I can’t say enough about this sweet family business. We got to the restaurant late and they kept it open just for us. The food was delicious - all recommended by Sergio, the son, who was our server. The conversation was lively and we learned a lot about Portugal’s history and present day economy. The mother, Julia, cuddled with our infant while we ate. It truly felt like they invited us to dinner in their home. It was a great introduction to Portugal. And the olives, prepared with Julia’s original recipe, were AMAZING!

Wir sind per Zufall und ohne Reservierung mit 4 Personen hier gewesen und haben ein sehr schönes Dinner gehabt. Die Bedienung war erstklassig und hat uns bestens beraten. Wir haben unterschiedliche Starters und Hauptgerichte gegessen und alles hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Speisekarte mit lokalen aber auch italienisch geprägten Gerichten war in portugiesisch und englisch und auch die Weinauswahl war sehr gut. Rundum ein gelungener Abend und eine echte Empfehlung.

Our dinner in this lovely restaurant was exelent! You have to taste the octopus, it is delicious! And ask for the mushrooms with cheese as a starter, they are really good. The restaurant has great wines and a good pale ale. The menue is in english, too. The prices are absolutely ok. The best part of our dinner was the service: So friendly, helpful and fast, thank you for an awesome evening, we will definitely visit you again!!

Geheimtipp abseits der touri Hot Spots.
Sehr sehr freundliche und kompetente Bedienung. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist wirklich gut und das Essen war total lecker. Wir waren zu viert und hatten alle andere Vor- und Hauptspeisen und jeder war vollends zufrieden! (Waren auch sofort offen für Sonderwünsche) Ich hatte kleine Tintenfische mit Bacon und Reis. Bei unserem nächsten Trip nach Lissabon gehen wir auf jeden Fall wieder hin!

O restaurante é aconchegante e amorosamente bem decorado. Os pratos são muito bem preparados, tem valor justo e são deliciosos! O cardápio é variado, sendo que a maioria de pratos é tradicional português e há até opções vegetarianas. O atendimento é a cereja do bolo: Ana e a Dona Júlia atendem a todos de.forma cordial mas carinhosa, como se fôssemos família!! Esse é o melhor e mais aconchegante restaurante que visitamos em todas as 12 cidades de Portugal que conhecemos. Amamos!!
A carta de vinhos é ótima e as sobremesas são incríveis e variadas.

Just landed, and jet lagged on a misty evening. Was looking for a place for dinner and the asked the cashier at the convenient store two doors down.
Our waitress was welcoming, warm and very helpful. Dinner was simple, homey and flavourful. We had a lovely dinner. It was the comfort that we needed.

Es war lecker. Kleines Restaurant. Ambiente... etwas Wohnzimmeratmosphäre. Fast jeder Stuhl ist anders. Selbstgemalte Bilder an der Wand. Leckere Vorspeisen. Nur etwa 25-30 Plätze. Essen sehr gut. Dauert etwas länger, da immer alles direkt frisch gekocht wird. Aber da wartet man bei leckeren Vorspeisen gerne. Vier Sterne, weil direkt an der Strasse gelegen, die sehr belebt ist.

Sou do tipo de cliente que quando é bom eu quero indicar. É o caso desse restaurante. Pequenino, acolhedor, atendimento da Ana, impecável. Não dá para descrever quanta educação e carinho ao nos receber. O cardápio é impagável, tudo que comemos lá estava delicioso. Fomos dois dias seguidos. E, para completar: perdi uma medalha do meu cordão e eles ligaram para o hotel para perguntar se alguém havia perdido algo no restaurante.

Certamente um dos melhores restaurantes que eu já fui em Lisboa, pequeno e aconchegante, mas com uma cozinha espetacularmente boa, seguindo a tradição portuguesa acrescida de uma delicadeza na produção dos pratos que não deixa a desejar aos melhores bistrôs franceses. E o serviço, simpático e delicado como poucos na Europa. Recomendo muito.

I've celebrated my birthday at Agua Benta.
We were a big group of 11 People.
Agua Benta did everything to make the night special and enjoyable.

Staff didn't speak much English but they definitely did their best... We ended up figuring out a happy middle where they spoke French and I spoke English. It was a bit clumsy, but it worked.
Most importantly: cosy little restaurant, friendly people, and very, very tasty food. Got the braised beef special of the day and it was fantastic.
If you're willing to try something new, you can get a true taste of Portugal.

