A wonderful experience. Amazing service from the lovely, friendly staff who served us very late and still with a smile as lots of other restaurants in Alfama and surrounding areas were closed. YAY Excellent wine, pork cheek and octopus!! I LOVE U XXX

We can’t understand the good ratings, everything there was poor. Starting with the service, the restaurant was playing a radio commenting on a football game that none of the clients were listening to..! We told the waitress who didn’t look bothered and left. She also didn’t know why this place was called cellar after we realised they only had two types of red and white wine each (the one we tried was average). The food was the worse we had in Lisbon, the fries were chewy and cold and we sent them back (they came back warm and even more chewy) while the fish was dry and barely warm. The only satisfaction was the octopus but again, not very warm. It seems like all the dishes are prepared in advance and just warmed up for quick service... avoid at all cost, there is much better in the neighbourhood!

Super nice little restaurant with a cute terrace. The food is delicious and the waiters are kind and pleasant. Great place to go for a peaceful break. I highly recommend it :)

Lovely restaurant but I question the authenticity of this place as it was full of tourists and lacked any locals. The service was good and friendly and the food was fine (nothing spectacular really). The interior was calm and relaxing, we definitely enjoyed the experience.

We stumbled upon Sao Rafael Cellar while wandering through Alfama on a Sunday and finding most places were closed. We were blown away! The decor is lovely, the service fantastic, the prices very affordable, and most of all the food was incredible. I had bacalhau confit and my partner the drunken rabit stew - both were cooked perfectly. Great modern Portuguese food. We will definitely be recommending to all our friends and will be back next time we are in Lisbon!

Enjoyed a pleasant evening on the front terrace very close to our rented apartment in Alfama. Both the red and white Portuguese house wines were very good and the cheese plate was excellent with a very tasty selection of different Portuguese cheeses, all very reasonably priced. Our server “Kusum” had a beautiful smile, was friendly and prompt. Added bonus was eavesdropping on Fado being sung at a nearby restaurant.

The food is affordable but tastes high end! Me and my friend had a great experience here. The food was delicious, both meat and vegetarian options. The service was also amazing, both kind and attentive. The restaurant is also very cozy and clean, with a pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely eat here again.

We essentially stumbled across this place when wandering around some alleyways in Alfama, we were welcomed with very good service. They spoke good English and served us soon after we had sat down. We enjoyed some really nice vegetable soup before we had our main course. The wait wasn't long and the food was delicious. I can recommend the oxtail and pumpkin as well the red bean stew (though it was surprisingly spicy). We only had a chickpea pie for dessert, which, while it sounds strange, was actually quite nice, albeit very filling. I can definitely recommend Sao Rafael cellar for a good variety of tasty both meat and vegetable dishes.

Sehr tolles Restaurant mit sehr gutem Essen in schöner Atmosphäre in toller Umgebung. Das Personal ist sehr aufgestellt und freundlich, die Preise moderat. Es gibt auch vegetarische Gerichte die hervorragend schmecken (z.B. "vegetarischer Hamburger"). Sind wir wieder in Lissabon kommen wir gerne wieder.

We had a nice lunch here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our fresh selfmade lemonade was delicious. The food was okay. We had a very good meat burger and a dish with Bacalhau. The portions were very small.

This place is amazing! We had a wonder time celebrating my brother’s birthday! The food was great and the service was outstanding! The wine selection is even better. We made a wish with our corks on l the “Cork Wish Wall” The manager Lucio was so very kind he made sure we had everything we needed. He actually spent the time to get to know us so rare these days. We will be back someday :-)

Great ambiance and great food! They have a vegetarian burger not on the menu that's delicious! Roasted sheep cheese also great!

We ate here twice. Obviously it was very good! Good service, good food. Would recommend it to everybody!
