The best Portuguese meal we’ve ever had during our trip to Lisboa. Owner came in from her other restaurants to introduce herself, her recipes and answer any questions we have on the menu. The owner and her lovely staff all went over above & beyond for us! Great atmosphere and amazing food! We will definitely come back here again. Thank you!

Mais um restaurante que surge nesta zona, com um ambiente muito muito agradável e uma qualidade de comida ligeiramente acima da média. O atendimento é peculiar mas minimamente agradável. O bacalhau é bastante bom, os mexilhões valem pelo molho que também estava muito agradável. Possivelmente um sítio a repetir.

Ein kulinarisches Highlight! Hatten die Kasserole mit Fisch und Muscheln für 2 Personen um 35 € und schafften nicht alles weil so viel. Bei Christina fühlt man sich wirklich wie ein König. So sollte Gastronomie sein - Essen und Service perfekt!

Cristina is a wonderful owner and host - she and her staff were so welcoming and very informative with which wine would go well with the meal. The restaurant is small so it's perfect for a romantic meal. Try their bolo de bolacha chocolate! Its divine. Will definitely visit again when I'm next in town.

Must eat restaurant in Lisbon! The owner and chef, Christina, is the most friendly and helpful hostess in Lisbon. They serve honest Portuguese dishes, made from local products, and the owner and chef explains how it is prepared in a lovely way. The wine (especially the red) is superb and also comes with an explanation about the region, its taste palate and why it is appropriate with the dish you’re eating.
The food is delicious, but the main reason for eating here really is the owner. She made our evening special with her attentiveness and kindness!

Wir waren im Oktober 2018 im Madragoa bei Antonio. Es war wie der Himmel auf Erden! Besser hätte alles nicht schmecken können, und einen besseren Service können wir uns auch nicht vorstellen! Absolut kein Touri-Nepp, hier würden wir jederzeit wieder hin gehen! Danke, Antonio!

Deuxième expérience dans ce restaurant et un peu déçue comparé à la 1ere fois.... la patronne est un chouilla trop présente et propose un peu trop vite son livre de recettes maison... l'açorda à la morue était un peu trop sèche à mon goût et ne faisait pas "soupe" du tout... la patronne, à qui j'ai gentiment dit que la fois d'avant, son plat était plus onctueux, m'a répondu qu'elle, elle la préférait comme ça.... mouais... sinon, les plats sont très bons, les desserts très sucrees( comme souvent au Portugal) et la note pas trop salée...

Très bon restaurant traditionnel. La morue était très bonne et la patronne très sympa. On serait bien revenu une deuxième fois si on avait eu plus de temps.

Une bonne cuisine traditionnelle. Des prix corrects par rapport à la qualité des produits (ce sera légèrement plus élevé que les restaurants habituels).
La portion pour la Cataplana (bouillon de poissons et crustacés avec quelques légumes) est très généreuse et pourrait être prise pour deux!
Le prix du vin au verre est plus que correct vue la qualité des vins servis.
Un accueil plus que chaleureux de la part de la patronne polyglotte (5 langues: italien, espagnol, français, anglais et un peu d’allemand!!). Un ensemble très satisfaisant!

Super expérience au Madragoa !
Un lieu joli et sobre, un accueil chaleureux où l'on se fait conseiller et expliquer les plats (en français si besoin) et une cuisine typique portugaise qui est excellente. Le tout pour un prix raisonnable.

If there‘s only one restaurant in Lisbon you should visit, make it this one! Their hospitality is amazing, they are very attentive in the most pleasant way, the location is wonderful, the food is outstanding and so so delicious, and the prices are very good too. The giant prawns are the best we’ve ever had, but whatever you like, you’ll have difficulties to choose because the entire menu is very intriguing.

One of the best meals and experiences we had in Lisbon for traditional Portuguese cuisine. The hostess/owner was super warm and friendly and treated us like family. Everything we ordered was very tasty especially the squid ink pasta and grilled shrimps.

