This was a real treat. Great service that was really attentive and helpful. The biggest prawns I’ve ever eaten, great octopus and delicious clams. I need to sleep!

Accueil réservé (il faut être patient !) sans réservation. Ensuite, le service est très accueillant et attentionné. Cuisine de produits locaux avec l'une ou l'autre note exotique très agréable. Bonnes suggestions de vins.

Resto assez haut de gamme, accueil cordial, service convivial. Cuisine essentiellement de la mer avec quelques notes indiennes pour qui aime. Beaucoup d'autres suggestions plus traditionnelles à la carte.

Visited the Mar d’Fora each year since it opened and it has always been excellent. Great service, friendly staff and the food is just terrific. The setting is stunning, catch it at sunset and you will not regret it.

We had a lovely evening, the food was very special, and the service was very good. Blankets were offered if you were a bit chilly which is a very good idea. We would hope to go again before we go home.

Great location on the top of a cliff with a view of the sunset, if you get there in time. The food was excellent, as was the service. If we were staying longer, we would diffinately go back.

Fantastic meal, very friendly staff (once we were passed the queue for our booked table), great view. Have the chocolate brownie for pudding. We were all stuffed already but it was soooo yummy!

It is unbelievable what happened to me in this place called BAR Lounge Restaurant. We went for a snack and when I was sitting on the terrace they invited me to go out if I did not go to dinner. In my life I have had an unpleasant experience.

It was incredibly hot during our visit - so much so that we were all quite uncomfortable. The restaurant could combat this with some big fans or by raising the shades on the side of the balcony to increase air flow.
The food was mixed reviews. I had an incredible seafood risotto that was simply perfect. The portion was huge and the seafood was very fresh. Family members had the steak Portuguese style which was OK, and other family members had the pasta which was blah.
Would have loved to see a few additional local specialities - sad to see no grilled sardines, octopus stew, beef a casa, or bacalhau options.
Staff was so-so. Some were lovely, others made home feel rushed.
I’d rate this place a 3.5-4.0 depending on your food choice.

The manager of Mar d'Fora is a very aggressive man who thinks it’s acceptable to grab female customers and push them around. Last night he did this to me in front of my friend and our two children. It was absolutely shocking. The police were called and the incident was recorded. We have been advised by the police that what he did is considered assault in Portugal and that we should make a formal complaint at a police station. I’d heard that the place was worth a visit for the view but not to expect much from the service or the food but I certainly didn’t anticipate this Even one of the policemen said to us ‘there are better places to spend your money than here’. It truly was a TERRIBLE experience.

Wonderful restaurant for setting and the food. Would definitely recommend for a last night meal as I feel this was the best. Great service from the staff. We had 3 Coeliacs in our party and they could help with the Gluten free options. The sunset setting was beautiful.

Its a superb restaurant.We had no language problem almost all the personal speak English. The personal is very friendly and nice, i have never met a personnel as friendly in a restaurant. The food is very good. I love the decoration of the hotel. If you pass nearby the restaurant, i advice you to go there. The restaurant offers a superb view of the ocean.

The setting is beautiful, sadly I can't say the same for the food. Seeing a puddle of oil at the bottom of my lunguine was quite unappealing. Basically you're paying for the setting.

I will start with dessert, we had the chocolate brownie which was delicious and the COCONUT CAKE. I have to shout about the COCONUT CAKE because seriously, yes, it is worth shouting about. It was to die for. I think I would ask for that COCONUT CAKE for my last meal.

Restaurant met geweldige liggig met uitzicht op de baai. Samen met dochter Cataplan genomen, overheerlijk. Als vooraf de gefrituurde garnalen in zoet zure saus met een fruitsalade, gewoon zalig. Prijzen zijn iets hoger dan normaal in Portugal, maar de prijs/prestatie is zeker 5 sterren waard. Zeer vriendelijk personeel, reserveren noodzakelijk!

Pranzo 2 : diamo un'altra possibilità... prezzi alti (cataplana che vale 10, forse 15€ con più ossa che pesce e il resto verdura a 70€ per 3 px) Il resto (tagliolini ai gamberi) non male ma neanche degno di nota ma i prezzi ALTISSIMI. Per finire vista meravigliosa e arredamento curatissimo ma se si tralascia il cibo che ristorante è???

Exceptional from start to finish! The food, the service, the location, the atmosphere and the overall experience was outstanding! Thank you so much to the team who looked after us, even offering a blanket for us who were sat out on the terrace as the sea breeze cooled the later the night went on. The food was all recommended to us by the waiter and he chose perfectly. Accompanied by some excellent wine too. Cannot wait for my return to Carvoeiro so that we can enjoy this experience all over again!

Good seafood and steak , but more expensive, stunning beach and view. Worth going down to water. So bring some shoes that work on the many stairs. Patio is super romantic at sunset.

