I'm writing this review after my first trip to Portugal. And even though my dining experiences here are nascent, I feel safe saying that this place is among the best in Lisbon. I say this based on a wonderful and flawless dining experience. The service and staff were welcoming and attentive. The wine selection was local and delicious. And the menu selection, ingredients, execution, and presentation were all terrific. So much so, that after our first dinner here, we immediately booked a table for the next night. This is among the best dining experiences I've had anywhere, and will be a regular stop should I return to this wonderful city.
Over our two visits, we tried nearly everything on the menu, and can say that Tuna, Shrimp, Octopus, and mushroom ragout are sublime. But the chicken, while simple and uncomplicated, was perfect with an unexpected taste of spice and lime. And it's when a kitchen nails the simple things that you can tell they're on their game. But then they show off a bit with their mojito palate cleansers, and carbonated candy (Pop Rocks) in their Panna Cotta and Chocolate Fondue cake.
Bottom line, Os Bons Malandros is an unassuming place that most people might walk right by. But it's exactly the kind of restaurant you should seek out when visiting this great city. Friendly and inviting, relaxing, and delicious. This was a highlight of our visit to Lisbon, and will be for you as well. Just make a reservation so you don't miss out, or you may end up eating here after 10PM.

Os empregados são simpáticos e termina aqui , falaram que era o melhor camarão das redondezas, a sala inundada pelo cheiro de comida , é bastante caro mas 40 minutos de espera por uma tapa é demais , saimos sem comer . Prometemos voltar para provar o melhor camarão . . .

We came here twice, first time being one of the best service and meals we have had in Lisbon. We returned 2 days later to find a different chef, waiter , ambiance. The food didnt come out for one hour, dishes we ordered previously came out differently, the service was appaling. Such a shame.

This is an amazing restaurant. You immediately feel that the people working there are driven by passion and want to provide you with the best experience. The place is very cozy and warm.
We went for some sharing plates and they were just absolutely superb. The meat was cooked perfectly. The bread was crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. The provided dressings mixed perfectly with the meat. All in all, this gets my full recommendation

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce restaurant et avons été accueilli sans réservation sous la condition de libérer la table dans 2h.
Les plats étaient bons et pas chers.

By far the best meal we had in Lisbon (although not the most expensive) and in all honesty probably the best meal I've had all year. Lovely staff and everything we ate and drank was top drawer. Particularly recommend the tuna dish with 'mojito spheres'. Shame it was our last night or I'd have gone back for more.

Shrimps, chicken and goat cheese tapas are amazing. Also try the tuna tapas with home made mojito bubbles.

Très bon. Petites tapas à partager, pas excessif (pull pork sandwich a 6€, thon mariné au citron avec avocat à 8€, dessert très bon à 4€), petite salle sympa et cosy, bon choix de bières et de vins, serveur accueillant et parlant bien anglais. Je recommande ! Bon courage si vous y allez à pied par contre

Espaço aconchegante e serviço simpático. Pedi o coração de alcatra no ponto médio mal com batatas e migas de espinafre. A carne veio bastante mal passada; o molho estava saboroso. Achei os recipientes em que a comida foi servida nada práticos, foram um empecilho na hora de comer.
Meu marido pediu ganso de porco e as batatas dele vieram frias no meio.
A sobremesa de pannacotta estava ok, mas achei a escolha de colocar doces estilo “pop rocks” em cima um pouco questionável. Não só eles não complementaram o sabor em nada mas também explodiram na minha garganta causando desconforto. Se a presença de “pop rocks” na pannacotta fosse mencionada no cardápio talvez eu teria pedido outra coisa.

Went without reservation and they squeezed us in despite being very busy. Great value food and drink and friendly staff. Only thing that would put us off going back was the owners/ waiters friends seemed to pop in every couple of minutes and sit at different tables drinking

Great restaurant right in the middle of the charismatic Portuguese neighborhood - Bica! The place is very nice and the service is excellent. Here you can taste some of the greatest Portuguese tradicional food with very good quality and a very good price quality ratio. We were a big group of friends so we asked for some different food to share and try all of them. Definitely worth to visit!

Went here on a whim, without a reservation, and they squeezed us in being super accommodating. Great wines, very good food, best dinner we had in Lisbon by far. Slightly more expensive than the normal but nothing over priced! Absolutely recommend the prawns...best I've ever had!

Endroit sympa, nous étions 2 et n'avions pas de réservation et ça n'a pas été un problème . Pas trop d'attente pour les plats. Cependant il nous a été servi un thon à la fraîcheur très très moyenne. J'ai demandé au serveur si l'odeur très forte du thon était normale, ce à quoi il m'a répondu le thon c'est comme ça. Je n'ai jamais senti de thon avec cette odeur, ni goûté de poisson qui pique la langue... Il n'a même pas chercher à savoir ce qu'il s'était passé lorsqu'il récupéra les assiettes à peine touchées.
Au moment de payer, le patron avait oublié mon plat sur l'addition, ce que je lui fit remarqué. Il a simplement rectifié la note pas de merci, désolé ou autre....
Je n'y retournerai pas.