We have been there last Friday with two friends. Our group was treated like good old friends and we were pleased with the atmosphere and the special attention Christina devoted to us. The best meal in Lisbon : Great steak with a amazing creme fresh sauce, great fish stew and a top wine. If we ever come back to Lisbon, we wont miss this place.

Lovely little restaurant with fair prices. Don't confuse it with Invicta Madragoa next door. The mixed seafood Cataplana and the grilled Octopus are excellent.

The food wasn't that great - the steak I had was very hard to eat, chewy and alomost impossible to cut, only the sauce that was poured over it made it possible to stomach. Fried potatoes were completely bland and soaked.
The salad however was delicoious - the best salad I've had in a long time.
Same thing goes for the cheese plate - amazing. Local "green" wine was alsbo superb if only a little too expensive.
The lady owner who served us was very nice and explained everything about their menu, which she creates herself. Coming up almost every 5 minutes to check up on us and ask if the food was to our liking was a little too much though, we'd rather be left alone to eat.
The prices were very reasonable, except the green wine.

Tous les plats étaient délicieux, le service était délicat et la propriétaires est très chaleureuse !
Les plats que nous avons mangé étaient très originaux et typiquement portugais.
Gros plus, la prioritaire parle six langues : portugais, anglais, français, allemand, espagnol et italien !!!!!!

Madragoa Café was one of my favorite places in Lisbon. Our group of 5 people had a fantastic time. Cristina, the owner, attended to our table personally; when we let her know that one person in our group was gluten free, she even had rice cakes that she served with the bread!
The selection of food was amazing! I asked Cristina if she would choose a meal for me and she happily did so. I ended up having fish and seafood in a broth with potatoes and it was absolutely amazing. We also finished the night there with dessert and a few drinks. No one in our party had anything bad to say about the experience - there were rave reviews all around! If I get the chance to return to Lisbon, I will absolutely visit Madragoa Café again!

The best meal we had in Lisbon! Been here for a week and ate at fantastic restaurants looking for the grilled octopus that would exceed our meal in Peru . We found it here ... melts in your mouth. We then had the seafood stew and were blown away! As for the service .. all I can say is Christina the owner was awesome. She personally served each plate and explained how it was prepared. I read the recent one star review and it is unfortunate that someone felt the need to trash an establishment based on their table location and conversations they overheard. This place will have a lower rating because a person felt the need to post an obvious biased opinion based on them eavesdropping on conversations. Not customers I would want in my restaurant. I hope to be back in Lisbon very soon and I will definitely come back here.

Excellent meal at Madragoa cafe.
We had a dinner at this place and it could not be better.
Cristina is a wonderful host and the service is very friendly.
The food is simply amazing. The cataplana was very fresh and the house cod was very tasty.
We also loved the deserts. The delicia from algarve.

Arrived to a half full (or empty, if you will) restaurant. We were given the choice of a small table across from where the plates and silverware were collected, or a small table pushed up against the bar. We thought that the other more comfortable tables must be reserved. When the next customers - a couple as well - arrived 20 minutes later (without a reservation as their conversation implied; Cristina gave them the option of two comfortable tables to sit at), they were seated in the more comfortable table beside us. Some of the other customers seemed frustrated with the amount of time it was taking to receive their meals. Our meal arrived and while the single, small fried octopus was delicious, the steak was simply so tough and full of grissle that it could neither be cut nor chewed. This was the worst meal we had in our 3 weeks all around Portugal. We were deducted the steak meal and offered a free dessert, but we could not imagine another minute waiting for unhappy staff to serve overpriced food (no smiles or personality from any staff; staff appeared confused as to what was expected of them, cook outside taking a break when we walked up). We seldom ever complain as Canadians but this meal was certainly worth complaining about to all of the tourists depending on reviews to make their decisions. Many great restaurants nearby that I'm sure would be willing to prepare a great tasting meal in a timely manner and with a smile.

We loved this place and would have come back again had the owner not been headed off on vacation the next day. The seafood stew I had was absolutely delicious. My wife had the mussels and was very happy with them. The bread was 'second bake' of the day and hence very fresh. All-in-all our best eating experience over a 10-day stay in Lisbon. Nice atmosphere too.

