We chose the restaurant after reading other google reviews. When we got there the first surprise was that the place didn't really look like the pictures we had seen. The only waiter didn't really speak Portuguese so, although we did, we found it easier to comunicate in English. They didn't have the wine we ordered and offered us a different one that wasn't on the menu but they said was the same price. It was an OK wine. My husband wanted the Caldo Verde soup, but they didnt have it, claiming that they dont make it anymore because not a lot of people order it. The waiter suggested the Spicy Octupus but it was way too spicy/hot and mushy. I ordered a shrimp with mayo sauce that was ok, but served in a dish that made it complicated to eat because I had to remove the heads and there was no place to put them. For the main course, my fish was kinda small, with lots if bones and very little meat and the baked potatos had no salt at all. My husbands pork was poorly seasoned as well. Aside from it all, there was a constant smell of cigarrettes in the room, eventhough smoking was not allowed. Smoking customers would go outside to smoke right at the front door, which remained open the entire time. We paid around 62 Euros, which was within the price range of other restaurants in the area, but considering our overall experience we would not recommend the restaurant.

Absolutely great food. I had Octopus salad, then the sardines with crushed potatoes. Both were great. The olives were the best I have had in Portugal. Great evening, and friendly staff.

Small little reto, amazing food, great déco, fantastic vino, waiter was super helpful and let us try the wine before getting it! Wow I never was offered that! Thx man, also a bottle of wine was dropped by accident and this gentleman waiter offered a whole new bottle to take home, for his gesture we actually couldn't accept it and appretiated his offer. Octopus main was delicious

Arrived late in the evening and they were very welcoming. The service was very good and the food was extremely tasty. Not the cheapest but perhaps to be expected given its location.

Dopo molti anni ritorno a Lisbona e con piacere ritrovo l'atmosfera del Bairro Alto in questo piccolissimo ristorante (meno di 20 posti) trovato girovagando senza meta. Cibo molto buono, tempo di attesa abbastanza lungo ma del resto compatibile con la preparazione dei piatti fatta al momento. Prezzi non elevati. Vino da migliorare.

The food is amazing. The servers are really nice and well-behaved. The restaurant might not seem attractive from outside but its a must try. The spicy octopus and the shrimp with garlic were too good.

We found this restaurant on Christmas Eve as other nearby restaurants were closed by the early evening. It's in an alleyway, small but cozy. We ordered a Steak and Octopus as, on their menu, the presentation of the food on the plate was good, but the food was worst. We ordered the medium cooked steak, but it was fully cooked and tasted like food prepared from the leftovers. The steak and fries were covered with sauce. Worst steak ever. Octopus was the same. (Though, the Balsamic Vinaigrette tasted good!) Not worth the price we paid. However, the waiter and waitress were very friendly and helpful. Just their service was great!

first of all, my english is not perfect. we were here for dinner yesterday and i have to say it was all great. we had both tapas and main courses and were more than satisfied. you should also try the green wine here. it was also very tasty. should we ever be in Lisbon, we will be happy to come back.

Don't know if this place is under new management out something, but give it a miss! Tried a selection of tapas... Half of it was inedible cooked from frozen rubber, and the rest was just exceptionally disappointing. The highlight was the tomato salad which comprised of a sliced tomato on some mixed salad leaves. No dressing... Absolute rubbish. Avoid!!!!

Les tapas sont très moyennes. Le poisson n'était clairement pas du jour. Une autre table s'est aussi plainte de la fraîcheur des produits. De plus, l'attente des plats a été interminable. La serveuse est aimable mais cela ne suffit pas. Je ne recommande pas ce restaurant.

Service is super slow! The most expensive fish on the menu is the codfish and it tasted nothing like fish.... rubbery and salty like it have been marinated for a month. Waiter refused to change and charge full. Do not recommend and will not come back again. Worst meal I ever had and no customer service at all!

Unpleasant! Small portions and overpriced cheap wines. They charged over 20 eur for a 4 eur bottle, then billed it as something with a similar name. The waiter sait that the bottles have the same price. Obviously they didn’t. Don’t come here to be scammed.

Came upon this resto and took a chance. As we were walking in, a couple was coming out and we asked them how the food was and they said "good enough". They weren't wrong. The food was good but not spectacular. Our server was really nice but the service was ridiculously slow.