Very nice place and great food! It's a tiny place, providing fusion food in small tapas like dishes with nice trendy ambiance! Try the shrimps marinated in garlic and coriander along with the octopus and the pulled pork! Amazing food! Very nice service! Super friendly staff! Amazing food and friendly service. The garlic prawns, tuna with avocado, octopus and cod were all cooked to perfection. Tender, tasty and healthy. Paired with a good wine list, very happy.

Todo riquísimo y los camareros de 10, pero eso sí las cantidades escasas. Pedimos pulpo y gambas y las salsas estaban de toma pan y moja (que es lo que hicimos). Ya sabemos que el pulpo está caro pero contad con un tentáculo o dos si tenéis suerte. Será que es el precio a pagar como local de moda.

Friendly staff. Really good food. We had a cod plate that was really tasty with a great white wine that our waiter recommend. It is a popular place, crowded and quite noisy which is why I rate it 4 stars.

Five stars just is just not enough.If you like food then you should try this place..........If you love food then you should live here because it is simply sublime. It is not a gastro bar , it is simply the best restaurant in Lisbon. We stayed in Lisbon for 7 days and we went here 4 times...we only did'nt go on our last evening because it was closed. Tiago and the whole team are amazing and the food is simply delicious. When you travel to new places it can be a lottery when you eat out. Os Bons Melandros just makes eating out a pleasure....and it's not only the quality of each dish they serve. It's the hospitality, friendiness and warmth that you are recieved with ......and then there are the shrimps. Not only that, Tiago mixes one mean Gin and Tonic. Just book and go because this restaurant really helped make our holiday truely great

Très bonne adresse, située en haut du funiculaire de Bica. J’y suis allé 2x cette semaine sans réservation, mais il vaut mieux le faire pour dîner après 20h. Les camarãos (gambas) sont extra et bien servis pour un prix raisonnable. Le patron, très sympa, parle correctement le français et maîtrise parfaitement l’anglais. Il m’a conseillé un Sauvignon blanc portugais magnifique et la carte des vins est riche de belles bouteilles de vins du Douro et de l’Alentejo.

Servico otimo, empregadas/os e a dona sao rapidos , profissionais e super simpaticos. Os cocktails sao o maximo e o preco em conta. Comida saborosa e bem apresentada. Sobremesa de chorar por mais. Cadre sympa, la déco est jolie et l'accueil/service agréable. Bon rapport qualité-prix pour le quartier (pas facile de trouver un endroit qui se démarque dans ce quartier très touristique). La plupart des mets sont bien travaillés et bons. Petit bémol sur le dessert, carrot cake pas top mais à refaire avec plaisir !

Restaurante algo difícil de recomendar. Sinceramente a experiência não foi negativa porque o atendimento foi simpático e competente, mas os pratos provados têm alguns problemas de conceção. Provei alguns petiscos e todos mostraram falhas, a saber: o queijo de cabra no forno com mel veio cozinhado em excesso mostrando apenas um pequeno núcleo de queijo cremoso; o atum em Lima com abacate estava desequilibrado na proporção de atum vs abacate (demasiado atum e de corte tosco) embora com ingredientes frescos e a esfera no final é um toque agradável; a Ciabatta de pernil tinha boa carne, saborosa, mas excesso de cebola e de pão; os preguinhos de Alcantara, mais uma vez com carne boa qualidade, estavam planos no sabor e mais uma vez com excesso de pão - há que ver que este pão utilizado é desinteressante e parece de supermercado. É difícil recomendar o restaurante com base no que provei, mas houve aspetos positivos como a sobremesa de “chocolat fondant”. No final das contas fica um palato e maxilar “cansados” e uma a ideia que há uma intenção de ser sofisticado, mas uma falha na materialização deste conceito.

Definitely get the shrimp, add rice/bread to use the sauce. Avoid the roasted pork, it taste very average and the side remains a heavy fishy smell

Well you don't need many words to describe it. It was a great dinner, not only we found typical products from Lisbon, but they were cooked with just a touch of creativity just enough to make it special. If you squish in the fact that the stuff was very kind and well spoken, it was the right mix for a great dinner.

Ordered the goat cheese filo pastry starter, octopus and the Brazilian stew main dishes. Filo goat cheese was incredible. However our main dishes took almost an hour from when we ordered them. The octopus was luke warm when it arrived and the Brazilian stew was a small vegetable dish comprised of some sliced peppers carrots and onions thrown together in a coconut curry sauce (no indication it was vegetarian). Service was slow, by the end we just wanted to leave.

