Great ambiance, coolest bathroom decor I have seen in Lisbon (or in Europe?). Had a lovely drink and the food was excellent. Super friendly and helpful staff. Last note, whoever was in charge of the music did a fantastic job!

We went to Mamasan today for lunch and it was absolutely perfect! The service was exceptional, the decor is lovely and the food is super fresh and tasty. They have a great lunch special with soup, three choices of skewers, a drink and coffee for a great price. Both the meat and the veggie skewers were delicious. Save room for dessert. They all sounded good, but we ordered the chocolate mouse and it was wonderful. Another reviewer said that Mamasan is exactly what Lisbon needs and they are right. We are very happy that it is in our neighborhood. This will be our new regular hangout.

A recent addition to Santos neighborhood near Lapa, this Japanese restaurant is going to be a hit if they keep the current wave. If you are not a fan of sushi and if you think Japanese cuisine is all about sushi and tend to stay away from it like me, this restaurant is certainly a pleasant surprise as their motto is “no sushi please.” Based on Japan’s BBQ chicken tradition Yakitori, a rather down to earth street food, Mamasan elevated it to a concept food and it serves not only chicken but rib eye steak and shrimp as well on the built-in charcoal bbq behind the bar. All the dishes are well marinated and very tasty. Chicken meat ball is a special treat. The side dishes, sweet potatoes, cabbage and eggplant find new life in this restaurant, again served grilled with sweet butter sauce. Launched by two young classmates from Lausanne Hotel school, Rishav and Adriano , it has sort of a hiphop atmosphere with no ear-deafening music but a nice bar. Their hospitality is awesome. And hard to avoid mentioning is their ultra elegant bathroom! They did not forget to install an electronic game machine in a separate tiny room in the bathroom area to complete the Japanese ambiance. Prices are modest and they offer a 12 Euro lunch menu. If you are curious what mamasan means, just google it.

Amazing food and super friendly service. Each dish we ordered was incredible in flavour - would highly recommend the broth, the aubergine and the rib eye steak dishes (though everything was so good it is hard to choose favourites!). Not to be missed!

The concept of a yakitori-ya is a long-time coming in Lisbon, glad to see that the soft lighting and typically delicious food I missed so much is now here at Mamasan. The lotus chips to start are renowned (and they're not stingy about them either!), the black pork skewer and the minced chicken are mouth-watering, and the fried rice and goma-ae sides make for a perfectly rounded meal. Hard to go wrong with the food, and they rotate desserts that all look fantasmo. The staff is wonderfully attentive and always keep a smile, despite the fact that the music doesn't really work/make the vibe (only complaint). Great start, really on=point food. P. S. reminder: yakitori is typically meant to be small dishes similar to tapas, petiscos, and so on - go for the quality, don't obsess about quantity!

Nice, chic yakitori bar, like the decor and especially the colourful japanese wallpaper in the restrooms. Traditional chicken skewers were great as were the wild prawns and ribeye. Really great creme brulee for desert. Cool vibe. good energy.

I had dinner here last Friday with some friends and I really have to recommend it! Food was amazing (finally a non-sushi Japanese in Lisbon!), very nice and professional staff and the atmosphere is just very cool! It’s a place you can’t miss!

O sitio é bonito e agradável, mas a comida não é nada de especial tendo em conta os preços que o restaurante pratica. Uma desilusão.

The best meal we had in Lisbon. The waiter was really friendly and very helpful at explaining the menu and dishes. We initially ordered 5 dishes but they were so amazing we ended up ordering nearly the whole menu. Couldnt fault any of the food. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Comida nada de especial e quantidades muito pequenas para os preços praticados. Os acompanhamentos pedidos chegaram muito depois de termos terminado as esperadas. O serviço devia ser mais agilizado.

Me and my partner stumbled across this restaurant due to following our nose in the streets when deciding we’re to eat that night. We was a little early and they wasn’t open yet so we decided to go for a drink and come back, we was the first customers in so we wasn’t sure what we was getting our self in for. The waiters was lovely and gave us some lotus root crisps and on first bite I know we was in for something really good because these crisps was SO tasty! We started with the chicken both as they recommended to start with this, and it was magical, like how the hell do you make something taste that good!?!! We tried one of every skewer in the menu. All was exceptionally good. Kurobuta and Tsukune was my favourite. I had a whisky cream brûlée for desert. Whenever Cream brûlée is on the menu I have it so I know them very well and can say this one of the best I’ve ever had! Only downside to the whole thing was we found them in the last day or else we would of been back for lunch! These guys are the first yakitori resturant in Lisbon and deserve to be a lot busier then they are!!!