Waren hier heute außerhalb der Hauptsaison essen.
Also nicht nur das Essen war super (Alle drei hatten ein Fischgericht), sondern auch die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Und ein wenig Spaß hatte man mit dem Personal auch.
Rundum ein gelungener Nachmittag mit wunderbarem Blick aufs Meer.
Klare Empfehlung.

Die Lage des Restaurants ist fantastisch. Das Essen sehr gut. Etwas gestört hat uns das der Kellner sehr forsch vorgeht und eine.m wenig Zeit zum Nachdenken gibt.
Die Weine sind total überteuert (schade).
Trotzdem ein guter Tip. Man kann ja Bier trinken

This place is beautiful. Absolutely amazing views. We were here in February for a late lunch and it was very quiet. The waiter provided great service.
I enjoyed the monkfish curry but would probably try the catch of the day next time.

Entramos un poco escépticos, fuera de temporada, poca gente, los camareros algo aburridos, casi sin ganas. Pero, en cuanto nos sentamos, la maquinaria se puso en marcha. Por supuesto que tomamos pescado. Fantástico. En cuanto al sitio, estupendo. Si tienen tiempo, justo al lado hay una bajada al acantilado. El atardecer de 10!!

Tried to go yesterday but there was a sign saying it is closed for the holidays. When I sent them a message a few days ago to inquire about making reservations, they read it, but never responded. Wouldn't have went if they just told me they were closed. Looks like an amazing place if they were open though.

La qualité des plats est exceptionnelle, il y en a pour tous les goûts. Produits frais, cadre agréable. Un des meilleurs restaurants de la région. Pensez à réserver en avance pour être placés en terrasse ,de manière à profiter de la vue. Seul bémol, l'attente avant d'être pris en charge.

We dined here for the first time last night, it was my partners birthday and I wanted it to be special. Sadly due to the weather we had to sit inside but fortunately it really didn't spoil the evening at all. The food was fabulous and the staff very attentive, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will certainly be going again.

Ich stimme allen zu, dass die Lage des Restaurants ein Traum ist. Leider kann ich das für den Service nicht behaupten. In der Nachmittagszeit, nach dem Strandbesuch, wollten wir nur etwas trinken. Obwohl längst nicht alle Tische mit Aussicht besetzt waren, wurden wir in die 2. Reihe gesetzt, weil wir ja nichts essen wollten und die Bedienung war nicht freundlich! Wenn man sich bei Gästen so verhält, kommen die bestimmt nicht zum Abendessen wieder! Deshalb kann ich das Essen nicht bewerten :)

Metto una stella ma merita 0 stelle. Ci presentiamo in 4 alle ore 22:00, ma ci dicono che non possiamo cenare perché "le signore dovevano andare via", anche se l'orario di chiusura indicato è 22:30. Spieghiamo che avevamo chiamato per 3 volte un'ora prima e che venivamo da lontano ma non ci fanno entrare. In fine nel momento in cui abbiamo detto che avremmo fatto una recensione su quanto accaduto miracolosamente ci volevano far entrare. Ma noi non abbiamo esitato ad andare via per il comportamento poco serie e poco rispettoso per persone che vi vengono a portare soldi!!!!

We introduce ourselves in 4 at 10:00 pm, but they tell us that we cannot have dinner because "the ladies had to leave", even if the indicated closing time is 10:30 pm. We explain that we had called 3 times an hour before and that we came from far away but they do not let us in. Finally, when we said we would review the miraculous events, they wanted us to enter. But we have not hesitated to leave because of the not very serious and not very respectful behavior for people who come to bring you money

Estuvimos a la hora de comer y muy bien. Al principio, nos atendió un señor mayor un tanto desagradable pero después tanto las dos chicas como el chico que nos atendió estuvieron muy amables y simpáticos

Il ristorante é posto su una terrazza bellissima con vista strepitosa. Il personale é gentile, ma non sempre efficiente. Il cibo é assolutamente mediocre a fronte di prezzi, per il Portogallo, piuttosto alti. Inutili le nostre richieste d'avere la pasta al dente, tutto (anche il pesce) arrivato troppo cotto. Consigliato per aperitivo al tramonto

Die Aussicht ist ein Traum direkt über der Bucht über den Klippen. Die Preise sind für Carvoiera am oberen Ende und im Vergleich zu den Restaurants die nicht direkt an der Küste sind fast doppelt so hoch

Snobbish, rude, abrupt, pretentious, cold, unwelcoming...any one of these words can be used to describe the staff here. When making a reservation they will emphasize that you only have two hours to dine in their restaurant and then you have to be out, and they will do the same when they seat you once you arrive for your reservation. Emphasis here is on needing your verbal confirmation that you will be getting out of their restaurant. Massively overpriced menu. My husband was stopped with an abrupt "yes" on his way to using the WC after we were already seated. There is no way they are Portuguese, as this is not the way things are done in Portugal. This is a country of consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming service. Mar d'Fora is a stain on the country and the beautiful town of Carvoeiro. The view they offer is not worth it, especially when you have dozens of other wonderful dining options in town and the surrounding region.