We really enjoyed visiting this restaurant. We came in the evening to have some petiscos and a glass of wine. The place was quite full with multpile tables reserved. However, the staff was very friendly and they found a table available for us before one reservation started. The food and wine were good and served with an honest smile :) Worth a recommendation!

Amazing food, great atmosphere, in one of the most romantic cities on the planet. The Octopus with potatoes and peppers was put of this world. I pared it with the draft Estella beer and capped off with JINJA. WOW, What a great meal!

A must-do for foodies. Everything you want in travel dining; A small, friendly and genuine experience. A lovely team of locals who are knowledgeable and helpful. Short wait times, surprisingly innovative food, with that delight factor (try the lime tuna with mojito bombs). Very reasonable prices, fast service and the the kind of decor that has you taking notes for your own home. Came highly recommended and will continue to share this little gem in Lisboa's culinary crown.

Absolut umwerfender Abend. Köstliche Kreationen und jedes Gericht perfekt zubereitet. Preis-Leistung fantastisch und die KellnerInnen sind alle sehr herzlich und aufmerksam!

Bons Maladros e com péssimo atendimento!
Nao fui nem atendido! Pior experiencia em lisboa! Por algum motivo que desconheço, a atendente servia todos que esperavam na fila menos a mim. Quando chegou a minha vez de sentar, apontou a mesa mas não questionou o que eu gostaria. Aguardei na mesa para que alguém viesse mas continuei não sendo atendido (O casal que ainda esperava na fila estava sendo servido enquanto ainda aguardavamos). Após cansar de esperar, resolvi me levantar e ceder a mesa já que aparentemente o meu atendimento não era uma prioridade! Um desrespeito q nunca passei na Europa. Inacreditável!

Vedo che non ci sono recensioni da un po' di tempo e quindi bisogna confermare la qualità di questo tipico ristorante.
Locale piccolo ma pieno di carattere, atmosfera carica di energia e di vitalità.
Una volta entrato, mi sono subito a mio agio avendo la sensazione di essere uno del luogo.
Camerieri giovani, efficienti e sempre con il sorriso.
Ottimo cibo che varia da pesce, carne e verdura, vini locali, cocktail ma io sono andato a birra.
Mangiato benissimo con un costo incredibilmente contenuto.
Tappa super consigliata per evitare i soliti locali per turisti.
Cenare in questo locale, sarà un bellissimo ricordo quando tornerete a casa.

The food here is a little off-the-wall, but that is also it's strength as everything is delicious AND interesting. The decor is warm and simple, while the servers are always ready with a smile and quick service. The pub/bar section has a good selection of drinks if you're not there to eat, with the same kind and attentive service. There's a nice window in to the kitchen for you to watch the chefs prepare your meal, if that's your kind of thing. All in all, great place and a great experience.

Ordered bread with garlic butter and another sauce cause it was basically the only vegetarian thing on the menue, what they didn’t write tho was that the other sauce had sausage in it. Couldn’t finish the bread and now im almost puking. Come on people, you need to write that on the menue.

Fantastic restaurant — got there on the early side (around 7 PM) on a Friday evening and it was almost empty. By the time we left an hour later it was completely packed and there were multiple parties on the waitlist. Either get here early or make a reservation!
We got the shrimp starter, the octopus entree, and the codfish entree, as well as two glasses of the recommended red wine (Circi). Total ended up being almost exactly 40 euros, and the food was top notch in the heart of Bairro Alto.

We may have spoilt our time in Lisbon by going here first because the food was so damn good. 5 star quality at a reasonable price, excellent staff and service. Book ahead to secure a table as the place is quite small and popular with locals.

Abbiamo avuto una grandissima cena in compagnia, abbiamo provato tutto il menu con gran soddisfazione abbinando degli ottimi vini! Il proprietario con cui abbiamo scambiato due chiacchere è stato molto simpatico e disponibile.
Rapporto qualità prezzo fantastico!
Inoltre la zona offre ottimi spunti sia per il pre- che per il post-cena!

3 plats, 2 desserts, 2 verres de vins et 1 bouteille d'eau pour 32€ au total.

Aufgrund der sehr guten Beurteilungen hatten wir uns dieses Restaurant für unseren letzen Abend in Lissabon aufgehoben.
Absolut enttäuschend.
Wir waren zu viert und hatten entsprechend eine breite Auswahl der Speißen bestellt. Bestnote für das servierte Essen NOTE 5-.
Hier gibt es den absolut schlechtesten Pulpo den wir je gegessen hatte.
Das Lokal würde ich nicht mal meinem schlimmsten Feind empfehlen.
Nie wieder!!!

