There are many stops along the Tram 28 route but I recommend getting on at the Martim Moniz stop. You can’t miss it you would see a long line when you arrive Martim Moniz. The line is not too long if you get there by 10am. I’d recommend you wait until you can get a seat. Trust me its worth the wait. First you can’t see anything if you are standing. Secondly you don’t have to worry about pickpockets. And the trams always make sudden stops which can make your ride really uneasy. Fare was 3euro but you get discount if you have the Lisboa card.

Esperienza tipica di Lisbona. In alternativa al tram (o electrico) 28 consiglio un giro sul numero 12, molto meno affollato e dal percorso simile. Il suono dello sferragliamento lungo i binari, unito al vento in faccia lungo le ripide salite, è una di quelle cose uniche ed irripetibili, che solo Lisbona sa offrire.

Io e la mia famiglia abbiamo fatto il giro classico su questo tram vecchio stile. Abbiamo fatto tre quarti d ora di coda ma alla fine siamo riusciti a salire e sederci. Abbiamo fatto il giro fino al capolinea. A noi è piaciuto tutto sommato. Poi pero' nn abbiamo ripreso il tram ma siamo andati a piedi in giro in quella parte di Lisbona un po' da scoprire. Il giro lo consiglio sicuramente qualcosa di particolare sentire sferragliare x la città.

Classica truffa per turisti: abbiamo fatto un'ora di fila al capolinea per scoprire che in realtà si poteva salire a qualsiasi fermata. Teoricamente la lunga fila garantiva il posto a sedere, ma in realtà se lungo il percorso saliva una persona disagiata ( anziani, donne incinta, bambini..) non si poteva non cedere il posto, rimanendo in piedi in una calca che non permetteva di vedere nulla fuori. Inoltre il tram non permette una vera panoramica della città! Si vedono solo muri e negozi a 2 cm dalla strada. La cosa peggiore è che la corsa finisce quasi dalla parte opposta di lisbona e il conducente obbliga a scendere!! Solo ripagando il biglietto puoi tornare indietro, mentre io mi aspettavo un giro completo fino al punto di partenza.

Old fashioned tram worth the ride. Choose your route wisely.
Overall - Good but too long for us.
Good - Tram 28 is an experience and you should do it as it takes you all around the Lisbon area streets which you cannot experience in a bus, rail or taxi. The only other option is on foot. We took the Tram in front off Hotel Mundial. We took the 28E route and this route lasted about 1.5 to 2 hours round trip. Remember that tram is one way. You get off, and get back on at the last station and have to pay again for the route back. The routes are posted online on the Lisbon travel authorities website and you can plan yours accordingly.
Bad - Can be too bumpy and the route we took was longer than we expected. Watch out for pickpockets as they love to ride the tram.

El tram 28, o tranvía 28 es buena opción si se quiere visitar una amplia zona de Lisboa en alrededor de hora y cuarto (por trayecto). El tranvía es de dos direcciones, y el trayecto cuesta 3€, por lo que si se van a coger las dos direcciones merece la pena coger el billete de un día de transporte de Lisboa, ya que así se puede utilizar el resto del día también tanto en autobuses como en el metro. Tuvimos que esperar una hora de cola ya que había bastante gente, y luego el tranvía iba bastante lleno, pero merece la pena cogerlo.

Molto carino questo tram, tradizionale è vecchio stile. Per salire bisogna fare una coda, il controllore gestisce l’andirivieni di gente. Se siete in possesso della carta dei mezzi giornaliera si può salire senza costi aggiuntivi, ma per chi non la possiede costa 3€ l’ingresso . Una volta saliti, gli spazi sono molto stretti, il tram è piccolo e i turisti molto.. bisogna fare estrema attenzione alle borse e ai portafogli. Noi abbiamo un uomo e una donna che palesemente facevano finta di fare i turisti; al capolinea il guidatore faceva scendere tutti per cambiare tram, e questi tre si sono messi ad esortare l’uscita, probabilmente per approfittare della ressa.