Sabor agridulce sería lo q mejor resumiría nuestra estancia en Mar d Fora. Fuimos un primer día por su caldero, recomendados por una amiga y estuvo realmente bueno, increíble la mezcla de sabores en un plato soberbio. Tanto nos gusto que decidimos volver otro día a probar su arroz, la otra especialidad d la casa según nos dijeron. Empezó mal el día porq recién llegados d la playa tenía un poco de arena en las piernas, lo habitual en un lugar de playa pero el camarero me indicó que m saliera fuera a quitármela Para poder estar en el restaurante?..lo hice sorprendida y al salir comprobé que era una de las “normas” del restaurante, ubicado encima de una Playa de Carvoeiro con unas vistas Preciosas pero q no deja de ser un restaurante pequeño con una terraza que es donde comíamos, la gente va vestida informal y con ropa de playa, nos molestó bastante el detalle y quizás en ese momento hubiéramos tenido q irnos pero decidimos quedarnos y darles una oportunidad. El arroz dejaba mucho que desear, nada q ver con el caldero, el servicio a pesar de ser un día en el que había 4 mesas con la nuestra fue lento y dejado, y la factura igual de alta que el día del caldero pero con resultado muy diferente, sin duda no volveríamos

Drinks good but very poor service. We only wanted a drink so had to sit right by the entrance in the corner - although the place was only 10 percent full. We tried to reserve a table for the evening but were told we could not have one on the edge (with a view) as there were only two of us, and then we were informed when came to pay that there was a twenty euro minimum on a card. We were not made to feel welcome at all. Very disappointing!

Wir konnten es nicht testen da wir an der "Lounge Bar" nur zum Trinken abgewiesen wurden!
"Anders als in normalen Bars wird in Lounges auch auf Sitzkomfort Wert gelegt, so dass man dort meist auch Sofasessel findet. Meist werden in Lounges hauptsächlich alkoholische Getränke, insbesondere Cocktails, angeboten, manchmal gibt es jedoch auch einfache Speisen."

The fish of the day we ate at Mar d’Fora (sea bass) was probably one of the best we ever had. Their rosé Sangria was delicious and the view was breathtaking m (the picture you see was taken from the table). The service was great too. We would come back everyday if only we lived closer!

Heerlijk gegeten, met drie kleine kinderen. Rond 1700 komen aanwaaien, maar dat was geen enkel probleem. Mooi uitzicht, verse vis, mooi aanbod aan wijn, erg vriendelijke bediening: een absolute aanrader.

Last friday we were attending a wedding at Mar d'fora. What a beautifull place with a magnificent view.
The food was better than we could have hoped for, very fresh, tastefull and well prepared.

Restaurante con ubicación perfecta junto a la playa del Paraíso. Muy buen trato del servicio. Pedimos cataplana para 2 y fue correcta, buena presentación y cantidad pero esperábamos algo más de intensidad en el sabor.

Spectacular little restaurant in the middle of heaven. Wonderful, super fresh seafood (what they are known for), generous portions and a breathtaking view. Perfect place for special occasions and we were so happy to be told of this place. A must visit if you are ever nearby!

Amazing food, fish was fresh and brilliantly cooked. Service was outstanding and the waiters and waitresses were helpful and buzzing with energy. Stunning views over the cliffs and sea, perfect with a sunset Desserts were freshly cooked and to the highest standard. Highly recommend this restaurant

Came in a group of 8 including 3 youngsters and a baby. We booked ahead to ensure a table. We were not disappointed, picturesque view lovely accommodating staff and most importantly fantastic food.

A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location. We came for a late lunch and got a table with a view without a problem. I suspect that will be harder to do in the peak lunch/dinner time. The fish curry for 2 was delicious.

Wow! Overlooking Praia do Paraiso it has a stunning view, but food and service are also excellent!
We visited early evening with our young son and got a very friendly welcome. The service was impeccable, being attentive bit not over familiar or intrusive. The food was astounding. Even as as non sea food eater I loved my goats cheese starter and steak main. My husbands octopus and sole was also great from what i tasted and he raved about. Even my 2 year old ate ALL his breaded fish- astounding for him!!!
It's definitely not the cheapest restaurant around, but compared to the restaurants in the UK it offers amazing value for money for the best meal we've had for a very long time!

Absolut Empfehlenswert! Das Essen war wie die Aussicht und die Freundlichkeit des Personals, einfach überragend. Meeresfrüchte Reis ist wirklich super Lecker und sehr frisch zubereitet. Top Location.