If I could give less than one star, believe me I would. We walked around Lisbon on a Saturday night searching for a decent place that wasn`t too crowded until we came upon this place. We tried to go in but they told us to go accross the street as it was the same restaurant. We sat down, they took our order right away and we got our first drinks pretty quickly. Nightmare begins after that. We sat in the restaurant for about 1h and they kept telling us the food was coming. 30 minutes after that we honestly considered just leaving money for our drinks and walking to McDonalds. In the 2h that we stayed in the restaurant, the family next to us was missing 3 dishes, had the wrong dish brought to them about 3 times as well, their food dropped on the floor. When we finally got our food, I cannot stress enough, not worth the 25 Euros. The staff were also very confused, constantly mixing up our order with the people behind us. While waiting for our food, I peeked over to the other side of the restaurant to see the tables full of empty glasses and dishes. One side is well taken care of while the other is totally neglected. I must give it to them though, even though the servers are as confused as a frightened child, they were very kind and tried to make it up to us by offering a glass of wine and an additional serving of the octopus. The food was mediocre at best, the sardines didn`t taste like fish at all, the octopus was very chewy, but I guess that was the best part of the meal. Potatoes taste like cardboard and overall just a waste of time and money. If you have the option between this place and startving, just starve. Or you can walk down to the McDonalds about 5 minutes down the road.

Given the good luck we have had with food so far, we knew that it was going to run out sooner or later. This was our date night dinner and we wanted to try something close to where we were staying. A local told us that if you see a restaurant with more than 5 tables and people eating, then it's a good place to eat. We should have listened to him. . The menu looked interesting so we walked in and it was not busy so we knew that we would not have to wait for a table. The Bairro Alto area is always busy in the evenings and we did not want to wait for our table. . The hostess spoke English and seated us quick. I got a white port wine and my wife got, what we hoped was a very sweet white wine. It was closer to a Chardonnay than a Riesling unfortunately. . They had a tapas menu that allowed us to choose 6 items. We got the Fried Calamari, Grilled Mushroom, Chili Octopus, Sauteed Chorizo, Batatas Bravas and the Fish Cakes (which were supposed to be 2 to an order but we got only 1). We also got the Shrimp in Caipirinha sauce. The food seemed like it was frozen food that was reheated, the chorizo tasted like spicy hot dogs, Shrimp was cold as if it were cocktail shrimp and the Batatas Bravas was like potato wedges. The Chili Octopus had a good kick to it and very little Octopus and the little it had was the most chewy octopus I've had. . Overall it was a terrible meal and we will not be going back for sure.

Try the spicy octopus (great level of spice for the Spicer lovers) and the grilled whole sardines. Loved it, and great value. Would come again

Jamais déçu!!! Une réelle belle rencontre avec le patron, cuisinier et serveurs!!! Toujours souriant, un accueil merveilleux. Des plats aussi bons les uns que les autres pour un prix vraiment correct! Des vins excellent. Il faut y venir pour comprendre. 3 années à venir a Lisbonne, 3 années à venir manger ici!!! On ne changera pas d'adresse pour rien au monde !!!

A refreshing menu. Spicy octopus a real treat with the portobello and cheese a second best. The grilled asparagus and grilled vegetables delicious. Perfect reprieve from the usual Portuguese fare.

Trovato quasi per caso durante la nostra visita a Lisbona. Locale molto piccolo (non più di 6/7 tavolino) ma accogliente. Porzioni un po’ più piccole della media ma comunque gustose. Da provare il polipo piccante e il crostino di formaggio di capra con il miele. La ragazza che ci ha servito è stata molto gentile e veloce. Prezzo nella media.

Het eten was lekker. De wijn nog lekkerder. Rosa (de seveerster) was superlief. Alleen jammer van de service en entourage..... Die vielen tegen. Was behoorlijk fris binnen, om je drinken moest je vragen en ook de tapas die ik tegelijkertijd bestelde kreeg ik apart. Daarbij was de volgende bijzonder. De bruschetta kwam als besluit. De koffie (espresso) bij het dessert was lauw. Kortom, kneuterig en wel leuk voor 1 keertje, maar niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

I was surprised to find such amazing food in this tiny hole-in-the-wall, but it was one of the best places I've eaten in Lisbon. The Portobello with cheese was insane. Careful with the service, you may fall in love.

This chef owned and operated resturant is a jewel in Bairro Alto. We discovered it our first night in Lisbon. What a treat and delight. Flavors and presentation were First Class. We have come back twice more during our week stay to treat ourselves to outstanding quality food and drink. Look past the simple appearance, the chef is a undiscovered master.

Good food. Really small restaurant, but with good food. We had fish and it was good. The portions could have been bigger.

We tried octopus today and a Portugese starter. Very tasty, quick service, nice people. Definitely would like to recommend!