Le tram 28 est vraiment à prendre pour visiter le vieux Lisbonne. Avec ces petites ruelles et le passage devant de beaux monuments et de belles places. Si vous allez jusqu'au terminus il vous faudra reprendre un billet retour, mais ça vaut vraiment le détour.

Wat een zalig stukje geschiedenis om mee te maken tijdens een ritje van A naar B, met tram 28! Doorheen de stad zijn er voldoende haltes om de tram te nemen. Het is natuurlijk een populair vervoersmiddel, kan druk zijn!

Die Wartezeit (ca. 60 Minuten) am Startpunkt lohnt sich, wenn teilweise durch sehr schmale Gassen gebraust und man ziemlich durchgeschüttelt wird.
Macht Spass.
Bei der Streckenhälfte ist ein wunderschöner Ausblick auf Lissabon zu erleben.

Very enjoyable Chinese food.
I had the pork with bamboo and mushroom (207) with fried rice on the side, and it was delicious. The sauce was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of acidity and spiciness. The pork was good and the bamboo and mu-er crunchy.

Impossible de ne pas le prendre quand on est à Lisbonne. Place Martin Moniz à son départ ou à Campo de Ourique son terminus. Venir tôt le matin par exemple pour être assis. Le prendre en cours de route fait courir le risque d'être debout et de moins profiter du voyage. Faire le trajet complet permet de voir déjà pas mal de choses et de repérer les endroits où revenir.

Piece of advice, take the tram in subsequent stops, not the first one, though it will be harder to be seated, you won't have to wait as much.
Also, the idea behind the tram 28 is not be seated and expect to see everything, it's to get down in some of the stops while you wait for the next one until you get to the end.
Make sure you photograph the Tram, is really cute.

Leider nur mehr ein kümmerlicher Rest des einst umfangreichen Straßenbahnnetzes, aber die Faszination der steilen, engen Strecken mit Steigungen bis zu 13,5% OHNE Zahnrad oder Seil ist geblieben. Leider wird man während des Wartens auf die Straßenbahn an derselben Haltestelle von zahlreichen Linienbussen zugedieselt.

Bu deneyimi kesinlikle Lizbon’da yapılacaklar listesine eklemelisiniz. Bu tura Martim Moniz Meydanı'ndaki durakta başlayabilirsiniz. Bazen uzun kuyruk yüzünden binmek biraz zaman alabilir.
Özellikle Alfama'nın dar ve eski sokaklarında dolaşırken inanılmaz bir yolculuktu. Şehir ve nehir manzarasının tadını çıkarırken bir miradouroların (manzaralı teraslar) bulunduğu duraklara uğrayabilirsiniz.

Se non provi il tram 28 non sei stato a Lisbona..quando sali non sei più un turista ...ma un abitante di Lisbona...calati nella parte e assapara la loro calma..lentezza.
Non ammirare solo il paesaggio, ma immagina di essere dell'automobilista che si imbatte nel tram in un vicolo stretto..
insomma abbandona la tua vita frenetica e rilassati come fanno loro...sei in vacanza.

Speravo in qualcosa di meglio. Dopo quasi un'ora di fila riusciamo a salire su questo tram che ci accompagna per le varie strade di Lisbona: tuttavia nulla di particolare, esperienza da fare solo se si ha abbastanza tempo per visitare la città.
P.S. è un normale tram e non un trenino turistico

Il tram 28 è una delle attrazioni più famose di Lisbona ma non è un trenino turistico. Al contrario, è un mezzo dell’azienda di trasporto pubblico Carris: definirlo mezzo pubblico sarebbe però riduttivo. Una corsa sul tram 28 è qualcosa di simile a un giro sulle montagne russe, un tuffo nel passato e un itinerario nei meandri nascosti della città, o probabilmente le tre cose insieme. Il tutto al prezzo di un biglietto dell’autobus. Le stridenti carrozze gialle e bianche del tram 28 sono ormai diventate un simbolo di Lisbona nonché una delle più note immagini da cartolina della capitale lusitana. Alcune carrozze originarie dei primi del Novecento sono ancora in circolazione, ma i pannelli di legno lucido e le finiture cromate regalano un fascino da pezzo di antiquariato anche alle carrozze più recenti.