Le meilleur restaurant que nous avons fait lors de notre séjour à Lisbonne.
Découvert par hasard le 1er soir et comme c'était très bon nous y sommes retourné le dernier soir.
Calamars au bacon, risotto à la coriandre, crème brûlée: excellent!!!
Très bon accueil et la dame parle bien le Français.
Ne pas hésiter à y aller...

This was such a cute little restaurant! The menu had lots of different choices(for those tired of fish, potatoes and rice ;), and everyone's meal was delicious! The staff were very friendly and super helpful for our celiac family member. We even were told about the history of their beautiful ceiling which had the original brickwork and archway from before 1755 and held strong during the earthquake that happened that year. I loved this place. Do yourself a favor and take the first stop from the tour buses in Lisboa.

We just happened to go here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised!
We have been in Portugal for 2 weeks and this was by far the most enjoyable meal!
The family business atmosphere was cozy and beautiful. We have a Celiac daughter who is 8 and the owners have a Celiac son. So they were VERY familiar, educated and HIGHLY accommodating.
Conversation and service was wonderful, food was phenomenal, overall one of the best places we have ever been to! We have travelled to many countries, dine in many high-end restaurants, and this place has taken our #1!!!!

More than a simple restaurant. You can breathe the house smell inside. The staff is qualified and really really kind. The bread home made is something really special that you have to taste. The owner Giulia, proved to be very friendly and available even for problems that did not compete. I really suggest this restaurant.

Lovely place, we felt like home and the staff was extremely nice and welcoming! The waitress even spoke Italian! We loved everything from the starter to the unbelievably tasty Cod. Not too far from the center of the city, worth a visit! The inside is very clean and unique! We’ll be surely came back as soon as we get back here in Lisbon!

Still feeling the taste! Authentic traditional Portuguese cuisine, delicious dishes, everything is so so fresh right from the sea and surely the best place to taste traditional Portuguese sardinhas made to home receipt! Don't miss to taste Grilled Shrimps too! Apart from Portuguese receipts you can enjoy Italian cuisine and Rosemary spaghetti and Mateus Rose wine is highly recommended and is a perfect match! Óptima comida e um maravilhoso atendimento. A entrada de cogumelos é divinal. Recomendo o folhado de legumes, pode parecer algo banal mas é delicioso. Para finalizar, o bolo de bolacha que apesar de não ser o tradicional é de comer e desejar mais.

Gostei muito deste restaurante, especialmente dos legumes(feijão verde), pois eles conseguiram transformar um alimento que a maioria das crianças não aprecia em algo delicioso ou seja, conseguiram juntar o feijão verde com bacon e ficou maravilhoso!!
Para além do acolhimento e da decoração que também foram fantásticos...!!!!

Julia é a antiga proprietária do Lá Gôndola, excelente restaurante que teve que fechar as portas. Hoje, renovada e corajosa, abriu desde o começo do ano o Água Benta, na Rua de São Bento. É sem dúvida sua obra-prima. Viemos do Brasil para nos deliciar com sua cozinha. Comemos um espetacular bacalhau e uma rabada de comer de joelhos. A melhor que já provamos. Ela é sua equipe, simpáticos, se desdobraram em nos atender bem.

Небольшой семейный ресторан с приятным интерьером и милыми женщинами, которые обслуживали. В ресторане говорят по-английски достаточно хорошо, чтобы объясниться. Блюда простые и вкусные, никаких нареканий. Пару закусок + суп + второе + вода + алкоголь = 44 евро на двоих. Можно расплачиваться картой.

Best meal I've had in Portugal. Excellent service on a quiet night from Victor. The Family Soup, a white bean and vegetable soup, was hearty and delicious. My entree was asparagus risotto perfectly cooked with a nice citrus zing. Dessert was a traditional Portuguese pudding with a great caramel flavor.

Experiencia incrivel. Esse restaurante me proporcionou uma das melhores memórias gastronômicas que ja tive. Indico os cogumelos grelhados com queijo e bacon como entrada e o arroz de peixe com gambas que é simplesmente sensacional. O autentico carbonara feito pela Dona Julia é único. Fomos muito bem atendidos pelo Victor em um ambiente bem acolhedor. Tudo regado a um bom vinho. Melhor restaurante de Lisboa!

