alcoólico, como se faz com a aguardente).

Nos ha encantado el sitio. La cena estaba buenisima. Probamos sushi, arroz con tempura , takoyaki y tempura soba y TODO estaba buenissimo. Productos de calidad y trato del producto fantastico. El sitio es precioso ya que comimos en un reservado y la sala es preciosa. Recomiendo reservar antes de ir porque suele estar lleno

Très décevant. La propreté des lieux laisser à désirer, il ne suffit qu’à regarder le plafond ou la moquette pour voir que c’est mal entretenu. Les poissons n’étaient pas agrémenté ou rehausser avec rien. Le prix était bien raisonnable, mais pour la qualité et le goût, c’était bien trop cher payé.

Excellent food and equally good staff. The food is fresh and typically Japanese, which can be difficult to find in Lisbon with just sushi places all around town. The atmosphere is truly great, and even better considering that when I go there there’s always local Japanese people, which is a sign that the food is also great to people that are more experienced with Japanese cuisine. Amazing place and amazing food overall, would definitely recommend as the best Japanese restaurant in Lisbon!

Espaço agradável com colaboradores simpáticos e prestáveis. Demoram algum tempo a tirar os pedidos, mas bastante aceitável o tempo de entrega dos pratos. Adorei o "cartaz" dos "pratos do dia", são sugestões bastantes agradáveis e diferentes. Acho mesmo que é o ponto forte deste restaurante. Utiliza ingredientes de grande qualidade, pelo que o carpaccio e o sushi são muito saborosos e os pratos confeccionados também. Não gostei da música ambiente (música clássica), um pouco alta e não me pareceu apropriada.

As cinco estrelas são pelos menus de almoço de terça a sexta, os funcionários, o ramen dos sábados (por encomenda), o menu especial no quadro para jantares, a música de piano, o peixe fresco... Ok, afinal são seis estrelas, e o firmamento do Bonsai não acaba aí.

Needs a lot of a bit of TLC. The place, decor and layout is in dire need of a change and a spruce up. On the day I was there, there was a broken toilet and the smell was giving a bad odour off to the entire place.
The food was ok and the service was very nice.

Was apparently the first restaurant to offer Sushi in Lisbon. I give it marks for being reasonably priced and for not trying to be an in place for tourists. In fact most customers are locals. Fish is very fresh and staff are friendly. If you are looking for a wow decor, wow everything spot you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a down to earth, reasonably priced, liked by locals place, you will be delighted. Decor and especially lighting could use a touch of decorative adjustment, but I like it as it is.

Tanto quanto sei este foi o primeiro restaurante japonês a abrir em Lisboa. E é certamente um dos melhores. Para um espaço intimista, com produtos de alta qualidade é aqui que vão. A maioria dos produtos japoneses são produzidos pelos próprios e podemos aqui experimentar a verdadeira cozinha japonesa, para além do sushi. Uma pérola em Lisboa!

The chef prepared some delicious sushi that we had to eat on the spot while putting on our place. Sort of a ritual.... The sashimi was fresh and delicious too. One complain would be the Edamame green beans were cold and literally a small handful. Everything else was spot on!

I found this restaurant expensive and the food was extremely disappointing. I had chicken which was raw in the middle and had lumps of fat around the edges. Prawn tempura was €21. If you want an excellent Japanese restaurant in lisbon I would recommend 'seame'.

Along with Tomo, certainly one of thr best japanese cuisine restaurants in Portugal. The service is wonderful and so is the ambience. Reserve a low-table room or sit over the counter for the best experience. There are many daily chef specials to choose from. The tempura is perfect. You might want to try the chocolate truffles as well...

Un restaurant japonais. Ici pas de fusion, pas urban, pas hype. Mais simplement un poisson excellent et des plats traditionnels. Un régal. Coup de coeur pour le Uromaki Salmon Skin.