Wow, 2 hour wait, completely confused unlimited ride card mixup with 6 people...each rider needs a card! Avoid the prompt to add multiple people to one card! Paid double, waited nearly 2 hours at moriz (only saw packed trolleys with no space) only to be told we needed to pay for 5 more tickets...then rode 100 yards and stopped and people got on and actually got seats...without waiting...then we got munsoned out in the middle of nowhere when they made us get off. Not wanting to pay again and wait another hour to get back...we 6 ubered from there for far less time and money to belem. Trolley ride was cool, but not required by any means. Walking around the key areas, which we had already done, was just as nice.

Our Tram 28 experience was well worth the time, money and effort. The way the tram is able to move uphill and downhill is an engineering marvel. The use it to explore Lisbon was a bonus!

Totally over rated tram ride! Here are a few tips.
- It costs €3.
- Long line at M Moniz can be avoided by walking to the next stop or two.
- Tram can often get packed. So it’s really hard to see much nor take pictures along the way.
- If you really want to see the sights, best to just walk the route.
- I could not figure out which 28 goes to the end and which only goes to Campo Ourique. The one I was on stopped at Campo so had to the Uber to the end.
Bottom line, long wait, crowded, can’t see much, totally not worth your time. If all you want is a ride on the unique Tram...take any of them....don't waste your time on this one.

If in your childhood you liked playing with electrical trains... you'll be pleased with this tram even more :).
Yes, this tramming is rather over-hyped by all of us having visited Lisbon; but at the same time is some kind of a brief guide to insights of the city which after this trip you'll be able to examine on foot and in detail if they evoke your particular interest.
This tram lets us feel that already foregone childhood when many of us (then future and nowadays present auditors, military officers, simultaneous interpreters and many-many other professions could be cited :)) liked to play with technically beautiful electrical trains and to feel really operating on them...
It's not just a sightseeing tour around some Lisbon districts it's a refresher of our own dreams and that's why we like it :).
P.S. Practicalities are very simple: better to have tickets bought in advance at any subway station; to start your journey from any of its terminal stops; and to plan your journey for the second half of the day (some after 16.00) since usually within this period there are fewer passengers on board :) - we took it twice in late October-early November (beginning and finishing our two-week tour around the country) and all that worked perfectly for us :).

Bonita forma con encanto y de otra época, para visitar Lisboa. Recomiendo comprar billete para transporte para un día, que está sobre 6,80€ por persona, para usar en tranvía, metro y tren...lo puedes comprar en estaciones de metro, y no tires resguardo, que se puede recargar para otro día, y te ahorras algo...
Lo negativo, el colon que tienes que hacer para montarte en este tranvía, una hora o más para montarte. El recorrido merece la pena y el tranvía de ida dura unos 45 minutos aproximadamente, y el de vuelta un poco menos. Te parecen última parada y te tienes que bajar del tranvía y volver hacer cola, en esta ocasión unos 15 minutos o menos ya que hay muchísima menos gente, y volverte a subir y pasar el billete, otra vez.
Por parte de los usuarios del tranvía que no son turistas, hay mucha queja de su saturación... podrían aumentar número de tranvía y más asiduo, pero me imagino que esto ya lo saben!!!....
Los niños tienen que ir sentados, y con hasta 4 años cumplidos, no pagan bono transporte. Al final del tranvía hay una zona para bajarse, que puedes aprovechar y dejar el carro de bebe, claro está plegado a modo de bastón. La puerta que se abrirá es la opuesta a donde va sentado el conductor del tranvía. Esa zona trasera es la mejor para hacer fotos y ver la panorámica...
Si vas a Lisboa, tienes que subir al tranvía n°28.