I usually don't write reviews, but had to for this place given that they're newer to the neighborhood and absolutely incredible.
- Food - best we've had in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Asures); try the fish/shrimp curry
- Wine - house wine was also the best we had...took note of the bottle and will be buying more when i can find it
- Service - engaging and intimate; had a great time chatting with our server and the chef
- Price - also cheaper than most of our meals there

Sind seit 1. Woche in Lissabon und heute durch Zufall auf das Lokal gestoßen. Die Reservierung per Telefon auf englisch klappte problemlos. Nettes kleines Lokal mit super netten Personal. Nos atendieron a pesar de llegar a almorzar tarde, compartimos los dos platos y nos lo sirvieron individuales en vez de uno, muy bueno todo.

Tenho andado pelo mundo, literalmente... mas é no ÀGUA BENTA onde tenho encontrado as maiores delícias. Aconselho porque vale realmente a pena. Vem aqui, porque aqui para além do manjar, o atendimento é simplesmente o melhor que já vi!!! Obrigado ÁGUA BENTA!!!

Authentic Portugues cooking and the best Bacalhau a bras i have ever tasted. The cod fish in the oven with delicious potatoes and vegetables was also amazing...truly a gem and lovely meeting the wonderful cook in person! I’ve grown up with Portugues cooking my entire life and this food felt like home. Obrigado do Canada :)

Looks to be oriented to tourists: portions were much smaller than the standard in Portugal, bad quantity/price ratio.
We asked for a glass of home wine (shouldn't cost more than 3 €), and they charged us 5'50: after claiming (such a coincidence!) they answered that they didn't have home wine,it was a commercial good wine.
For the boss:
1.If I ask for a home wine,I want a home wine. It's mean to tell that after the bill arrives and once we claimed. Professional business must be transparent to customers...

El trato muy bueno, pero poca comida y cara. No se pueden utilizar tarjetas españolas. Sacan picada sin pedirla y luego la cobran si has comido (como el pan o la mantequilla).

Once we sat down we were greeted by a very nice server that gave us olives, bread, butter, mushrooms and cheese. Little did I know, it was not for free , worst part though, he gave us two servings of bread. The server was nice enough to take it back though after I asked if this was included in the meal. I ended up ordering the cod that the waiter suggested with potatoes and I'm hoping
i caught them on an off night. Fish was overcooked and in a pan of oil. Maybe i'm not used to the traditional way things are prepared but i've been here for 4 days now and this was probably the most underwhelming meal by far for the price.

Vibe: nice little neighbourhood restaurant with interesting artwork displayed (for sale too). Many locals dining.
Staff: our waiter was very friendly and attentive to our requests!
Food: the Caldo Verde was very nice, apple and portuguese cheese salad filling and refreshing, octopus main came with a coriander risotto, excellent twist on the classic italian one!
Value for money: very good, almost 40€ for soup, mains, bread and beer.

I have eaten here twice, and both times the food and service have been excellent. Unlike many other restaurants in the area, Agua Benta is open from lunch on through the late evening. This is great for anyone who wants a late lunch early dinner. The specials of the day are fantastic. The wine recommendations are spot on. Very friendly and helpful staff. If you’re in the area and you want a great meal give it a try!

Well prepared and delicious traditional Portuguese food in a small, comfortable setting in São Bento, accessible by foot from Princípe Real . The service is incredibly warm, and there is a great, well-curated list of Portuguese wines - helpfully divided by region. The prices are reasonable for a nice meal out. A great choice for people looking for a high-quality introduction to Portuguese cuisine and wine. A good choice for couples and groups of 3-4 diners. I had two fantastic meals there!

Foram servidas diversas entradas sem que tivessem sido pedidas. Somente eu queria beber vinho, perguntei, então, se havia "vinho da casa", foi respondido que sim, mas foi trazida uma garrafa, tivemos então que explicar que só queríamos uma taça. Apesar das entradas e a garrafa de vinho não terem sido cobradas, nos sentimos constrangidos. Já a comida não atendeu as expectativas que tínhamos em decorrência das avaliações "5 estrelas" lidas.

Comida de um requinte que não há igual, também pudera, com a qualidade dos ingredientes a que já estamos acostumados e a excelente confecção não admira.