The best restaurant I've been to in Lisbon! Fresh food, amazing combination of flavours and very nice staff that makes the environment around very cozy and welcoming. You must try the deserts, they are unforgettable. :)

Great place to eat and to enjoy a good glass of wine. It also has the famous Catalan beer (damm). It's affordable, cosy, friendly and the squid was delicious.

WOW... This place doesn't serve the known, but shows their chef experiments and finds combinations that will blow your taste buds to heaven and back. The heredita wine (one of the staff's brother's vineyards) is fabulous and we went back for seconds the night after we ate here... Not often does one find reasonably priced Michelin star worthy food, but here you will.

Modern Portuguese with some international influences (looking at you pulled pork ciabatta). Try the lime-marinated tuna. Prices are reasonable: larger dishes range from €7-9.50. Drinks are also very reasonable with a 20cl draft Estrella starting at a ludicrous €1.20. Come at 7pm or book ahead.

I grew up in a culinair family. A lot of us had restaurants. Maybe that's why I can be very passionate about food and I'm not easily impressed. But the flavours they brought to our tables did completely impress me. They were pure, strong and creative. Amazing chef, amazing place and amazing service. No wonder there was a big line until around the corner of the street when we left. We will certainly come back.

Tasty romantic dinner. Quality of each dishes was incredible. Staff is really nice and smiley. Very good value for money. We'll come back for our next trip.
One advice : book a table in advance. This place is busy all the time.

We went as a group of 6 to Os Bons Malandros and ended up ordering all dishes on the menu. The food is really good, I like that they tweak a bit traditional Portuguese recipes giving them the looks of a modern cuisine dish without losing any of the flavor. My favourite was the goat cheese inside the pastry but the selection of charcuterie was also quite good. The price was cheap for the quality of the food, we were very happy about that also. :)
Only downside was the wait in between dishes. The waiter brought us half of the dishes we ordered first and then we had to wait more than half a hour for the rest of dishes. It's true that the place was crowded, but I believe that the timing for serving can be improved.
All in all, this is a great place to eat in Lisbon! Make a reservation because it seems to be crowded most of the time.

We stayed in Lisbon for four days and this was hands down the best meal we had. I chose it for my birthday dinner and it was perfect. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgable about everything, they recommended fantastic wines to pair with our food. We didn't book, though we should have, as they are nearly always fully booked. But we turned up just as they opened, so they were very accommodating and were able to fit us in. The restaurant is lovely and cosy, located on a really buzzing and lively street.
The lime marinated tuna with avocado, coriander and monitors spheres was incredible and not to be missed! Something really quite different and made with locally caught tuna.
For dessert I recommend the dark chocolate fondant.
If in Lisbon again, I'll be coming back!

The best place we ate in Lisbon. The food was incredible and very reasonably priced. The staff were very knowledgeable and great hosts. Highly recommend the tuna, avocado and mojito spheres! You won't regret it.

Bon rapport qualité prix. Les portions sont un peu juste. Une étoile en moins car l'entrée cher pour ce que c'etait (du pain avec 3 petits pots à peine rempli avec différentes choses à tartiner).

Ottimo posto dove mangiare a Lisbona! uno dei migliori ristoranti che abbia provato, ottima qualità e varietà delle pietanze e sopratutto prezzi bassi! Se capitate a Bairro Alto dovete andarci assolutamente, ogni piatto è cucinato in modo particolare è merita di essere assaggiato. Io ho preso pollo speziato croccante con salsa allo yogurt e Chips con delle erbe.

Non fatevi demotivare se c'è un po' di attesa per entrare: questo ristorante vale davvero la pena e i gestori si prendono la briga di venirvi a chiamare se vi fermate in un bar dei paraggi mentre attendete il vostro turno. Piatti della tradizione rivisitati, di ottima qualità, a prezzi più che onesti. Niente di comparabile alle trappole per turisti che ormai infestano Lisbona. Ottima scelta anche per una vegetariana come me

Reasonably priced and delicious, creative foods. One of our best dining experiences during our vacation in Portugal My group of 4 visited the restaurant. We were 30 minutes late for our dinner reservation and our table was given to another customer. The owner was extremely apologetic and got us seated at a bar across the street until a table at the restuarant was available. We were seated at the restaurant shortly.
We ordered many items off the menu. The highlights were the grilled octopus and fried chicken. Our waitress checked up on us frequently and provided free ports at the end of the meal due to the restaurant giving away our table (which frankly was our fault for being so late). As we were leaving, the restaurant owners gave the 4 of us another set of shots and socialized with our group.

Décors moderne et pour les papilles, un régal. Camarons (gambas) ou bacalhau sur un lit de purée aux épinards, c'est simple mais terriblement efficace. Après l'effort, le réconfort et ça en vaut la chandelle.

Excellent food and drink menu at reasonable prices. Particularly enjoyed the mojito tuna! One of the few places in the area that offer craft beers. Often very busy - so making a reservation recommended to avoid missing out.