L’ayant pris à son Terminus «Place Martim Moniz» à 10h30, l’attente n’a pas été très longue si ce n’est que 15-20 minutes.
Le Tramway 28 est à faire mais pas non plus un incontournable.
Seul le passage dans le quartier de l’Alfama est intéressant, pour le reste cela reste un Tramway classique avec des montées de rues; rien de bien extraordinaire.
Soyez astucieux :
Calculez les places assises dans le tramway, et si vous n’en avez pas attendez le prochain tramway.
Généralement de nombreuses personnes se précipitent pour rentrer rapidement mais se retrouvent debout tout le trajet; ce qui n’a pas d’intérêt à mon sens.
Durée du trajet :
Compter 30-40 minutes jusqu’au terminus
Pour le prix, la carte de métro rechargée au préalable fonctionnera dans le Tramway sinon prévoyez de l’argent liquide pour payer le chauffeur ou le contrôleur.
Son prix est de 2,90€ pour aller jusqu’au Terminus «Cimetière» qui est un peu excentré et vous obligera à reprendre le Tramway dans l’autre sens (compter donc 5,80€ l’aller/retour).

No vale la pena, caro, incómodo y los conductores son bordes de cojones....un billete vale 6€ y aunque el recorrido es circular y te podría volver a dejar en el sitio donde lo cogiste, cuándo llegas a la última parada te hacen bajar y si quieres volver te tienes que subir a otro vagón (previo pago de otro billete), lo que quiere decir que mi pareja y yo no gastamos 24€ en veinte minutos por un viaje que no vale la pena para nada....si quieres ver el vagón lo miras en las paradas, ya que es lo único que vale la pena...

Se si vuole prendere questo tram è meglio pianificare la visita partendo dal capolinea di martim Moniz in un orario senza ressa, molti fanno l'intero percorso fino all'altro capolinea e tornano indietro con lo stesso tram. La domenica alle 8 non abbiamo trovato fila, già alle 9:30 c'era molta gente. Conviene andare là mattina presto o nel tardo pomeriggio

Il est indispensable de prendre une fois le tram si on passe à Lisbonne.
C'est comme un tour de manège !!!
Ça bouge ça grince ça fait du bruit mais on se régale !!!
Par contre il faut le mériter la queue pour accéder au départ est parfois longue.
Vous pouvez utiliser votre pass transport comme un bus classique.

O Eléctrico 28 faz parte da vida dos Lisboetas á mais de 100 anos. É um transporte público que serve vários bairros da cidade de Lisboa, começa no M. Moniz passado na Graça, Chiado, Estrela e terminando em Campo de Ourique.
É uma viagem agradável de se fazer nas primeiras horas do dia, mas depois das 9/10 horas a afluência é tanta por parte de quem nos visita que se torna muito difícil de se apanhar/arranjar um lugar sentado para se desfrutar da linda cidade que é Lisboa.
Por estas e outras razões, só posso recomendar vivamente a quem nunca andou ou se já andou de se fazer transportar no eléctrico 28 que mais se parece com uma casinha "Amarelinha" que vai "cirandando" pela rua da cidade. Obrigado.

The tram has an interesting route starting near Martim Moniz metro station, among narrow streets and up to steepy hills, but you have to be carefully to the strange people (pickpockets or pervers). The end of the route is not in an special neighborhood and it is better to take the train back in Alfama.

Es muy chulo y es muy auténtico. El tranvia está muy bien conservado. Esperábamos algo más del paseo ya que esperamos algo más de una hora para montarnos. Decir que las familias con niños tienen prioridad en los asientos. Los conductores no han sido demasiado amables.

Je mets seulement 3 étoiles car comme indiqué dans plusieurs commentaires ce tram est bondé en permanence. Nous avions anticipé la fréquentation et l’avons pris à la basilique d’estrela et même là il n’y avait plus de place et avons du en laisser un passer... sinon la balade est très sympa mais il faut être assis pour profiter du trajet, debout on ne voit pas grand chose...