Malheureusement ce petit restaurant "typique" ne l'ai plus réellement, c'est un restaurant pour les touristes avec des tarifs de touristes.. Vous pouvez manger tout de aussi bien à Lisbonne pour moins cher.

Raczej nie polecam. Obsługa choć z początku miła potem zwraca uwagę gościom, są po prostu niegrzeczni. Lemoniada z puszki. Dwie osoby zamówiły mięso. Oba kawałki twarde i przypalone. Na plus owoce morza bardzo porządnie przyrządzone i ceny niezłe.

This was an experience that every person visiting Lisbon should have. The neighborhood is beautiful and speaking to Cristina about the history only made the experience more rich. The mussels were perfectly cooked and the desserts (I may have tried 3) were perfectly delicious. I cannot wait to come back to Lisbon and eat at Madragoa Cafe!

This place has charm, a wonderful host and amazing food. You must try this cozy restaurant while you visit Portugal.
I don’t know when I have felt better about a place and a meal. They truly treat you like family here.
I was presented and told about the perfect white wine produced in Portugal. This wine is so tasty and complimented my meal perfectly. Christina the owner was kind enough to share her favorite wine with me along with terrific conversation. She is a gem and a very talented host.
I had the salmon and it was the best I have had yet. I recommend her special tuna pate with the bread and olives to snack then wine then absolutely anything on the menu. You can’t lose. Also, the chocolate cake is delightful!

L'ambiance du restaurant est très sympa, le serveur et le patron parle très bien le français et sont sympathique.
Niveau nourriture nous avons trouvé bon mais nous nous attendions à mieux les plats sont basiques et nous avons mieux manger dans d'autres resto portugais et pour moins chers. Le prix des plats principaux n'est pas justifié ils ne sont pas copieux la morue manquait de sauce et la saucisse avec un maigre accompagnement. Ils font payer le couvert le pain l'eau ce qui fait monter la note. Dommage.

Gostei bastante e descobri por acaso usando o Google maps na zona. A ideia do restaurante são os petiscos. O meu grupo pediu 2 petiscos por pessoa e ficamos mais do que bem servidos. estava tudo optimo! melhor farinheira com ovos que ja' comi. tudo o que envolvia enchidos estava tambem muito bom! O serviço foi simpatico e impecável. Nada a apontar. Nao e' 'barato' mas o preço vale bastante a qualidade da comida e do espaço. Para repetir sem duvida!

Ужасно!!! Нет никакой дружелюбности , как писали некоторые . Нет меню на английском языке, хозяин переводит , но в своей интерпретации. Нет винной Карты .Нет детского кресла , что проблематично если вы пришли с маленьким ребёнком . Еда не вкусная . Вместо свежей и вкусной еды набор консервов . Вместо сардинок принесли шпроты !!!! Вместо рыбы принесли размоченную соленную рыбу , есть которую было невозможно . Один плюс - что хозяин с нас не взял денег , за эту так называемую рыбу .

My husband took me here for my birthday - had the best birthday dinner ever thanks to this wonderful restaurant and it's owner/chef! Christina treated us like family, explaining the menu, recommending items, bringing food and drinks until we couldn't eat another bite. We had a blissful 3 hours talking and chatting the night away, eating fantastic food, drinking delicious wine/port, and feeling welcomed by the entire staff. This place is an absolute gem and we will be back soon!

Tasty, authentic and traditional Portuguese food. We were recommend the clams and the bread stew by the waiter and we were not disappointed. The waiting staff, as a whole, were welcoming, friendly and spoke excellent English, making the experience very easy. It was busy on a weekday in February so I advise booking in advance during high season.

Was slightly disheartened walking in when I could hear every language appart from Portuguese, but the food was astounding, the service excellent and the head chef/ owner walking around the tables at down times added a wonderful touch.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Madragoa. Our online reservation worked perfectly, the interaction with owners Cristina and Antonio was delightful and the food uniformly excellent. We wanted a restaurant where vegetarian selections were on a par with the rest of the menu and were not disappointed.