Fabuloso para recorrer el centro histórico de Lisboa. Para pagar es con el mismo ticket del metro así q solo tienes que validarlo. Mí recomendacion es que no se dirijan al punto de las colas que es el comienzo porque la única ventaja es que viajas sentado pero de resto no va ningún guía turístico y te tienes que calar una cola de una hora. El tram lo puedes agarrar donde veas un poste amarillo que diga NRO 28. Y siempre va por la misma vía, así q puedes volver en el mismo. Mí otra recomendación es q se bajen en los puntos turístico y luego lo vuelven agarrar donde se bajaron fácil siguen el mismo camino que los que están sentados suerte y que disfruten el viaje

Als Tourist sollte man unbedingt mit der Bahn fahren - früh morgens kann man noch einen Sitzplatz ergattern! Es lohnt sich, die komplette Strecke zu fahren.

Kann ich nicht empfehlen. 1 Stunde anstehen. Die Fahrt führt durch keine schönen Plätze. Sehr voll, man quetscht alles an Menschen rein was geht. Sehr hektische Fahrt, man wird ordentlich durchgeschüttelt und ist am Ende nur genervt. Den Stress kann man sich sparen.

Elétrico 28 é como se fosse o bondinho de Sta Teresa no Rio de Janeiro. Ele nos leva para o Bairro de Allfama e lá passa por vielas estreitas e coloridas!!!! O valor do bilhete é bem acessível, fica em torno de 2,50 Euros. O Elétrico é feito em madeira e super tradicional. Uma verdadeira viagem no tempo!

Un medio de transporte muy original y eficiente para esta maravillosa ciudad. Con diversos recorridos, con horarios puntuales. En algunos momentos se ven saturados por los usuarios, pero como son de circulacion regular no implican perdidas grandes de tiempo, si se prevee dichos sucesos, no implicaran problemas. Un manera muy bella de conocer y recorrer la ciudad acompañado de sus habitantes, los portugueses.

We got into the tram at ourodo which is one of the end stations. There was a small line but everyone got a seat. We took a full ride and it was quiet an experience. Keep your hands in! A real fun ride and a must do in Lisbon. At Martim Moniz- the other end - you can change into tram 12 which gives you a ride around the castle hill

Beautiful tran. It stopped right next to our hostel and as much as I like the authenticity of this tram it is very crowded. Tourist are informed to take this tram from the beginning till the end (in the end you sometimes have to wait 20-25 minutes for the next available tram). I would suggest to take tram 25 or 12!

Bin vor 2-3 Jahren mal mitgefahren und kürzlich auch wieder. Irgendwie war es nicht mehr so spektakulär , vielleicht hat sich die Route geändert. Ich habe die engen Gassen vermisst. die Bahnen sind dermaßen überfüllt. Man kann es mal gemacht haben, aber die Wartezeit von teilweise zwei Stunden ist es nicht wert.

Molto bello il giro in tram. Essendo piccolo e essendoci tanta richiesta da parte dei turisti è impossibile non trovarlo pieno. Vi do un consiglio, non fate come moltissime persone che fanno ore di coda davanti al capolinea, potrete salire sul tram 28 da qualsiasi fermata, ammesso che ci sia posto. Buona fortuna

Expérience incontournable à Lisbonne le tram 28 jaune vif passe par tous les quartiers historiques de Lisbonne. C est sur il y a beaucoup de monde mais prenez du temps pour le faire cela vaut le coup et permet de visiter tous les quartiers de la ville et puis n oubliez pas d appuyer sur le bouton rouge quand voulez descendre !

Great way to observe the city, but not sure if it worths. A queue is 30 min long and you should pay 3 Euros again to get back to the city centre. (I took a cab to get back and it was cheaper and more comfortable than tram).

Couple tips for you to enjoy, first, sit on the left, the most beautiful places are visible from this side, second, arrive early, Google says that it opens at 10, in reality the tram starts at 8:30, third, take your breakfast (pastry and coffee) with you and enjoy the ride, fourth, avoid going during the weekends, since there are lots of people everywhere, the trip consumes waaaay too long.
On your way back, don't bother sitting at the window, just use the tram to drop at the points of interest, such as the Castle of Saint George or the market square.

Bij Martin monez (metro station) niet instappen, hier staat in het hoogseizoen de hele dag door een achterlijk lange rij. Zorg dat je een paar haltes later in stapt, je mist dan een klein stukje van de route maar kan gegarandeerd zonder rij de tram in. Na tien minuutjes kun je ook zitten aangezien er regelmatig mensem uitstappen.

Carino e caratteristico, si prova l'esperienza di utilizzare un vecchio tram di Lisbona che collega Matrim Moniz a Campo Ourique e attraversa i famosi quartieri turistici di Graca, Alfama, Baixa ed Estrela. Per i visitatori si tratta del classico giro turistico di Lisbona a bordo di un pittoresco tram giallo che stride e sferraglia per le strette vie della città passando davanti alcuni monumenti quali la cattedrale, il "miradouro de Santa Lucia". Costo del biglietto compreso nella Lisboa Card, 3€ se si paga a parte. Nelle guide viene riportato che i tram sono utilizzati anche dagli abitanti per spostarsi quindi ce ne sono altri e viene consigliato di fare spazio anche ai locali. In piazza Matrim Moniz c'è sempre una lunga fila, noi lo abbiamo preso alla fermata della cattedrale (Se di Lisbona) per poi scendere a Matrim Moniz. Alle fermate intermedie non è detto che si riesca a salire: se il tram è pieno non si ferma.

Don’t queue for this at Martim Moniz. I highly recommend walking the Tram 28 route following the Time Travel Turtle guide (google it) and taking the tram back. This is the single best way to discover Lisbon.

Nous avons pris les tram 28 et 25 et c'est veritablement un voyage dans le temps avec des tram quasiment d'origines.
A faire absolument le matin (si possible) pour être tranquille (pas de pick pocket) car sur le ligne 28 vers 8h30 nous n’étions que 4 dans le tram au départ de la place Martim Moniz. Quel plaisir d'entendre ce bruit de ferraille a l'ancienne ou l'on se laisse bercer par le bruit !.
Sinon brève escapade avec le tram 25 car après 3 arrêts, une voiture a coupé la route au tram donc accident et tout le monde descend !
Voiture bien endommagée mais tram intact ça c'est du solide !
Sinon belle expérience.

Geweldig leuk om hier een ritje mee te maken als je in Lissabon bent. Tip : stap niet beneden op, dan kan het erg druk zijn, en kan het even duren voordat je er in zit, maar loop op je gemak naar boven en neem dan gelijk wat mooie uitkijk punten mee, en stap dan boven in Alfama op het trammetje, plek zat dan en je kunt heerlijk uitrusten op de rit naar beneden!

Wenn man nach Lissabon kommt muss man auch einmal mit der Tram28 durch die Stadt gefahren sein. Man sollte auf jeden Fall an der Endhaltestelle in Campo Ourique einsteigen. Dann bekommt man nämlich einen Sitzplatz und kann auch schöne Fotos machen. Wenn man später einsteigt hat man keine Chance auf einen Sitzplatz und muss stehen. Gerade bei der Geschwindigkeit und Steigung kein großer Spaß. Die Linie fährt an vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt vorbei. Ich würde allerdings bis zum Schluss drin bleiben und die Fahrt genießen. Danach kann man die Stadt ja immer noch zu Fuß erkunden. Die Endhaltestelle ist im Zentrum der Stadt am Platz Martim Moniz. Man kann auch in die andere Richtung fahren, allerdings warten in Martim Moniz große Menschenmassen auf die Tram. Andersherum ist es wesentlich entspannter. Zum Campo Ourique sind wir mit einem UBER gefahren, ist dort relativ günstig. Die ganze Fahrt mit der Tram dauert ungefähr 40 Minuten.

Leuke rit met deze tram. Is zeer populair vanwege het traject maar daardoor ook erg druk. Kleine kans dat je kunt zitten en staand zie je niet zoveel.
